749 Name: 731 Posted date: 04/03/14 21:55 I went to Akihabara today though I had nothing in particular to buy. There was a drunken old man on the return train. Most of the passengers on the compartment were women except me sitting on edge of seat and the old man. Their ages seemed to be twenties to forties.
The old buzzard started hassling women around him. At first, he bothered a young woman. She was so strong-minded that she thundered out the old coot and quickly got off the train at the next stop. Glancing at him during that time, I though what a nasty man he was.
Then, the old fellow came to our seat and started hassling several middle-aged women sitting around the center of the seat. “Don't use cell-phones on the train. You’ll pay for this!” He was gorgonizing, I remember. Women were bullied into silence with a look of annoyance like → (´・ω・`).
Bending down their heads, those middle-age women were like “Let sleeping dogs lie” to him. The old man shouted meaningless things such as “Women should obey men without complaint,” then grabbed the chin of one of women in his hand. I thought “This is enough,” so I yelled at him, “Hey! Stop it!” gathering all my courage together. My voice was trembling, perhaps. I have little experience of fighting. However, the old fellow seemed he didn't hear me and showed no response. “Hey you! I say, stop it ぎうこhくえほp (meaningless words) !” I screamed again like nothing. Then the woman urged me to sit down, saying, “Don’t worry. I’m all right.” Finally, the old creep realized and turned his face toward me. “You’ve been staring at me…,” he glared at me with enraged eyes.
Staggering, he approached me. “Hey, how old are you?” “I’m 22 years old.” “I’m in my 60’sこいえおヴぃえそいv (babble).” I couldn’t hear what he said, though I guess he meant “I don’t want any lip out of you, young man!” “You looking for a fight?” he’s already got a chip on his shoulder. “Huh? Beg yours? I’m calling the cops!” “Call the cops or whatever じょふげg (babble)” he said and tried to slap me with the open hand. Losing control, it bumped into the hand of a woman sitting next to me. It’s more like shaving than bumping though.
Can you tell me how to shorten sentences…? (´・ω:;.:...
772 Mr. Nameless: 731 Posted date: 04/03/14 22:37 "EEK!" the female passenger bent backward. I stood up feaverishly and grabbed the old man's arm. In that unguarded moment, I saw one of middle-aged women going to call a train conductor.
At that time, an office worker looked in his late 20's in the next compartment realized this fray and came to help us. Looking at us scuffling with each other, he got a full nelson on the old fellow. "OK, OK, I give up." "Don't annoy such a young lady." Only a mentor of life could do that! He knows how to pacify aggressive people without irritating them. "I hold this man, so now you sit down." The office worker also calmed me down because I lost my head, too. Ha! The old buzzard didn't bite the office worker's head off. Perhaps he thought this guy was stronger than he. The old fellow looked down on me. How frustrating! "He is public nuisance." The woman sitting next to me said. "Absolutely." Why the hell didn't I come up with something clever to say? _| ̄|○

>>767 It was really like that... I was uncool. I was. Mr. Office Worker, you were so cool!
After some time, the conductor came. “I want you to get off the train at the next stop so that I can turn you in the police.” the conductor said to the old drunk, then he yelled again.
Told that this was treated as a case, I, the woman sitting next to me, middle-aged women and the old man got off the train at the next stop. Then, the conductor said to us, “While I go call the police, could you hold the man?” and he disappeared somewhere. He left me, the old fellow and women alone. I though we could not count on him. While I was holding the old fellow's arm not to let him go, he was lashing out vocally, “Don’t grab my arm! I won’t escape!” Nobody around helped me... (´・ω・`)
After I kept holding the old coot who was trying to run away for some time, a couple of police officers arrived finally and asked me, “Is this the old man?” As soon as I answered yes, they took the old guy to the stationmaster’s office. We followed them. After confirming our identification, the police officers asked women, “Do you want to report this as a case?” “No, we don’t” they answered. I answered “He did nothing to me,”in a fashion.
Even if we did not report it as a case, we were told to fill out some documents, so women and I reluctantly followed them to the police station. On our way, I apologized to women, “I’m sorry to get you into trouble.” Because their destination stations were further ahead. “No problem!” smiled women.
When we arrived at the police station, the old man was taken to the back of the building. We heard his raving and police officer’s roaring. “We’ll give you a real scolding *w” smirked the police officer. *w: smirk
Seeing women filling out police reports, I could not help bowing to them to show my apology. Because I deeply regretted thinking if I had kept silent at that time, such a situation could not have happened. “A brave young man like you is rare these days ” kindly said one of middle-aged women. I felt relieved.
My story ends soon… You may guess the ending, though…
I didn’t know why but I asked the police officer, “Ah…may I go home now?” “Yes, you can. Thank you for your cooperation. ” To my surprise, the officer not only let me go but thanked me. The women also deeply bowed and said “Thank you so much” to me. "If you wouldn't mind, could you tell us your name and contact details?" said one of the women. I wrote down my name and address in her notebook. "Excuse me, could you give it to me, too?" asked the woman who was sitting next to me on the train. So I wrote them in her notebook, as well. Then she said, "I hope I can return the compliment some day." In a fluster I said "No. No. Don't worry" but soon I said "I am really sorry" and departed as if escaping.
That's it. I realized later that I should've asked for her contact information, instead……_| ̄|○ I had not experienced getting gratitude from a woman, so I got rattled. 'Arrrrrh!!!!!!'

General way to answer is by a letter, isn't it? I think she'll be surprised if you call suddenly. Besides if someone receive a call on the day the letter was arrived most people will be surprised.
Well, I’m a woman, though I guess I won’t feel bad if I receive a call from him. Instead, I’ll have a favorable impression of him like, ‘He is honest enough to call and let me know that my cups arrived in good condition.’

But, as somebody previously pointed out, a letter doesn't seem to maintain relation, so I also agree with the opinion that it's better call her before that fever going down.

Do you have straight and tight jeans? If you have, wear that. Thin turtleneck sweater and easy jacket is fine for the tops. I'm going to google for samples right away.

I think you should dress neatly.
I bet you'll be uncomfortable to enter a restaurant without changing clothes and developing confidence.

I'm also in empathy with Train Man and read this thread. It seems difficult to treat a woman. I don't think I can do it. Hurdles to cross are many and high.

556 Name: Girl1 Posted date: 04/03/18 10:01 What conversation did Train Man have to ask her for dinner? I calmly give an advice to Train Man as a girl. Sorry if I miss the point.
"Thank you for the cups. They are costly, aren't they?" → To pay respect to her who presented Hermes. And also, it's better to show the real face of Train Man who is not normally familiar with brand.
"What sort restraints do you usually go to?" → "What would you like to eat?" The former seems to be too direct. If you ask her favorites beforehand with a question like the latter, it may easily lead to the conversation on the day. If her answer is out of Train Man's territory, it is also one move to say, "I usually have no chance to go to such kind of restaurant, do you know any good one?" Even if she becomes hesitate to get Train Man in her territory, there is no problem here because she may feel troublesome to arrange by herself. Then, ask her "What meal do you hate?" and say "I'll try to look for a proper restaurant, but I'm not sure if I can find any good restaurant because I usually go to normal pubs, so shall we look for a good one together on the day when we meet? (But it is necessary for you to pick up some and actually go there to look over beforehand if possible.)
I don't speak Japanese, but I have heard about the "Trainman" story a long time ago, and I was very interested. However, the logs are all in Japanese and no one has translated them yet... until this thread.
You guys are awesome! Keep up the good work man! Finally get to have an idea of what the craze it about! Thanks!
"What time do you finish your work?" → If you ask "What shall we do?" It may lead a sequence of meaningless conversation like "What would you do?" You'd better change the question to the one that she can easily answer and lead her.
If she says "maybe past 6 pm is fine," you may say "What about around 7 pm at the place? (where you two meet.) → Show your respect on her convenience but do not give her away (w
Well, from my experiences... 1) It's unsightly that you're nervous at the restaurant which you went for the first time. I thought he should've chosen a restaurant which he could relax. You might fail if you're tensed for the first time date and also you're at the restaurant which you went for the first time.
2) You shouldn't ask her vague questions such as "What do you want?" because it'll cause silence. You should ask her alternative questions or think if you could answer before you ask her.
3) It's outrageous that you don't have topics to talk the day. You must understand that you're calling her not only to decide the date and place. <- This is important. You shouldn't continue conversation about the day you helped her. For example, "You said that you often go to Italian restaurant, so what do you like best? I'm not familiar since I haven't been to real Italian restaurant, but I used to ate tiramisu often. It was popular." or something like this. You'll fail if you try to show off and talk about things you don't know, so talk about things you know. However, it may don't last for a long time if you talk about things you really know, so I'll recommend to search by the internet about the thing you heard from her on the phone. "I've seen △△, which you told me about on the phone the other day, on the internet. is △△ ××?" will be fine.
Ah, I want write more, but it's long so I'll finish here. Good luck, I wish from bottom of my heart.

Then return to the topic. She and the ladies said,
"If he weren't here, we have no idea what the man done to us. I'm very relief that he saved us."
"Ordinary people would pretend he didn't see. He was brave to stand against the man."

Then she said, "You did the right thing." "I'm really appreciated." "Most people couldn't risk your life for a totally stranger." "I told my parents and friends about that day."

Hoping to take my plan a stage farther, I repeated in my mind the phrase, "a meal as thanks for the cups", which I found in this thread.
I began to talk, "The cups, you gave me, are very expensive, aren't they? I thank you very much for your thoughtfulness."
Hermes replied, "No, I got them at a low price through the influence of my office. I'm afraid if I've rather worried you"
At that time, I felt it was the only chance to invite her. "If I may give you a reward for the cups, how about having meal togehmb, fjgROp" I just broke my jaw..._| ̄|○

>>876 I'm a girl. I think jeans and Comme ca inner and jacket will be fine. You'll buy jeans you'll wear (kind that thread member recommended you before), wearing that and ask "I'm looking for a jacket and inners suits this." Sales clerk will recommend you which you should choose. I suggest buying several inner since you'll have hard time choosing clothes again. It tends to buy same kind of clothes because everyone has favor, but I recommend different type of clothes! Sorry to be long. Cheer up Mr. Train.

I take this a chance to take the plunge. I offer 'This is just my way of saying thank you...for the nice cup. Wo...Would you likeee' And here, I bites by tongue... Fuck me..._| ̄|○
If you are American fan than you're probably watching pirated version of Densha Otoko. God is not happy about this, and you will go to hell where Adolf Hitler is living. Okay?
Densha Otoko is already on American television in New York and California, but it's not translated. So, it's meant for Japanese iving abroad and Japanese-Americans only.
Hey, I've seen someone who calls themself "doink" on LJ, too... I only remember coz they talk about themself in the 3rd person, and GAWD do they sound stupid. Prolly 45 years old and 300lbs, trying to pass for a cute wittle Japanese schoolgirl online, but failing miserably...
By the way, there's already someone translating Densha Otoko into English. I don't remember the URL, tho, try doing a Yahoo search...

oh and about english densha-otoko, i doubt it'll be as good as it was in japanese. i'm not saying english is not sufficient. it's just densh-otoko has so many slangs, aa, and weird jokes in it.
Hiiii! Oh my gosh cool you guys are translating the Train Man boards into English? WOW that's so awesome keep up the good work and try to improve your English lol. xD
