>>45 That mistake explained a lot. We're just learning English so it's natural to fail. No one should point out other's mistake too often. idiot. It must be just like this: you've just started English? Oh, yeah, have you? Yep, let's just say, a month ago! Do you get it? That's the way beginners are motivated to write English. So don't try to find fault with other's language. Rather pay respect to it, please.
>46 I agee with you.I often join the English chat rooms. And I always feel that the most important thing is how you make yourself understood to others.
>>51 I guess you were. So let's just make rules in this thread, for example, 1) don't point out other's mistakes too often →When you can't understand what they write, ask them at first. →If they want to know how to say it correctly, then help them. 2) if a poster makes mistake on purpose, then ignore him. 3) use as simple words and expressions as you can, so that beginners can get in to talk.
Others? Is it ok with you? Anyway, if you don't like the rules, you can change them afterwards. Well, then, hope you all will get on with your conversation. Have fun!
Matsushita is stupid. What is it doing? Keep apologizing and warning the danger of death from monocabon thing on TV commercials is stupid. I mean just doing it is not stupid but necessary, I know, but they are overdoing it. Keep airing it over and over again like a retarded parakeet. It's OK It's enough! Everybody has seen the message. Don't do it any more. That thing really makes me insane.
>77 How the hell can you say such a thing? Who do you think you are ? If you were in their shoes, you'd never said that. You cann't be too enough in warning the danger of death. All you have to do is turning off the TV and never watch it. you idiot.
>>107 i think he means that he'll be on 2ch all day long and never studies. but people learns a lot from 2ch, too, don't they? it's got forums like chatting in english and all other neat stuff.
>>128 He said nothing to your inquiry,so I'll substitute for him. Of course ,it's crystal clear. North Korea theatens Japan with its ballistic missiles and China is also the same kind.
Can u hear my grumble~~!? I 've doing the distance love for 4 month. He talked me in e-mail"Let's go to Snow Board with our friends in this head of spring?" I was verrryyy happy them. But, I askd to my father about this plan,he said "no you can't coz it is danger for girl!" I don't think so, I wanna see him very much... I have to follow my father....?It is mortifying! Reluctance stung me on the high school student I.
oh, I wanna grumble too.how unlucky day ! I got a ticket for speeding.Iwas barely going over the limit. but they fined me \10000.I'm too poor to pay for it. could you lend me some money ?
yap... but he isn't such a bad boy, other boys are either. And maybe an our friend(she is girl) will go to there too,so I afread... she likes 'boys' and very cute girl she is.
I 'm always worried of this problem...I wanna go and see him very much...><
you are such a cute girl,I guess. a youg girl in your vulnerable years, I wanna hug you tight and say "don't worry".
148 :17♀Beginner of English ! haha:2006/01/03(火) 02:02:00
>>146 why-? ♀→woman ♂→man isn'it???@_@ >>147 "Cute"!? No way!! haha~ But Thank u for u saying so >__< I was able to settle down in the word of you, and feel that it is very reassuring.... Thank u very much^v^
>>148 you know, I'm Japanese and my English is poor so I can't express how I feel exactly about your sayings. But I understand you . your sayings are so cute. that's the girl.you know what I mean ? I can't advise you nothing on your sayings cuz I understand you and your father both. so it is all up to you. sorry. to tell you the truth,my opinion is that you should follow your father you know "life is patience" sincerely yours.
>>148 I'm reluctant to say this, but If you wanna chat with someone more, you should go to "chat in English". There are a few people who come in this thread. 141-150 are all mine except you and 146. are you a native speaker ?
Your very wonderful ! I can't read these English.... But I want to study English in the futuer.
153 :17♀Beginner of English ! haha:2006/01/03(火) 15:04:56
>>149 thank u for ur response~~ >< I think ur English is better than mine! mm...yap "patience" is very important thing for me. it is hard , But I'll try^-^ >>151 I'm sorry when I read your word and it is wrong. thank u for ur telling,But"Chat in Engrish" is too hard for me, I'm just a Jp high school student.and I've not pass "英検2級"yet. my English is too poor to I talk in "Chat in English". Aand~~ honestly saying I sometime use my dictionary when I write my massage, and read yr message. So I cant go"chat in English"... Do u think that I should go to there?
>>152 Thank you so much, but actually I'm not. I think now is the time you must start to study English, cuz how do you say it in English? I don't remember exactly.... "time flies like an arrow"....probably right. "I'll do it someday" does't help to realize your dream. Let's start today, not someday.
>>153 I thought you are a native speaker. what a relief! well, it's hard to answer.....cuz I don't know much about your goal. It depends on what you expect in these threads, I think. If you wanna improve your Englih skills, you'd better go there. honestly speaking, there was one phrase in your remarks whose meaning I don't know. "reluctance stuck ...."I squeezed my brain all over the night to understand it. what do you mean by thay? sincerely yours.
156 :17♀Beginner of English ! haha:2006/01/03(火) 18:52:12
>>155 sorry~~ >< maybe I was make mistake on it.("reluctance stuck ...." I just wanna say "I get tired on the high school student I." Maybe Native speaker don't say"reluctance stuck ...."
>>175 The latter is better...? What do you mean? What is the latter? I didn't mention it, did I? What I asked you about was where the chatting thread was, right? That said, yes, I think you're right. You don't have to be so nervous about mistakes, even when you write in English. And this is the English board, so you don't have to pass up the oppotunity to chat in the language, though many of the posters in this board still feel hasitant to do it or just lack the abillily to put out what they have in mind.
Did you watch K-1 at the end of the day of the last year? Bobby won against Akebono Taro, as I anticipated. He needed to lose his weight before the match, didn't he? His fat body prevented him from moving quickly, which meant Bobby could get around him and sometimes rushed to kick his shins hard. Did you see Akebono stumbled before Bobby dashed to punch him many times? In my view, AT corrupted because the African man damaged his legs. That's why AT lost. In a word, AT must have lost his weight.
yes,i did.the reason AT was lost is due to his stamina,i think. AT has no staying power.he was already exhausted before the damage. by the way,AT seems to be pregnant. i guess form his abdomen. but pregnacy term isn't too long? when AT's child will be born?
Hello, does anyone want to speak with foreigners as if it was on telephone? This can be done for free with Skype! We are three Norwegians looking for Japanese to talk with, because no one understands our poor Japanese anyway. Does any of you 2ch people want to chit-chat a bit? We don't bite or anything, I promise!
>>184 You need a microphone for your computer, that's all! Afterwards you install the Skype program, and you're ready to speak with people from all over the world for free.
>>188 Thanks. I did take a look over the website you provided, and it sure interested me, yes, but I'm sorry I don't have a microphone for my PC! If you don't care too much, I can chat with you in this thread and Japanese langueage is Ok if you like.
>>192 Losing your weight is very easy. You should eat chicken in stead of meat, poke. Reduce your alchole consumption, And Exercise. Those ways can make you healthy, friend.
Speaking of K-1, I guess Kiyohara Kazuhiro, the former Yomiuri homerun batter, will participate in k-1 activities, of course as a fighter. He looks masculine, and strong.
>>197 He is good at intimidating others only, he actullay is a loser who is fat and bald. If he fight Akebono, he will be defeated. by the way, I wanna marry Hasekyo.
>>205 her name spell is choi ji woo is correct. but I am not interested in korean movies, actresses. so it's not up to me whether she appears J-drama or not.
>>207 You took me a little wrong. I said I preferred choi ji woo to the chinese female, but that doesn't mean she is my favorite. Ueto Aya, Yukorin, Yuuka, there are so many pretty girls out there in Japan!!
>>208 A beautiful rose has sharp throngs itself is right. but you know Ugliest plant like a cactus also has many stings. I think Hasekyo's throng means not bitter nature but protect her virginity and impeccavle beautifulness. so I don't mind
>>210 You sound super positive.. But in short, a only handsome guy can touch the thorny rose. She must've made it with her boyfriend many times so far.
>>190 どもありがとうございます!I really appriciate your kindness! Unfortunately my Japanese is still very primitive, so I don't know more than some words and phrases. I'm trying to learn the language by myself, with help from scool books. Japanese is complex to write, but not so hard to speak, I think. For a foreigner at least! It will take time to memorize kanji.
I did speak to a Japanese guy from Tokyo a little bit earlier, and he was a really nice person, even though we had problems understanding each other. He spoke really, really fast! It was still a lot of fun! Languages really fascinate me, but no other language is in my opinion more fascinating than Japanese!
>>215 Don't mention it. We have had many non-Japanese coming to 2ch recently, so you are welcome here as well. Some of them(as far as I know, Americans/English/Swedish, etc) said they are interested in the Japanese language/subculture or what not. They've been learning Kanjis.
And as I'm learning english, I can guess it's hard for you to understand Japanese at the native-Japanese rate of speech. I'd speak as slow as you can, if I had the microphone, get connected to Skype and have a talk with you. You could ask him if he could speak more slowly like "ゆっくりしゃべってもらえますか?".
Wow,it's amazing. This tread was so inactive that there was few came in. How come this tread became so popular ? oh,I see. the number of "chat in Eiglish "was over 1000,and no one established a new one.
Hey folks. What's up. I just finished watching all of Densha Otoko. Good show. My friend says the Itoh Misaki can't act but I think he's full of it. Anyways, what's new today in the world of English?
>>227 Can you teach me how different electric and electrical are? I sure did consult a dictionary, but I didn't understand what the difference was. Could you explain it, please?

>>311 So you mean she deseves greater popularity than she did so far? But chances are veru slim, don't you think? Not all pretty girls can succeed in show buisiness.. What distinguishes her from others?
>>313 a...it's a tough question. telling distinguish her form other idols is quite difficult. but I can sau this.. I want to marry Yui Aragaki rather than other models, idols, and singers.
・Yukorin is as if she is angel. ・Ishihara Satomi may be a devil, I mean, she looks pretty but deep down she may be wicked. ・Nagasawa Masami smiles very charmingly. ・Yui Aragaki・・・we have no information about her.
>>316 How do you know? Yeah, I love her very much. But don't think I am a Oppai Seijin, or big boobs lover. Everybody tends to have a wrong idea about that.
I highly recommend Horikita Maki. I saw her acting in the movie Sanchome-no-Yuhi, it was really good. But I could hardly recognize her at first from her appearance, looking like quite another girl of Producing a Nobuta.
Ive finished work. Its getting colder day by day.Iam home. What a amazing many people write down this thred. However, there is no senssible contents... 'Idol'mmm,,, Indeed I'd be insterested in it(ex.hirosue) like a real girlfriend but now I aint gotta addicted to someone. But its not bad to falling love with Idol,I think.
Sorry about the bad spelling up there. I'm tired. I must go to bed now. I will try and talk with you all later. Oh, and I'm from Canada and not the US.
It was quite a while ago you put your advert (article) here. I've been living in Tokyo for the last 20 years but hardly visited other parts of Japan. Though I have been to Kyoto & Nara for school excursion, that was such a long ago
>>217 I think most Japan interested foreigners also take special interest in various subcultures, myself being a Japanese rock fanatic (you know "visual kei"?)! So far I only know a few basic kanji like 私、僕、月 and so on, but I'm learning more all the time. It is fun to learn a completely different way of writing, but takes a lot of time and memorization.
Have you practiced English for a long time? You're very good at it! I'm sure you'd have no problem having an English conversation with me, because I speak quite slowly no matter which language I talk. I should not speak more Japanese until I've practiced further, because the level I'm on now is not sufficient for talking.(w Thanks for the tip!
>>348 Read threads, you'll see we have a few overseas people. Come to think of it, though, we haven't had Asian people(not Japanese of course) here in the English board. I sort of wanted to talk with Taiwanese girls. They look attractive to me.
Hey, I don't like blue jokes .It's disgusting. If you wanna talk about these kinds of topics ,you should go to " dirty talk in English" How do you say it in English ? I don't remember exactly. " birds of a feather flock together"....probably right. You'll meet a lot of persons who are similar to you.
お疲れ様です。 There is no easy way to translate it. It means "Thanks for all the effort you put in today", but we never say that. Instead, try "Thanks and have a good night." or even just "see you"
I write down the sentences, check the spell with spell checker, translate them into Japanese on excite translation site, and check translated Japanese.
It's difficult for me to discribe how to move one's body in English. Bend down and forward, get my arm around her shooulder, etc... I wanted to depict more!! Can you help me with it, please?
Move your arms this way. I got to my feet. Swing your arm that way. Elbow your way through crowed people. Put my index finger to my lips, meaning "be quiet".
people like that who talk shit in forums like these dont even know what he's saying. He's just a posin trick trying to act like he's the shit. He's probably some gay faggot who lives with his mommy.
sorry i dont speak ebonics. maybe if you took some english lessons...then...you wont be so illiterate.. www.dictionary.com look up ebonics and illiterate..
I have nothing to do now. Whould you like to have a little chat with me ? Oh, you wouldn't. that't too bad. if you change your mind, please call me. I'm hanging around all of English threads now.

After I read about her online, Yukorin started to grow on me. So my irritation towards fanatic fans of herself has melted away. I'm seized by her inoccent smiles.
>>425 I don't know about the idiot, but I'd say he must've moved from the chat thread to this one. I prefer him to go back. This thread is meant for those who talk peacefully. They should be separated from us.

it seems to be able to understand that number of anonymous comments of slashdot.jp compares with slashdot.org.
In addition, I have an experience to post anonymous comment to a BBS on overseas. Someone told me why you wrote your message using anonymous. I answered I had no idea. This behavior looks like misterious from the viewpoint of strangers.
But your scheme seems to be in vain. cuz no other shit is more stinky than yours.so that everyone'll notice what you've done just before. as a reresult, all of your neighbors hold their noses.
I am an American, but I like the Japanese BBS culture more than America's. I am learning Japanese, but I am not very good.
To any Japanese person who wants to post on an American BBS that is very similar to 2ch, you should go to http://4-ch.net. It is much smaller than 2ch, but it is also anonymous. It is also the closest in culture to 2ch. You will see (´ω`) and orz on 4-ch, also.
One guy was considering a marriage between 3 women. So he gave each of them $5000 to observe how each of them will spend it. the 1st women spent every penny of it to dress herself up with a gorgeous cloth and cosmetics, she said, I love u and I want the people to think you have the most beautiful wife in town the 2nd women used the $5000, to buy suits, shirts and car accessories for the future husband and said, I want yout know I care about you the most, so I spent all the moeny for you. now the last women thought in a different way, instead of spending the money, she invested the money into the stock market and returned it to the man by doubling the amount. she said, I want you to know that I am clever, and I never waste money like the others now the man carefully observed this result and decided to marry the women with the biggest tits.
what a boring story ! if you made this story, you don't have a sense of humor at all. the point of the joke is dull and third-rate. in addition, you made lots of mistakes. you'd better change women into woman in all cases except one. anyway,i wasted my precious time to read it.give it back to me.
Dear All I would like to share a great success story.. A really classic one.. I have been teaching English in this country for about 2 years now.. Man.. so many women approached me and my life in Japan is so great... I lost my virginity at my late twenties.. I was never popular back in my country. But now I am living like a rock star! All the babes want to have a bodily relationship with me.. The surprising thing is that most of these women are in relationship! I sometimes thought that I was being used.. but then.. who isn't? Please forgive me all the gentlemen out there... I am eating your pussies....
>>481 その文章に「bodily relationship」なんて句は合ってませんね。 「bodily relationship」は丁寧で回りくどい熟語です。 裁判の時や修論で使えるでしょう。 "Are you implying the defendent had a bodily relationship with the witness?"
His behavior didn't meet your taste, did it? But you could avoid his company if you wanted. It's all your fault. Don't blame Mr Shit for his kindness, dude.
>>502 Read what? Your posting? It's hard to understand... What do you mean by "who wanna a company who mistakes himelf instead of his?" My guess was all that I wrote above.
I applied for a job as a translator in Lions . Fortunately , I've got the position . The third interview was held at Shinagawa prince Hoteltwo weeks ago, then I talked to Mr.Ito , the manager of this team. It was so jubilant that I met & talked to him, cause I've been fond of this team ever since he was a top player in Japan , which is 10 years ago ? Anyway , we focused on how Lions shoud make it onto top of next season and, he also insisted that the history and the way of thinking as a member of the team be preceded anything we might think and do.
I love to be part of this mission and it also is overwhelming. I must comply with my sound judgement which should be as same spirits as all of the player have .
Everybody can expect to be Lions as the Champion of this season. I touched the manager's confidence and pride during the interview.
I think Mr Shit was over 60 years. You think he is very mature. And yes, he is. He talks gentlly to any helpless people who post here in order to ask him what they should do.
But Mr Shit sometimes gets out of control, doesn't he? You know, he loves to copy and paste AAs. You see why he is disliked by many of us, who want the English board to be quiet.
Hey, Mr Shit, why don't you write here? We were fighting each other, sure, but let's get over it. We have to get going through the hardest way to appease people in the board.

>>591 I'm not talking so much about this time around so much as back from when the UK was in the depths of the Mad Cow crisis. The US (not only the US) spent as long as it could pretending it couldn't have the same problem with its cows. The detection procedures and the regulations to deal with Mad Cow disease in the US were as lax as possible, brought in as late as possible and (at the start) poorly enforced.
There were certainly lots of "suspicious cow deaths" in the US that were not counted in the early stages there.

I have come to here because the the chatting thread in English have contaminated with sexual subjects. Its thread is chatting about something but is, I think, without about sexual topics, in particular of talking about darty, because of giving them a established thread about darty subjects. I hope they get out to a thread, "Darty talk in English".
I seems bad guys do not have topics for something but for sex. It's worry. I think they are interesting in something. If they have many topics and a lot of idea, they might get relationships with a lot of someones. They have to consider how they can get fascinations.
You are good business men, you earn much money and you can understand English rather than me. You are laughing or sneering at me because I am fat, put on thick glasses, cherry and warehouse freeter who earns nearly \100,000 per mnth. but some day you will feel the strongest jealos at me when I marry Emma Watson, a British angel. Then you consider yourself actual loser is not me but yourself.

money. korean girls are totally different from what japanese girls are. they are not monkey, but
Japan totally over reacted about BSE and cows from USA. The one case of BSE in America was a cow from Canada. Japan is just being dumb. But if Japan wants to spend more money on beef from Austrailia that is okay. But BSE is not something to be so scared of. Japanese should worry more about the rate of STD's that is growing in Japan and the rate of HIV rather than BSE.

Because I am interested in foreigner's view about our Japanese culture, economy, nationality. I think that all Japanese have already lost our nationality completely, so the all the Japanese are not be able to speak about our own country with certainly evidences, recently. As long as the Japanese is not aware of their difficult situation of Japan in the world community, Japan will die out certainly in the near future.........

>>624 It is always hard to get a clear view of a culture from one inside it; however, the converse is also true. One that is outside of the culture cannot see or understand everything either. I myself have never been to Japan, so I cannot give much of an insight sadly. If you want a personal prospective, you might want to read the blog of a gaijin. There are plenty of JET bloggers, so that might be a good place to start. You could also try contacting a university, be it in Japan or overseas.
I recommend a university that aggressively receives students from foreign countries. Usually, such one have some meeting so that Japanese students can communicate with them. You can learn their viewpoints. I've sometimes participated in such a meeting, and it was very interesting. In addition, you can study social, cultural, or ethnic diversity through a class. How about a course about something international?
>>629 I'm actually an American that tries to be a study of history and the world. I mostly lurk in the English threads as I cannot read Japanese at all. Do you know what's going on in Europe? I hear some cartoonists in Denmark rubbed muslims in the wrong way. Its embasy was burned down or something. What's your opinion on that?
I believe that they do have a valid concern; however, the response is horribly extreme. As far as I know, no one has actually been killed yet, but there have been death threats and bounties put out on the cartoonists. Some people are organizing a boycott against Denmark, which while I believe that this is extreme considering it was not a government run newspaper (and that a government should not censor their newspapers), but I believe that this is a valid tactic. On the other hand, you have the people rioting and burning down multiple embassies in many countries. That is totally uncalled for and I believe that it is worse than the original offense (along with the death threats).
Yes, there is somewhat of a double standard. You are not likely to see a cartoon with a black person being lynched and called a nigger, for example, but it does happen. Everyone gets abused overtime. If muslims believe that these cartoons are going to contribute more to "Islamophobia", they should respond in a RATIONAL manner. Rioting and death threats are only going to lead more people to believe that muslims are radical extremists. Even their own people who while condemming the cartoons but call for restraint have been attacked, fired, or ostracized! For example -- The Jordanian paper, Shihan, also published the cartoon and urged Muslims to "be reasonable" in an accompanying editorial. The editorial, written by Editor Jihad Momeni―a former Jordanian senator―asked: "Who offends Islam more? A foreigner who endeavors to draw the prophet as described by his followers in the world, or a Muslim with an explosive belt who commits suicide in a wedding party in Amman or elsewhere." Momeni was later fired and arrested. I know that not everyone that is a muslim agrees with those that are rioting, making death threats, etc. However, the people that speak out against it are also targeted. How can I believe that Islam is the "Religion of Peace" when there are enough muslims that are radical to overthrow the moderates?
In conclusion, I think that the cartoons really should have been published. There is a great deal of backlash of anything that is critical of Islam (see the case of Theo Van Gogh), but that the cartoons themselves were over the top. However, the response from the islamic counties and communities has done more to damage their reputation than the cartoons did.
Sorry for the lengthy response, I will try to be more terse in the future. How much information about this conflict has reached Japan? I would be thankful to hear your reaction to it as well.
>>639 Don't be sorry. I find your postiong very interesting.
Yeah, I think you are right. Vandalism is not Ok with me. It reminded me of what happened in China last year. Tens of thousands of them got out of control and threw hunchs of stones to Japanese embacies and wrecked havoc, when prime minister Koizumi paid a visit to the Yasukuni shrine (which visit I don't agree with, though). Anyway, concerning how much information has been broadcast, general information is known to us, though I must have missed a crucial part. I didn't know it's a government run newspaper.
From the media I saw, a lot of muslim immigrants have lived all around Europe and they've been faced with great hardships, mostly their lack of money, along with many religious things like they are banned to wear scarve to school in France. They've been frustrated. And a TV broadcaster said extreme muslims have been upset about Iraq..
In any case, however, I'd say they should stop vandalism, because it might cause another retaliation one after another. They are ringing their necks now..
I agree that immigrants to nearly any country are going to face hardships. There are certainly other religious garb that is not allowed in schools. Many different immigrants are going to face discrimination as well, I do not think there is much (probably some) specifically targeted at muslims. There certainly is tension between muslims, immigrant muslims, and citizens of some European countries.. mostly with valid concerns on both sides.
It's a difficult question, you know. If you don't know about the dicipline of Islam, you don't know why they get mad when Muhammad was drawn. All I know about the picture of their religion is that it's a blasphemy or something if you draw a picture of the God himself and maybe the guru, and that they prohibit it.
So I can understand to some extent that they felt indignant. But that doesn't mean I'm for them to destruct other nation's property. Those extremests suck. They don't know what they are doing. It's primitive. They should know better than to resort to threats.
>>644 Yes, it is a delicate issue. Some people have compared it to not eatting beef because it would offend a Hindu. I do not believe that this analogy is wholly accurate. It would be more a kin to slaugtering a cow in front of a Hindu to piss them off. I understand why they (JP) did this though. People have been walking on egg shells around Islam from fear of retribution, which should not be the case. Yes, I can understand why Muslims woud be upset by them (I will set aside the fact that Muslims themselves have depicted Mohammed and the prohibition is more about idolatry of Mohammed instead of Allah, from my understanding.). However, the punishment must fit the crime. Calling for the execution of the cartoonists is not just or rational. I know that there are many Muslims that are being rational and peaceful, but there is also a large group that are not. If Muslims really are worried about their reputation they should be the ones shouting down the extremists instead of being drowned out by them. Yes, it is a difficult, complicated issue; however, I believe that I can see all sides of the issue even though I am not Muslim.
>>645 There seemed a lot more for me to know about.
>Calling for the execution of the cartoonists I didn't know they asked for execution.. Out of mind, aren't they? The Japanese media, at least the news I watched, said they wew calling on the Danish goverment to appologize for the cartoons, and also said that was out of the point. And, according to the newspaper, a sunni leader tried to talk extremists down. I don't know whether it worked or not, though. Anyway, both sides need to calm down.
Let's put it in perspective. There are democrats and republicans in the U.S. From what I know, they are opposed to each other about what America should be like from top to bottom. And some were, or have been, against the Iraq war. Others are not. So if American communities are split up, it's no wonder Muslims' communities are. (I don't believe the US would lose control of itself or at least ask for death penalty in such a case)
Come to think of it, Japan-China relations at the time may seem similar. I have something in mind. But that's not the point here, isn't it?
Finally, I know a fine word doesn't help, but we have to respect each other.
Japanese media often use stereotype depictions of foreigners such as whiteman with long nose or blackman with oversized lips and gorilla like face but no one ever complains...
I wonder if some CIA agents might be encouraging the riots because only USA and England make benefit out of such events. Their oil companies are making record high profits thanks to high oil prices. You know what Bush administration is. It is not a good situation for China, Korea and Japan as the countries are heavily depended on the oil from Arab world.
I recently read a book named "Fast Food Nation" translated to Japanese. I learned that meat processing oligopolistic firms in US were quite tough on workers. A lot of immigrants, sometimes illegal, work there and their political situation is very weak. Department of Agriculture of US has lost its power to oversee workplace safety and food-safety, which includes BSE and Escherichia coli O157. Keep our eyes open on US that controlls Koizumi, Takenaka and Japanese media.
They are not intellectual. It's just that we become serious sometimes. Generally, I like to talk about idols, but not always. I make it a point to use this thread when I'm in the mood for discussing serious or alarming matters. Don't you think people need to be thinking hard from time to time?
>>631>>633 Thanx! By the way, are you in Japan now? Are you accessing this BBS from Japan?
I'm from Japan. And I am high school student, so I have a lot of homeworks everyday。・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。 For our ages, it is very glad to talk with foreigners in English.
>>665 I'm neither 631 nor 633. But looking back on what I was like in your age, I admire your English. I didn't even write a bit of English at that time.
People say one cannot emphasize too much the importance of learning English and that we should put our mind more to it. That said, most posters here in the English board wouldn't even try to write in the language, though they love to argue about how to hone their English skills IN JAPANESE. I am sorry for that. Well, anyway, the point is, we should make the most of the Internet. Hope you will keep posting here.
I'm afraid but I've been in only Japan and I am just a Japanese college student in the second year. Anyway, your English ability is good, I think. Keep studying.
I was ill for one year. I was too exhausted to practice English. I do not know why learning a foreign language needs so much energy. Don't you know an easier way to learn English? (I am Japanese.)
It may be a good way to relate learning English to your favorite or interesting things. For example, I like to sing American or British songs, so I try to understand what they say (this is listening practice). Then I endeavor to comprehend waht the words mean (this is reading practice).
But, these are just an oppotunity that give you motivation of learning English. If you really want to be good at it, you must study step by step. Don't give up! The very effort will necessarily result in the improvement of your English ability!! This is based on my experience.
I also think 629-san is goooooood! Perhaps he/she is more good of English than me :-) >>668 I try learning English just now. :-) I have been acting learning English under a policy which I don't get quality but quantity. Of cource, I sometimes check up my ability. I try to read many books mainly because I consider to grow up ability needs to get information (e.g. reading books and listeing to something). To put information (e.g. writing and speaking messages) is based on getting information.
It is hardly to read books at first but experiences of reading affects skills. Abundonce for vocabrary to read books needs more than 2000. Having this abundonce is easy reading books/urls for native kids and ESL. For example, Spetial Engish of Voice of America, http://www.voanews.com/specialenglish/ , constructs within 2000 words. Although I have never tryed 音読 at the beginning on my learning process, 音読, I think, is probably more effective. Optimal method for learning is diffrent between persons because of personality. Therefore, you should seek a good method for you. :-)
>>673 I'm only know a handful of words(hi, bye, sorry, thanks, etc) and am not and have not studied Japanese. That isn't to say I might not in the future, but I have my handsful with German and Latin already.
>>678 I forget the winter game in Torino opens this week. I do not expect persons wether or not they win. :-) But I pray to bring them good results. Of cource, many Japanese contain massmedias expect that Japanese player win games. I do not give them strong pressures and think they have a fun during the game.
I predict Japan will have three gold medals and two silver medals from the game.
I also feel it less impressive recently, like >>679.
Why? I think that, because some other worldwide sports events that include the same items as Olympics have become so popular that I feel almost every year they come up.
Especially, World Championships of track and fields, or of swimming. Then, the impact of Olympics has coming lower than the decades ago.
I have join to both here and "chat in English". Surely, these threads are same propaty. If here were the early stage, here could discard. But It may be imporssible that here discards. Here is a middle stage contains about 690 comments as well. I suggest that we will join there when here come to the final stage, instead of making a new thread.
Thanks. But in case you didnt know, many freaks used to be talking about idols like YUKORIN(I dont know who she is) a lot here.It is pleasant for this kind of people to be here these days. Ohh ,it is time to go to get a haircut. Bye!
>>695 You shouldn't have done it. I know. Talking about idols is fun, yes. I love it. At the same time, though, as I mentioned before, we are here to talk about something else here. This difference seemed to strike you as pleasant, but it's not that a big difference to me. I enjoy chatting not only about idols (you may call it unpleasant), but also as to what's happening today.
>>690 I know what you mean. Whoever was going to use this thread when it was set up, we've been talking over what seemed like more serious matters. Yeah, it makes quite difference. It doesn't sound wise to stop using this thread at the middle of it. It goes without saying that we'd better reach 1000, and if there's our need at the end of this thread, we could start a new one.
Then next, concerning the olympic, more committees voted against baseball and softball. There seems no possibility to bring them back to the 2012 olympic now. Japan is strong with both of the sports. Excluding them means losing 2 medals. What do you think about it?
There is a topic to discuss about idols, http://academy4.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/english/1121246074/l50 . But, this thread has dead. I knew english@2ch has the thread before a couple of days. I am not interesting in idols etc as my message which I wrote on "chat in English". However here and there is thread chatting about any thing. Whoever I think about, they might as well talk about idols etc on "chat in English".
>>675 humm. To make a new thread after this is over, we retain the same problem. Thereby, the new thread has those who say about the problem sometime. But if managers of this board permit, we might use a new thread. :-) -- about baseball/softball:
I think its decision is a little sad. It is the fact that Baseball and softball do not spread widely. We have to solve its problem. I don't know how softball spreads but how baseball spreads a little. For example, Yoshida Yoshio, ex-tighers-manager, managed Franch baseball national theam. Anonymous of Japanese teach baseball to Africa nations. These seeds may bloom after a few dicades. I think baseball/softball cultures need to be widespread in particular of Europa and Africa.
A problem to spread the world is that tools, globe, bat and ball, about baseball/softball is too expensive for developping countories. It is a obstacle.
>>698 I see. If more and more people all around the world don't try to get into the baseball communities, things won't change at all. We need to get as many people involved in this let-baseball-in-the-Olympic activity as possible, as long as the committee take votes to decide on what sport events are hold. On this ground, it sounds nice to hold the baseball world cup, which championship will attract a lot of attention from the world.
Hey,you gotta be kidding me right??Im not get angry:) Actually although I was a man,I would be shoulder length haired for a period of university student.By the way Its so difficult for me to make a response in English...please someone point me out.
hey hey hey I made a painful discovering during this year! I am bisexual!!! that means it's hard for me to be with a girl! maybe I am even a gay!!! or maybe I am wanna be.... drag queen!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!
>>703 How come you are coming to this thread? I hope you will go back where you belong.
I don't want to talk about idols here. You are supposed to talk about them in the chatter in English. You don't know what you are doing. You don't know what you want.
>>702 You once were a man, but now you are a woman? Sorry, I'm just joking. Alright, I can guess what you were getting at. You went to a barber today and had your hair cut short.
>>736 You don't have to be open-minded if you don't like, but you need to be deplomatic with people. It would be rude if you are hard on them when you talk with them. Perhaps, you should get rid of your mental illness or something. Take some aspirine. What do you say?
If it was Reina or Miki caught doing the same thing it would be just as expected, but because it is Kagobon it's sansational and interesting as a story. That attracts people's attention again to the girls as they play being in sorrow and distress, that is also a good story I think.
if she’s stressed out on life she should get psyche drugs from a shrink and stay off the cancer sticks. It’s too late now I guess. Although her smoking is a bad example to the other (especially younger) girls in HP, all I can say is this whole things just shows, once again, they are human like everyone else. I don't think badly of her; hopefully this will blow over without too much damage
Tsuji better be careful. A friend and I have come to the conclusion that this is the Mini Moni curse, which is a mutated strain of the Love Machine curse- brought over by Yaguchi. She's a carrier! Don't let her in any more groups!
>>769 What deal do you think he might have cut with such organizations? Few people don't know what's done behind the scene. Horrible, isn't it? Maybe the murder of his subordinate is at the very center of this case.
He said money could buy even humans minds, which a bunch of Japanese people found very silly and terrible. I, for one, wouldn't bring myself to deny it. The media almost worshipped such a idea. He is not so much a reformer as a criminal.
Suguri Fumie might win a gold medal. I'll see her graceful performance on TV. Yes, I like her a lot. I remember she said in a TV variety show a few days ago that she was not seeing anyone now. I wish I could ask her out and got married!
The three of the female figure skaters are very popular among us, in particular, A, Miki. But I prefer Suguri Fumie. She possesses great capacity for entertaining audience with her performance. I've been enchanted.
She was chosen to get in the Olympic because of her perseverance in the face of adversity. As a matter of fact, she overcame it to make sure her participation.
I watched the opening of the winter games of Trino. I guessed トンバ put on the flame as the final runner. But the fact is not correct. トンバ ran on the track as a runner. トンバ is known as an Italian regend of skieres as well.
I don't know about the guy. I watched it on TV as well, but truthfully, I was being very absent-minded. What interested me most was people in red costume with fire buring from their back heads. It was very impressive.
Hope Suguri will mark the highest score and win a gold medal.
Indeed Aiko Uemura is cute, but her forehead is wide a bit. A look of Osuga's eyes is what I like. Please tell me hot girl whenever you find in olympic. Then I'll give you my melty kisses.
>>788 Thanks, but I watched on channel 44 (NHK) in my town. I wasn't glued to TV doing some other things. I think I missed some impressive points. However, it was really brilliant.
I'm gonna give you a proverb that suit you. "there's no accounting for taste," If you ask a hundred people which of those girls is prettier, probably three-fourth will reply,"of course aiko uemura"
>>797 You're contradicting yourself, aren't you? Some might say Uemura is preferable to Suguri; others(including me) would say Suguri looks far prettier. Is that it? The proverb you quated means just what I say, right? You need to put things in perspective.
In today's medicine, a woman's sexiness is said to depend on the amount of female hormone inside the body. If a woman's blood has a higher level of female hormone density than other women, she looks sexier than they do. The look of a woman's body gets more feminine (for example, bigger breasts, a round hip) when female hormone is activated inside her body. If you think a woman is sexier than other women, you feel something more feminine in her. In other words your brain detects the higher level of hormone drainage.
>>806 How educational! So I find Suguri sexy because I might feel her hormone. It sounds rational.
If I sniff her body odor, I will be more enchanted with her. In other words, I like her not so much because of her looks as of her female hormone. Yeah, I suppose so. Well, then, who's your favorite olympic female athlete?
It's too bad that Uemura Aiko failed to live up to our expectations. If only she could given another chance. However, I hope all Japanese citizens will give her a big hand when she come back here in Japan, because she might have done her best to be successful. Her efforts happened to fall through this time, but still she deserve an A for effort. What's more, if she sticks to it for the next 4 years, she will be participate in the next olympic. Don't you think so?
The torino olympic seems not so exciting to me, though of course there are lots of pretty and charming girls getting into it.
Snow board games are being broadcast now. Speaking of it, do you know about Imai Melo? She looks mature for her age, and as you may know, Melo is something of a poet. She performed onstage in front of many people before flying to Italy. An advertisment of a magazine I saw in the newspaper said her rap lyric was horrible enough to make you annoyed, but I don't think so. Her heart-warming lyric is moving. I hope she becomes more bold and goes for it.
Hi!Ive watched olympic TV program because I dont like winter spoets so much. But I like japanese Olympic prayer in particular Sayuri Osuga.Nagano olympic used to dirive me exited!Harada,Kasai,Funaki,Okabe. It was not too much to say that they were heros.Torino Olympic still havent made us burnig so far.
>>806 I don't agree with you. if sexiness depends on the amount of hormone, how come 808 feel that suguri is sexy and I don't feel so . according to your opinion, everyone should have the same feeling toward "the woman".
Anyone, please let me understand. What is different between the word "go" and "come"? I considered "to go" as to move toward more further area, and "to come" as to move toward nearer place. But native English speaker use these words in the different point of view. When he or she goes to somewhere with me as a supervisor, he will say to me, "OK, I'll come with you." It seems to depend on how it is said, in other words, what is a subjective. Of course I can look for dictionaries and so on, but I would like you to teach me because of my lesson. As you know, my English is confused, so I'm very sorry for it. In addition, if you can, please correct my grammar.
>>817 Don't worry. We will respect each other. And your English is making good sense to me.
If there are two people who are having a chat or something and one of them says "I'll go", then he will leave the other for another place. They will part. I mean, the other guy will not follow him. On the other hand, if he say "come with me", they will go somewhere together.
To go means to part in this case. On the other hand, to come means to get near.
If your mother says "dinner's ready!" and you are in your room, you may say, "I'm coming, Mom!". You're getting near to where she is. And after you are finished with the meal, you may go back to your room, where she is not with you.
二人称への接近するときに使われるのがcome、逆に離れていくときに使うのがgo.
>>814 Sayuri Osuga. Yes, she looks pretty and yonger than she really is. I like her too. But as I said several times before, I'd rather go for Suguri Fumie. Her performance in the Olympic must be superb. She is so lovely.
>>816 Cool it, please. Maybe there's another factor about how female hormone works. I don't know very well about it, but I'd say it depends on what kind of hormone a woman has and how much of it. Her hormone seems very influential to me.
oh,what a difficult question ! I wonder how many people could answer your inquiry in English. of course I'm not the one who live up to your expection. but, I advise you to study English grammar alittle bit more. for example ,"somewhere " is a adverb ,so that you should delete "to" from your sentence. wow, nitpicking is fun !
>>818 Thank you for your explanation. It is very clear, so I can understand the difference more.
>>819 Thank you for your correction. I forgot at all the word "somewhere" is an adverb. So I can say "someone goes somewhere," is it OK?
And may I ask you all other questions?
We, of course including you and I, are now reading this article (thread). So we are joining this thread. What should I call those who join or read a certain kind of articles? What is the most proper expression? A "reader" is OK? What kind of terms is used in the forein BBS, do you know?
Next, when I want to express some name, feeling, situation or others but I don't know the appropriate words or sentences, How can I ask anyone the correct expression? What sentences can I use for it? I usually use "Can you express the words?" or "What can I say for such a situation?", but I don't think it is so good, I think it is rather incorrect.
>>820 You can say "someone goes somewhere," but it's a very vague sentence, and most native English speakers wouldn't use that as a complete sentence. They might say, "At the train station, when someone goes somewhere, they have to pay before they get on a train."
A person who makes a submission to a thread is called a "poster." Someone who reads the thread but doesn't post is called a "lurker."
If you can't explain the feelings you have or the situation you are in, make your best attempt, and then say, "I have difficulty fully explaining it," or "I don't know how it translates," if you know how to say it in Japanese but don't know how to explain it in English.
There really are a lot of slang and idioms on English forums. I would have a hard time coming up with an exhaustive list, unless it was a specific board I frequent. In general though, you can look up something on urbandictionary.com for at least an idea. This presents a problem though, as many of the definitions contradict and some are flat out jokes or sarcastic. I'd be happy to answer any specific inquiries you might have though. A thread devoted to colloquialisms and such might be useful.
>>818 I saw Fumie Suguri. She isnt the kind of girl I like. By the way Ive seen a web site of gallary.Gallary of Sayuri Osuga. Cafully seeing her face,SuddenlyI perceived I had made a significant misttakes. She isnt so pretty so much.I had been deceived. But I seemed to like her attitude of hanging out.
I can't make this out. I don't feel like doing anything. Don't say don't give up. I have a lot on my mind. Even if something comes up. I won't do it. I'm fed up.
We are going to meet at 8 p.m. tonight. He boasted about the outcome of the skating match yesterday. It really got on my nerves. But I fotgot him, because he was so charming.
What's incredible! This forward is great. I have two eyes but I play football a little. But He is a professional player! In Japanese baseball, a handycaped man play on Dragons. They give a lot of people brave.
I will have been in absent since tomorrow. I am tired joining the English board of the 2ch. Disucussing about something, I want to lead it toword optimistic solutions and to get good ideas from it. Whatever I make effort of, these oppotunities are no mean. Negative power 2channelers has reveals significant problems. In generally, these problems would be in Japanese.
But, I have no solution how I can lead 2ch to good places which a lot of people joins safety. Therefore I will leave here. good bye.
When I watced the movies some actor and actress often said 'whatever'. AlthoughI looked up this word in the dictionary I had no idea completely. 'whatever' What is the meaning of this only word?Someone, would you like to tell me the meaning please!
Everybody's got a point of view And the right to their own opinion Don't be scared what I'm gonna do when you let me know your intuition No one makes you think that I want get it No one makes you think that I want get your love tonight Speak your come and let it out Give it to me you know that I can take it Speak because the more you say the more I know I'm at easy C'mon, Don't keep me waiting now I don't wanna guess, Not a test, Tell me what you thinking Keep it real, Know at deal, Tell me what your dreaming Speak let it out, Breathe
>>895 Whatever can have many meanings. What was it in response to? Even then, the tone matters a lot. It can be either used to express apathy, disgust, lack of interest.. many things. If it was pronounced more like whatEVer, it is most likely used in a dismisive manner.
I'm senior at the university in electrical and electronic engineering. Recently I've made up my mind to go to a graduate school of communication engineering, I have to pass the entrance exam which will be execute around August. The exam is composed of special subject and English. I've not ever been good at English, so I have to study it hard from now on. In particular, I'm anxious about translating sentences from Japanese into English because I can't come up with appropriate word. nothing is more better than learning many vocabulary by heart?
I'm just only talking to myself. Here is the back of handbill, isn't it?
I'd like to advise you not to carry you notice quite often. Although I'm not familiar with 2 channel system,I often see your notice interrupt people's conversation. So if possible ,I expect you to accept my offer.
ZOMG I GOTS POWNED ON ZA INTARNETS!!! I FEEL ASHAMED NOW AND WANT TO CUT MYSELF!!! You didn't have to be such a twerp. All I did was offer my services.
I recognize your sarcasm, but did you recognize mine? Firstly, this is the internet and I could care less about being grammatically correct. Secondly, the poster before me was rude so I responded sarcastically.
well,I admit that I was rude enough to respond to you. I apologize to you for that. but it was not my real intention.as you said this is the internet, so I posted my message irresponsibly. Sorry, forgive me.
303 名前:L2VL ◆ilMFhy8AUA :2005/10/30(日) 22:47:20 That necronation guy is ever developing its cheep way of pretending to be many different people. Just "do not touch the suspicious posts" is the best way. Ignore it and its posts, this is what I'd like you all to do.
>>945 how can you say that? I didn't get any clue "She is a man " of course ,there seems to be no chance for me to talk to people from abroad in English.
Go ahead and talk, man. I'm still here, in the states, and its 9:22 in the morning. I don't know how else to prove it to you, just take my word that I am the real thing.
>>949 of course I'm not making fun of you. I'm just veryyyyy surprised to hear you live in the U.S. I'm not proficient in English enough to be able to communicate with you. so you should look for another person .
It's itimidating to say it like that (??) I'm not skilled enough to have a conversation in english with a native. Someone please keep this person company.
I've been visiting here for only a few days and I've been flamed a few times. No one has stolen my identity yet, but give it a few weeks and I'm sure someone will.
I came here tonight because I was banned from 4chan and wanted to see if this version was just as crazy and rabid. From what I have seen so far it isn't. The forced anonymous in /b/ makes that place nuts.
From what I see in the other threads here, people are flaming each other quite a bit. I don't go to 4ch, but it sounds like the same shit, just this is in Japanese.
Sigh, I think its about time I got off the internet and actually started on what I've been putting off. I have to write some poems for an online creative writing course lol. BTW sage is cruise control for cool.
