President Bush called for a cap on medical malpractice awards yesterday as a way to control soaring premiums for medical liability insurance that have sparked protests from doctors in several states. But the president's plan seemed far too narrow to solve a multifaceted crisis, and the limit he suggested -- $250,000 for pain and suffering -- is too low. While changing some parts of the nation's tort system may be a good idea, it has to be part of larger, more fundamental reforms that will benefit -- and be fair to -- both doctors and patients.
Tort reform is actually a sideline issue, but the health care industry is not going to address more critical problems as long as doctors and hospitals have the occasional outrageous malpractice award to complain about. So some changes might make sense, if only to move the conversation along.
In their haste to rescue doctors and spite the Democratic-leaning trial lawyers, legislators need to make sure that any limits they set do not beleaguer a patient who has suffered truly grievous harm from negligent care. A $250,000 cap on pain and suffering seems hardly enough for someone rendered paraplegic by a careless doctor. A sliding scale of caps or guidelines for judicial awards would be better than a single rigid ceiling.
Now observe what has happened. The family as it really is is a conventional arrangement, legally enforced, which the majority, because it happens to suit them, think good enough for the minority, whom it happens not to suit at all. The family as a beautiful and holy natural institution is only a fancy picture of what every family would have to be if everybody was to be suited, invented by the minority as a mask for the reality, which in its nakedness is intolerable to them. お願いします。
The high caliber of English on business means the ablity to speak English on a daily conversation level to the full, not being well-versed in the business terms or having the experience and the knowledge on business. When you are talking with your friends and if you don't know a word, you can ask "What does it mean?" and get the meaning of the word so that keep conversation going. In business, however, you don't have a moment to do that. I mean, there are few peope who graduated from Kansai Gaidai University and who have good command of English covering business category as well as a daily situation.

We call this sort of fancy picture an Ideal; and the policy of forcing individuals to an act on the assumption that all ideals are real, and to recognize and accept such action as standard moral conduct, absolutely valid under all circumstances, contrary conduct or any advocacy of it being discountenanced and punished as immoral, may therefore be described as the policy of Idealism.
Get a regular deck of cards (BICYCLE IS BEST) and shuffle it. Then have a spector choose and card he/she wants. While he/she is doing this FINGER BREAK the top two cards of the deck. Then take the card and slip it in between the little gap you left it adds an extra depth to it, to make it look like you put it in the middle of the deck. Then do a DOUBLE LIFT of the top two cards and flip them over. It then shows their card on top. Flip it back over and do once again the DOUBLE LIFT and slip the supposed card in the middle really not in between the cards. The real signed card is already on top.

So how can people tell if they have too much fat deep in the belly? Peeke offers a simple, do-it-yourself test.
"Take your fingers, touch your pelvic bones, contract your abdominal muscle wall and you can basically just kind of sneak it across, right across your abdominal muscle wall and see if it's your abdominal muscle wall that's sticking out," she said. It's the fat that pushes those muscles out.

Certainly the Japanese, with their suspicion of verbal skills, their confidence in nonverbal understanding, their desire for consensus decisions, and their eagerness to avoid personal confrontation, do a great deal more beating around the verbal bush than we do and usually try to avoid the "frankly speaking" approach.

Worse, they risk sending other rogue states the perverse message that the way to receive lenient treatment from Washington is to develop nuclear weapons. 【One reason Pyongyang's defiant provocations are met with diplomatic overtures while Baghdad's mix of cooperation and evasion elicits threats of force is the strong suspicion that Kim Jong Il already has nuclear weapons while Saddam Hussein does not.】

But boy, has it been exposed to the storm over Wall Street. Jack Grubman, a former telecom analyst at Citi's Salomon Smith Barney brokerage unit, has been accused of hyping stocks in order to win investment banking deals for the firm. CEO Sandy Weill was pulled into the fray in the fall when it emerged that he had asked Grubman to take a "fresh look" at AT&T's stock. Grubman said in an e-mail that his children were, thanks to Weill's efforts, admitted to the prestigious nursery school at New York's 92nd Street Y after he upgraded AT&T stock in 1999.
In a settlement agreed to last month, Wall Street firms are to pay about $1.5 billion to end the investigation into charges that analysts issued glowing reports to win lucrative banking business for their firms. Citi will pay $400 million of that -- more than any other firm. A final settlement has been delayed as regulators hammer out details.
Summer is a good time to experience the moon illusion because the full moon never gets very far above the horizon. (The Sun and the full moon are on opposite sides of the sky. So when the Sun rises high--as it does during summer--the full moon hangs low.) Tonight's full moon, the first of northern summer, will hug the horizon long after moonrise.
A fun activity: Look at the moon directly and then through an aperture of some sort. For example, 'pinch' the moon between your thumb and forefinger or view it through a tube, which hides the foreground terrain. Can you make the optical illusion vanish?
If you do make it disappear, you'll soon want it back. The moon illusion is too lovely to miss.

Like Snelson's sculptures, cytoskeletons have tensegrity--short for tensional integrity. They balance compression with tension, and yield to forces without breaking. In the Needle Tower, the wires carry tension and the rods bear compression. In a cytoskeleton, protein chains--some thin, some thick and some hollow--take the place of wires and rods. Linked together they form a stable, but flexible, structure.
"The cytoskeleton perceives gravity--or any force-- through special proteins known as integrins, which poke through the cell's surface membrane," explains Ingber. Inside the cell, they're hooked to the cytoskeleton. Outside, they latch onto a framework known as the extracellular matrix--a fibrous scaffolding to which cells are anchored in our bodies.
Ingber and his colleagues have shown that when integrins move, the cytoskeleton stiffens. They did it by coating small magnetic beads, about 1 to 10 microns in size, with special molecules that bind to integrins. They attached the beads to the integrins and then applied a magnetic field.

Once: upon a time, a perfect man and a perfect woman met. After a perfect courtship, they had a perfect wedding. Their life together was, of course, perfect. One snowy, stormy Christmas Eve, this perfect couple was driving their perfect car along a winding road, when they noticed someone at the side of the road in distress. Being the perfect couple, they stopped to help. There stood Santa Claus with a huge bundle of toys. Not wanting to disappoint any children on the eve of Christmas, the perfect couple loaded Santa and his toys into their vehicle. Soon they were driving along delivering the toys. Unfortunately, the driving conditions deteriorated and the perfect couple; and Santa Claus had an accident. Only one of them survived the accident. Question: Who was the survivor? (Scroll down for the answer. Trust me, it's worth it) Answer: The perfect woman survived. She's the only one who really existed in the first place. Everyone knows there is no Santa Claus and there is no such thing as a perfect man. **** Women stop reading here, this is the end of the joke. **** Men keep scrolling. So, if there is no perfect man and no Santa Claus, the woman must have been driving. This explains why there was a car accident. Men Keep scrolling By the way, if you're a woman and you're still reading, this illustrates another point: Women never listen.

Some observers believe that Japan's present happy condition of relative stability, efficiency, and contentedness is merely a transitory phase resulting from a fortuitous but temporary blend of inherited virtues and newly acquired skill, which will probably change over time into a less desirable mix.
Admittedly, history has helped us learn the appropriateness of addressing certain issues, particularly moral ones, on a societal level. Attenmpts to legislate morality invariably fail, as illustrated by Prohibition in the 1930s and, more recently, failed federal legislation to regulate access to adult material via the Internet. We are slowly learning this lesson, as the recent trend toward legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes and the recognition of equal rights for same-sex partners both demonstrate.
However, the overriding lesson from history about social ills is that they are here to stay. Crime and violence, for example, have troubled almost every society. All manner of reform, prevention, and punishment have been tried. Today, the trend appears to be away from reform toward a "tough-on-crime" approach. Is this because history makes clear that punishment is the most effective means of eliminating crime? No; rather, the trend merely reflects current mores, attitudes, and political climate. Also undermining the assertion that history helps us to solve social problems is the fact that, despite the civil-rights efforts of Martin Luther King and his progenies, the cultural gap today between African-Americans and white Americans seems to be widening. It seems that racial prejudice is here to stay. A third example involves how we deal with the mentally-ill segment of the population. History reveals that neither quarantine, treatment, nor accommodation solves the problem, only that each approach comes with its own trade-offs.

The Lake District is the central mountainous area of Cumbria in the Northwest and has some of England's most beautiful scenery. Several other names are used to describe this area, for example Lakeland, and the English Lakes. Since the Lake District is a National Park, there is special control over building, to make sure that the beauty of the countryside is not spoiled. Nearly one quarter of the Lake District National Park is owned by the National Trust.
The National Trust is a charity, which means it is financed by ordinary people who pay to become members. It is not financed or run by the government.
The Trust was set up in 1895 by three people who thought that industrialization could spoil the countryside and ancient buildings of England and Wales.
Today the Trust is the third largest landowner in the country. It owns about 586,000 acres (almost 2,400 sq.km.) of land. Its properties include famous gardens, whole villages, farms,wind-and water-mills, lakes and hills, abbeys, prehistoric and Roman antiquities (including part of Hadrian's Wall), important bird sanctuaries such as Lindisfarne Island in Northumberland, and examples of industrial archaeology.

Procrastination is not well researched because we're way too busy. But the United States has developed procrastination opportunities to fill an entire six-month season. It starts with putting off holiday shopping and cards, slides into putting off paying holiday shopping bills and fulfilling New Year's resolutions, then Valentine's cards and gifts and merging seamlessly with putting off income tax preparations. There's even an unconfirmed historical report that the signing of the Declaration of Independence was originally set for June 28.
Also, talking about procrastination is useful. It enables many procrastinators to consume all available time and put something else off because pretty soon you're too tired from talking about putting it off to do anything but put it off again until you can rest a bit, which somehow doesn't require putting off. Look, we're almost out of space already.
The very newness of this holiday should not obscure how old the cause it commemorates really is. Today honors the life of a man who was murdered, still young, in 1968, but it also honors a quest for civil equality, embodied in his life, that began the moment the first black slave landed in the new world. The revolution that we call the Civil War -- a revolution against the past -- was really a chance to see whether a nation could rebel against its own history, against the pervasively racist assumptions that helped shape that history. It's hardly surprising that that revolution, unlike the original American Revolution, is still incomplete. Throwing off the shackles of another nation is easy compared with throwing off the shackles we forged for ourselves.

1.We identified the system’s constraints: They are the Blue resource and the market demand for product A-the free product.
2.We decided how to exploit the constraints: The Blue resource schedule has been set to guarantee satisfying the market demand. We are going to pay particular attention that the Blue resource will follow this schedule without hic-ups. And we are not going to forget satisfying the market for the free product.
3.We are going to subordinate everything else to the above decisions: ・All resources will be on autO-activation (without permission to use common parts). ・We are not going to complicate our life with artificial work-orders. ・Above all, our attention will be on the Blue resource and the free product,A.
4.We are not yet going to take any actions to elevate the constraints since we don’t know if the Blue resource will continue to be a constraint and we are not from marketing.

Now suppose the rich get richer, and income inequality gets worse. Time to vote." Does Business Week really think that's the argument - that opponents of the Bush plan agree that it will do great things for the economy, that the increase in inequality it will cause is their only objection? In fact, those who oppose the Bush plan think it will work no better than the 2001 tax cut: that it will do little for growth or employment, and will sharply raise the deficit.
When this spell is cast the entire party is checked for spells they have memorized and items they carry. This allows the caster to know everything magical that the party possesses and possibly, prepare for them better.
Since only the sun and moon made light,I have known you. I watched you from the once vast, impenetrable forest. I was witness as you discoveres fire and strange tools. From ridges,I watched you hunt, and envied your kills. I have eaten your scraps. You have eaten mine.
I have heard your songs and watched your dancing shadows around bright fires. In a time so distant that I can barely remember, some of us joined you to sit near those fires. We became part of your packs, joined in your hunts, protected your pups, helped you, feared you, loved you.

You probably wouldnot call a parent a child's "owner". well, now, some folks don't want pet owners calling themselves"owners"either. In fact, they're trying to outlaw the term. Is it politecal correctness you want to mock?? Or could it make a difference?
If a picture paints a thousand words, Then why can't I paint you? The words will never show the you I've come to know. If a face could launch a thousand ships, Then where am I to go? There's no one home but you, You're all that's left me too. And when my love for life is running dry, You come and pour yourself on me.
If a man could be two places at one time, I'd be with you. Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way. If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die, I'd spend the end with you. And when the world was through, Then one by one the stars would all go out, Then you and I would simply fly away お願いします。

(1) However, such developments have had little effect on basic Shinto attitudes and values. More crucial to Shinto's survival, therefore, have been its deep roots in the daily and national life of the Japanese people and a strong conservative strain in Japanese culture. The Shinto world view is fundamentally bright and optimistic, as befits a religion in which the main deity is a sun goddess.
(2)Two aspects of the mythology are particularly noteworthy. The first is its this-worldly orientation. Other worlds are mentioned in the mythology -- the High Plain of Heaven, for example, and the Dark Land, an unclean land of the dead -- yet we receive only the haziest impressions of them. Blessed with a mild climate, fertile seas, and impressive mountain landscapes, the early Japanese seem to have felt little compulsion to look far beyond their present existence.

This paper describes the findings of the ethnographical research concentrating on multiplayer games. Theoverall goal is to study the interaction in these networked multimedia environments. The focus is in findingout how the player teams interact and whether the current games provide enough possibilities for teaminteraction, either inside the game world or supported by real world communication. The research methodsused are qualitative. The end-users were interviewed using open-ended and semi-structured interviews andthe game playing sessions were observed. The main objective is to acquire general understanding of teaminteractions in the context of the research. The preliminary analysis indicate that, according to the players, the support for team interaction in action games is adequate. However, the players tend to communicateoutside the game system. Furthermore, the players tend overcome the limitations of the systems byinventing various imaginative ways to communicate, co-ordinate and co-operate. This indicates that there isa need for additional interaction support. Especially the more serious team-oriented tasks seem to requireseamless multi-modal interactions to guarantee the success of the team.

Twenty-five years ago, in the Bakke case, the Supreme Court banned racial quotas as a form of affirmative action, but Justice Lewis F. Powell Jr. said that race could be a "plus factor" for minority applicants to colleges and universities. So it has become, more or less. In top-level politics, however, race hasn't exactly been a plus. Since the court's ruling, major-party black candidates for governor and U.S. senator have won just two of 23 contests. (Jesse Jackson and Doug Wilder also failed in bids for the Democratic presidential nomination.) Only Wilder, running for governor in Virginia, and Carol Moseley-Braun, running for the Senate from Illinois, both as Democrats, have broken through. It's a depressing tally by any reckoning.
Scientific advances are also opening up possibilities from research into embryonic “stem cells”, which can turn into other types of cells and may thus help to regenerate damaged organs. But much of the material for this work to date has come from aborted fetuses, so pro-life activists have vigorously opposed such research. They scored a partial victory in 2001 when President George Bush placed tight restrictions on federal funding for stem-cell research. Similarly, pro-lifers oppose human cloning, even for the therapeutic purpose of generating stem cells, on the grounds that no one has the right to play God. This issue is about to come to a head in Congress, with legislation to allow tightly regulated therapeutic cloning to be introduced in the coming weeks. On all fronts, the battle is raging as fiercely as ever.

So even when trains are few and far between, they are by no means crowded. Rather, the more frequent they are, as in big cities during the rush hour, the more likely they are to be crowded. But outside the big cities, or outside the rush hour, you can usually find an empty seat and even, on long-distance journeys, an empty compartment all to yourself. ちょっと長いですがお願いします
