It would seem, therefore, that nanotechnology offers the promise of a happy future , but we have to be aware of the fact that , as with any new technology , there may be dangers.
She looks as young as she is (actually young). She looked as young as she was (actually young at that time)
She looks as young as (the age) she really is She looked as young as (when) she was at that time(or when she was 20 years old) これはShe looked as young as she did at that timeとした方がいいけどね。 She looks unbeliebably younger than (the age) she (really) is. The dish looked very nice, but was not. この「was not」は as 〜 asの比較になってので、まったく別物。
She looked as young as when I met her ten years ago.
She runs as fast as she really is She ran as fast as she was at that time She runs unbeliebably faster than she really is.
The thing we last need とかThe thing we need last Please repair it as soon as possible. The last thing we need is a broken TV.
She looked as young as she did when I met her twenty years ago. はOK。 She looked as young as she was when I met her twenty years ago.は she was when I met her twenty years ago. She looked as young as she was. She looked as young as (when) she was youngとか She looked as young as (when) she was in her high school.
それに、もしshe wasを使うなら、(when) she was she was youngみたいに補わないと駄目だし そうじゃなくても、「(when) she was 〜」と「when I met her twenty years ago」で 二つwhenを並べていて表現としても不自然なんだよね。 She looked as young as when I met her twenty years ago. She looked as young as she did when I met her twenty years ago.
She looked as young as she was when I met her twenty years ago.
>>404 (A)This book is worth reading over again. This book is worth being read over again. This book is worth being read over again.
It's worth reading this book over again.なら問題ないし、 実際こういう表現を使うことが多いんだけどね (itは仮主語で、it = reading this book over again) This book is worth reading over again.
>She looked as young as she was. She looked as young as (when) she was young の方がyoungが冗長。 She look youngとshe was youngを比べているんだが。

THE death of Ana Carolina Reston illustrates the dangers of anorexia.
Anorexia has an appreciable death rate (up to 10 per cent) and even in patients who don’t die many are permanently damaged. Ana Reston also suffered from bulimia, a much more common complication of anorexia over the past 10 to 15 years. It increases the danger of serious metabolic disorders as the recurrent vomiting alters the body’s electrolytes and biochemical balance. It is also very bad for the teeth, destroying the enamel.
Although Ms Reston was still six stone(=38kg) she was tall. In her case renal failure was her cause of death. The kidneys, and other vital organs, need at least 800 calories a day to function efficiently, but her diet would also have been seriously deficient without the essential proteins necessary to maintain the structure of them and other vital organs.
A correct balance of proteins, fats, hydrates as well as vitamins and minerals would have been needed to keep Ana Reston’s metabolism working, even if the protein lack hadn’t induced kidney failure.
Anorexia has been quoted as being ten times more common in women than men but there is evidence that this gap is beginning to close. The proportion of women anorexic patients who are also food faddists, like Ana Reston, is also much higher. Food faddism is only one form of food obsession; in other patients it may not be so much exemplified by the pursuit of an odd diet but an enthusiasm for cooking, taking photographs of food or even becoming a food writer.
Anorexia is characterised by a distorted sense of body image, and how much fat they’re really carrying. As a result of this they have a horror of putting on weight for fear of becoming of obese.
Other factors associated with anorexia and eating disorders include a depressive nature, a family history of eating problems and domestic problems at home.
