I think the U.S will attack on Iraq in near future. The U.S used to be equalize its position between Palestine and Israel, at least surface, but now the U.S chose the side of Israel after Sep 11. I believe that the U.S intelligence agency holds confidential information that Iraq develops the fatal weapons. This information may not be right, but it does not matter whether it is true or not because it justified war against Iraq. Rest of world, especially Moslem countries will be suspicious about the U.S inspection and tension will raise among the whole world. It may trigger the WW III. Now, it is the time to consider the what law and order, peace, security of our nation, Japan.
In Thailand, every 100 miles you drive outside of Bangkok, you will see this little signs put up right by the agricultural field. The little sign has the shape of "M," which seems hfamiliar to all of us. Yes, it is the logo of Macdonald. This multinational food chain shifted its agricultural field (for potato) from America to Thaniland, seeking cheapter production cost and, of course, cheap labor. When the huge "Mac field" was created there, of course with an support of the Thai government, many villagers who had lived there for a number of years, were forced to relocate themselves to another area, where the land was so infertile that most of them ended up moving to Bangkok for work and lived in the slams. Prostition was the only means of earning income to many young girls who were unskilled and uneducated. Even for young boys, prostition was common because many wealthy men and forign tourists prefer to explore their sexuality with these boys in this exotic world.
Thai government has this educational policy that promises to provide equal educational opportunities to all children, regardless of their economic status. The law says that the government will provide a school to any group of parents who need a school for their children. Thus, legally speaking, these children in the slam could demand a school for them. However, the trick is that children must be registered with the government. All the children in slams are "illegally" squatting in the slam area. If they register with the government, they will be prosecuted and forced to return back to the place where they were from, the infertile land that Macdonald pushed them to live in. Because of this rule, many slam kids ended up not registering and continued to deprive themselves of the only means that could help them out of the impoverished situation.
This story should make us to think about the dire consequence of eating "cheap french fries" at Macdonald. By comsuming Mac french fries, we are literally "eating up" these children's access to decent education and decent life and the very body of these boys and girls. In today's highly commercialized and capitalistic world of consumption, it is not easy for us to make this crucial connetion between our act and its consequence. It seems almost impossible (but not quite so) to find out how our daily act, which seems just ordinary, could lead to oppressing children in another part of the world. The key is how we extend our imagination and try to "critically" examine how the capitalist production system operates and understand the fact that our daily consumption is also part of this oppressive scheme.
Some of you may argue that it is not our responsibility but these multinational companys'. In response, I would ask you if eating "cheap french fries" is essential for your survival. Are those greasy fries that tastes like "shit" so essential for your life that you can justify depriving these children of decent human life in another part of the world? It boils down to the issue of morality.
This kind of story is not specific to Macdonald. Any multinational companies that have relocated their production facilities to so called "the third world, " do pretty much the same thing. They do include many Japanese multinational companies, as well.
Having read this story, what would you do? Is this going to change your consumption behaviour or are you going to stay as you have been? It is simply up to you but I just want you all to become more consicous of this sort of issues and also to become more "critical."
I want you all to imagine how the civil rights movement in the United States started in the early 1960s. How did it start? It was Rosa Park, a black civil right woman who refused to sit at the back of a bus that was designated for blacks and who took her courage to sit on the first row, which was reserved for whites. She stood up for her belief in justice and eventually succeeded in raising people's consicousness about social injustice against blacks.
I do not wish to sound too romantic about what an individual can do for social change. I fully understand how little an individual can do to change our society for better. However, if you reject any possibility of an individual action for change, then where do you think we can start? Any social movement, regardless of its size and impact, has started from a group of a few people who are concerned about certain social issues. That is always how any kind of social justice movement starts.
I do not wish you to imagine that you just by youself can stop multinational companies from exploiting and mistreating people in another part of the world. That is just unrealistic and imagining so would simply overwhelm you and possibly make you more indifferent to issues like this. It will make you feel like saying "I don't think there is anything I can do for this." But if you stop eating at Macdonald and tell your friends why you do not eat at Mac, that will influence others. That will get them reflecting upon their daily consumption and how it is related to oppressions happening in another part of the wrold. As a matter of fact, my sharing this story might have changed your consumption pattern. This is how slowly but steadly a movement expands.
Let me tell you the worst thing you can do. You continue to drink coffee at STARBUCKS and eat french fries at MACDONALD, while making a donation to charity organizations that aim to save children in "the third world." Giving money to charities will make you feel "as if" you have done something good to these people.
To me, this is the worst kind of hypocracy and I do not wish to see you guys doing this.
>>61 If my argument is not still convincing, that is fine. Like I said before, it is up to you. But don't forget one important thing. When you drink coffee at STARBUCKS and eat fries at MACDONALD, you are "enjoying" the food and drink "at the sacrifice of others." Just imagine, no matter how hard it might be, the existence of people and children who are forced to live under an inhumane condition. You are part of the cause that gives them suffering. If you find it difficult to imagine, make a trip to Thailand and India. That will blow your mind off.
10% of the world population (most in the advanced nations, including Japan) use up close to 70% of the world natural resource. 80% of wealth in the U.S. is owned by less than 10% of the population. Similar situation, not to the equivalent extent though, is happening in Japan with the gap between the rich and the poor widening every year. It may be the high time to think about what kind of society, what kind of economic system we live in. Like it or not, we are part of the system, part of the root cause that creates this situation.
I want to kill myself. Everybody blames for me at various reason. I am lazy and untalented guy. I do not have friends. Let me know how I can solve the problem.
I think we have done enough talking about Startbucks and Macdonald. Please do not misunderstand that everything will be fine if you avoid consuming foods from these two companies. No, that is not my point. The point that I was trying to get at is the importance of seeing things critically, seeing things from multiple perspectives, and challening our taken-for-granted assumptions to see how things are so inter-related in our world.
Let's think about the role of media in the current debate about the U.S. going into a war against Iraq. I think media has played a crucial role in shifting the terms of the debate. The focus of the dabate is no longer about if the U.S. attack agianst Iraq can be justified but simply about "when" the U.S. should go into a war. Media discusses the possibility of Iraq developing nuclear facilities but none of them hardly talk about other reasons for the U.S.'s interests in taking over Iraq. What are the other interests? One of them, probably the most important, is OIL. We also need to understand how Bush and the vice president have been closely linked to American major oil companies. In a time like this when the most powerful nation in the world is so self-interest-driven, we need to critically examine how mainstream media serves the interests of the U.S. government.
>>67 Let me respond to your comment on "truth." I agree that it is difficult to know what "the fact" and "the truth" is. This is partly because the way we understand the world depends so much on media. As we are all aware, no informaiton that comes out of media is neutural in its strict sense. Given this seeming impossibility of reaching "the truth," many have given up the idea of doing so or some even go as far as to deny the existence of "truth" and "fact." They would say it is just a matter of "interpretation
>>67 As much as you need to be critical of what Macdonald and other multinational corporations tell us what they do for profits, you also need to be critical of what the critics like me tell you about what these corporations are doing. We need to learn to "suspend" our judgement and continue to seek for more knowledge. So, what is your response? What is your interpretation of this response? Have you done any research to go find out what is really going on rather than what "they say" is going on? Truly valuable knowledge is never going to be given to you. It is something for which you have to go out, hit books, and talk to people, and do some document analysis. You still have to tell us what you think about this.
>>70 Yeah..I really agree it. I think so too. The Economnic sircumstances and American interior furustration states shows very bad forecast and really bad. Pussying me so hard to going these.
>>70 There is a good example of the history controversy issue. While some, like Prof. Fujioka (I hope you still know this guy.) argue that Nanjing Massacure did not even take place, others say 300.000 people, mostly chinese civilians, got killed. As most of the hard evidences such as documents and pictures have been destroyed and gone missing, there seems to be no way of accurately knowing exactly what happened and how many got killed in Nanjing.
What do you think? Do you think we all should give up the idea of searching for "the truth"?
>>73 > What do you think? Do you think we all should give up the > idea of searching for "the truth"?
In general, all we can do is to investigate unclear things by carefully collecting pieces of "facts" and "artifacts." We should neither "invent" the truth, nor "deny" existence of undiscovered evidence.
I'm not sure but I've heard of some written record of the massacure. If so, we might be able to evaluate the reliability of each artifact by cross-checking and picture the consequences. Although I don't know any details of the massacure, I would say the above is the way of science.
>>73 Hey, Yo, dude!!!! Before talking about the fucking history, you'd better master how to use prepositions in Colorado!!! Go back to the High, man!!!
Britney Spears Seeks Restraining Order Mon Dec 09,11:02 PM ET LOS ANGELES (AP) Pop singer Britney Spears asked Monday to have a restraining order imposed against a 41-year-old Japanese man she claims has been stalking her since September.
I do not have a crue where to start debate, but I make my arguments in arguments from the beginning:
(1) Thai Farmars First, commercially growing potato in Thailand does not sound right. I think this is a mere and unsophisticated artifacts. Potato production requires cooler climate than you think. For example, big potato growing states, like Idaho, Oregon, Washington or Hokkaido even, provide ideal potato growing climate; relatively cool and dry summers. Florida or Texas were never been big potato producing states due to their climate. On the contrary, Thai climate provides completely opposite; very humid and hot all year around, compared with ideal growing environment, Moreover, it takes more efforts to consolidate small batch of farming land to suit to potato production. Even if Thai capitalist wanted to introduce potato production in their soil, multi-national corporation would not take the idea purely due to doubtful productivity per investmented dollars. Their objective is to maximize their profit from minimum operating costs. Potato growing in Thailand would harm their profitability. And THE FACT: potato price has been low; cheapest potato can be produced in the US simply because of mass production in potato states. There is no need for McDonald's to search for alternative source of potato since they have full access to cheapest potato available. In my opinion, seeking cheaper supply in tropical countries, if any, would not last long at the board.
I know this is not your point of discussion, but this point would reveal your credibility. Can you prove otherwise with FACTS?
continued from >>124 I made several errors in spelling or some mistakes in sentence.
Second, McDonald's wants a low profile in anywhere they purchase their raw material. It is very hard to believe McDonald's posted signs that tells they farm potato ahywhere in Thailand. Since McDonald's targets their main clientele to children and accompanying adults, there is almost no result in prevailing them at the scene of supply. Their market strategy specifically targets children to train their tastes to pro-McDonald's. Part of their vastly successful campaign is "kids meal". Accompanied adults may have broader opinions as to their operation, for example yours. They do not want to lose their royal customers bacause of viased opinion in their guardians. Therefore, it would be wise for McDonald's to hide their identity at the supplier's side to avoid direct campaigns of anti-McDonald's. In marketing points of view, advertising themselves at the sources does not produce enough appearances; it actually harms them, as I argued in here.
continued from >>125 Third, McDonald's would be far better off by consealing their identity at the sources of supply. As you may know, McDonald's oursources almost 100% of their raw materials to vendors. To create competitions among vendors, McDonald's needs to hide the sources. Outsourcing the materials usually gives cheaper yet higher quality products available. For instance, "french fries' are outsourced to big corporations, like ConAgra and ADM. They control potato farmers in western US with massive buying power. Even if these companies decided to farm potato in Thailand (or anywhere), dedicating their farms to one company would not be a wise choice. This would prevent them to sell their products to other customers in variety of reasons. Also, owning farms anywhere by McDonald's would not be a viable option since they can outsource the supplies economically.
In closing of part (1), based of my findings about farming in Thailand, your arguments does contain many artifacts. It seems very compelling to innocent general public, but misrepresentation of facts harms your valid arguments later.
>>131 You know what? I bet c-flx2.Colorado.EDU is just a flak. He surely writes pretty good english only in his own context. On the other hand, he just disappears whenever some "learned" person comes in and starts talking. Furthermore, I don't think his logical constructs are well organized. That's why I don't think his essay will get good grades except ESL writting classes.
I haven't read any news papers for a long time, and I don't even watch TV 'cause the school works are killing me, so does anybody know that Bush decide to attack Iraq?
Let's put verification of Thai farm case aside for now.
My counterpart's argument contained very interesting subject; multi-national corporation and their greeds. He argued that purchasing products produced by multi-national corporation, for example McDonald's or Starbucks, would render poverty to communities serving to such corporations, and I respectfully oppose to such view.
First, as you know, "In Capitalism We Trust" became world-wide belief after disintegration of red eastern bloc , especially USSR and DDR in early 90's. As you know, Chinese finally admitted "third class" citizens into their party; North Korea is not immune from this tidal movement. Solialism and communism, unfortunately, lost their audiences, for now, at least.
Many coutries, including Japan and many under-developed, want to emulate US economic system to prosper. One of the basic components of capitalism lies in absolute guarantee of private ownership. Private ownership can be achieved, only if free economic activities are warranted in system. In plain term, if you can buy something cheaper than the others and can sell higher than the others, you win.
Today's capitalism supported heavily by huge expansion of credit line and havitual mega consumption is much different from simple Adam's law. As investors (capitalists) and management/operation are highly divided, investors' primary concern is to generate maximum return from their inventments, while management/operation side faces classic contradiction; how to keep equibrium between given rules and demands from their investors. Also, there is a big dilemma; how to compensate work force well.
Here is the example: Average US household earns $30,000 pa (I think this must be lower than that, though. Amount is irrelevant), while average Chinese household earns $3,000 pa. Simply speaking, US household is ten times richer than those of China. Is this true? NO.
In the US, one dollar can buy one-dollar-worth product. In China, one dollar can buy one-dollar-worth product. Same, isn't it? NO.
In the US, one dollar's worth is 1/30,000, while value jumps up to 1/5,000 in China. This suggest you one dollar can buy more products for Chinese household. If you compare basic cost of living in China with those of US, cost in China is much cheaper.
In the US, thanks to huge expansion of credit line to general consumers, i.e. credit cards, mortgages etc, enabled them to spend more than they can actually afford. Having taken this situation into consideration, average US household can spend more than $30,000 in theory. US economy is set this situation in mind, while Chinese economy relies on less consumer credit line, because China's national policy of state ownership still remains valid, although it eroded recently.
Here is a question: If US multi-national corporation can manage their operation without disturbing Chinese economic status-quo, does this simply mean "ripping off Chinese people"? I do not think so.
As I analysed, there is a huge gap between two countries. If you take $100 dollars to China, this would worth more than twenty times for average household. Yet, average household has never been put into survival game in China, therefore, they exist.
Suppose you build factory in China in an attempt to lower your production cost. Average labour cost is ten-times cheaper to support average household. Is this a bad thing? Absolutely not. This is because Chinese people have been living with average household income to support their livelihood in their country.
Suppose Thai situation you provided is true (I have already put strong doubt and it may be a hideous lie), should you punish multi-national corporations for their seeking business in Thailand?
Legally, there is no problem. At least Thai government supproted this scheme. Demand met supply, that's it. Multi-national corporation should not be held responsible, at very least, legally in Thailand. Imagine how these farmers who had owned fertile piece of land compensated. I think they are compensated at market price in Thailand. Maybe more incentives to move out. Since McDonald's is multi-national corporation specifically targeting children and accompanying guardians, negative image does harm them severely at their biggest home market. This is the classic example of fear to influence by general public. Therefore, they want to keep their profile low at purchase, high on sales. In short, they are afraid of negative campaign, like you did before.
Morally, I am not in a position to discuss about moral in their acts. However it may sound glossy, McDonald's has never acted illegally, provided this scheme was suppoted by Thai government. McDonald's could have done better to enhance their image by putting more funds to more symbolic yet functional matters, like school in the community. Decision not doing such is at their sole discretion, not by outside propaganda.
to be continued.....
By the way, prostition (sic) is the oldest business in human society.
Now, we go into the core subject: Does your purchase give negative influences, whether or not in direct, to the people where multi- national corporations do business?
In many cases, multi-national corporations' appearances in any area are positively taken by many people living around this area, particularly in under-developed countries. In most under-developed countries' cases, deep root of poverty is that there is no decently compensated jobs around the area. We, Japanese, experienced, too. Many trains come to Ueno station with full of youngsters seeking jobs. Jobless society in rulal area supported prosperity in Japan. They see the very same scenario in multi-national corporations. Usually, these workers are very well compensated, as opposed to your belief. Because of public opinions about "sweat shop", decent corporations, especially well recognized companies, do not employ such operations.
Because of lost competitive edge of wage level in Thailand, many corporations shifted their operations to China or Vietnam. Infrastructures are not in first-rate in China or Vietnam, but you can find ambitious workers in both countries. Only advantage to operate food processing plants in Thailand is the hygiene issue.
>>60 This is my last argument. You are telling us not to donate any charities while patronaging multi-national corporations. Maybe, you will never get the point until I give you the truth now:
Charity became the mere merchandise. People buy better feeling by donating some money to charity. Actually, charity in Britain started in this way. Good cause became a product. While they buy (donate) $100 to "Save the Children", for instance, donator feels "Oh, I did a good thing", although less than 20% would be allocated to actual good cause, 80% would go into administrative expense. Good cause, for example save children in third world, is highly attractive product for charity. Administrators polish their products as attractive as they can, as if they were making Ferraris.
Yes, you are right, QUOTE- Giving money to charities will make you feel "as if" you have done something good to these people.- UNQUOTE. They are buying a good time, as if they have bought Montecrist No.7 or Chateau Margaux 83 or Fonseca 63 or all combined.
More importantly ( or it may be the most important for haves), if you buy a good time from registered charity, same amount is deductible from your taxable income. Even in a strict sense, you can buy a good time FREE.
I completely agree what you said about Nanjin (Nanking) massacre. Without valid facts and evidence, there is no proof what actually happened. I could not believe there was a massacre of that (claiming 350,000 people) size at one place in relatively short time. Only places that I know of are HIROSHIMA and NAGASAKI.

I think the US government should apologize to the Japanese people for atomic bombs and killed thousands of inncocent lives as a result. I also think that the international community should prevent the US from getting involved into regional issues such as the nuclear facilities in North Korea, Israel-Palestine disputes. We must realize that the US is made of a morbid thought that controls all the nations in the world. I am sick and tired of white, kinky sons of bitch blaming peope for what they are.

>>438As I can see by your words, you must be very close relationship to CHONS. You know when CHONS feel inferiority to the Japanese? Then they try to establish the CHON revolution against to which they felt inferior to, which is Japanese, but all they could do is to blabber their crappy theory. That situation is very similar to yours. Ohh poor thing, you must have some cirtical past between you and your unpleasant but superior Chritianity.
We should no longer tolerate the ignorance and egocentrism the US governement has long taken it for granted. We, as citizens of the international community, oppose any kind of the US involvement in domestic affairs. The US today is established based on thousands of innocent lives in developing countries. They are theif, crook, murderer, rapist...whatever you name it. We shall not allow the US to continue to kill people in the world for their own benefits. Justice is on Iraq's side, period. God bless Iraq and the US should go to hell and be burned in fire.
i wounder when united states government would start invating north korea is it gonna be next year? next next year? well who knows personally, i hope such a event would happen as soon as possible so that japan would no longer be threatened by their missile
Bush is picking fight everywhere, saying the US miritary is capable of fighting with two countries at the same time, which is true. We must stop this fucking bandalism by the US and its two million ingnorant son of a bitch and establish a international force against the US. We MUST do this sooner, or we all end up letting the US sucking up tax money from the Japanese government. Remember, the US is killing peple using OUR MONEY.
>>492No, I think both South and North Korea should collapse. And I defenitely disagree that US should collapse because they have invented many things that is important to our daily life. Korea, they have invented nothing nor shall invent anything in the future. And they are very annoying creatures and stinks like kimuchi. So their existance is a piece of crap, and we should rely on Iraq or any other country to drop an atomic bomb at them.
If you are like a lot of people, you believe that racism is wrong. So let me tell you a couple of things I believe will surprise you.
FIRST, the 'racists' are RIGHT. And SECOND, I can PROVE IT IN JUST ONE SENTENCE.
My proof stems from the fact that racial matters are never genuinely debated today, because the only thing you ever see in the major media is the politically-correct 'anti-racist' viewpoint. The 'other side' is never allowed to make its case, ie, THE 'RACIST' SIDE IS SUPPRESSED. And you sure as hell can't have a debate about race if one of the sides is never allowed to speak. So here is the one-sentence proof that the 'racists' are right:
THERE IS NO REASON TO SUPPRESS A VIEWPOINT UNLESS IT IS TRUE, because a false viewpoint can easily be combatted with facts and logic, while truth cannot be combatted except by lies which are vulnerable to refutation.
Or to put it another way, the 'racist' view HAS to be suppressed, because if it weren't, MOST PEOPLE WOULD BECOME 'RACISTS'!
>>532 >Or to put it another way, the 'racist' view HAS to be suppressed, because if it weren't, MOST PEOPLE WOULD BECOME 'RACISTS'!
I think your opinion is right. I've been brainwashed so many yeas that racism is wrong. But what's are happening in Japan? Now in Japan, Japanese can't control our own motherland. Big korean cult sokagakkai, sgi is controling this country. This is the result of all what you said. Japanese gov. act like korea. They never let us know what's happening here in Japan. I know they are afraid of being killed by korean sgi.
>>532 First of all, show the illustrative evidence that will verify "racists are right". As you wrote, racial matters are not genuinelly debated today, which prevents us from considering racial matters. Moreover, because the idea of anti-racism has dominated our society, we are not easilly allowed to debate about it. I agree with your argument above. But to verify your argument, you need to show evidence.
>>542Thats right. First of all before determining which race is supurior or inferior, what I believe is that race matters in everyhting. Both nagative and positive. But blacks... they are absolutely pathetic and not an essential existence in this mankind world. http://www.melvig.org/files/100/100facts.html
since i have been living in the u.s for years, i understand what you are saying. sometimes, i really feel to be fed up of stupid things by BLACK. and it's such a annoying things that it seems that they do not even try to improve their life.
however, i still do not think it's because of the color of skins. i still believe that we are not much different when we are BORN. have you had a chance to read the book "Guns, Germs and Steel"? i think that what the book says really makes a lot of senses.
in short, i do not think we are free to blame them by their color, although the annoying facts that you mentioned.
Socisal superiority/inferiority are determined according to the enviroment people are raised. I know a lot of blacks who are intelligent. They have been educated in good enviroment. In this meaning, education is also important things. I cannot say anthing from biological aspects. But considering social/histrical aspects, I can say the White is not necessarily superior to other races.
>546 tottaly agree with you and i guess a lot of people also do. however it seems that many people still want to beleive that the white are superior to the black... like 543... sigh...
>>555 The chief reason that the Wite are said to be superior to the coloured people is strongly related to their historical background. In the 18-19th century, having their technology, the European nations such as France and England dominated the overseas. On the contrary, because of their tecnhological inferiority, the other nations were easily allowed to be ruled by the European nations. Verbal domination is also one of the main factors that verifies that the White are superior to other races. Nowadays, the number of people who use English as an official language is still great. Of course, the structural simplicity of English can account for the reason above, however, verbal domination obviously account for the argument of the White superiority. あれ??イラクの問題は??
Koreans now spell it Coreans. They believe Japan had them spell their country begining with K so that Japan comes before their country when you list countries in alphabetical order.
Hi guys! I am newbee here. The idea of this bbs is very cool but we need some rules. I guess the primary objective of this bbs is to practice English, isn't it? Hi,I'm 25 years old. Although I was penniless, I saved 3,500,000 yen in two years by the on-line casino and pachinko till last year. Try at once! Although it is only the first time, if you buy a 1-dollar or more tip, 30 dollars (about 4000 yen) can be got. It can also convert into money, without giving and playing as it is given. If you bet on red or black decisively by roulette, it will double by 50% of probability. If you've no money, it will be as what is necessary is just to carry out a game off-line.

He also expressed that, during his whole life, he firmly believed, just as the rest of coca growers did, that he had gained the comtempts of North Americans and Europeans. He happily declared taht this experience has “removed his blindfhold.” Only then, he realized that many of the people present belonged one of these countries, being there, listening, sharing ideas, and offering him their support. Nevertheless, let's not forget to mention the politics of Washington and the imperative need to unite the value for stopping the eradication of the coca leaves “The government of the United States wants to manipulate, and to continue manipulating, I therefore I tell you, "what do we lack to be able to face this? Courage? ? Do we lack dignity, friends? And by that dignity, we should fight to achieve ours objective”.

>>830 I think Sean Penn shouldn't have got fired from the new movie because of his anti-war activity. He lost a job because the majority of people support the war and don't want to see Sean Penn? If things go like this in the industry, how can actor and actress express what they believe in? Even if I understand the industry is running based on nothing but money, that's not right.

High rates of unemployment seem more detrimental to economy, because more serious concerns could be caused by them. One of the examples would be that when people lose their jobs, their personal spendings would inevitably fall dramatically. This could result in deflation, as firms would have to lower prices to sell their products. When production decreases, firms would lose their profits, which would result in more loss in jobs. Like this, high rates of unemployment would cause a negative economic spiral. Of course, high rates of inflation could also create a very unstable economic situation, such as bubble economy, which was seen in Japan in the late 80's. However overall, high rates of unemployment would be more detrimental due to the reasons described above.
