>>535 In Japanese, when we talk about brothers or sisters, we often use specific words like "ani" (big brother) and "otouto" (little brother) to clearly distinguish between older and younger siblings.
First, it depends on whether you're speaking or writing. If you're speaking, we differentiate ambiguous sentences like this with pauses. So for example, if 東京に住んでいるのは「友達」, I would say, "I met a friend ... (pause for 1 or 2 seconds) of a friend who lives in Tokyo." But if it's 「友達の友達」, then I would say, "I met a friend of a friend ... (pause for 1 or 2 seconds) who lives in Tokyo." And you say "a friend of a friend" a little bit faster, to kind of "group" the words together. Honestly, there are times when it's still not clear, and then you would just clarify explicitly. Like: "I met a friend of a friend who lives in Tokyo... Oh, I mean, I have a friend who lives in Tokyo, and I met a friend of his/hers." ...or, "I met a friend of a friend who lives in Tokyo... Oh, I mean, it's the friend of a friend who lives there, not *my* friend."
We get confused sometimes, too. :)
If you're writing, it's basically impossible to tell what that sentence means. I think we'd usually write it differently, like: "I met a friend of a friend I know/have who's living in Tokyo."とかなら「友達」 "I met a friend of a friend, s/he's living in Tokyo now and..."なら「友達の友達」

>>765 I was shocked to find my bicycle had been stolen yet again. The thief stole the main body yesterday from the bike rack at A Hotel, leaving the front wheel and wire lock behind. It was a red Giant with license number B*****. I'm uploading a picture of it to my web page. Please contact me if you find it (or have any information).

Terrible and dishonest. You'd better not to stay at this apartment. I had a trouble in payment.I booked the place online with my credit card. But there was some problem with the process and I was asked to pay directly to their bank account to complete the booking. Once I was back in Japan, I was shocked to find out that I was charged twice for my stay. So I rang up the apartment for refund, but they insisted that the refund was already made. When I told them also that my credit company did not receive any refund request from them, they became impolite to me and started to avoid any further actions on this matter. Now, they do not even reply to me.
The apartment itself was of a low standard. One can easily find much better and more comfortable appartments in Amsterdam. I had to pay a deposit when I checked in, but I still haven't got it back. (Their lame excuse was that there was no manager responsible for returning deposits.)
So in short, I was charged twice for the mediocre apartment.
Before this incident, I had a positive image of Amsterdam and its people, so I was very disappointed.
I am posting this review so that there will be no more victim of this scam.

I should have e-mailed to you much earlier. The fact is that I have been hospitalized for a considerable time. Oh! I have not been severely bad. Thanks. I am now quite okay, because you have supported me while hospitalized. >>903

本のストーリー冒頭で彼女の記憶と感情がまだ失われてない時でさえ、彼女がどんな性格なのかほとんど描写されてなかった。 They barely described her personality in the book, even in the beginning of the story that her memory and emotions had still remained.
What exact feelings she had toward A, or B? We can only guess. So yeah, I understand those people expecting so much from her simply disappointed when they found out she was somewhat a plain character. I don't think she is compelling enough either, but I still like her (and the art) a lot, though.

Attention!; Here you are not guaranteed to find accurate translations. Here. You would better avoid any important or easy-to-be-misunderstood sentences for translation from Japanese to English.
単語やフレーズは辞書を引いた方が早くて正確です。 極端な長文はやる気を無くすことがありますので、分からないところを抜き出しましょう。 Words or phrases are more accurately and quickly checked by looking at Dictionary. Extremely long sentences may discourage translators, so abstract the necessary part of your problem.
Don’t forget expressing your gratitude to translators. There is a possibility that your sentences might be wrongly translated if your Japanese expressions are fuzzy.
>>869 Free information desks are where you go for a guide to the nightlife/(night-time entertainment) in the area. Sometimes you can get special deals if you go through them. They mostly cover places where you can drink with women, like clubs, hostess bars, and lounges. Depending on the place, you might be able to have drinks alone with the girl, or sing karaoke. But unfortunately, I think if you don't speak Japanese you won't be able to go to most of them...

1. there are many environmental problems that we have to settle. 2. soon, we may be able to solve some (many) of the problems. 3. however, the most important issue is if common people have interest in the evironmental problems. 4. if we try the very best ; for exmple, recycling of paper and economizing of power, we can make differences. 5. it is the most important that every single and small efforts should be made by great amount of peple instead of big one made by few people.
