Ahh there was an interesting fact that "ponchi" was originally came from english. "ponchi" was a name of British cartoon magazine, called "PUNCH" jap pronounced it as PONCHI and that magazine had many sarcastic picures (because they were cartoons) which looked really strange and crazy. therefore people started to call crazy-looking/acting people as "ikare ponchi"

http://www.slowleadership.org/2006/12/avoiding-contagion.html quick summary: "Bad leadership and aggressive management practices are highly contagious. So are bad attitudes. If you spend your time around mean-spirited, aggressive, dishonest, and narrow-minded people, you will find that some of it will rub off on you. The same goes for listening to cruel gossip, constant backbiting, and formation whining. Like germs and bacteria, behaviors of this type gradually undermine our resistance and destroy our mental and spiritual health."
I've just watched an interview with Sawajiri Erika on the TV, and OMGWTFBBQ WHO THE FUCK IS THAT? In most of the Hong Kong peoples mind, Erika == The pure Erika in <<1 Liter of Tears>> Now, her Ayami look ruins all the dreams of her Hong Kong fans.

Nylon did not derive from the popular, but misconceived, myth that it was a joining of the names of New York (NY) and London (LON), but as a result of many committee meetings within DuPont. The original working name of the fibre during research was polymer 6-6. This changed via Rayon 6-6 to Fiber 6-6 in 1937. Many commercial names were discussed, among them Artex, Dusilk, Novasilk , NoRun and Terikon. NoRun was initially chosen, but the fibre DID run, so more work was required. From NoRun came Niron to Nyron. Then, after much deliberation, Nylon was decided upon, only 2 weeks before the product's official public launch.
I'd argue that MT isn't being weeaboo, it's just using a very fictional version of Japan. The artist doesn't seem so retarded he'd actually believe things were really like that.

The interesting one is a dog kept in the private house when often observing it when going to Sapporo. The dog of the kind of for food said, "AKAINU" unlike kinds of dogs kept in other regions etc. is kept. (Though an of course usual dog is more. )Most of the butcher in Sapporo dismantles the family dog in the commission of about 300 yen.
It is not unusual to eat dog meat(Boshintang) in Sapporo to eat horse meat in Kumamoto. ※Genghis Khan is alternative food of Boshintang from the time of the Sapporo Olympics.
In Sapporo, dog meat is sold and in general, it is widespread also in the supermarket. This also looks like the BASASHI custom of Kumamoto well. At home in Sapporo,"Sukiyaki" means the pot dish of dog meat . Please show courage and eat though there might be resistance for a moment.
It is assumed that it is a very inelegant thing that ask recipe ingredients in Sapporo.

>>280 Well, Koharu literally means "small spring (=小春), therefore, when we hear the name it gives us a warm feeling. Akane is the orangish-reddish color of sunset, which also gives us a nice feeling.
Definitely Yes. Even today, nomination in Christian world follows much more conservative idea than that in contemporaly Japan. Some recent Japanese names given only because of their sounds are far from their understanding.
Does the explain ' small spring (=小春)' make sense to non-native of the Japanese・・・ They should wonder what is'small' spring and whay 'small spring' gives the Japanese warm feeling・・・ A Chinese must imagine 'Poor and miserable spring' if you write 'small spring (=小春)'・・・・
>>287 These names emerged only from hippy movements, which challenged any common sense in the U.S. and Western Europa, during late 1960s and early 1970s.
>>286 小春 (Koharu) is usually used in the context of 小春日和 (Koharu Biyori) which means an indian summer day = a warm autumn day. I think this explains why people get a warm feeling by hearing the name Koharu.
Ideas behind names are very interesting topic when I talk with forigners. I have some Muslim friends, and their names originate from another idea. For example Abdullah, a common name among Muslim boys means 'The slave of Allah', or deep faith. Alif comes from the first letter in Alabic arphabet, seqentely it normally means 'First boy in the family'.
>>294 Yes. That's right. When I lived in a muslim country, 'Can I talk to Muhammad' or 'Can I talk to Abdullah' meant nothing, because there were at least two 'Muhammad' or 'Abdullah' in the office or class room. Even if I said ' I would like to talk with Muhammad Alif' , sometimes I failed to appoint the person. Actually I must say 'Muhammad Alif bin Jadual, please' (w

>>311 Yes. That's why those often are electrical lights instead of live candles, especially the younger the Lucia procession is. There never are any live candles involved in kindergarten, for instance. Though on more formal occasions, when live candles are preferred, it's just ne of the hazards that come with the job. Naturally there are people with fire extinguishers on standby when there are live candles are involved. Nobody wants to get the Lucia toasted.
>>314 How about it how? That could work, either by making the hair stay put down on top, and thus never reaching the candles. or putting the candles wayy up on stilts, to make sure they won't touch the hair. that would look a tad peculiar though. The former is prolly one of the better options for such a situation. Orrr, one could just use electrical lights, and not have to worry about the Lucia's hair catching fire.

And I did indeed assume that it was an abbreviation of sorts, and not a reference to the Swedish word, hence me stating it that way.
>>385 Ehh, sort of.... Wife, mainly. 'Fru Berg' is the equivalent of "Mrs Berg". So it can indeed work as a version of lady, but "dam" would be closer to "lady"
>>387 There's nothing wrong with not using an individual handle. Sometimes it's easier and quicker. It has its advantages and disadvantages.
>>386 where are you from? do you have ethinic pride as scotish? i read in the internet that not all the scotish is celtic historically. in the southern part older angro-saxon english has been spoken and preserved.
norther parts is famous for kilt and celtic music. but hirtorically and racially they were originally germanic? i heard scotish people in hignland are tall and have blond hair.
so scotland vs england is very confusing. it's possible they were originally germanic but converted to celtic , then back to germanic in language.

>>413 This will be a long post.^^ I live in Dumbarton, a small town in Scotland. I am proud of my nationality. The Scottish people were historically Pictish. The Picts are not Germanic in origin, however the Anglo-Saxons are. The Scottish language (Gaelic) is now practically non-existent. This is due to a ban on Scottish culture and multiple genocides imposed on us by the English. You're right about kilts and Celtic music in Scotland though. We may have lost our language, but we still have traditions and a unique culture. People in Scotland tend to be of an average height. Red hair is common. The Scotland-England rivalry stems from many centuries of oppression and warfare. Like I said, genocide, ban on culture etc.
In fact, I don't personally know anyone who wants to remain in the UK.
but england indideous inhabitants were Britons, who are also celts.still england has celtic land in itself ,which is Cornwall.
in souther part of scotland,Scottish language(scottish english) is spoken.scottish language is closer to old anglo-saxon language than english.i wonder how scottish language speaking people think about englishmen.they are descendants of anglo saxons but they are scotish.
i think it's probable that scots are mainly germanic in race .but celtic culuture gets dominant in that area.
i thought it was not always true to divide england and scotland only for cultural, ethinc agenda
the most decisive factor is they have their own kingdom?
i want to know scotish people's sentiments toward Ireland.
i heard scots came from Ireland.so Irland is father land for scots. do scots feel strong bond with Ireland? irish are kinsmen , but they are chatholic.
speaking of ireland,i wonder why white-chrstian english(british?) could do atrocious things to the same white-christian people( irish) irish people are white , chatholic.catholic is christian. subtle difference sometimes matters more?but i think english behaviour was exceptionally evil among european countries untill arrival of nazis germany.
>>416 Well, it can be argued that Scotland was forced into an illegal union with England, as the majority had no say in it.
The differences beetween Scotland and England exist because of the violent background beetween the 2 countries.
I personally have protested for independence from the UK, and as we approach the 300th anniversary of the Act of Union, support for independence from the UK has never been stronger.
The Scots language is Germanic, but that's not relevant to current issues.
We need independence from the UK because we cannot create the Scotland we aspire to and deserve without the full powers of Independence.
Scotland is a great country and a great place to live, but it could be so much better if we had the powers to deliver real change.
Scotland should be free of English rule. And it will.
>>419 You're right, there is a very strong bond beetween Scotland and Ireland. And yes, the behaviour of the English up until the rise of Nazi Germany was imperialistic and evil. In Scotland, we somewhat jokingly call ourselves a colony of the English Empire.
japanese word for great britan(united kingdom) is イギリス(igirisu).igirisu is originally from the "english or england". so for scotish people,it may be unadmittable..
i learned that tony blair, adam smith,,,and many other greatmen are scottish.but many don't pay attention to this fact, generally they are categorized as british,or wrongly as english at least in japan.
>>422 Yes... when I first began learning Japanese, the イギリス thing annoyed me.(-_-) A few languages make that same mistake... Scottish people generally object to being called British, as even those who do not support independence still have pride in being Scottish. Well if we attained independence, then we would be known as Scottish around the world.
>>423 Anglo Saxon = a collective term usually used to describe the culturally and linguistically similar peoples living in the south and east of the island Great Britain (modern England) from around the mid-5th century AD to the Norman conquest of 1066.
Nazi Germany = refers to Germany in the years 1933 to 1945, when it was governed by the Nazi Party, with Adolf Hitler as chancellor and, from 1934, head of state. Nazi Germany precipitated World War II.
Very sorry for being ignorant about European culture, but where do Vikings come into the play? I thought Vikings spread all over northern Europe including Scotland.
>>428 The invasions and settlement of Vikings from were one of the Scotland's most formative influences.
When they first arrived in Scotland at the end of the 8th century, the Vikings were only interested in conquest and plunder. However, the Viking invaders did not always destroy what they found. Many of them settled and converted to Christianity.
This continued unchanged until the 13th century when, following the Viking defeat at the Battle of Largs in 1263, Norway surrendered control of the islands, Kintyre and Man to Scottish control.
Norse control lasted longest in Shetland, which was ruled from Norway until the 15th century.

Hello, everybody. >スコットランド人 >I think that if I lived in Japan for a few years though, I would get used to speaking the language.
I don't think so. My friends who had not been in Japan sometimes use Skype or MSN messenger speak good Japanese. If you use Internet telephones (Skype or MSN messenger) which are toll free, you can easily master Japanese language.

I love the 2chan english boards because every english-speaking topic inevitably comes back to talk about breasts :).
What? I think you're a bit mistaken there, considering the fact that the culture of China developed using Japan as a base. This is the current leading theory, and it makes a lot of sense.
The British government has concluded that robots could eventually demand legal rights. I wonder if there will be intelligent robots, and if they will demand rights...

You'd think the British Government would have more pressing social concerns to deal with than concluding that machines deserve rights in an unknown amount of years.

I've found a thread entitled "Yamamoto Keiichi might come back!". Do you think he should come back? Personally, all he had done was horrible and I suspect he knows he can count on his supporters like Ishibashi Takaaki, Shimada Shinsuke, Matsumoto Hitoshi and so on. It's really disgusting.
Yama sama is cleared. He can come back. He earned 6 hundred thousand dollars a year before he was banished. He's not so funny, but he is a favorite of many big commedians. So he can come back.
...and so Yukorin returns to the conversation topic, like always... She must be pleased at not having been forgotten xD Her poor, poor ass. I'm glad I'm not a meme x-D
>>627 Yeah, I like Katocha in the Driffters most. But unfortunately,he came down with heart disease and hospitalized now. I wish he would recover completey and come back on TV soon.
They say that Kato-chan will soon die, possibly by the end of this year. He has led a life which is too bad for his health, eating too much meat and drinking too much alcohol. I read about it on 2ch, though.
Okusama wa gikokujin, one of the TV shows, is interesting. Many international couples (Japanese males and non-Japanese females) have appeared on the program. How did they know each other and how to overcome obstacles they had and what's their daily lives are like.. One thing I was surprised at was that a lot of people on the show live in rural areas.
>>647 It may be true that we can find more foreign people in suburban areas than in large cities. They are there because there are more job opportunities which require few skills, which they have come to Japan for.

>>656 Geez! You have a very clear insight, haven't you? I tend to be sexually excited about the young child, especially around 10 year-old girls. How do you know that??
>>660 I think the advantage of getting married to a foreigner would be, if any, that I might get a pretty blond girl with blue eyes, Honestly, I want to caress that pretty pussy cat!
>>610 What's the point of saving a thread like this, k-tan? As one Japanese commentator once said on TV, posts in 2ch are nothing but graffiti.
You have a habit of collecting cans and bottles thrown away on the streets since you are a kind of person who likes to save worthless scribbling in 2ch?
And why do you stick to the idea that this thread's number should be correct? I don't think if this thread's number was 72, 71, or whatever, the earth would stop turinig around the sun.
Form what number of thread are you a regular of the thread? I think I peek this thread from around 65 or so.
Who cares if it's graffiti? What about at Pompeii? All of it's walls are covered in graffiti, which are highly regarded by historians. And many of them are just explicit, simple messages, like "A fucked B here", or "For a good time, ask for A". We're part of history. The period of time we're in will always be known as the Age of Missing Intelligence, hehehe...

>>679 Sure, maybe in sub-saharan Africa. I'm not talking about anorexic girls looking good, because they don't. But there are too many girls who are chubby or plump, and who don't care. >>683 Yeah, but Britney Spears is disgusting. She's like an optical illusion. First look, she's cute. But then you hear about and see what she's doing. She's trailer trash. She belongs on Jerry Springer.
>>686 I don't know what or who Jerry Springer is, but I hear Britney acts weird as does a canadian young female rock singer whose name I can't remember now.
>>689 They all act weird. It's because they're teenage idols who are too old. They have all this money and not enough sense to know what to do with it, so they get drunk and do stupid things. Many famous idols and sports stars who are past their prime have similar problems, and they realise too late that the media will never leave them alone, even if they want to "settle down" and not be in the spotlight.
Oh and Jerry Springer is the host of a show which has the same name. People (usually from trailer parks and other low social areas) come onto his show with their problems, usually dealing with affairs and infidelity and stuff like that. It almost always ends up in a fight. If ever you go to America (or any western country, like here in Australia), you should watch it. It's very funny to watch.
>>690 I've been thinking about going to Turkey. So their girls are attractive? That's good. I like all the party islands on the Greek Islands too. >>692 Nope, never heard of it. Should I make a journey there while on my pilgrimage?
>>694 Ugh, yeh, sort of. Just a bunch of stupid kids pretending to be on the show. The real show is this. At least, it's the reason why most people watch it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?search=&mode=related&v=TGej9428t54 That's like a collection of all the best fights. Stupid youtube asks you if you're 18 first.
>>643 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme > The term "meme", coined in 1976 by the evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, > refers to a unit of cultural information transferable from one mind to another. > Dawkins said, Examples of memes are tunes, catch-phrases, clothes fashions, > ways of making pots or of building arches. So, as you see, Yukorin's vanilla farts is a meme here at 2ch
>>652 No. Marriage didn't hold any interest for me in the past. I thought I would live alone until I died, as relationships didn't really hold any interests for me. But now, I would like to get married some day in the future, only because of that marriage gives one internationally recognised rights and priviledges when it comes to one's partner, such as with doctors and such, in case of that one party becomes ill. It would break my heart to not be allowed to visit my partner if something seriously ever happened, in some other country where they don't really care about plain partnerships. So, marriage, no. Dating however, I had thought of that, not in the sense of any generic Japanese person for the sake of them being Japanese, but if a nice person comes along, then I wouldn't really have cared about their genetical origin. After all, the most vital thing for me in potential partners are their personality, heart and mind, not where they originated.
>>693 I just watched them on TV and yeah, I think they are exotic, as you know, Turky is the place where Europian people and Asian people were mixed. Naturally, their decendants look exotic.
>>698 meme is such a stupid word for this phenomenom. It's just a biologist who likes to apply his field to other things he sees. He didn't even discover anything new, he just renamed "fads" and "trends". He's just like those guys who made that religion for Star Wars; they try to apply something they like to other aspects or idealogies in life.
>>665 That depends on the person, really. Some people still look good when they grown old, others not. It depends on their genes and if they take care of themselves or not.
>>669 Sorry, I don't collect cans/bottles. They're not really interesting. I started visiting this board somewhere at part 22, over a year ago, soon a year and a half. (However, I would like to point out that my definition of grafitti is art, which is very different from random stupid spray-painted doodles, or some idiot just writing a tag. What I define as "grafitti", is the kind of spray painting that you look at, and immediately recognise that it took skill and imagination to create.) I find these threads interesting because I find the human mind interesting. I like the fact that these threads contain everything from serious and lengthy, thoughtprovoking/interesting discussions, to random silly memes.
I never imagined you non-Japanese ppl show interest in such a plain-looking girl like Yukorin. She is now a famous idol in Japan and you can't see a day without her on TV, but she was rather a sub-cultural star bred in Otaku culture. It is such a surprise for me that an Asian girl like her, not with any special talent or character, gets attention from foreigners.
>>674 There's no point in creating such a false contest. I look terribly plain, and I'm not interesting, so there's no competition there.
>>680 I counter your text with an altered 'copy-pasta' "I'm not talking about anorexic guys looking good, because they don't. But there are too many guys who are chubby or plump, and who don't care. On the other side of the coin, there are too many guys who are anorexic and care too much." Health is an issue for _any_ human, not just a person of a certain gender. Also, there are more and more anorectic guys in this day and age, so your text really works too well either way. Though I think it's a bit incorrect to focus on the appearance alone, because some people do look more plump than what they actually are, thanks to their facial shape, and fat distribution on their body. After all, where the fat is located matters a great deal. Two people with the same body build, same amount of body fat and same body size can look completely different, thanks to fat being stored in significantly different places/ratios on their body. I think that people should just focus on staying as healthy as they can, both physically and mentally. Good looks will follow.
>>701 Of course, it is. You might think the future is promised, but nobody can say what happens. I, from the bottom of my heart, care about you and so believe I deserve you. Don't say no. It'd be rude.
>>702 She is said to have a quirky personality. That probably matters a great deal. Hard Gay, for instance, he's caught the interest of some foreigners because of his bizarre antics.
>>703 I guess it's my own problem. I don't believe in anyone's sincerity, least of all of the opposite gender. Girls are fickle, and these days, everyone has their own agenda. Just find one that looks good, and work from there. If anything goes wrong, at least you can say "well, she looked good, so I didn't lose ALL my dignity"
>>704 Let's get all the 2chan'ers in this thread on Jerry Springer, and we'll fight for her (or for no reason at all) :)
>>705 There was a kid at the school I went to who loved acting like Hard Gay. Too bad it was an all boys' school... I'm glad I don't go to school anymore :). Truth be told, I never heard of Yukorin until I came to 2chan. And they were talking about her farts.
I think antics means clothing or behavior from what HG is like, for what it's worth, though, he hasn't appeared on TV recently because every one of us got bored with him. He's always doing nothing but shouting like that. Plus, it seemed he himself hated to do that.
We had a comedian here in Australia who used to act like a gay flight steward. He was very funny, but only for a short while. Now he is doing a different character. Such is the nature of comedy.
>>707 You didn't know why her farts caught attention from us? It's just off the top of my head, but about a year ago she showed up in a event where she let slip to interviewers that her fart smelt like vanilla when asked if she farts in front of boys. And after the event, tabloid newspapers reported it. It was really funny and surprising, you know. That's why.
>>706 My impression is that sincerity is less important in many places, and what matters there is that one isn't to winding up looking foolish regardless of what. I think that's a bad trend, as it promotes a lack of sincerity and honesty. :-( Also, for the record, honesty and sincerity is NOT the same as being rude. One can tell the truth without being rude about it.. Too many use honesty as an excuse to be rude and insultive. Also... _Humans_ are fickle :-p People try to kid themselves that they want certain things, because they feel they "should", in spite of not really wanting to. And then they flip-flop back and forth between the things they feel they "should" do, and the things they want to.
I always wonder what vanilla means, I mean, is it vanilla ice cream, or vanilla perfume. If it means the former, I rather hate it, but if it's latter, I'd love it :)
Hmm.. I think it's time for me to go and start cleaning/re-arranging my room :-D It'll be nice with some change. And in case I won't be back before tomorrow (xmas eve is the gift-giving day in Sweden):
/⌒ヽ, / <`O ⊂ニニニ⊃⌒⌒ヽ (*‘ω‘ *) | 〜 < Merry Christmas ( ) / 〜 v v ___ノ ⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒⌒
>>714 >What an odd thing to ask someone I agree. But the question was shot due to a flow of conversation then. I don't say the interviewer was serious, though.
>>713 Yes, but when people ask why I am not sociable, and choose to spend my time by myself, lone, why do they look surprised when I tell them I have no interest in forming unnecessary relationships? If I don't want to form any relationships, can I not follow my feelings? I want to, but it smacks of hedonism. Doing what you want makes you fickle and uncertain. Besides, doing things we "should" do is more to protect those around us, I suppose. When you live alone, you harm no one, but yourself.
I've read on the Internet that, although its social system is good, Sweden sells destructive weapons to dangeours contries on the dark side. Is that true?
>>716 But Darling! We shouldn't! We mustn't! Think of the prejudices of society! We're forever doomed to live a less bloody version of Romeo & Juliette, alas! I must leave you, and that with haste! Au revoir, my darlings!~~
(okay, so maybe that was wayyy over the top xD Ah well...) (^-^)/~ bye, bye!
>>720 Is Sweden so scientifically advanced? Now I remember Sweden is the center of the Nobel prize. Does this fact have any connection with its advanced weaponry?
>>737 To be honest, I don't know well about Sweden. I haven't gotten any impression of whether it is benign country or not. But, to be sure, it gives a gentle image such as old townscape and great nature. I wonder I have a wrong image of the country.
>>764 You have a point. We should set up a clear and absolute rule that one man can have only two boobs. Having more than two boobs should be punished by the international law.
>>784 Your usage of "among" sounds weird. Anyway, I am attracted to women's hair. I also like women's voice though I wonder if it can be called a body part.
i wouldn't mind falling down into a boobie trap if its got lots of boobies in it. but i'm sure you guys will hang here tomorrow with no boobs. good night, ppl
You're standing in the line just to hit a new low. You're faking a smile with the coffee to go. You tell me your life's been way off line. You're falling to pieces everytime. And I don'T need no carrying on.
in japan, kicking a telephon pole is common in dramas or novels or comics. just like this. business man(salary man in japanese english)got reprimand severyly by his boss and he had noplace to let off steam .he kicked a telephone pole. often he ended up in hurting himself and jumping up and down with one leg.
i think it's very hard for non-japanese to imagine and laugh this situation.
>>809 old american animetions themself are childish and boring. once americans laughed at japanese for even adults read comic books. they thought japanese comics within their common level.
Next year's Christmas Eve's night I and my angel Emma Watson will celebrate the Christmas. and try to check each other that we are more than lovers on the bed. She is an angel. Her wings on her back can take her to the side of me over many miles of large waters.
>>810 I agree. Anime and manga created in Japan are sophisticated for adults who have grown up with a lot of anime and manga. I wonder why Japan has made such progress in creating those products while the U.S. and other countries still have a manga of so poor a quality.
>>812 I agree that manga from Japan is the best in the world. Many American and European artists are now imitating the Japanese manga style in an attempt to be "cool". Japanese manga is more popular than American comics in this country.
>>814 In American comics, as far as I know all heroes have great build, with lots of muscle, devided abnominal muscle and all.
How about heros in UK comics? I don't know any hiroes in UK comics. Japan is more familiar with American culture than British culture and we know superman, spiderman, X man and all through Hollywood movies.
Wait... The actor who plays new James Bond has great build (I haven't watched the film but have seen a photo for promotion where James Bond shows his naked upper body) so maybe British people like heros to have great build, too.
>>821 That might be because rock and indie music is more popular in the UK than it is in America.
Americans seem to prefer manufactured pop like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and all sorts of crap like that. I actually don't listen to any American music at all.
>>822 i'm not familiar with music. but some americans prefer british music and are copying them.smashing pumpkins, green days, killers, etc sounds british to me.but it is my feeling.
especially in the west coast ,bands like depesche mode is popular. i don't know why.
there are japanese bands who dare to sing in english. their songs are orientated for japanese market and no americans or british hear them.why english. beyond being laughble, ashamed enough to die. they may sound not even english.
Tezuka Osamu imitated Disney. Later, Disney imitated Tezuka Osamu; The circle is complete.
I wrote one essay about him. He was a fan of great classical western literature works, which inspired him partially. His mother used to take him to theatres, that inspired him as well, and his father had a movie playing machine, which Tezuka Osamu adored watching western movies on. Tezuka Osamu did not rip off western art or stories, but he was inspired partially from them with no doubt. And now, mainstream western art and stories are inspired by Japan, thanks to his legacy.
"Animation buffs believe Disney ripped off Kimba to create The Lion King. Disney insists similarities... are coincidence. If anything supports Disney's argument, it's the depth of the Japanese show. The Kimba episodes deal with justice and morality, never presuming children deserve only light entertainment." --PETER HONG, Los Angeles Times, May 19, 2002
"There is no doubt that Disney's movie has a different plot than the Kimba shows (this is common in any Disney adaptation). But The Lion King lacks what for me was the single greatest element in Kimba the White Lion: the relationship between humans and animals. This aspect has so much vital meaning for our world."
"Osuma Tesuka was happy to acknowledge the inspiration that the works of Walt Disney and his employers had on his own creations. He even acknowledged that Bambi assisted the creation of his lion king story. It is reasonable and responsible of artists to be inspired by others and to study their techniques, and there is no shame in admitting so. The reason you do is to show your respect and esteem for great and influential creators. Taking into account the extensive and extraordinary career of Osuma Tesuka, the latest of the Disney animated features' claims of being an all original creation stands as an immense measure of disrespect to an animation master. In short, no matter how well produced as some of the sequences are, The Lion King is an insult to the art of animation."
I noticed that some people here say that American animation is inferior to Japanese animation. This is not true. Japanese animation is poor quality. It has low framerate, and little motion on the screen compared to American animation. American comics are also superior. Japanese comics are black-and-white and have ugly art. They are trash compared to American ones.
>>857 is that form incorrect? here in japan "tommorrow never knows" is known well for popular pop band"mr.children"'s song title. denifitely they took title after beatle's "tommorrow never knows" in Revolver. do you mean "tommorrow never knows"is poetic sentence created by john lennon and it is not for pratical use?
>>848 we have lots of styles. see otomo katuhiro, ikegami ryoichi for example. don't think every japanese comic artist is yudetamago LOL.
>>820 I'm not a Manga person but I think I've heard of Judge Dredd because as you say, it's became a movie although I haven't watched it. I know just the title. Maybe I've heard of Robo-Hunter, too but maybe I haven't. I'm not sure.
Now I remember a British TV show that must be most known to Japanese ,especially 30 years old and older. It's Thunder Bird. If my memory serves, it became a movie a few years back. Original TV version was aired again here in Japan a few years back, too.
I think a British TV show most known to Japanese is "Monty Python." When aired, unfortunately, it was dubbed so it wasn't as funny, but now we get to see the English version through DVDs and videos^-^
Although I know Mr. Bean is (was) popular among native English-speaking people , but for being japanese, I don't find it funny at all. Since Mr. Bean doesn't talk, I don't think it is the matter of language, but then, I don't understand why the show is popular in the English speaking countries.
>>868 Because Mr. Bean defies conventions. He's an embarassment, yet fascinating, and has his own sense of logic, which is funny because it makes sense in unexpected ways. Mr Bean's school of humour, i forgot all the rules. but these are the elements i still remember that equate to humour: ● wrong placement (example - a plain banana unexpectedly being instead of a phone) ● wrong behaviour (example - a banana that acts as a similarly shaped body part) ● wrong size (example - a gigantic banana)
i remember not more. please fill in the rest, anyone who has seen that humour school.
>>872 Could you explain why ● wrong placement (example - a plain banana unexpectedly being instead of a phone) ● wrong behaviour (example - a banana that acts as a similarly shaped body part) ● wrong size (example - a gigantic banana) are funny?
>>877 Because of them bringing contrasting concepts together, and create a new sense of logic, and the brain is delighted at "getting it". Which is why puns are so amusing to many.
>>893 "Web address" refers to a subset of URL's. That is, ones that use the "http" or "https" protocols. Other protocols, such as "ftp" can be used in URL's, but those URL's aren't usually called web addresses. The reason is that "web" refers to the world wide web, which refers to websites running on HTTP servers. So, for example, "ftp://www.example.com" is a URL, but not a web address.
"Goode also told Fox News he wants to limit legal immigration and do away with "diversity visas," which he said let in people "not from European countries" and "some terrorist states.""
Goode is against the new Islamic congressman, and does not want non-Europeans to enter the United States. What do you think about that?
>>872 I think they are all so classic and thus lame. They have been used in so many movies and comedies already, therefore there is nothing new about them.
>915 I heard that Katochan hovered between life and death for a long time. I didn't know that untill his interview.but I am so glad him to recovered and left the hospital.
Yeah, Kato-chan is one of the greatest comedians representing the good-old Showa era, so I'm also very glad he has survived and will be leaving the hospital soon.
yeah i saw kato cha on tv. he looked weak. he said his heart stopped beating for a while during the operation. but hes back to life. i want him to get better and come to tv again soon.
>>931 uh, I searched again. I found her videos... She doesn't *do* anything. I mean, why not draw a picture? It would probably do more, nyuck nyuck nyuck.
In the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada, are there idol nerds such as japanese akihabara kimowota? For instance, they shout 'Lindsay Lohan' in her concert while they sweat, give off odor, and shaking thier cock
>>948 Why they choose handsome men while betraying her many fans? Akihabara greatly contributed to buy many many her goods and that makes her more famous and popular!
>>947 No one likes Lindsay Lohan. She's dirty and a drunk. I'm sure there are idol nerds. But we just find pictures of them and photoshop them doing nasty and stupid (but funny) things.
>>955 Rich people become naturally handsome. Money must have a good effect on skin. Besides, just get plastic surgery, or hire a private investigator to find out a dark secret of hers, and blackmail her into marrying you.
if she chases the man who don't her fan, of course, it will make the fan sad. but they won't get jealous. because they always says sort of "she is pure" or "one day I will merry her" but they also always say that, at their heart they understand that she is resident of different world.
if fact, what if the man is fan? he is in the same world!!! it causes a huge jealous, doesn't it?
