only today have i begun to feel totally myself. the evening i arrived we headed straight out to a dinner party.. since then it has been much the same. i have found myself sleeping til the late morning.. 11 or so. not like me. feeling tired.. lacking much energy. i think it has been a combination of change of diet, emotional stuff.. just having so many people around all the time.. no time to myself, the jet lag, just the fact that dinner here isnt even eaten til after 9pm.. etc. but today i feel i have caught up.. got used to the food.. a little more rested and relaxed. tomorrow night is another bbq (thats not counting the one we are having tonight!).. at my cousins house, and then a whole bunch of us are going to venture out into the rosario nightlife.. i have no idea of what it has to offer.. but will tell you about it later.
The crossborder dissimilarity in the situations of native North Americans can serve to illustrate the greater consideration for --- perhaps more accurately, the lesser pressure put on --- minority populations north of the 49th parallel.
意味は「north of the border」だから、アメリカとカナダの国境線を the 49th parallel というのか?
I lost u at the midnight.U are too strong.But I'm too weak.So,I'm losin' everything now.All my treasure's leavin'…. If the party's held,I'm gonna try to chat u up,that I'm sure is impossible.Perhaps,I'll only be able to say,“Let's go shopping.” I can't imagine what thing will happen.They's hope that I only have for the future.
The 49th parallel of north latitude forms the border between Canada and the United States from Manitoba to British Columbia on the Canadian side and from Minnesota to Washington on the U.S. side.
"You're too nice," says Amy's best friend, Kate. Amy's not sure what "too nice" means, but she sure knows how it feels: rotten. She's tired of giving her things away, tired of getting stuck with the jobs nobody wants, and tired of feeling angry and sad. But with a little help and practice, she starts learning how to be friendly yet take care of herself at the same time. Soon she discovers that when she stops being "Too Nice Amy," everyone is happier: including Amy!

Because there are few other signs of national identity such as a national costume, flag or national holiday, there developed a strong scenic essence to English idenitity. One icon in heritage has a distinctly English cast. This is the landscape.(以下略)

Maybe this is not at all new to you.I know that you can find all new electronics in Japan and that most of the time you are first with the latest technologies.Every time I was in Tokyo I tried to go to Aki-Habara. I always enjoyed walking around and looking at all the electronics. Really fun for big boys.Another thing I almost always did the first morning in Tokyo was visiting the fish market. It was perfect because due to jetlag you always woke early and then I took a taxi there and spent a couple of hours there watching the auctions. Then I walked back to the hotel and ate breakfast on the way.Sitting here writing about Tokyo I miss it a lot and want to go back again.I hope that Tina will get a TYO flight soon and at least before we eventually move to Vietnam so I could go with her.

Welcome to University of Hawaii at Manoa! My name is Lily Lam and I am your guide for next week's tour around campus. I am a senior studying accounting at the university so please ask me if you have questions.
I hope the tour will give you a better understanding of the university. Please do not feel afraid about speaking English. The more you practice, the more comfortable you will feel speaking the language. I will also try my best to speak slowly. But if you don't understand, feel free to stop me.
Some advice for the tour: wear comfortable shoes and clothing because we will be walking a lot. Below is a tentative schedule for Thursday, October 28.

but anyway if they dont like you it will be quite hard to give up you (でももし彼らがあなたの事を気に入らなくても私はあなたの事を諦める事は出来ない) so i will still keep in touch with you i think so (私はあなたの事を考え続ける) but it might be slightly different
It became clear that the contrast between the kind of learning nd memory lost in amnesic patients and the kind that is spared is not simply an effect of brain damage, but represents a fundamental distinction in the way all humans process and store information about the world.

What is a metaphor? And what is speaking metaphorically? In life generally, a matephor is a way of understanding one thing in terms of another very different thing. Because we can think of "time as money" we can talk about speaking time or saving time. We can budget our time and wast it, just like we can with money. Why are we able to think and talk about time as if were money? Time is something which is very abstract. We cannot see it. We cannot feel it, smell it, or touch it. Money, on the other hand, is something which is very concrete. We can see it. If we are lucky, we can own it, touch it, feel it. We can count it. It is extremely common for people to understand abstract things and experiences in terms of more concrete ones. It is important, however, to keep in mind that time is not really money. When we understand time as being like money, we are understanding only one part of the idea of time. There are other ways to think of time, too; time moves. This can be seen in sentences like "Time flies like an arrow" or "Time flows like a river."
You have only to watch babies and infants, and think seriously about what all of them learn and do,to see that they show a desire and ability to learn that in an older person we might well call genius.

Moreover, people have not always thought of time as money. And even today, not all people in every society think of time as money. One reason we have this metaphor is due to the nature of modern life in industrialized societies. Because Japan and most Western countries are similar in this respect, Japanese easily understand this metaphor. Japanese share this way of thinking with much of the rest of the world. Some of our metaphors are the result of the nature of the human body and human abilities to see and feel and move. These metaphors are similar in all languages and cultures. They are universal. Other metaphors are the result of particular cultural experiences. These metaphors may be unique to one society. They are culture specific.

Nike`s success with shoes allowed it to quickly make inroads into the athletic apparel and sporting equipment business. Nike`s ability to constantly innovate its products is one of the reasons for its continued success. Nike used famous athletes to help advertise its products. These athletes would wear and endorse Nike products. Nike, a company started by a young but ambitious dreamer, who sold shoes out of the back of his car,has become the biggest name in sports brands with over $10 billion of annual sales in 2000.
He imagined that he was an alien visiting Earth from another planet to study people. He watched how people acted. He tried to understand the strange part of their actions called laughter. He studied how people laugh, why they laugh, and how they use laughter in their lives. That is the way scientists study the actions of wild animals. They ask the same kind of questions about birds and their songs. The scientist realized that we know more about bird songs than about human laughter.

Another thing that I think is interesting right now is the American presidential campaign which I try to follow. How is it in Japan, does the media report a lot from the campaign? I just red the book "Stupid White Men" by Michael Moore. Fascinating! Tomorrow I will watch his movie "Fahrenheit 9-11" which I got a copy of today from one of the other pilots.

How can this be? Let's try to calculate it. First you need to know that in order to figure the probability of two "independent" events happening at the same time, you multiply the probability of each of the events together. For example, the chance of tossing two heads on a coin is 1/2×1/2=1/4. If you do not believe this, toss two coins and see what combination comes up. Repeat this one hundred times and count the number of double heads. There should be about twenty-five, but if you do not get between twenty and thirty, you may be tossing the coins in a peculiar way. Like the tossing of two coins, one child's birthday is independent of another child's as long as they are not twins. This means that you can figure the chance of a birthday coincidence by multiplying probabilities together in the same way as in tossing coins. But rather than figuring the probability of a coincidence, let's work out the chances that all of the children have different birthdays --it is actually a much simpler calculation.
Language exists in order that people may commmunicate with one another. Often, however, language may be a source of misunderstanding, both between individuals and between peoples. One reason for this, of course, is that the world has so many languages. Most words have more than one meaning, and if a translator selects the wrong one, he may cause an international crisis.
Yeah, thats where I am at the moment.I arrived here last saturday .. today being thursday, i think anyway.I am staying in a great little hostel called sandanzas, located in the bohemian tango rich barrio of san telmo. And guess what,I am staying for a month more! yesterday I started a 4 week spanish course. thats 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, for the 4 weeks. so I've had the first 2 days and so far so great.I have discovered that while I can speak some decent spanish, enough to get by and understand a lot, I also speak with lots of errors.. so this course is teaching me a lot of new things, and getting me that little bit further.I am glad that I have made a good investment.
Our interrelatedness is often only translated into a reality when some part of the system is at crisis point, and then only when the costs are felt in our pokets or in our state of health.

The characters are generally used in pairs or threes-each part has a spread of meaning, but the characters of a group delimit each other so that a precise meaning emerges. If the character for ‘clothes’ is combined in a compound with ‘food’, the meaning is ‘livelihood’.
They found that people often use laughter in almost the same way we use punctuation in writing, like a period or a question mark. Laughter comes between sentences to separate ideas and to make some ideas stand out. Most of what a scientist learned came from watching and listening to people. You and I can do that, too. It is like bird watching, except people are more fun.

Persons skilled in abacus calculation are able to do rapid and and accurate computations by mentally imagining an abacus and then moving the beads mentally. It was doubtless inconceivable to the inventors of the abacus that such a "mental abacus" was possible. Yet clearly, there is something about the structure of the abacus that lent itself to this emergent form. Calculation using the mental abacus is extraordinarily fast: In one study (Stigler 1984) , fifth graders who became experts at abacus calculation were able to mentally add five three-digit numbers in about three seconds by imagining a mental abacus. The most common use of this skill is in formal competition, a practice that may lead to even further strategic adaptations to better serve the mental calculation function.

This has had important repercussions on the strength and influence of French trade unions, since not only are they divided ideologically but the strongest is a satellite of a political party that has been effectively excluded from power for most of the period since 1947.
i have to ask you, if is not problem to you, to explain to me what it is like in Japan to go to elementary school? well, i need this for some project of elementary school that i will draw, so i need to know everyting about that education system in elementary school in Japan. well, you could write it in just several sentences, nothing much. but if you cannot, for any reason, just ignore my question, ok? thanks.

American Congressmen, given the weakness of party structure, the need to raise huge amounts of campaign funds, and the absence of strong ideological differences between the parties, are easy targets for pressure groups, especially if those groups are based in the legislator's own constituency.

1: The two-party system in Britain, with the absence of comparable local pressures, allows greater resistance to group activities.
2: The third variable is the political culture. In the first instance membership in groups of all sorts varies across different political cultures and this support or hostility for membership heips explain the relative success of interest groups.

There may be greater hostility shown to paticular types of group activity in certain countries: trade unions are usually regarded with greater suspicion than their counterparts, employer associations, and much trade union activity is directed towards persuading their own members of the wisdom of certain policies and towards improving the image that trade unions have with the general public in order to better their bargaining position vis-a-vis the government.

I know you all already are aware of The Wind Cried album, due to it's 2 previous versions already on the website. But this is an update to that album. I have had a real vocalist, an old friend, Greg Brown, come in and resing all my songs and replaced my vocals with his, and Juan in Holland has done a re-mix and mastered the cd for commercial purposes, so in reality, this final 3rd version is the Complete, Commercial ready version. Greg has done remarkable vocals on the album, and him and I are at this moment engaged in writing a brand new Rab Solo album together, so that is to come in the near future. Anyway, if I ever get to Record Company interest, which we are all working on now, and if we have any luck, this new 3rd version is the 'final' attempt at doing The Wind Cried justice. I'll let ya'll know when I have the final mastered version in, and I will need to re-do the cover as well. Who recording starts soon too, so I'm a very busy boy. I hope ya'll are all doing good, and can't wait to see you all on any future Who gigs....... Stay well and safe everybody.all over the World..... and thanks for your friendships..........
Why does Japanese have so many formulaic expressions? I think the answer lies in the importance of style over substance in Japanese society. As long as the correct phrase is said, then most Japanese feel comfortable and satisfied. There are times when the correct style is shown through actions.

Direct action and resort to violence may be more common in some political cultures than in others, even in democratic political systems. French farmers have a well-established reputation for blocking roads with farm produce and machinery to support their demands against the government. The activities of the French students and trade unionists during the political troubles of May 1968, and then again in the autumns of 1995 and 1998, provide further examples of French attitude-group activities.
This sunday we have a special bbq.. a 14kg pig (cleaned weight) on a spit! I think thats meant to be for about 30 people. To me that sounds like about half a kilo of meat each! What do you think about that keith!? Oh, My uncle angelo here is a wizard on the bbq! And myself, I have cooked here for the family twice already. Not as easy a job as it may at first sound. There always seem to be about 12 people here for anything.. dinner, drinks, or a chat. Yesterday it was a simple cream pasta w mushrooms and some chicken.. took me nearly 2 hours! Thats how I spent my late morning. But I loved it! I hope to learn some bbq secrets while I am here.
The tradision of the authoritative state in Germany may explain the relativeweakness of attitude groups there. The religious divisions in Northern Ireland have made it difficult for pressure groups to act independently of eitherreligious group; the civil rights movement from its beginnings in 1968 became increasingly identified as pro-Catholic and this made it more difficult to influence the Protestant-based Unionist government. Thus in various ways the political culture determines the shape, intensity and direction of pressure group activity.

The easier it became to get patents, the more people wanted to apply for them, and that led to a situation where examiners grappled with more patents to review, which led to them being pressed to do quicker reviews and a degradation in quality of patents issued.
"So as a result we've got somewhat of a vicious cycle. Once you get one firm in an industry beginning a strategy of aggressive patent enforcement, it creates an almost inevitable response - an almost arms- race dynamic - where everyone else in the industry says, 'We better be doing the same thing."'
In many other countries the heart of the matter, the point of the negotiation, is not so much snformation and persuasion as it is getting to know the peple involved. In Brazil much time is spent in developing a strong relationship of trust before buisiness can begin. Brazilians can't depend on a legal system to iron out conflicts; so they depend on personal relationships.
Billy Weaver had travelled down from London on the slow afternoon train, with a change at Swindon on the way, and by the time he got to Bath it was about nine o'clock in the evening and the moon was coming up put of a clear starry sky over the houses opposite the station.
I am sorry to hear about your mother, but glad she is OK now. I am sure for the next few months she will be worrying about her age since having an operation always makes people worry about such things. So that must be difficult for you.

Literary art serves the geographer in three principal ways. As though experiment on possible modes of human experience and relationship, it provides hints as to what a geographer might look for when he studies, for instance, social space. As artifact it reveals the environmental perceptions and values of a culture ... Finally,as an ambitious attempt to balance the subjective and the objective it is a model for geographical synthesis.
The modern world began with the coming of the railways. They turned the known universe upside down. They made a greater and more immediate impact than any other mechanical or industrial innovation before or since. They were the first technical invention which affected everyone in any country where they were built - which, effectively, meant most of the world.

Mystery hides her heart from the open air. For no one shall touch her, she is afraid of care. Her name rest upon his lips as softly as morning dew. If she continues to hide he can never have her for a wife. Because her fear is much to great.
The boy's death brings to 120 the number of those who have died in the floods.
The boy's death brings (the number of those who have died in the floods) (to 120).
The boy's death brings to 120 the number of those who have died in the floods. The boy's death brings those who have died in the floods to 120.

Said shows the interplay of power, knowledge and representation through written and visual depictions of an exotic East. Focusing on texts such as travel writings, scholarly accounts and novels, Said argues that Orientalism produced knowledge about colonized people and places as inferior, irrational and 'other' to a powerful, rational,Western 'self'.

>>698 Some cook you turned out to be. は You turned out to be some cook.
You turned out to be some cook.
She never realized petter's pain, his heartache. petter walks away from her, it is mystery's mistake. A stronger man she will never meet again. And happiness for mystery's heart must come to an end. Though I try and try to reach out to her. Mystery's heart does not move...it does not even stir. petter places a flower where he thinks she may hide. And she picks it up and she opens her heart to place the flower inside. Finally Mystery gives petter a chance. And because petter never gave up mystery now knows true romance.
>>721 その場合は、確かに「変わった」という日本語を使うのはおかしいな。 >That guy turned out to be Maria's cousin.
You turned out to be some cook.

komdo vs kendo -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Japanese Masters did NOT teach Koreans Kendo. Kendo is a form of Kumdo, not vice versa. Japan was taught Korean techniques by the Koreans when Japan was created by Koreans and the Chinese when they left their countries to escape prosecution. Korea taught Japan and then Japan turned around and conquered Japan. Besides, Japan wasn't even a country during the time when Kumdo became a formal martial art. It was a colony of Korea. So explain how Japan taught Korea their techniques if there was no Japan at the time...
