Hey!!! you NEETs, nerds, YouTube-link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis, Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers, Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters, Big-boobs fans, Weeaboos from all over the world, learners of Japanese who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, and cunning linguists. And let's hope the Internet-addicted housewife will come back soon!
>>1 Pack your suitcase now and go travel around the world to search for some types of tea to serve us. Don't come back until you find new types of tea. You don't have to worry about hotel reservations. You can stay at houses of of this thread's chatters.
>>1 don't come to my house. It is untidy. Besides the landlady doesn't want visitors. Everyone, please do not make this thread women-unfriendly. All else I will flood it with Janiota who will teach you a lesson.
hello japanese boys, how r u? r u happy with your lonely bachelor life? I can help u out if ur interested in... I can make u feel really goood. come on, tell me what ur thinking now..
You know, YH has been quite indecisive and people started to think he's unreliable. As they believe, he hasn't lived up to the expectation from those who voted for the democratic party of Japan, even one bit. As for me, he wasn't, isn't, and won't be trustworthy. He doesn't know what he's doing. Even when he should make some decision, he did go traveling and enjoy it. There was something he should do before that. As a result, the latest poll shows that his adminstration lost popularity - only 23% support. He'll come to an end one of these days.
You don't know about him? Just go to the breaking news board of 2ch and you'll find out there are many threads there concerning Hatoyama's failure in everything he does.
No, I'm just kidding. I'm from Japan. This is 2ch and most users are, aren't they? I know, sure, it's been kind of under surveillance. Korean news companies or agencies or whatever write about posts in 2ch, and that's funny, don't you think? Anyway, I really don't like Hatoyama.
I know how it is to get banned because of someone copy and pasted articles about problems concerning policies of Hatoyama administration - to be precise, Kodomo teate.. I checked why I was banned. That's why.
That was going too far. Why did admins get people banned because someone complained about it? I couldn't help but guess the Democratic Party put pressure on 2ch..
yeah. I checked it too. they're really sucks. the admins want to make us pay money to them. however they do or don't, I don't want to pay anything for unneccesay things.
>>35 Hmm, but it didn't work, did it? A news article said the number of people who visit 2ch hasn't been increasing, and instead mixi and twitter got a little bigger than they were. 2ch is still the biggest, though.
Have you heard that Okada, foreign minster of japan, asked 2ch to delete descriptions about him? After that, a huge number of people were banned because of him! He wanted to silence people who bad-mouthed him or anything.. I thought Japan was a place where people enjoyed freedom of speech, but DP has been quite authoritative after they won the election last year. How horrible.
My biggest issue with Hatoyama is that he's tying the party's fortunes to his own. Hatoyama should probably never have headed up the DPJ to begin with once they won last year. He has poor leadership skills and scandals in his past, and it seems like he has trouble standing up to Ozawa. The DPJ needed someone charismatic like Obama to make the public feel at ease. I'm not saying I like Obama's policies, but many Americans feel that he is effective as a leader. Hatoyama seems afraid to offend anyone, but that just makes people more angry; on the topic of Futenma, for example, instead of satisfying some people and upsetting others with a clear, firm decision, he's just disappointing everyone by doing nothing.
Some people would say that Hatoyama should step down now, but he seems to have backed himself into a corner. If someone else had become prime minister to begin with, there would be no complaints. But if he steps down now, people will cry that the DPJ is just like the LDP, lacking in unity and constantly switching PMs. He'll probably have no choice if the Upper House elections this summer go badly, but by then it might be too late for the DPJ.
But then whom are voters supposed to support? Tachiagare Nihon...? I hate both big American political parties, but sometimes I think the Japanese have it even worse.
By the way, are there other Japanese online forums where people discuss politics? There are a lot of English-language forums for American political debate, and European countries probably have some as well, but the only Japanese forum I really know about is 2ch, and the writing style here is very different from the forums I'm thinking of.
>>37 it's a thing of the past. who care if it would be disappeared? I don't know much about Okada.. does they wish him go away from political force? so the opposite can do that in a smart way more than them.
>>38 About your first paragraph, yes, I'm for your opinion. According to polls conducted this year, people feel frustrated and exasparated by his political attitudes. What he says in the morning often changes in the evening. What do we supposed to trust?
And about the second one, yeah, you described quite well what situation he's in now. I'd call him a lame duck, even though it's 7 months after he became prime minister. But 7 months is enough. Most people can't stand it.
What kind of forums are in your head? I have no idea how different it is - I mean, the writing style here? What's that supposed to mean?
>>38 Try Yahoo掲示板. It deals with tons of topics like 2ch. I don't know much about what it is like, though. You need to make your yahoo account, which is easy.
>>43 Come to think of it, it's not natural to have so many English schools here in Japan because in most cases people usually don't need to speak it in their everyday lives. Plus people don't have much money to pay for learning languages. It costs an arm and a leg.
>>44 It's not so much that I prefer one over the other. It's just that on the forums I'm used to visiting, people make long, detailed posts with lots of information and analysis. The debate usually proceeds in a linear way, and everyone is expected to have read the entire thread before replying. Of course, to keep the level of discourse high, serious moderation is required. Thanks to those forums, though, I don't have to read or watch regular news at all to have a good understanding of things here.
On 2ch, things are more laid back and people often post just to express their opinion on the first post of the thread without reading the whole thing. Replies are also much shorter and more concise. This is good in its own way, but it means you need a lot of background knowledge to understand where people are coming from, and there isn't the same type of deep analysis. If I didn't try to keep up with news and editorials by reading Yomiuri Online, I probably wouldn't know what people were talking about in many of the news threads here.
Anyway, thanks to >>42 for the suggestion. I'll check it out later.
>>45 That's definitely true, but I think if the basic level of English understanding were higher, there would be more opportunities to use it. It's kind of like a vicious circle where the lack of English comprehension means that no one uses English at all so there's no need for English comprehension...know what I mean?
With that said, I've heard that many eikaiwa are just ripoffs with lazy teachers who don't care about their students, so it's only natural that the industry should suffer until it reforms itself.
I don't think that you should spend alot of money on learning languages. For most of the Japanese learners in particular, learning English is not a way of earning money, or a way of becoming successful in other foreign countries such as the U.S. They are learning it just because they want to, and it's just their favorite pastime. For them learning other languages different from their own is a way to show off their skills, which in turn means a way to shake off their inferiority complex they have toward foreign countries. There is no need to spend a lot on such a purpose. Personally I think they should be more confident in themselves as one of the superpowers of the world, one of the biggest economies. lol
Hey, did you see the debate between Tanigaki and Hatoyama? That loopy hatoyama admitted that he was foolish, but over all he's increasingly getting loopier every day. I'm sick of it. We have to get rid of this pathetic and lunatic pigeon! It really is frustrating to hear him babbling meaningless thoughts..
What is "Haraan"? Hara means gut, so the entire phrase should read, "the secret plan." Then what did he keep in his gut? What did he intend by using the phrase? I wish I knew.
learning English is stupid things to do. nova and jios have bankrupted now, and we japanese are finally realized that learning English is just waist of time. if you want to be rich in the future, dont waiste your time studing english but you have to study Math or science.
Japanese people learn English just to feel they are superior to others who cannot speak it. Some of them have a certain level of proficiency, but their English doesn't appeal to me. They might know how to speak, but I never get attracted to what they say. I think they should enrich their knowledge about their own culture, their major in college, and the world history before they memorize useless vocabulary.
>>56 It's not read as haraan but fukuan. He didn't make clear what he intended by it today. Since Hatoyama is loopy, he wants to use a new word he learns again and again and again. He seems to think it's cool (and most of us think it's hollow and empty. As you know, the loopy man used "zero base" quite often, and it turned out it meant "zero idea" actually. He isn't the type of person who use his head on his own. He's no leader at all.
>>57 I'd say it's downright crazy to spend lots of money in learning languages, especially if you don't have to use it, and still it's fun. There's a choice you can make. If you are not interested in English nor you don't have to learn it, then just forget about it.
I was wondering if you guys here have a niconico account. If you do, then I'd like you to watch this, given you are also angry about hatyama administation: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm10460254 It's first 20 minutes of the debate I mentioned above. Hatoyama is quite irrational there.
>>48 English learning materials are uploaded on many storage service websites. Try putting your desired materials in the search box and google them. You can probably get what you want.
Prime Minister Hatoyama said clearly in the debate that Obama asked Japan to hold "a 10-minute meeting". Is that true? I doubt that... We know Hatoyama is a liar.
>>76 There are many others. "New Interchange" may also be a good series for English learners. Also, there's a chance you'll take a liking to "fluent English". I'm not sure if you like this style of recording, but "hiragana times" is like "english audio → Japanese audio → English audio → Japanese audio". So you don't have to carry a text book outside. If you want to know more about my fav materials, ask me. That's it for now.
I disagree with those who claim "language learning is useless unless you use it".
That is such a flawed perception. When you learn languages, it is not only the ability to communicate in that particular language. You learn "how to learn" a language, it is a learning ability self-test. You also learn about a completely different culture, which makes you appreciate all cultures and reinforce your own sense of national identity. You learn that languages are not isolated entities but they are interconnecetd with other languages through human movement and interaction. You learn about how humans interacted throughout the history and have a better view of the world. When you go through difficulties of understanding how a language works, you become more aware of other people's thoughts. That makes you understand other people better. Overall language learning is a very important for personal development experience, as a human being and as a citizen of this world. In other words, learn any language you are interested in, keep on learning it to grow as a person. Avoid any language learning if you want to be insular, inward looking, short sighted and biased.
>>83 I agree with this. Even putting aside the cultural aspect, learning a second language is great mental exercise that you can't really get by studying science or math. Studies have shown that children who learn second languages early have increased brain power later in life because their brains develop differently.
Of course, it doesn't have to be English. But most other countries teach English, so you can interact with the most people that way. I also think it's good to learn a language as different as possible from your own. That's why I think Japanese is interesting, after all.
Hatoyama: Passengers, I have to inform you that I may be a poor pilot.
Airplane passenger: Don't pull our legs. You said you were better than the previous pilot, and you just took over. Fine, you should quit and the next person can manage.
H: I'll do my best so I won't quit. AP: If you wanna die, then die alone. Don't get us involved!! H: I'll take it as rooting. Thank you for your support. AP: We didn't mean to say we supported you!! Don't fly a plane if you're poor at it! H: I didn't mean that. I said I "may be" a poor pilot and that doesn't mean I am. You can't say I don't fly well until I land. H: I'll make a landing before fuel becomes empty. AP: At where? There's no airport you can land at.
H: There are many other places one can land an airplane than an airport. You should understand my belief that we should consider every possible way. AP: I have no idea what you are saying! Are you out of your mind?
H: I have a good plan in mind. AP: What is it? H: I'm sorry I can't say that. AP: Did you consult with others? H: Yes, I talked about 10 minutes. AP: Did you get a permission from the control tower? H: It's still up in the air. We should make a zero-base review. AP: The plane will fall and crash while you are doing that! H: I'll definitely land safely. AP: I said where!! H: It's fine today.
I just watched news on TV about a sleeping husband who beat his wife. It really cracked me up. In the middle of a night, he suddenly began to punch her and she called the police. She yelled from agony and tried to get help. He said that he had no memory of hitting her at all. He is at a detention center now and not allowed to approach her. I just can't believe it lol
I think Prime Minister Hatoyama is made to step down when he fails to put together a plan to move the Futenma camp to Henoko. According to a famous broadcaster, Mr Aoyama, given the situation where Hatoyama quits, there comes a chance Ichiro Ozawa will run for the presidency. That doesn't surprise me if he tries to take over, since he's really authoritative. I will feel really dark, however, to consider the case Ozawa rules Japan..
Don't think our prime minister is loopy. Just take him as Disney, so why should anyone be upset when they realize that he won't bring them to Neverland? His mealy-mouthed way of talking means he just wants to give us a sanitized version of reality as Disney gives us hope to hold on to this relentless society. Instead, you should blame people who continuously uses n-word and f-word(and l-word) to disgracefully stick to their interests.
Hi, everyone, long time no see. I'm gonna write about my shameful mess in day before yesyerday. Last Friday, In my university, at English class, my teacher(British) gave me a homework is to write reports about George Orwell who is a famous British writer(He is well-known for the novels, Animal Farm, 1984 etc.) by next Friday(namely, day before yeaterday). But,I misunderstood he is a professor in my university whom I have to hand in my reports(I'm a frog in the well...) and I don't know why,but I thought I have to write my statement about Peace(at the time, we talked about that in English). So, I did my best to write about that on my notebook PC all night. Of course, in the day before yesterday's class, my teacher saw my mistaken reports and said to me "Rewrite it!"... So, I'm loopy too.
>>94 Disney? Yeah, he looks really funny, his eyes bulging and protuberant, giving me the creeps. He speaks nonsense at the Diet. Why did he still privately hire a person who got sentenced? There's something fishy about that. He's getting loopier these days.
Tell you-know-who president of the huge opposition party in a certain country who has got to write something on twitter lately, "Honestly, I think you'll never stand out in whichever the real world or the internet".
>>93 Gotta be an infant to shit their pants. Then again, if he shits at the command center of the enemy, they'll die of the smell. He can be a letal weapon and awarded a medal.
>>96 You know what? There is a chance Hatoyama will be accused of fixing his political record - how much he earned and spent. I hope he'll take responsibility and step down soon.
>>95 Isn't there a course syllabus or website or something where you can check what assignments there are and when they're due? Or was this assignment just for you? Anyway, I might have an even worse story... I have an essay due in ten hours, and I haven't started. Not only that, the essay is about a 700-page book, and I haven't started that either. orz
>>102 No, this assignment wasn't just for you, but everyone in the class. Each classmate had to report a different person. For example, one's to report about "Martin Luther King Jr.", or other's to report about "Gandhi". I think if I had to report about such person whom I know, I wouldn't have a mistake like >>95...
I have no idea what'll happen to Hatoyama. In my opinion, he's already decided to quit, so he's still saying the Futenma problem will be solved no later than the last day of May. I'm not sure...
>>109 Oh, sorry. I forgot to write my opinion about 1Q84. The novels are interesting and deep for me. I can't write its detail, because if I write it, you'll(may) miss your interest in the novels. But, I can say only one thing. Aomame who is a heroine in the novels and likes bald-headed middleage men didn't commit suicide by her pistol.
>>119 That guy is lying about being an American. His English is awful. Or maybe the fact that he's American makes his terrible English all the more believable...
Sunday all the limited time of comfort is for tomorrow Monday I get into shoes, unable to even read paper Tuesday accidentally see an old friend but don't want to talk to him for now Live up to a Tokyo Life Even when it rains, I can walk without opening an umbrella if I choose the way I sometimes deceive myself in order to live my life with my feelings unhurt Thursday because the subway line has been extended to your work place Friday that lifts my feelings a little Live up to a Tokyo life No matter how much we like each other or believe each other each of us has a say, can't even leave a trifle thing alone, end up losing more important things Saturday while I'm not satisfied, morning comes Sunday I break my voice, calling you I live up to a Tokyo life It's just that you are around I'm living through a Tokyo life
>>113 What for? Are you a writer or does collecting pens appeal to you that much?
>>115 I don't think so. Well, when I used to post a lot, I saw several posters who speaks English as their mother tongue or second langage. No idea whether they are lurking now, though. Probably not.
>>117 You start! Any topic will do as long as it's interesting to others. Music, dramas, politics, etc. Or your personal experiences about learning English. This is the English board of 2ch. Where else would you put your burning emotions for English?
>>118 It's not 109. hmm, I haven't read it yet, but it seems good. Do you call yourself what's called a Harukist, or a person who loves to read him?
>>124 "This is a pen." is the most notorious sentence which is a good example of poor English education in Japan back in old days. Believe it or not, it was on an English text book in Japan used at school. The common understanding is that this sentence was created for 7th graders who starts learin English in Japan only for the sake of teaching students "This is ------." structure but as you notice there isn't almost no occasions where you use it in real pracical situations, unless the pen has an unusual shape like these USB memories. http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/2004/1018/solid.htm
If a pen has an unusual shape like the USB memories, "This is a pen" (even though it looks like sushi)" can be used in a real setting, but "This is a pen." sentence alone with an illustration of a pen on a page of Japanese English text book is a nightmare from a perspective of practical Engish use. Everybody knows what a pen is and what it looks like so "This is a pen." is so artificial sentence which you have no chances to use.
"This is Ken. Ken, this is Jenifer." are very practical example sentences because they can be used when you introduce two persons to each of them, while "this is a pen" couldn't be usd in a real setting except the cases like Sushi shaped pen. >>113's response to >>112 doesn't make sense at all but I think the background reason why he used "pen" just out of nowhere comes from this common understanding among Japanese English learners of this stupid and notorious "This is a pen." sentence used in a English textbook back in old days.
Fortunately, Japan's English education has focused a lot more on pratical use of English for quite a long time, this type of stupid sentences just for the sake of teaching a sentence structure without contexts are all gone.
>>124 I was half kidding. I'm a native speaker, so what >>112 said would mean that I wouldn't be allowed to post.
>>126 American students often have the same problem. It's tough to become a better writer without a teacher individually correcting your essays, but I guess my main suggestion would be to read over everything you write again, constantly asking yourself "Does this sentence add anything?" If not, delete it. A lot of people think of writing as just a process of creation, but revision and deletion are also very important.
>>127 So you'd been lurking. lol I thought native speakers weren't here to chat. Many of them, who I talked with here, used a particular name so that they could let us know who they were. That's why. Now to answer your question, yes, you guessed almost right. What >>112 said exactly was that s/he didn't want those people here who had good ability to use English because it's boring. That naturally involves native speakers, right? Also, I half expected you were kidding. lol
>>128 All I can say about forming English sentences is practice makes perfect. If you meant to say you weren't used to the typical essay format such as introduction, body, conclusion, then it might also be good to read how-to books or search for websites on essay writing.
>>129 Yes, it is. It's Tokyo Life by Kan. The song's kind of old (actually I happened to find it on YH lately) but I find it very good and melodious. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ai81Qx6oYk
I bought a book "The Speeches ofTexas Daddy" to learn English today. I've been disapponted a little. He is a very logical thinker, but he can't be it only when he talked about the atomic bomb issue.
He says to us that the U.S. used two atomic bomb in order to save Japanese people and keep the commies out.
The U.S. should apply the logic to Japan's agressive war against China.
>>131 I'm surprised at that. Isn't Tony usually on Japan's side? I would have expected him to condemn the actions of the US government. Anyway, I think most would agree that both the atomic bomb droppings and Nanking massacre were unfortunate. Both resulted in many dead civilians. So you shouldn't try to justify either, since the losses arguably outweighed the benefits. But it's a complicated issue, and I'm not in any position to give lectures or claim objectivity. So if you disagree with my views, please don't flame me.
On the topic of books... does anybody read Haruki Murakami novels? I just recently started reading "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles". I love it so far.
>>132 Sorry,I am poor at English,so I may not understand your views.
The Nanking massacre didn't exisit. Of course many people died and we can't compare the dead of two atomic bomb and many many devasting air raids all over Japan with the dead of battle in Nanking(not masscare).
The winner makes history? I don't think so. I believe that the U.S. will overcome Japan massacre someday.
Oh No! Boring boring! English is too difficult for Japanese. I think We Japanese are really bad at learning foreign languages. We are a bit stupid about learning languages. So it's waste of time to learn English. Even Some good English that japanese wrote here are also boring for Gaijins, I think.
So I expect Gaijin's Japanese! Your Japanese would be better than my English. That's why I will teach you Japanese!! Improve your Japanese, Gaijin people!
>>133 Thank you for explaining your view to me. That's very interesting. I'm curious, how widespread is the belief that there was no massacre in Nanking? I don't mean to be controversial, but is it a common view among Japanese that it was a battle, rather than a massacre?
I would like to learn more about it from a Japanese perspective, rather than out of a Canadian textbook or off of the internet. Thank you to anyone who might enlighten me.
Here comes another man/woman of justice on a crusade to correct Japan's incorrectness or whatever. Thanks but no worries - schools, textbooks and the mass media only emphasize the utter atrocity just as the Chinese Communist Party propagandizes it.
>>137 Sorry, >I think Japanese are specailly interested in Nanking massacre and most of us >have known it as a knowledge of historical textbooks. ↓ I think Japanese aren't specailly interested in Nanking massacre and most of us have known it as a knowledge of historical textbooks.
It's been quite some time since my last visit, and that loony stream guy is still around?! Seriously, are there any mods on 2ch? The board administration failed miserably.
>>124 Umm, I maybe a harukist. Because I've read almost his novels, "Hear the Wind Sing", "Hard-boiled wonderland and the End of the World","Norwegian Wood", "South of the Border, West of the Sun", "The Wind-up Bird Chronicle", "Sputnik Sweetheart", "Kafka on the Shore", "Afterdark", and "1Q84". So, I maybe a harukist.
>>149 I see! Once I'm done The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, which one would you recommend? Which is your personal favourite? And can you suggest any other Japanese authors? They don't get much exposure here, unfortunately. Thank you.
hi, all. it chick down to announce for national team of Japan for soccer. the supporters have focused on the possibility of Shunsuke Nakamura. I think it is pity to declare affecting game or player something disputable such as cheat, backhander, cult, etc. but, even in a neutral, I've anxiety about him aging Nakamura, for example, anymore his FK isn't accuracy, anymore his keeping possession isn't brilliant, anymore his body isn't in good condition for a long time.
Nakata star player of Japan retired at 29 years old, but Nakamura is 31 years old currently. most of players will be started his performance down arround 30 years old.
I love Nakamura, especially the Super FK for ManU in the match CL. so I don't want to see if he failed in the WC.
>>154 I wanna recommend "Norwegian Wood" to you. By the way, I wanna recommend another japanese author to you, Shinichi Hoshi. He is one of the japanese famous and popular novelist and well-known for these novels, "Bokko-chan", Officious god", " A man who came from the earth","An ending of your hopeness" and so on. These novels I introduce to you is what I've read. In that, I wanna recommend "Bokko-chan" to you. Especially in the novel, a short story what's called "The last person in the earth" is my favorite story in the novel. The short story is described the end of the world.
I read almost all of his works when I was young, too. he most impressive story which I still remember is the one about an alien whose mouth is the same as man's anus and vice versa.
>>158 Thank you very much! I'm going to the store today, so I'll look around for "Norwegian Wood" and "Bokko-chan". I enjoy novels and stories about the end of the world, so I'm particularly looking forward to Bokko-chan. Unfortunately, if it isn't translated, I'll be out of luck. I'll have to order it online and read it once I have a better grasp on the Japanese language. That'll take a while, lol.
John Stalvern waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were demons in the base. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Cernel Joson were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway. John was a space marine for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the spaceships and he said to dad "I want to be on the ships daddy." Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY DEMONS" There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the space station base of the UAC he knew there were demons. "This is Joson" the radio crackered. "You must fight the demons!" So John gotted his palsma rifle and blew up the wall. "HE GOING TO KILL US" said the demons "I will shoot at him" said the cyberdemon and he fired the rocket missiles. John plasmaed at him and tried to blew him up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill. "No! I must kill the demons" he shouted The radio said "No, John. You are the demons" And then John was a zombie.
>>159 Oh, thank you for writing one thing I forgot to do. The story about his father, Hajime Hoshi, who founded Hoshi Pharmaceutical College is described on the non-fiction, "Government Officials are strong, the People are weak". In japanese, it's called "人民は弱し 官吏は強し".
Hey everyone. English speaking American here. Currently, I'm using a translator so I can understand the Japanese that is written on this website. You guys can ask me anything if you like.
>>198 Using a Japanese to English translator is horrible, and vice-versa. Look at this translated post from the Psychology board... "As for you it does also the air which lacks silence in me." It sounds like really bizarre poetry.
>>178 No, I'm saying Gordon Brown and Hatoyama fuck each other's arse holes every night. In other words, they fuck each other in the arse and fondle each other's balls.
By the way, anime is getting more and more boring each year. Someone said Korea will take over the anime/manga industry in 10 years. I don't think that will happen though.
The only manga series any of you should be looking at is the "SUPER CUCUMBER" series starring Yukio Hatoyama. He rides all over Japan on his motorcycle, using cold cucumbers to chill hot anuses.
>>214 Well no, but this plumber friend of mine told me about 2ch when I called him to fix some pipes under my kitchen sinks a few days ago. He loves Japanese videogames.
Kitchen sinks? I don't know anything about plumbing but anyhow, "Welcome to this humble forum." I know very little about JP anime. I like American cartoons though.
>>226 Why are you so uptight? I guess the Italian got bored and went to bed. (There was no topic to begin with.) You don't know about Italy either, right?
sup guys, its the english speaking american here again. I heard about 2 chan from 4chan. It is an image board similar to this but in english. Come visit some time. 4chan.org
Since you are mostly male NEETs with chronic hikikomori tendencies, why don't you find a woman who works all day and comes home tired and hungry, and cook, pamper, accompany her?
Your life would be more sustainable and you would feel wanted.
You don't have to marry her or make commitments, just be a good guy she can come home to and relax with.
I'm not hikky, but I think that if I lived in Japan I would be classified as one eventually. I spend most of my time at home, leaving only for University, and even that is increasingly difficult to do. Hm, the only thing that might keep me from isolating myself entirely is the fact that my parents won't support me when I move to Japan. I'll be forced to work. I suspect the rest of my time will be spent in some small apartment, though, wasting away. Haha.
>>231 But how do you expect them to actually meet the women if they generally keep away from social activities? Other than that, though, I would love to have the life you described. It'd be great.
This week is called GOLDEN WEEK in Japan. We have consecutive national holidays which are supposed to boost economy. As for me, a hikky with less money who never contribute the economy.
>>233 No, I am the Janiztarento fan, not a hikikomori. >>231,>>233 are mine. The thought occurred to me when I watched this clip about Kame cooking for his drama crew at the shooting studio. It would be such a great world to come home to cooked food and a supportive, pampering male company. Since hikikomoris are housebound, why shouldn't they cook and care for a working woman? In return the woman becomes his outside agent, buying him manga, anime, figurines, posters, accompanying him when he needs the company. It makes so much sense. Actually it could be a drama story.
You have no chance to meet someone... It's becoming increasingly difficult to socialize with people here in Japan, even compared to two or three years ago back then. Single men and women are all having hard time looking for their soulmates. All these couple of years are marked as, say, almost a "pradigm shift" of views of marriage. Young people were trying to choose "good-looking mates." Their mates had to be handsome, or beautiful in the first place. But the reality is, they can't find anyone with that condition. They began to find someone "not so handsome, not so beautiful." Of course handsome men and beautiful women are best even now, but they started to learn to compromise.
>>448 I don't know about that... For me, it's true that I am very apathetic at times, but I like to make people happy. So while I think all hikikomori are somewhat self-centered, I think it differs to what degree. I would personally like nothing more than to do all I can to make a woman happy. I'd even learn to cook, haha.
>>249 Looks are important, everyone should try to look their best, actually trying to look good is nicer than looking good by default. Men and women should groom well for comfortable social interaction. So there should be a group meeting to discuss the skills, habits, likes, dislikes etc. The women should ask specifically : What can he cook? How is he with the housework? Is he able to care for a woman, is he willing to learn? Is he able to take away her worries, comfort her tired mind? Can he for instance clear the table and and run a bath for her, after dinner? etc etc What manga/anime/film/music is he into? What are his must-have hobbies? Likewise, the hikki asks the woman what she is willing to do. Will she provide for both of them? Buy his manga/anime/film/music? What does she expect in the evening? What can she give?
This is a partnership contract that should be time limited. Say, you commit to it for a day, week, month and three months. After that all ties are severed unless the both are willing to continue. Also it should be in written contract as to exactly what conditions they have agreed to. So these issues, normally not talked between dating couples, should be resolved much before, and a synergy is found rather than clashing interests. Think of it companies merging for profit, not people making sacrifices. like in a relationship. That way chances of success would be high. It is like having good flatmates, rather than romantic relationships. I think it is better than a relationship,
>>241 I don't think working women think Hikky men attarctve. Women want men to be tough basically, and Hikky men tend to be considered to be weak. I wonder if attractive Hikky men exist in the first place. It's not about just about preparing meal for a working women. I mean, they don'want ugly unattractive Hikky men to serve meals for them. They don't want to live with them for that matter.
If there were Hikky men who look like Johnny's boys, some working women could hire them to get them to prepare meals, cleaning rooms etc. I'm a man but I don't want to serve working women. Call me I'm against gender equality or whatever, but I think me should be a brad winner. I can't take the ideas of men act like a servant of working women. If working women take even hikky men who prepare for thier meals superor to working women, then I'd take the job. If working women think they are superior to hikky men, then I wouldnt want to take the job.
Besides the condition I said, I'd need to make love with a working woman who lives with him as a condition to work for her. So the woman would need to be beautful. Even a Hikky man wants to make love with a (beautiful) even if they know they are asking for the moon. Even women have sexula drive so I want one sex or two a week included in the contract with working woman.
>>262 It was fun. Especially in the Hall of the Great Buddha in Todaiji-temple. There is a hole of one of the pillars is as big as the Great Buddha's nostril to creep through. They say if you do it, you can get a benefit to be in good health. In there, I saw a boy who looks about 16 creeping through there. But, his body is too big to do it, so, his mother helped him to do it. Before he did, I tried to do it too. But, after that, I gave up. Because I'm nearly 20, so, if I did, I'll be ashamed too.
This sounds like a Swedish househusband thread. It is very common in Scandinavia for stay-at-home men to workout and be very good in Cooking, cleaning and pampering.
Here's a tip: When you are waiting for your browser or download or torrent: Work out. Pressups and Situps and flexing. All helps.
>>263 Social isolation is usually the result of various mental conditions. It doesn't normally have anything to do with how attractive a person is. Unless that person has been insulted, and stays inside because of that. But that can't be said of many hikkies. So saying that hikkies as a whole are unattractive is silly.
As for the rest of your post, you seem to have a problem with supposedly "strong" women. What you basically said is that men are superior to women, so they can't be in a lower position than a woman. How ridiculous. The fact that a woman is a woman doesn't lower her status as a human. I thought we'd all gotten over the patriarchal bullshit. And if you want to have mandatory sex in the contract, hire a prostitute. That's what they do. And I'm a male, by the way, not some raging feminist.
Holly shit!! I won't stop, can't stop , and sing song loud all in a day. I am only making a loud with my favorite instrument, and sound. Girls, Go Maniac!!
>>271 I wouldn't call it a mandatory sex because a working woman'd hire a male hikky who she thinks attractive besides having cooking and claning skills. It's win-win as long as every man and woman has sexua drive.
A prostitute is out of the question. There's no love there. As for a sex of a hikky and a working woman, there may not be love but, it's different from a sex with postitute in a way that they are attracd with each other to some extent. I'd call it vertual ralationship or whatever. Not as dry a relationship as that with prostitute.
I am glad that hikki-office lady idea is creating some discussions! I think every woman would love a man to cook and pamper her in the evening. That is why men who cook are so popular. We need a person who cares for us. A hikikomori can do this job if he has the right mental attitude. It has nothing to do with any ideology, it is driven purely by economy. >>263 I want to remind you that originally this union is meant for a mutual benefit for the working woman coming home late and the hikikomori staying at home all the time. It is not a relationship union. It is more like a flatmate partnership, but your flatmate(s) works for you. It is not based on attraction but compatibility of needs.
btw i don't see how person caring for someone is seen as a "servant". If you are a cook, hotal attendant, masseur, laundry staff, does that make you a servant? No. Cooking for your flatmate, helping her relax does not make you a servant, You are not her butler, just someone who does specific tasks while you are at home. It is just a mutually convenient existence.
>>280 Hotel attendant, laundry staff cook jobs all have servant-ish jobs if you ask me.
From old times, women cook for men. that's a legacy and that remains in men's minds. Believe it or not, very common line Japanese men used until a few decades ago when they ask for woman's hand was "Will you make miso soup (every day) for me?" The line meant the same as "Will you marry me?" back then. Miso soup is different from house to house and as you know it's staple soup in Japan's cuisine.
I think in America, the equivalent of miso soup would chicken soup in that it's slightly different from house to house and it resembles your mother. I heard chicken soup is often served when you catch a cold, although miso soup is served no matter if you come down with a cold or not.
Don't know chicken soup is popyular in UK, Australia, NZ etc.
>>286 Yeah, I'm Japanese. I poppd the question and you've just accepted my marriage offer. Yahoooooo!! I want at least two kids in our family. I'll throw away all Kame's DVD and videos stored in your PC so that your atentions aren't distracted. Look at me only me.
>>285 Is she a woman who are against the idea of anonymity on the Internet? I heard she talked with Hiroyuki, who is an administrator of 2chan and advocates anonymity on the Internet. Tell me more about how the public discussion went regarding Internet anonymity.
>>287 I am suprised. How do you think we will manage our marriage, we live half way across the world? How do we educate our children? This is too worrying. Wait, we hardly know each other! What kind of marriage will it be? >>288 I voted very early this morning, I wish I could vote every day. That brisk walk to the polling station was invigorating.
In UK, Votes are casted on a weekday? In Japan, votes are casted on weekends so that everybody can go to poll. Voting by absentee ballot is possible, too.
I have Scandinavian Blood, yes. My Grandfather raised me to be a servant, Because I was arranged into a marriage when I was 6 and my wife was already extremely talented, even then. Three years of marriage has been Good for me, like a warm bath for the soul.
YOU!just blazing em up all day, naw meen? working on assignments atm... how could i be fucked doing this on a friday night when all the motherfuckers out for sth. whats happening there niggaz? this goes out to
hey guys, Japanimation "K-on" is in now. That is on air every Tuesday midnight. and that's themesong is very exciting. following passage is quoted from that song.
"cagayake! girls" Chathing now! gachi de kashimashi never ending girs talk!
>>268 Hello. Glad to see you're still posting here. How was your Golden Week? I'm in the US, so instead of fun holidays I got to do term papers and study for exams...
>>311 I don't have enough money now. However, It is a eternal truth that I am a super genius NEET. I have an ability to become a billionaire, but I deliberately wii not become it. People says to me that I 'm affected with the second year of junior high school disease. There is no cure for this disease.
My day is only halfway over. It's a little more than 4 o'clock in the afternoon. I've got plenty of things left to do today, including watching Doctor Who in two hours :-3
>>330 What movie did you watch with your friend, and what did you two think of it? I hope you don't mind me asking...
>>332 I haven't seen it yet, I'm waiting for it to come out on rental DVDs. It seems like something I'd like, too. I live in Oxford, UK. I'm not a native speaker though. I only live here because I'm living with my boyfriend, who did some studies here. We'll be leaving to Germany in a month or two, as he's German.
>>333 its amazing that you have a german boyfreind. but is it okey for you to live in Germany? I mean,do you speak German too? are you studying German? and how is the life in Oxford? are people kind?
>>334 I'm from Sweden, and as both Sweden and Germany are a part of the EU, it's fine. I studied some German many years ago. My German is rusty but it's nothing that daily exposure won't cure.
Life in Oxford is pretty good. The people are fairly kind, and as I live quite a bit outside the city centre the surroundings are pretty great for someone who likes nature. There are lots of birds singing virtually all the time, which I love. My poor boyfriend doesn't, as they wake him up too early sometimes.
...Hmm. I missed the start of the tv show episode I was planning to watch. Oh well, I'll just have to wait until after it's finished, and watch it online.
>>332 Alice in Wonderland is apparently from Oxford, and they're not shy about it. Several of my boyfriend's teachers kept using drawings from Through The Looking Glass and the like for any examples in power point slides and paper hand-outs.
>>336 I found it several years ago, when it was at around part 22, because of my boyfriend's interests in Japanese internet culture. He's been interested in 2ch, 2chan, 4chan (and later 4-ch) since 2004 or so. I've been away for around two years, though. I couldn't post to 2ch when I moved to England almost two years ago, I assumed IP ban or the like. I tried posting at January this year, if I recall correctly. I still wasn't allowed to post. I was listening to my boyfriend's ipod this morning, and came across the song "Southern Cross". It made me think of this site and so I decided to have a try again. And this time it worked! I just don't know for how long it will last. :-/
>>336 English food isn't that bad, but sort of quite fatty. I can see why they use malt vinegar so much. A lot of traditional English food is quite unhealthy... I've become quite fond of some things, though. Steak and ale pie, for instance. Pretty great, but apparently it's supposed to be eaten with potato chips (as opposed to crunchy "crisps"). I'd rather skip that and just have it with steamed vegetables. My boyfriend and I tried making it last week, it turned out pretty tasty, but we forgot about that we halved the recipe, so we overcooked it a little.
I'm quite fond of Japanese food, even natto. But then again I'm used to pickled herring, and "kaviar", in Sweden, so maybe that explains why I like natto in spite of that most people, including Japanese, don't.
I apologise for posting so many posts in a row :-/ I don't have much to do this hour except for washing dishes, folding more laundry, and waiting for the tv episode to be put online. I've been sitting here taking a bit of a break with some herbal tea.
So there are many geniuses mentioned on this thread
>>272-san who is Nordic with a genius wife and >>339-san is a Swede who has a genius Oxbridge student as a boyfriend >>331-san who claims to be a NEET genius. That was some useful observation. (NOT)
Today I went to Brazilian cafe. Had fejoada and then macchiato. The coffee was good. I wouldn't say the food was that good.
Then met my collegues at a posh bar, dressed casually. Had Havana Mojito. Take a way the mint, ice and the pipette, there was hardly any rum in it. Pass.
Then I went to an 80s college party, had a couple of pints, sweated it off on the dance floor, invited a couple of young Chinese and a Brit =to dance with me.
Now I can't sleep. So I, the Kame wota, decided to write to you what I had done today.
The US food merchandise printed with the norigication "0g trans fat per serving ." Japanese food safety seems to be late. I think that US people only eat too much but that the food is safety.
at least,I don't want to live in US,I went to some countries, but I realized that food in other countries is generally not so good, also people are not as kind as Japan. Japanese clerks are really polite, helpful, kind. Japan is the best in my opinion.
I have never been to overseas yet.and I am twenty four year old. Now, I am studying English very hard everyday,in spite of my hard job as a formal employee. I always have approximately 4~5 hours sleep. I always feel drowsy.
But I have a Dream. I wanna to be English teacher in high school.
I hope. "Hope" is good thing. so I love the movie "The Showshank Redemption".
>>350 Are you a Japanese? If you are not, Thank you for your having good impression on Japan. Do I have "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence"? I've never gone abroad. I want to see the grass of other countries sometime.
>>355 Thank you. I have never been to overseas, so I wanna try to go abroad once. Therefore, I have to save money. I will go to Canada or England to learn English. Probably, Canada I will. Because English which is used in Canada is,so to speak, neutral English. English which is taught in Japanese school is a neutral English.
>>365 I bought a cake for mothers day,so we are going to eat that cake after dinner. but it was just 298 yen ..lol cheap cake haha. how about you? did you buy anything for your mom? or did anything for her?
>>365 Here, Mother's Day is the fourth Sunday of the Lent period - so this year, it was on March 14th. The UK's tradition of Mothering Sunday dates back about 500 years, but is now very commercialised, much like the US Mother's Day, which came about in 1908 after many attempts to establish one.
I haven't, but different countries have mother's day on different dates. I gave her a handkerchief on which I had made an embroidery of her favourite flower.
>>335 Aren't you k-tan? Because I remember k-tan's boyfriend was German. K-tan has brown hair. I don't mean to impose handlename on her. If k-tan wants to hide under anonimity, go ahead. Dolph Lundgren is not as tall as the date of him claims according to her story.
I guess Natto is O.K throughtout Japan nowadays.Mid Western?- Kansai(around kyoto, osaka) People used to hate natto but I guess they can find natto anywhere in kansai. It depends on individuals and natto is not as hated as it used to be in kansai.
As for me, I eat natto at least once a week or so. Natto's fishy? smell and stickiness don't offend me. I'm begining to feel uncertain though.
The other day I went to a gyudonya (beef bowl shop). I ate often at gyudonya because it's rather delicious and cheap. A gray haired, chubby, middled-aged guy sat next to me. Then some strong smell started to flow from him.
I thought it was from his socks. It was like the smell of socks with water left unwashed for certain period. I frowned and spoke ill of him on my mind. Soon I realised he ordered natto teisyoku! Natto teisyoku is not something it shold be in gyudonya at that time. Natto teisyoku is usually served or orderd in the morining time. But the gundon shop I went serves natto teisyoku anytime and the guy orderd it.
When I know it's natto and I am prepared to eat natto, its smell is nice. But without prior knowleadge, it's bad.
>>373 Wow, didn't think anyone would remember. I'm not trying to hide, so no need to worry :-) I just didn't see the point of using a handle while being someone "new" here. Some things confuse me though. I don't remember hearing of a singer named Saga, so I apologise for being ignorant about that.
Also, while I do remember reading the wikipedia article and more about Dolph Lundgren because it by some reason came up in the conversation, I don't recall discussing his height. orz
>>375 Interesting. I have never smelled natto without seeing it first. Thank you for the images, too. Garlic is usually regarded by others as stinky unless they're eating it themselves, but I've never felt that way. Perhaps it's because of being used to it from a young age - my parents used to cook all sorts of international cuisine, and so I learned to regard the scent as something pleasant.

hey guys, let's not talk about excrement protruding or seeping out of the anal canal of humans and animals. instead, we can discuss a wide range of topical issues with regard to, say, underclothes covering female crotches, buttocks and such. i mean, what type of pantsu do you fancy?
kamewota=k-tan is a suprising fact. I had never imagined she was k-tan. Kamewota's address and her passion for a johnny's talent barred me from reckoning she was k-tan.
In my image k-tan was not a kind of girl who was likely to be the victim of johhnny's.
>>421 I didn't write that. My life isn't that exciting at the moment. I'm more or less like an at-home-wife this month, as my partner and I are moving soon. We were supposed to move at the end of this month, but some unexpected issues cropped up and now it might be a few weeks later.
>>424 I'm not racist, I find a wide variety of looks appealing.
That Kamenashi guy, didn't he play a character in one of the Gokusen series? Pretty cute, but nothing I'd obsess about. Though one thing that always strikes me about guys with that sort of hair is how much they somehow remind me of kittens. Makes me want to pet their hair, as if they are some sort of house cat.
To be honest I think she has good powerful, high tone voice as a prosinger and has good lookings too. I guess her English intonation is too influenced by American acccent, don't you think?
She could have a chance as a commercial singer but she moves the other way around.
How important is Odinism and stories surrounding it, like viking invasion?
I might be called right winger. But I don't have much interest in japanese myth and imperial family. I guess these things should be preserved but these don't excite me much. these are not related to daily life.
If we're discussing more "viking" style music, I prefer Nordman. I only have two of their albums, I should probably buy the rest some day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqE8Um9t8CU Beautiful song, great lyrics. Apparently Ultima Thule made a cover of it, yuck. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vakawRdQkmw and so on. The band is good stuff. I prefer my ethnorock without disgusting racism.
By the way, the natives of Scandinavia are the Sami people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_people They're pretty awesome, but unfortunately like virtually all indigenous people they've gotten the short end of the stick.
>>428 I wish. I'm not likely to reproduce, though.
>>427 I don't know how important Odinism is in general in Sweden. I'm very fond of those stories though. Especially the crazy antics of Thor. Slightly related, the book Röde Orm is pretty fun and great. I own two copies of it, even. Though that is mostly because they are two different editions with different covers, from two different publishers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Long_Ships
If you find the song beautiful and nostalg, you don't have to hide. The song is originally from danish rock band, white lion. White lion is not racist band and composer, Mike Tramp has wife from southeast Asia.
He is very cool. Is he your future husband? You might not know who cool-tak and noriaki. I think cool tak and noriak are comparable to techno viking. They are pride of Japan.
>>431 I just would like to point out that it is possible to be racist and still gleefully fraternise with "inferior" individuals. One can even be "inferior" yet still discriminate against the group one belongs to. There are plenty of homosexual homophobes, or misogynous women, for instance.
One of my dear friends is ethnically a Jew, but since he looks really "Aryan", at one point an active Nazi befriended him. That Nazi's attitude was more or less "Jews in general are bad, but you don't count because you're cool and look pure"
http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/@0_mall/bigbe2/cabinet/200904_02/21817.jpg This vehicle is called valkyrie. I didn't know what valkyrie was. Because it was pronunced English way like vaelkiri:. Japanese generally call it like walcure, German way. Word Valkyrie(walcure) is widely known in japan, probably spread by Wagner's music in Apocalypse Now.
I, the resident Kamewota of this thread, is a non-Nordic, Non-Japanese eccentric foreigner living in the UK. Don't confuse me with the Nordics of this thread. Yes Kame has ben likened to a kitten. The catboy has grown up under the supervision of Ms Koizumi Kyoko, to become a young male cat. KyonKyon loves cats.
You and I are going to be competing for the role of English teacher, truly! I graduate this year in Accounting, but because employment is worthless here, I'm going to become an ALT for a couple of years until the recession dies.
>>441 with an approach to intoxication like that, no wonder Japanese would be suspicious and wary of foreigners. Who would want their society to go corrupt? >>438 -wota is a label for people who are obsessed with something I think.(ota comes from otaku? correct me if I'm wrng please) >>439 In Japan is it considered a sign to start a relationship with someone, if you invite them to the dance floor? They looked like they wanted the dance, but were too shy, so I went over and pulled them into our group. How would that be perceived in Japan? At the end of the night, we all shook hands and went away alone. A Singaporean man once asked me, upon seeing the Tango class at college, whether the partners were singles.I explained to them that all participants are singles. I was shocked when he said" I would never let my wife dance like that with another man"!! I am trying understand what is acceptable in the East. >>444 I would dance with you too, if you were there.

Also, I hate how people keep using vagina when they mean vulva or mons pubis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Poolside_03.jpg is not an image of a vagina. The vagina is internal, and it makes as little sense calling your vulva your vagina, as calling your scrotum or penis your urethra.
>>461 That is not relevant. Many people don't even say vagina, they just refer to it as if it were a dirty word. Like "vajayjay" or "vagoo". The right words should be used for the right things. If you don't like vulva, then invent a different nickname for it. Don't just use a close word for it instead, that is euphemism done severely wrong. A leg is not a knee, the thigh is not the hamstring, your torso is not your lungs, and your head is not the cerebellum, no matter how much cooler the latter ones might sound.
>>467 yeah, I've managed to locate a decent Asian supermarket in my city. I guess reading Japanese recipes will be a lot less frustrating from now on. I went in, only planning to buy a few things for at most 10 bucks or so (most importantly a pack of 味噌), but ended up blowing 60 Euros on all kinds of sauces, candy, noodles, pastes, drinks, canned fish and what have you.
The city I'll be in this summer has an Asian supermarket next to a Kinokuniya. I wonder how much money I'll end up spending... I hope I don't get fat from all the Pocky.
>>472 when I want to enter the supermarket, the door just won't open. Instead, the door turns red and a female voice saying "access denied" sounds from a speaker.
>>469 Nah, they sell that stuff in every normal grocery store around here, albeit under a different name (Mikado).
>>470 >Kinokuniya cool, I wish I had something like that over here. I do have access to a very small Japanese book shop that I've checked out today, but they don't have much that would interest me. The only fields they're fairly well-stocked in are fashion and gossip magazines (not interested), European philosophy (can read that in European languages), dictionaries (already have everything I need), and manga (nice, but I still have like 15 unread volumes sitting on my shelf). But maybe it's at least cheaper to order stuff through them than amazon/yesasia, I'll see about that when I order my next batch of books.
She used to bake me cookies, and read me bedtime stories. She used to take me on trips all over the world; we scaled Mt. Everest, and dived down to the deepest parts of the Mariana Trench.
Ah, seems like the ban was finally lifted.. I've done it for the first time in about a month. The last time I posted here is when admins lifted the ban. As I said then, why did they start banning people just because one of us makes a complain about the Democratic Party, the loopy Prime Minister? I don't want to be banned that easily without making any mistake on my part. It's really frustrating.
>>499 Who advertises it? I don't think it's Glico, though..
///////////////////////////////////////////////// But now that I've searched, it actually is a Glico product.. Hmm, it's more like advertising a new photocopier, isn't it?
>>499 Oh, hey, your name. That reminds me. I watched on the news that the general election was conducted in the UK and that LDP and the workers party (is that correct?) decided to make a coalition government. How do you feel about it? Do you agree or disagree with their decision? Do you think it'll work? How's the approval rate now?
As for Japan's current administration, I really am not happy with it. If you asked around in Japan, most people would say NO to Hatoyama, the current prime minster, who admitted in the 1 on 1 debate the other day that he was surely loopy. I'm sick of it. The latest poll shows that the current downturn in the number of people who approve Hatoyama administration is primarily due to his inability to make decisions, and I think there are many more reasons why. I didn't vote for the Democratic Party, coz I knew things would never go in the right direction. And I was right. He's getting loopier. Luckily, we have an election this summer. We should make him pay.
This thread has become really inactive. Most people, who I had a chat with ages ago, all seem to have left here until now. I miss even the Noriaki da King guy. lol
>>505 Ega-chan is really popular among 2chers, isn't he? lol When I had a look on a "currencies" thread, I often saw his AAs anytime the charts went up so suddenly and sharply. That was timely and funny.
I'm going to live in the USA for July, August and September, in New york, basing my living on New York Luthern Church. It would be a fascinating time living in Christ and Christ living in me. What do you think?
I would be living in a different place If I were you. Think this way, there are churches in Japan as well and it is out of the question to live there if you aren't a Christian, so do you want to do the same in Japan?
Anyhow, it might be a good experience. It's like visitors to Japan living in a temple or a shrine.
I had been living basing my living on Church until 9 years ago. But for 8 years after that, I was forced to live without church until March last year thou I had one more year till retirement. So I quit working as a Miyazaki prefectural English teacher. Miyazaki prefectore education committee had been forcing some teachers into hardship and had been killng them by suiciding. And I was one of the victims being made unable to go to church on Sundays when I had to work for corresspondence system learnig senior high schooling. So I quit and came to Tokyo on April 1st last year. Since then I haven't missed a single Sunday church prayer service. On Sundays I pray in an English Sunday worship service and Japanese Sunday service, and sometimes even evening English service. Besides Sunday services, I attend one or two English Bible class. Jesus is everything to me because He saved me when I was trying to suicide in dark dark dispar whe I was about 35 years of age , for which I am 60 years of age now.
>>502 It seems to be going pretty smoothly, but it's early days yet. A government is usually chosen by the first party past a set number of locally elected 'seats'. This time, of course, nobody made it past that point. The Conservative party won, technically, but didn't have a majority vote, so the Liberal Democrat party joined up with them, bringing the numbers to a majority government. So even though the Liberal Democrats came in third place, they're in a much, much stronger position than the Labour party, who came second (and were ousted from power). Personally, I voted Liberal Democrats, so even though my local council is still Labour-run (most of North-East England is loyal to Labour... Tony Blair is from just a few miles down the road), I'm pretty happy with the results. So far, anyway. As for approval ratings, 64% of voters approve of the coalition. 87% Conservative voters approve, and 77% LibDem voters approve. Labour voters, of course, have a different opinion.
If Boris Johnson had been running as leader of the Conservative Party, I'd have voted for them.
I was surprised to hear that Liberal Democratic Party is quite a socialist party, which is contrary to Liberal Democratic Party in Japan which is corrupted and is being broken down.
>>514 I suppose there are quite a few LibDem policies which seem quite socialist, and even though there are a few policies which were aimed at easing the burden for poorer families, they're reasonably class-neutral.
It's the Labour party which is mainly seen as the most socialist, though, having red as the party colour, being a member of Socialist International, and trying to appear to support the common workers (and non-workers, for that matter).
Oh, I meant to add that one of the main agreements the Conservatives had to agree to before LibDem would join them, was to hold a referendum on reforming the entire election system, to make it fairer. Neither Conservatives nor Labour would agree to change it outright, but they both agreed to let us have a say in whether it should change. Which it should.
>>513 64 percent. I see. People's expectation is set high now. What do you think about Euro? The labor party says the UK should put some distance from it if I'm not mistaken.
Ah, his fashion sense. It's the worst. But the shirt he was wearing at the barbecue looked good on him in a sense. The shirt made me think he's quite loopy. You know, he can't even decide on colour. So he wanted green, red, yellow, purple and blue. He doesn't even know we gave him the red card, though.
>>514 Personally, Ozawa is the one who's rotten. LDP is far beter than DPJ. Don't tell me you think LDP is corrupted because several TV commentators says so.
Tony Blair was leader of the Labor party, which is seen as the most socialist, but he was just a neo-conservative in foreign policy. So, it doesn't really matter whether they are lefties or righies, I guess.
>>515 >reforming the entire election system, to make it fairer. That made news here in Japan. Even here it became clear and obvious last year that it couldn't reflect voters opinions. Japan followed the English election system in order to establish what they say is two party system like the Labor and the Conservative in your country.
>>524 I know what you mean. He is pulling strings behind the scene, Ozawa.. He should be punished now of course. It's not reasonable if he gets away with it. Be that as it may, Hatoyama bet us his prime minister position that he would definitely solve the base issue no later than the end of May, and he is going to fail without any responsibility to fulfill? No, that's all his fault.
The members of the DPJ are morally corrupted. That's for sure. Why could the minster of agriculture smirk even when he failed to encompass the foot-and-mouth disease disaster that happened a month ago? Why didn't Kobayashi Chiyomi quit even after it came out that she breached the law? I'd say DPJ is the worst party we ever had in recent history of Japan.
>>530 I have no idea what you meant by Katawa Shoujo. Guess it's a girl, but I don't know why she's out. Can you explain for the background info on that?
www.katawa-shoujo.com A free visual novel game (only complete up to Act 1 so far) about dating girls at a school for students with disabilities. Japanese language blog is at www.katawashoujo-ja.blogspot.com
>>517 Ah, the Euro. People here are still unsure about that. Both Labour and Conservatives are wishing to keep the Pound as the national currency, but LibDems are generally more EU-oriented, so if they were the majority government, there would have been a referendum on switching to the Euro. They would try and convince us it's the right thing to do too. But at this point in time, they're keeping very quiet about it. Probably because of the current situation in the rest of the EU and with the Euro being so weak right now.
>>520 Though the Labour Party is seen more as a socialist party because of its roots and symbols, it's much more centre-left these days. Though... our former Home Secretary (and later Justice Secretary), Jack Straw, was a member of the Communist Party.
We've heard quite a bit about his wife too. About how she eats the sun every morning, how she used to know Tom Cruise when he was incarnated as a Japanese in a past life, and when her spirit took a trip to Venus on a UFO.
>>521 We haven't had the chance to vote on it yet, as the new government is still settling in, but I'm pretty certain it'll change in favour of a Proportional Representation system, rather than the First Past the Post system we have now.
>>533 As far as I know, it may be wise to see how the Euro going to be. If I were from Germany, I'd get upset to hear the tax money was used for Greece, no matter how complicated things were.
It's Hatoyama Miyuki you were talking about, right? Now that the approval rate of his administration went down (come to think of it, it's been keeping going down from the start; it never went up even once. And I'm sure it's not hit the low now. Down, down, down. ), she's making herself unseen in public. The columnist who described him as "loopy" was quite right. The word also goes for his wife. And I feel irritated and frustrated when I hear the word fraternalism, which Hatoyama used to use a lot when he became PM. Do you think you can trust a person who's so fickle what he says in the morning changes in the evening and that changes next day which changes a week later, and in the end he doesn't remember what he says a month later? Hatoyama said clearly he would quit if he wasn't able to convince his ministers, Okinawan people and America until the 31th of May. And he's saying he's going to give a try after that? Don't make fun of us. Liar..
>>535 Do you honestly believe he has what it takes to be Prime Minister? No, I don't think so. I have seen the scene many times when he's asked a question concerning financing and accounting, couldn't answer it, and lost his temper. He's not worthy of Prime Ministry. All he can do is shout and try to silence people. I don't trust in him any more than in Hatoyama.
>>534 Ah, sorry - you're right, it's Hatoyama Miyuki I meant. Often I go back and add sentences and this time it was in the wrong place, which made it look like I was talking about Jack Straw's wife.
Wives of politicians here never really try to stand out. They might speak a little during campaigns, but generally try not to draw attention to themselves. Ah... the Daily Mail doesn't really like Nick Clegg (LibDem leader) very much because of the fact that his wife is Spanish and not British, and that they gave their children Spanish names.
Hatoyama is the loopy king of tax evasion. The only reason he's not arrested is because he's the current Prime Minister. If he steps down, then there's a strong possibility that he'll be in jail in the end. That's why he sticks to the PM title.
>>541 Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, has said he (himself) tried cocaine at university, and marijuana before university. He and Cameron went to the same university and were in the same club (along with George Osborne, our new Chancellor). Saw a documentary about them a few months back, and Cameron was pretty laid-back at university, and didn't really appear to make much of an effort.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiDoPEBEhvI He opposes the racist group in the UK while he has a tight connection with some Euro neo-nazis. Is he sort of a hypocrite? I'm confused.
>>538 >Wives of politicians here never really try to stand out. That's usually the case here in Japan. Hatoyama Miyuki is quite exceptional. While we are on the subject, I've seen her appearing on TV variety shows several times, and the hosts unconditionally treated her like a celeb or something. AH, I'm reminded that she also used "fraternalism" a lot. That gets on my nerve.. Her husband tried to evade Tax and he's still pretending he didn't know what was going on. I want to ask her if fraternalists don't have to pay taxes.
I haven't heard of the Daily Mail, but I wonder if this Nick's wife doesn't have English nationality even after the marriage.
What do you want from government in Japan? I want all poor people become not poor. I want the government reduce the number of suicide to a half of what is now.
>>545 I guess basically no one is opposed to your opinion; it'd be an ideal world. However, what the Democratic Party of Japan says is ridiculous. They decided to give households with a child or children under 15 yo a monthly allowance of 13,000 according to the number of children they have, but there's no assurance they can do that; there's not enough revenue to achieve the policy. In fact, in most of the case, even parents who have children have to pay more tax than they get from the child benefit system, and that means most people are made to pay more tax than before. That's quite silly. In addition, they got past a law called "basic environmental protection" or something, but it's also quite meaningless and it would crucify ordinary Japanese people. It says we should cut 25 percent of the gas emission, but the loopy members of the party has never make clear how to do that. Probably they are thinking of buying "air" from other countries, and in order to do that, they say they have to raise tax. They are mad. I strongly suggest they quit this nonsense now. Also, about the suicide issue, there's more the government should do. Safety nets and mental support should do. I'm not sure Hatoyama really have an idea, though..
>>548 As you may know, the Hatoyama administration has messed it all up and so I doubt they can solve the issue smoothly. According to the new report, he decided to fill the sea with mud, but most people in the right mind would say that he surely broke the promise that he would never do that. He just wanted to make his plan look feasible, but I'm sure it'll fail. All I want to say is this; Hatoyama sucks.
See Hatoyama's press conferences and you'll notice Hatoyama looks uneasy and worried when making statements. And his eyes, what does he look? His eyes seem unfocused and dreamy. There's something wrong with him. That's written on his face.
>>544 The Daily Mail is known to be quite nationalistic and anti-immigration, reporting mainly on... the evils of foreign countries, the injustice of the justice system, paedophiles, the royal family, and how everything can give you cancer.
Anyway, despite marrying him, Clegg's wife hasn't taken British citizenship. She used to work as an advisor on trade law, economic relations and the Middle East for both the EU and British government. She now works as head of international trade law for a large, international law firm.
Yesterday, I delivered Japan Communist Party handbills in front of Myogadani Station, where I looked eyes of the walking people and greeted smiling. They also smiled at me, and many of them took handbills from my hand.
>>555 Are all members of the Communist Party NEETs? If not, what are you Communists doing in evil capitalist Japan anyway? Don't you realize that, simply by living and working here, you are helping the corrupt capitalist system and its imperialist American overlords? Go to the glorious Communist paradise of North Korea and help the Dear Leader if you want to contribute to moving the world in the right direction.
>>553 He's just loopy. That means he lacks common sense, in my opinion. He turns his back on the reality. He has the gift for provoking people without meaning to. He didn't deserve to be Prime Minister. According to a news article, most people say he lacks leadership skills. He doesn't have the ability to make decisions. Don't forget he's loopy.
I don't have an expectation to Japanese soccer team. Because Japaenese soccer team has been beated in the W cup many times. They can't win, rather, never win. And in this time, they can't do again, I think. So, I don't wanna watch the match of Japanese vs a country's soccer team, and I wonder why do the Japanese soccer freaks continue to encourage to them?
I don't think I would be feel any bad if Japan's world cup ended up in a 3-streak defeat. Actually, I have no particular feelings with today's game because I think it was a matter of course. Then I have realized a great fact that if we have no hope, then we can be free from frustration. I want to share this feelings with all the Japanese people. Let's be pessimistic, then we can find God in our life.
Germany usually ends up reaching at least the semi-finals. But I don't care about football. When there's an important match with a German or Turkish team playing, I usually go to the gym. Hardly anyone is there during those times, so I never have to wait until someone else finishes his reps on the machine I want to use next.
>>566 It's a national character of Japanese. Remember WW2. How many people realized that they wouldn't be able to make a win in the battle. But they send lots and lots of young boys to TOKKOTAI without thinking how weak they are. They closed their eyes, and just imagened they would be able to make a win by their death. So crazy.
>>572 Yes,that's so crazy. And war is war. But make sure I'm talking without any nationalisms. In fact,as you can see my bad English,I'm a Japanese guy. I wanted to talk just about a national character of most Japanese. And I think the nuclear bombs aren't issue of national characters.
>>573 Just so you know, imagine what it would be to board on a plane with explosives by which you're ordered to bomber a vessle in a way you crashes the plane into it with yourself. Imagine what they would have thought how their family and descendants, I mean, you, would be treated if they lose the war in an era that almost all of colored countries were colonies of the Western countries. Don't mix up their spirit with desperation. I'm not talking about nationalism either, I'm talking about humanity.
I told "WITHOUT nationalism". So I didn't say you were talking "about "nationalism. I just felt you were talking by nationalism. Because when I told about tokkotai, you told about nuclear bomb. I also wanna talk about humanity. But I think that national traits are there, too.
>>573 The city of Hiroshima and the city of Nakasaki had their people and all lives disappear at once. We are the only nation who had the nuclear bomb kill counless people. We are the nation who must work hardest for abolishment of newclear weapons.
>>567 I know controversial goal by England. England barely(narrowly?) won the world cup by possible biased refree and the homegame advantage. I don't know whether England deserved the world champion. I don't have many knowledage about the world cup 1966.
Korea in 2002 is still new to me and Italy won world cup by fraud and Spain seems to have gone up to final games by false judges in their world cup. So I become suspicios of the matches in England too.
As for England national team now, it's not too good but you have more chance than before, do you? Rooney is possibly world top three player and at his best time, MF plyaers are very uncomprably powerful. Defenders are good too.
>>542 Do you know Boris Johnson is turkish descent? ofcourse he is tremendously immersed with English blood. He marries half-Indian woman, doesn't he?
Some british white nationalists argued how he looked non-white on the web, citing his asian characteristics, this and that. That was funny. They must have not liked his policy and his marriage. He looks quite aryan and looks typical of English elite.
I had been forced not to go to church every Sunday for 8 years by Miyazaki Prefecture education committee because they forced me, knowing that I am a Christian, not to go to church on Sundays by keeping me within correspondence system learning senior high school for 8 years and intending to keep me one more year until I got to the retirement age. I quit working there one year before my retirement age, and since then I haven't missed even one day going to church on Sunday. Even more, I go to church three days in one week, going to Sunday service and Thursday and Friday Bible study classes. I am completely content living my life basing on Church. Is going to church the greatest pleasure to you?
Japan Communist Party criticises Democratic Party on its contary to democracy measure to Okinawa problems. Halperin an ex-adviser of President criticises Democratic Party for its ignoring of the voice of Okinawans.
Have you guys ever played non-Japanese video games? I didn't used to play even a single one of them, but for some reason Dragon Age appealed to me, and so I just get a start on it. I'm not used to the formats, I mean, when conversation scenes between the main character and subs appear, I have to make a choice of how to respond. And that makes me think sometimes - like you can kill ordinary persons without mercy - that wouldn't happen in Japanese video games like Dragon Quest. And though I can use AI to make my allies act on my wish, but I find it a little tough to make such settings. It's complicated. But over all, Dragon Age is quite interesting, even though I sometimes have trouble understanding what's going on due to the language. It's not for learners, of course. I often come across English expressions that are hard to get, and I need to get used to their pronunciations and accents.
>>586 yep. I'm sick of Japanese RPG, especially used animation-like character. I think japanese RPG haven't improved even a bit for decades.
I haven't played "洋ゲー" since last january. "洋ゲー"stand for the game made in somewhere outside of Japan in English. pronunciation of this word is "you ge-"
anyway, if you like Dragon Age, I strongly recommend you The Witcher. in combat, I often heard The Witcher is inferior to Dragon Age. But, The story line of The Witcher is awesome. it is grim and ruthless.
As you mentiond Dragon Age, The expression of The Witcher is also not suitable for lerneres of English. I often stumbled over trying to understand what they said. every time I stuck, I referred to online dictionary.
even though if you are not fluent in English, many troubles and hardships will be waiting for you, The Witcher is worth playing.
>>586 Are you playing that game on a console? I've heard that the PC version is the best because it's easier to control the characters with a mouse and keyboard.
>>587 You're quite knowledgable. The Witcher, ok, I'll check afterwards.
You were using an online dictionary while playing the game? Wow, that must have been a pain. As for me, I can't be bothered to do so. Let's say there's this word I encountered just now which I wasn't sure exactly what's the meaning of - it's cloister. Let me see... And I'm just done checking. Hmm, I'd say there's no chance for me to actually use it. lol But the idea of the word is quite simple.. Anyhow, if I want to understand the story of the game better, I should think of looking up some unknown words like this. Mind you, it'll take lots of time doing that.. What should I do? If there were a word list or something that's specifically meant for people like me to refer to, it'd be wonderful, though.
>>591 Nope, I'm playing it on the computer. I didn't compare it with the PS3 or Xbox version, but there was no choice, I mean, I don't have those consoles. So I happened to choose the best. lol Having said that, I'm not so used to how to move my cute elf girl on the keyboard, though.
These kinds of games use a lot of words that you wouldn't hear every day. It's good enough just to be able to remember the meaning. You probably wouldn't use them anywhere except for writing a book, so don't worry too much!
>>581 Johnson's ancestry is pretty well known now, thanks to a BBC show which takes well-known personalities and helps them trace their family tree. His great grandfather was an Interior Minister in the Ottoman Empire, before being assassinated during the Turkish War of Independence. He is also directly descended from King George II, though he was German and only became king because his (also German) father reigned here before him, being the closest Protestant relative to Queen Anne, once she died. As you say, though, he's very stereotypical as a member of the English upper-class, but is never condescending or patronising, and is able to laugh at himself when he does something stupid. Which is quite often.
>>586-587 In my youth, before choosing the path I took, it was my ambition to eventually work for the company that made Dragon Age - A company called BioWare, founded by two medical doctors in Canada. They're generally pretty polished, with good stories. The games, I mean, not the doctors.
>>579 To be honest, I don't really know that much about what happened, or about football in general. It's not really my thing, but we hear so much about it on television and the radio. Rooney's pretty much the driving force in England's hopes of a win this year, you've got that right.
>>595 So you are (were?) a fan of video games, right? I think I understand why you were interested in BioWare, When I saw Dragon Age game play videos on Niconico and got interested, I read up on the game on the Internet and found out that BioWare had been a good developer for long, but the article I read didn't say anything about two doctors at all. That's really interesting, because there seems no such element at all. Rather, it's the exact opposite. lol Doctors who have knowledge on computer programming sound quite intriguing. Just out of curiosity, I guess you completed Dragon Age already. Am I wrong? lol I've reached Red Cliff, where I'm supposed to meet King Ealmon. Anyway, what I want to do now is to get in a relationship with Leliana. I'm a female elf, though.
>506 To be precise, you're wrong. It's "Noriaki is da REAL," not "Noriaki da King."
I understand why you remember the phrase wrong, cause any king around the world in human history would/woud've knelt down before his presense. Lots of FAKE rappers have been around but no one except Noriaki is da REAL thing. He's got a story to tell in his rap. And don't forget his sperb rapping skill.
50 cent lost confidence when he listened to Noriaki's rap and he almost decided to throw away his career as a rapper but Noriai, being so nice, encourged him to be confident and told him some tips to be a better rapper.
>>586 If you are looking for an RPG that is good for learning English, you should check out The Elder Scrolls. I've become fluent in English almost exclusively by way and for the purpose of playing the third part of that series, Morrowind. That was quite some time ago, and my English back then was not as good as yours is now. The fourth installment (TES4: Oblivion) came out a few years ago. I haven't played it though, mainly because I've become somewhat disinterested in computer games in the meantime. But I bet if they had made a 完全日本語版 of it, with all the spoken dialog re-enacted by Japanese voice actors, I would've played the shit out of it and would be fluent in Japanese by now.
Right now, I play a session of DraculaX: 月下の夜想曲 every now and then. It's a very good game, and I missed out on it back when it was released. But it doesn't have a lot of dialog, the only new words I remember learning from it being コウモリ and 十字架.
Talking about RPGs? I'd recommend this video game but before you shell out los of money, you can check out a demo of the game. Innovative and intriguing. You guys will never get disaponted.
Social Democratic Party leader Fukushima is dismissed as Minister of State for Consumer Affairs and Food Safety, Social Affairs by Prime Minister Hatoyama. I think it's natural and she is just a burden on the Hatoyama Administration. However, she doesn't realize that, and began critisizing him for dismissing her. I wonder if she is just a super loopy too.
>>603 I know she's laying the ground work for the next election this summer. All she's doing now is aimed for getting as much public attention as she can. As you probably know, she's going to run for the election. She wants to keep seated in the Diet. That explains why she's making commotions like that. Be that as it may, however, I don't think "loopy" doesn't apply to her deed. Let me note this in the first place. I'd never vote for SDP coz the idea the small party has concerning the national security is quite ridiculous, considering the situation Japan is in now - we are faced with China, North Korea, and Russia. We need to be properly armed if we don't want to be attacked and bombed. That said, Fukushima has been saying she wanted to remove the bases from Okinawa all along, so in a sense she tried to do what she promised. I commend her ONLY in this respect. Again, I'm against her ideas, such as "even when a police man is faced with a cruel murderer he should not trigger a gun, he may be killed, but it's ok." See how stupid she is? Ok, that's that. Let's get back to the point. Hatoyama is the one who won the title of the loopy king of Tax evasion. At first he encouraged Okinawan people who are opposed to having American bases in Okinawa and he kept saying he had great plans in mind, and he changed his opinion? Nah, that's not understandable. He's loopy. I don't trust him at all.
>>606 We should set the new record. Loopy is all the rage in Japan now. lol People dislike him. I guess the approval rates that are supposed to be conducted this weekend will go down to under 20.
>>609 I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but No, it's not always so, quate, "The term of a member of the House of Councilors is six years and half of the members are elected every three years" So Fukushima is accused of her deed by those who are suspicious she's barking because she has to contest a seat this summer. And I think the criticise is to the point. Should she not run for the election, she wouldn't have gone this far.
Arnold, the character name in the drama is dead. So sad.
The tiny black man in the drama, "Different stroke."
It was aired with different title here in Japan.
It was a story where white family adopted Black brothers. One of them is Arnold, the small guy. Newspaper says he didn't grow up physically because of a kidney diease he suffered as a child. I love the white girl in the family called Kimbrly. Her boobs was very appealing for me as a junior high student back then.
I don't think HATOYAMA can govern this country from now on, because he easily changes his past comments and don't keep his words. The Prime Minister must originally be responsible for everything he has done and otherwise he should regisin his current position immediately. People say he is the worst Prime Minister in the long history. He may be a person who ruin this country until it's never to be recovered.
>>617 As I'm sure you may know, the latest approval rates are down, 17 percent to 19 percent, while disapproval rates are about 70 on average. In a nutshell, Hatoyama administration is a lame duck. He can't do anything any more. He should step down NOW!
>>618 I don't know why the approval rates of HATOYAMA adoministration is still so high. And I'm surprised there are still so many peple who are deceived. They must recognize immediately how much this Japan is exposed to the danger and the threats of the countries around this country. If we continued to allow LOOPY'S to govern this country with the stupid policies anymore, peaceful future could be expected.
>>619 According to the 20 percent core base theory, about 20 percent of the Japanese people are the voters base for Democratic Party, so even some of them started to quit supporting Hatoyama. That means a lot to the rest of us.
>>620 Are you kidding? It's only 17 percent at best. 70 percent is against Hatoyama. His party will lose the next election. That's for sure. The more important thing is, LDP can win trust from voters. If LDP doesn't win, then Ozawa will try to form a new coalition government. That would be the worst ending. He'll do anything he likes that would harm most Japanese people.
>>621 I'm serious. 17 percent is still so high. Around 10 percent is normal and under 5 percent is even better, because I'm concerend that DP may use every unfair measure they can take in oreder to win the election. You may think I'm too worried, but they have sticky and strong weapons such as the mass media, the partial root of evil spreading through this country. HATOYAMA and OZAWA is just a cancer of Japan. We must protect this wonderful country from being ruined.
>>623 I agree with you mostly, and according to the niconico poll, it's only 5 percent approval. So those who use the Internet to read news are sharply against Hatoyama. Older generations, mainly in their 60 or higher, still use legacy media to retrieve information and no wonder some of them still don't realize Democratic Party is injustice. What we can do for now is let them know the truth. They support DP out of their innocent ignorance.
>>624 I think so, too. People who are "DANKAI" or more aged generations seem unlikely to think about Jananese future seriously, and what is worse, almost all of them like to watch NHK and strongly believe the TV programs or information provided by it is almost true. It's hard to make the people persisting in one belief realize that they should change their thoughts. What younger generations can do is go to the polls and choose the statemen/women truely hoping to change this country better.
>>625 Oh? It's conducted when you are on Niconico, and you are suddenly linked to a questionnaire video, then you are asked to answer all questions within 200 seconds, one person can vote only once. How many people answer? It's about 100,000. The admins break down data into each category - like approval rates in each generation. As for me, I happened to take part in the poll once. I'd say it's safe to say it's the voice of the Internet users. Though, of course, that doesn't mean all the Japanese people.
>>626 I'll definitely go vote for LDP this summer. Make Hatoyama know he should get out!
Hey, I heard that another king of tax evation appeared in England. I'm concerned the british government is also loopy. You know, after it came to light Hatoyama tried to evade tax, he started to lose his trust completely and just within a window of 8 months the approval rate reached 17 percent.
>636 They are a group of people that don't like the Obama administration. I personally don't like them very much though; they're the same people that said "love it or leave it" when George Bush was in office.
They think that the United Stats is going to become some Socialistic half-Communist tyrannic empire that wants to enslave their children and kill old people (they actually thought the Health Care bill included killing old people). The same people also pulled their kids out of school when a speech that Mr. Obama made for the nation's students was supposed to be shown because they thought it would be propaganda.
>>639 Last I heard, Tea Party has become sort of influential.
>>641 Speaking of games, I'm playing Dragon Age as I said before, and it seems hard to get the hang of it. I haven't acquired coercion skill and so failed to convince NPCs several times. How pathetic.
>>642 Yea, a lot of candidates for State elections are trying to get their votes. That's a good thing for the Democrats, though, because when a party splits only half of the votes count against the other major party.
In this globalized world we're living in, being monolingual makes you isolated both culturally and politically. Even if you're not traveling anywhere you still have plenty of opportunity to use the language you've learned. You can experience media in its original language (I always try to do that), communicate with people from different countries through the internet and get a different perspectives on global events by reading news from other countries. Ethnocentricity was cool 200-300 years ago during the colonial age.
The video is about 15 years old, but I think Ozawa has been no different than he used to be 15 years ago. What he is doing is pulling strings behind the scene. It's disgusting. Besides, Ishibashi Takaaki of Tunnels was quite witty and sarcastic against Ozawa at that time. Hope Takaaki will do the same again now.
What do you think of his magic, using an i-pad. I'm impressed with his magic but it seems like quite a lot of people commented there calling hime fake or anything. Probably people there are apple products haters and couldn't help but being rude to him, too. Subbed in English so you can enjoy his tricks in English.
If you want more, you can check this video, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofp_ffk0LM4 I'm sure even people who claim the magician in the first vid is fake will agree this man in the second vid is REAL.
in 2ch, here, we have seen much political actibities by those who is zealous to support their favorite political group. you can clearly see that in this thread.
so, all we have to do is to neglect such topics. generally the people contribute to 2ch hate those contributores and those who reply them.
just neglect them or you are regarded as one of them.
>>652 You misunderstood me. I didn't say she should not run for the election. "If she should not run for the election, she wouldn't have gone this far." That's it.
By the way, break news. Hatoyama quit! He step down.
The horrible things strikes me. That is, Ozawa hinding from the scene for a while before the election, a new person getting ahead, voters will be tricked into believing Democratic Party is believable.
Hatoyama talks about the reasons of his resignation without any reflection, which meks me irristibally angry. How do the Japanese think about his stupid attitudes and comments in the coverage? Can we really leave Janapese future to the fool party like this? The size of Hatoyama's brain must be the same as that of pigeons. He is definately the worst Prime Minister and just a shame of Japan.
Here's a funny story. One day on 4chan's '/jp/ - Otaku Culture' board somebody asked for a translation to a panel in a hentai manga. It meant 'The pleasure of being cummed inside' but everybody began to argue about whether it'd be better to just translate it as "I love to be cummed in" ,ect They then continued to argue about whether it even mattered if you actually translate hentai or just put text into the boxes because the story isn't really the point.
Now on /jp/ if you ask them to translate anything from Japanese to English the first reply will always be: My Japanese is a like shaky... but I think it has something to do with pleasure, and cumming. You can even try it yourself.
About Hatoyama's resignation. I really think now it's time to redo the Restoration. Because, in my view, all political parties are hopeless in Japan today. I wonder who is the competent politician? I don't know at all.
>>656 What fact do I have to confirm? I don't have any confidence in her. She's unrealistic.
>>660 I'm not completely sure if what you meant by the Restoration was, like, all the current political parties should be disbanded once and then they should form new parties only if their basic policies and thoughts are shared. But if that's the case, yeah, I agree with you totally. We shouldn't support Democratic Party in order to achieve this. If DP has enough seats in the Diet, then they'll say, " voters gave us a chance to do anything we like". That'd be the worst. The least we could do to avoid such situation is to vote against Democratic Party and make them understand what we expect politics to be. That's why I'm on your side.
Now to answer your question, able politicians...yeah...I think that depends on personal lookouts on life, you know, there might be a person who still believes Hatoyama is a good politician, but in my opinion, Ishiba shigeru deserves your attention, if you are the type of person who felt irritated at the news that mouth-and-foot disease is spreading in Miyazaki prefecture or that Hatoyama was responsible for causing trouble in getting rid of the dangerousness of Futenma Camp. He knows what he's doing. He's trustworthy. Anyway, I think it's best for you to see Niconico videos in the political section.
>>661 Indeed, Sigreru Ishiba may be trustworthy. I do think his speaking is always simple and easy to people. But, to my surprise, he does believes in UFO. I think he is too obedient and doesn't doubt if UFO really exists or not. At the point, I can't have high opinion about him. Because, I don't believe in the occult at all. If you say "UFO really exists!", let me see the testimony. That are two testimonies; a real UFO and aliens are in. I wonder if occult freaks can show anti-occult freaks including me that.
>>670 His way of explaining things is simple but quite logical, and about UFO, I did see a video on YT when he mentioned it. In my opinion, he wasn't too serious about it coz he seemed just to have fun talking about UFO. Let me point out this: He's realistic when it comes to the security issue. I'm sure you know about that, though..
Beside that, have you heard that Hatoyama actually gave his companions lots of money? He said he didn't do that... Liar..
I think Japanese names shouldn't be romanized. Nobody who doesn't speak Japanese can remember those convolutions of syllables anyway. Instead, people should use a translation of the meaning of the characters that make up their name. Like, someone named 真田 wouldn't be called "Sanada" abroad, but instead "Truefield." How cool is that? I wouldn't mind being called Mr. Truefield. Much better than people calling you Sadanada or Salada, isn't it?
>>673 Then, what would 佐藤 be? 鳩山元総理 would be ex Prime Minister PigeonMountain? That's silly. If CNN called him that way, Japanese audience would hardly stop laughing.
>>680 Sorry to disappont you, but I have to inform you that he's not an able person. On the contrary, he'll do harm to the Japanese society. I'm not sure you heard about this, but let me take it as an example; Sengoku tried to deregulate the doctor lisence, he said Japan was going to let people practice medicine without being licensed in Japan.. And I remember he has some kind of connection with Korean doctors, which suggest that he plans to let Korean plastic surgeons earn huge money. Who can be sure there'll be no trouble with such doctors? He's too shallow..
That's right. And I can't expect anyone. Nothing would change significantly whoever becomes the prime minister. Maybe slightly changes something but it doesn't really matter. I might be wrong for thinking this way but...
5 years ago or so, some of the guys I knew said Koizumi was a tough guy. But I said the Japs didn't like him in the end, saying he was the worst PM in the postwar history. Anybody ends up like that, even though koizumi and hatoyama are totally different.
>>689 The least I could say is that things have been worse than they used to be after Democratic Party took over Japan. They call themselved Democratic, but what they did for the past 9 months made our lives worse. Come to think of it, Kan is also responsible for that since he was a member of the Hatoyama administaration, but he became Prime Minister. What was that? He sure can be a good performer and entertainer, but he isn't the appropriate kind of person who deserves to be manage a state. Sadlly, some Japanese people love to make out a performer to be a good politician (and get disappointed after he or she isn't far from it)..
Anyway, what we should do now is stop DPJ from doing anything as they like. In order to do so, we should vote against the party. I'll probably vete for LDP or Tachiagare Nihon or Nihonsousin, I'm still not decided on where to vote for, but one thing is for sure; I'll never ever support DPJ.
In my opinion, Japanese politics won't change whoever the prime minister is. Anyway, it's not prime minister but the U.S. that moves Japan. The U.S. wrote the senario to make the DPJ fall from the top political party.
The LDP's new plan looks like combining a consumption tax hike (from the current 5% to 10%) with a corporate tax cut. Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) has been asking for this for years, and the LDP seems ready for it now. It's the voters that are likely to get stuck in a loop, after all...
i dont know much about it but i have this opinion that "the systems" in japan is the problem, like the bureaucratic (kanryo) system. something is not right about it - not just politicians or citizens. i think i need to read karen van wolferen's books or something...
so all i can say about that is even if you have another PM, things will end up the same way. its not about what tax laws or child support laws that the government might implement.
I think Hatoyama PM've done a really nice job, judging by his patient. I can't believe a person who doesn't understand the language in the country take up a post of PM in the country.
>>705 I wouldn't trust in him if I were you. He also has what's called political money problem, and members of DPJ says that they don't like to change the schedule of the election because if Kan should have discussions with parties in no power, he'll make grave mistakes such as letting slip that he doesn't have any plan to solve problems like how to move the Okinawa base camp. That should be done by August as promised. All I want to tell you is that things didn't changed even a bit when Hatoyama was prime minister. Kan is a performer, not a practical person.
whatever happened to the Japanese gentleman who proposed to me? I won't be able to make miso soup for him after all. Oh well I will wait for Kame to give up on KyonKyon.
24 year old Japanese AV porn star Anri Suzuki is offering Chinese students in Japan to have sex with her as an act of apology for Japan's atrocities in China during WWII. Suzuki, who recently got her doctorate degree in history, did her thesis on Japan's invasion of China in WWII. Grief-stricken by what she has discovered, she is now offering her body willingly to Chinese students.
"We have to respect history and cannot obliterate it. I want to cure the wounds of Chinese with my body, and I am practicing this by having sex with Chinese students in Japan," she said. "I think it is psychological compensation to them. Actually, Chinese students treat me more friendly and comfortably than Japanese."
I've got in love with Lelian. The promise I made here was finally fulfilled. lol I had to ditch Alister before that... You can't be in love with two people at the same time? Was there a way to accomplish that? Still, the conversations Zevran and I have make me feel they brought us somewhere.. Can you cheat on Leliana without disturbing her? I'd never like to break up with her, but it'd be nice to get Zevran's approval points as high as possible because high approval points unlock "plot skills", strengthening your allies.
By the way, I heard that Leliana has a French accent. Is that true? If it's true, does that have something to do with the fact that Bioware is a Canadian developer? Also, I don't know why, but I have almost no trouble listening to her. I wonder if some people in Canada are like her. That is, those who speak both French and English sound a little clearer (to me) than others?
I had battles with werewolfs and it turned out that they used different words, for examble, "acquiesce". Yeah, I know I tried to remember the meaning of the word somewhere before, like in a vocabulary book, but couldn't recall what it was at that time. (I bothered to check online afterwards this time) I'm sure my English will improve if I refer to the dictionary every time I come across words whose meanings are vague to me, but honestly I can't bring myself to go that far. It'll take huge amount of time to do so. Hmm, at any rate, I want to understand the story better.
I read online that Dragon Age was going to be made into anime next year. Little is known about it, but I'm looking forward to it.
>>719 Because of your previous post, I went and bought Dragon Age. It wasn't disappointing (though I hear the expansion isn't really impressive). Leliana's accent is quite typical of a French speaker fluent in English. I'm not sure if it's the locale that led them to choose her, though, as the voice actress lives in the UK (though she is actually French). I suppose as a voice actress, it's her job to try and convey the accent while still being clear and delivering understandable speech to a mainly English-speaking audience. Anyway, Leliana is a refugee from the neighbouring country of Orlais, which is largely inspired by pre-Revolution France. Alistair is very whiny, Morrigan is very cynical, but the banter between party members and Zevran and Oghren is fantastic.
Mass Effect 1 and 2 were very good, and now they have 3 in development, along with Dragon Age 2. Might have made a mess of this post... very tired.
>>721 >Because of your previous post, I went and bought Dragon Age. Hahaha, that's good to hear. It seems you've already got ahead of me, though. I haven't met Oghren yet. About Leliana's accent, I didn't know about the voice actress, but it's interesting to know the background info. If I'm not mistaken, expansions and DLCs are being in product for 2 years till 2011, so Dragon Age 2 will be released after that.
By the way, I noticed a new function was added to some YT videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U43ey9obR94 Just click on CC and machine subtitles appear on the bottom of the screen. It's funny the machine can't seem to recognize sounds properly. The original subs on the upside of the screen don't correspond with the machine subs.
Oh, I got interested in Mass Effect after starting to play Dragon Age. It's FPS, right? I haven't played FPS so far. Guess I'm not good at it. Still it's nice to only see Mass Effect gameplay videos. Hopefully, if there's someone out there creating funnily narrated videos, I'll watch them. lol
A guy I know says a thing like this: "I like Japanese girls. I don't want to marry a Japanese girl but it's fun to stay with them." What does he mean? He doesn't really like Japanese?
A guy I know says a thing like this: "I like Japanese girls. I don't want to marry a Japanese girl but it's fun to stay with them." What does he mean? He doesn't really like Japanese?
>>724 There are lot's of hurdles for international marriages: language, culture, religion, register... You know, love is not an only factor for marriages.
>>728 My English teacher is married with a Japanese woman and they are also blessed with 2 kids. He said, however, that one of their kids somethimes seems to feel awkward about going to school where all of the students are black hair and black eyes except him. Having blond hair and blue eyes might make him feel like a lone in the cold in Japan and sheds light on his identity.
Let's get another data. In the U.S, black orphans who were adopted by white family could become more sensitive about their identity as they grow up than those who were raised by the same-colored parents.
I couldn't agree with you more with respect of that love is powerful. But getting friends is one thing, and getting a spouse is completely another because we need to consider all the aspects of constructing a family and make up our minds to fight against what the future brings. It would be hard for couples who grew up in the same country, never mind those in different ones.
We should not easily conclude that love will sort out all the preblems in the world, or we're going to nix someone's life and contribute to the higher rate of divorce.
But if you are the only person who isn't boring in this place, logic tells you that the place is boring. But, if the people here are boring and you are with them, you are probably boring too.
Again, you mustn't have much to do tonight if you're with such boring people. As for me, I love being bored. I want to meet other people as boring as me and talk about how boring we are.
What's the point of talking about such a thing? I do love "free time" with which I can do anything I like but I've never thought of being bored as a good thing.
Ha ha ha ha..I love stirring you boring people up every now and then. You are like tofu and seaweed in a miso soup. You turn and turn and turn then sink to the bottom of the bowl. I will tell you what.
Kamenashi Kazuya is not boring at all.
Why don't you follow him a little? Look, he is a vampire in his last music clip. I want you to appreciate little things in life and talk about it.
>>754 You sound like a rude person but that' not your fault and I don't blame you.
It's Slim Shady in you that made you write such a harsh comment. Slim shady is in all of us. Even a talented golfer like Tiger Woods flirted with lots of women when he was considred to be a perfect role model.
That's not Tiger's fault, I'd say. It's Slim Shady in him that whispered to him and encouraged him to flirt with many women. Slim Shady in him was responsible for turning his penis into a "Tiger."
I know you just woke up on the side of your bed. That's often the case when Slim Shady in you show greater presence in you. That leads you to acting like a rude person. So again, I don't blame you. After all, Slim Shady is in all of us.
I dismiss your theory of Slim Shady. He is so predictable. Today's news is tomorrow's kimchi. So drop that bossy attitude and write something worthwhile.
Or else I will go watch Coffee Prince Episode 7 kissing scenes.
I've watched a few minutes of a world cup match. Those babafela thingies make one of the most annoying sounds I have ever heard. I really hope the rest of the world doesn't start using them whenever there's a soccer match.
>>759 Slim Shady is a metaphor of dark side of each and every people. Even renowned philanthropists have a dark vicious sides, which is in essence called Slim Shady in them. As far as I remember, you said you don't like Koean dramas because actors acting style is too direct and plots lack in subtle expressions compared to Japanese ones.
If you think you want more kisses, here it is from me (・3・)smoochhhhhh I have bad breath by the way.
>>764 You may or may not know this but Lotte is originally a Korean company although some Japanese people don't even know that. Many 2channelers don't like Korea so Lotte breath freshners aren't the best option for them.
I don't think I descriminate Korean but still, I prefer Japanese breath freshners than those made by Lotte. Maybe I'm getting influenced by the idea of 2channelers. Amazed by the fact that you know Lotte, anyway. Hope Kame doesn't have bad breath. Who knows?
Today is Japan's World Cup opener. I don't think they could withstand a continued barrage by Cameroon so long but I hope at least they will give it all.
I'm 773 and I am Japanese but I can't imagine Japan's national team will win any game against these teams. If Japan win Cameroon, Japan will gain a momentum and can beat or tie with Denmark but in reality, Japan's national team even can't beat Cameroon. It's sad but that's reality.
Even if Japan gains momentum, there's no chance of beating Holland. The chance of beating Hokllnd is as slim as the chance of me sucking a woman's nipples.
>>773 I'm not sure if Japan can't score, but over all from an objective viewpoint, I agree with you. Sadly but there's almost no ground I can imagine Japan will win those 3 opponents; their FIFA rankings are above that of Japan and the national team didn't win a single game in the last 5 games, so it'd be really surprising if we won. Mr Okada isn't a good supervisor. He doesn't seem to be tactical. I wish they showed us their spirits, at least.
>>778 Yes, we were. In retrospect, we lost all the 3 games in the first round, and I remember Japan lost to Australia, 1 point vs. 3 points, and the 3 points were lost during the last 10 miniutes or so. I thought that might have happened again this time. Luckily, the goalkeeper overdid himself. So it was surprising we won. Having said that, I'm not sure we will go to the second round, however. Even if Japan happened to win against Cameroon, the fact remains that Denmark and Holland are both really competitive opponents and that we need really good luck in order to even draw. Anyway, I hope the national team should forget about today's game and put their minds into preparing for the next game vs. Holland. If we can draw...
It looked like in today's game, Japan had a motive to win (..driven by strong motivation ) - but Cameroons was not, If you meet the hardship it'll make you stronger..?
>>784-785 Thank you guys. It's a shame I didn't know that. I'm not the kind of person who enjoys having a sip of wine. I try it sometimes but to be totally truthful, I've never given any thought to where wine was produced. All I know is that France and Napa valley are famous for wine. I can't taste the difference. haha
>>789 I've never seen the adjective turgid so I just looked it up online, and the online dictionary I referred to says the word means swollen. but I don't know what a swollen affair means, probably some kind of unexpected huge things? Anyway, there must be something sarcastic about the sentence. It was meant to carry the meaning of "everyone didn't expect Japan to win, and it must have been a fluke or something." That's right. I still don't expect Japan to win against Holland. In my humble opinion there must be a wide gap between the two countries about their skills.
>>790 Nothing shameful about it - I guess some people enjoy wine, some don't. To me, most things with a significant alcohol content leaves a chemical taste in my mouth which is really unpleasant, so I just keep away from most things. Apparently New Zealand and Chile have some very good wines too.
>>789-790 Must admit I'm stuck on this one too. Have seen the expression printed in newspapers, but never really gave it much thought. Can't really find an alternate meaning to the word, either, other than 'swollen'. Perhaps it means some kind of hype, or an exaggerated event, which is pretty much what >>790 says. In any case, I doubt England has a chance of winning. Green, England's goalkeeper, has received much negative press from newspapers and fanatics alike, over his mistake in the England v USA game where it rolled in the net from his hands. The manager's either going to give in and replace him, or try to downplay the incident.
>>791 Thanks again. That reminds me that there's this Japanese saying - I don't know exactly how it's translated into English, but the idea is, To ask about what you don't know is a momentary shame, while not to know about it is a life-long shame. Does that make sense?
Ah, I see. So I guessed right. lol But I must admit that everyone was being really pessimistic. So I can't complain about the article. It may be tough to be sure of winning, but everyone knows that England is one of the teams that are well-trained and prepared to win the world cup. At least, there's a good chance of English going to semi final, isn't there?
>>792 Better to ask than to never know, I guess. I'll try and remember that one, thanks.
Semi-final if they're lucky and play better. Though... it's Slovenia and Algeria left in the group, so might not be that big a challenge. There can always be surprises though. I'm interested to see how North Korea play later today... in 1966, when the World Cup was held in England, they were almost denied entry visas.
In my dictionary(it seems ..) "turgid" just means not only "swollen", but- .. exaggeration, hyperbole, bigmouth..or grandiose.. -Maybe nyt a bit implied their anti-japan sentiment..
>>796 I'm not >>792 but the saying he/she meant to say is:
聞くは一時の恥、聞かぬは一生の恥
this is a proverb so the style is a little different from that of contemporary Japanese. You can add こと after 聞くand 聞かぬ for you to understan easier. Plus, ぬ as in 聞かぬ is old grammar style used to mean "neative" form. So 聞かぬ=聞かない(not to ask)
>>793 I know next to nothing about those 2 teams. Sounds like they are really competitive, hmm. Ah, North Korea... I didn't watch, but they got 1 point from Brazil, that was good probably. Speaking of NK, the news says that the country broadcast the game without authorization? Usually, TV stations pay huge money to get a permission to do so. I'm not sure FIFA will take any action, though.
>>798 Thank you for the cooperation. That's exactly what I tried to translate.
>>799 My shameful moment again. lol I haven't heard of that expression. Care to put the idea into English? If there's a similar expression in English, probably you'll get across to English speakers, like "ah, we say the same thing in English like this..."
By the way, it's muggy today, isn't it? The hydrometer in my room indicates it's nearly 65 percent humidity in my place now. I don't like it.
>>802 There was a rumour that North Korea were pirating the signals from the South, but instead, the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union had worked out a deal with North Korea (along with six other developing countries) to allow them to broadcast the games.
It's one of our warmer days today, at 20ºC. It seems to only be warm on alternating weeks, for some reason, as last week was quite cold and wet, but the week before was warm. Humidity is 54%, which isn't so bad.
>>803 Oh, does that mean NK has been officially and legitimately broadcasting the world cup games? I didn't expect that. Like you said, I thought they have been pirating the signals from the South. As far as I know, the funny-faced dictator LOVES soccer very much, so he'd have done anything if the deal had fallen apart. lol
The same thing happened here in Japan, I mean weather. It dramatically changed on a daily basis this spring. Snowy days and warmy days. I couldn't believe it snowed in April.
>>809 As far as I know, it's completely legitimate. Had no idea Jong-Il was a football fanatic, though... but I suppose it makes sense, as this is one of the extremely few events we see North Koreans participating in overseas. Wonder if the players ever think of defecting.
We had our coldest winter in the past 30 years, but it only went on until March, I think. Our coldest days were around -30ºC, and the constant freeze-thaw cycle really messed up and damaged the roads. In the last national budget, the chancellor put £100m (\13.5b) aside solely for pothole repairs. And some of the roads were covered in sheet ice, as councils had run out of road salt. Some people literally crawled across roads on their hands and knees. But now it's about the perfect temperature.
>>811 I see. The reason I thought NK was bugging the signal was because I read that South Korea said it wouldn't allow NK to broadcast the games as punishment for attacking their army ship in March. Hmm, I'm not sure about defecting, but to my knowledge, it's said that those North Korean representatives who didn't live up to Kim John Ill's expectation were brought to a cave, where they were forced to work, excavating something. I don't know how true it was.
-30ºC!? That was horribly freezing. Thought the global warming had started affecting our lives, but there's someting wrong..

>RIO DE JANEIRO ― New TV ads are encouraging Brazilians to save water ― by urinating in the shower. >Brazilian environmental group SOS Mata Atlantica says the campaign, running on several television stations, uses humor to persuade people to reduce flushes. >The group says if a household avoids one flush a day, it can save up to 1,157 gallons of water annually. >SOS spokeswoman Adriana Kfouri said Tuesday that the ad is "a way to be playful about a serious subject." >The spot features cartoon drawings of people from all walks of life ― a trapeze artist, a basketball player, even an alien ― urinating in the shower.
>Narrated by children's voices, the ad ends with: "Pee in the shower! Save the Atlantic rainforest!"
Pee in the shower! That's environmentally friendly, I think.
>>841 As far as I know, ISP stands for Internet Survice provider and it is a company that provides you with Internet connection service. So, without ISP, there's no way you can access the Internet.
What do you mean by your time runnning out and leaving tomorrow? You mean your access will be denied by 2ch? If so, there's nothing you can do about it as far as I know. Even if you can't access to 2ch, you can access to any other websites as long as you have a contract with your ISP.

The girlfriend of the Spanish goal keeper, named Sara, is reportedly criticized because Spain lost to Swiss. Hmm, people can't help but try to find reasons why they lost...
>>849 Yeah, I guess you are right. But it's understandable at the same time. You know, Spain is ranked in the second place now, FIFA ranking - so people expected their national team to win against Swiss, which is in around the 20th place.
Soccer does not go as ranking. It is also a good point and is also a severe point. Especially for people of Europe, it seems to be more special than the person of other countries
Tomorrow is the day has a match of Japan vs Holland in the World Cup. But, as I said in >>566, I don't have an expectation to Japanese soccer team at all. So, I won't watch it on TV. And I wonder why are all Japanese soccer freaks excited by Keisuke Honda's play in the last match of Japan vs Cameroon, all though it was a first match. I think they all must be only excited when Japanese soccer team get a victory in this World Cup. Well, in this time too, they can't do that..., I think.
England are playing tonight in a match against Algeria. The expectation is that England's goalkeeper will be replaced due to his performance in the first match. It's kind of sad how much the public's view on someone can go down with a mistake that lasted only a few seconds. And the match didn't even end in a loss. But football's not really my thing, so I guess fanatics view things differently.
>>854 It's easy for people to become hyped up during world sporting events, I think. Almost everyone wishes to see their country do well. As well as that, if a player stands out in the first game, then people will take more notice of them and build up expectations on them.
>>854 >>856 If it wins, it will interest further. I also thought that I would carry out through Japan's game now an honest place. Probably the viewership of television must also be high with that victory. If it wins and will lose, various situations will change. >>853 For the moment, Germany has also lost !
Did you see Germany vs Serbia? That referee was a bloody nutjob! He churned out 8 cards in a single game, even though neither team played all that unfairly.
>>856 England national team in this WC event has been said to be a great team. In every World cup, England is expected to move on to best 8 or further bur especially in this world cup, the expectations are higher.
Some say current England natinal team deserves winning World Cup for the first time in 40? or so years. It was bad Becham got injured before WC but thanks to Rooney and other players, England national team still gets high reputation. The only problem is a goalkeeper. I've read somewhere in Japanese media that one and only Achilles heel of England is Goalie.
The media's report is before WC started so when I heard the news that the goalie made a big mistake in the game against U.S, I was like, "Oh, the report was very accurate." Goalie is the last fort in the game of football and plays a very important role.
I guess England's football fans know the goalies is the only week point in England' national team so I think that's why they make a big fuss about England's goalie, who should be a goalie among three candidates. They know they have a bigger chance to win the WC this year.
Many media here reports Spain has the biggest chance to win WC, but England can win it among other candidates such as Argentina, Brazil...
>>856 This may sound rediculous so don't take it seriously. The goal keeper's mistake was caused by Slim Shady in him. Slim Shady in him whispered to him that "If you make a mistake here, you can get lots of attentions from football fans and your name will be on the first page of newspaper..."
>>859 I had no idea that expectations in other countries were that high. The current favourites to win are Germany, I think, though that may have slipped now that Serbia beat them. Spain have lost their first game, and Argentina have won both, so it'll be interesting to see if losing make Spain more determined, or if it's ruined their morale.
Apparently the goalkeeper hadn't been very good even in football training these past few days, so it looks as if Capello will exchange Green for James, a more experienced goalkeeper.
It'll be interesting to see how Japan do against Netherlands tomorrow, as both teams have a win apiece.
>>860 He certainly made the front page of most newspapers here the following day. He may have been a bit depressed, too, knowing that he would never be as cool as Cool Tak.
There is Japan's game today. I am exciting. I am going to look at the game of baseball in the morning and the daytime. I can enjoy myself by a sports program all day long today. Of course, the main is watching the program of soccer.
>>848 It is said that she was just used as a decoy to distract the public attention away from this couple, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Pique. They said they were just talking and denied the rumor, but it's quite obvious. You know, they shouldn't have to hide and feel ashamed about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR_M1dZl2Eo
>>861 haha! I laughed when I read the Cool Tak part at the end of your post. Nice joke! You're almost as cool as Cool Tak! (I said ALMOST because as you know, no one can be as cool as, more cool than for that matter, Cool Tak)
>>862 Maybe it's just me but I don't understand why you have to leave. You're expecting access denial from 2ch? Your main playground is 4chan if I'm not mistaken so there's no big deal about access denial to 2ch, I suppose... Or your access to 4chan has been denied and that's the reason you showed up here for the first time in a year or so...
I'm high school student, and I'm not have enough money. I wanna buy PC parts to do PC games, games are quite fun and make me so happy. should I do part-time job? No, I not wanna going to work. Please give me lot of money!!
>>868 Why on earth do I have to gie you my precious money? Earn your money on your own. Sell your young body to middle-aged homosexual men. You can earn 10000yen or more for an anal sex.
>>867 I think it is not bad that his falt is in the appearance portion. I am anxious about his doing CM of English conversation called super listening. It is because suspiciousness is felt for the CD sale. This is important. To be sure, he may be able to catch English, however is it because he had heard the CD only ? I think it is no. I regard as overseas experience that he can be catching English. He had better not do such a CM.The point is disappointing. I think so.
>>876 In that case, they're probably more impressed with Japan's performance than with England's. Yesterday, England's own fans booed them as they were leaving the pitch after drawing 0:0 with Algeria. Now the media are making a fuss over Rooney's sarcastic remark, "Nice to see your home fans boo you. That's what loyal support is".
Japan lost yesterday. But I do not feel inclined to boo. Probably mass media will not depreciate a Japanese player, either. Doesn't mass media praise good fight rather? And mass media will move subject to the following Denmark game. What is the difference from England ? Is it because there is recognition that Japan is weak, after all?
>>879 I really have no idea why people had such a negative reaction. After looking through a couple message boards, it seems that people feel that the players they support owe them an exciting game, or a good match. People feel let down, that the apparent sacrifices they made to be able to travel to South Africa and watch the game were wasted. The media had made Rooney look like the bad guy, so he has apologised for his comment now.
I think it was selfish of the spectators to do so, as what motivation do the players have to play well, now that their fans appear to be against them? If England has no fighting spirit next game, the fans only have themselves to blame.
Was sat in a bar earlier, having lunch, and the screen was on (you can't get away from the football these days), so caught the first half of the Japan vs. Holland match. Japan definitely put up a good fight.
All I can say for sure is for you not to dwell on the things past. Japan lost. Yes, Japan lost. Again, Japan lost. Japan lost. But you guys should look forward and consider what should be done next time. You should have learned a lesson from losing the game. Japan lost. But Japan lost. Hope you can consider what you should do now. Japan lost, but Japan lost. And you dwell on it? Then there's no improving. You'll lose again.
Compared with the fact that Japan lost, England hasn't lost even a game. Japan lost while England never lost. This means Japan will lose again while England will win. Japan lost.
Compared with the fact that Japan lost, America hasn't lost even a game. Japan lost while America never lost. You can imagine Japan will lose again, while it's impossible America will lose, based on the fact that America did score and brought the game to a draw. Japan should know the national team is below the par level. Japan is fairly weak. All the teams except for Japan are really strong. Japan actually lost. That explains very well how weak Japan is.
Denmark is a better team than Japan. See the rank. Denmark 36 Japan 45 This tells you clearly there's no possibility Japan will win. All Japan should do is try to keep up. Drawing the game will take you to second round.
In my impression, the Dutches felt unexpected pressure from Japan.. while.. at first they were belittling them .. Maybe because members of Japan team were spiritually quite unified?.. ...that might be unusual for Dutches, and they couldn't perform so well but barely scored one point from japan?.. (Maybe the same thing contributed to defeat Cameroon IMHO)
>> 889 I don't think such ranking is meaningful- It was clear if you observed yesterday's game with Dutch. The performance has all betrayed conventional "ranking" at all..
I'm not sure what your nationality is concered with in this conversation? Japan lost. That's the reality. You should learn a lesson from it. But you seem to keep letting yourself indulge in a sweet dream. Wake up! Japan is so weak it can't hold a candle against Denmark when it comes to Soccer. Hope you understand.
..Japan came into the match off the back of their first World Cup win on foreign soil after beating Cameroon 1-0 on Monday.
And the afterglow of that historic achievement was evident in the admirable tactical nous they executed in the first half as they stifled the Netherlands' search for fluid creativity with regimental efficiency in front of a near-full Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The Dutch, who are now unbeaten in 21 matches, started like a team full of quiet confidence as they kept possession well and used the width of Dirk Kuyt on the right and Rafael van der Vaart on the left.
Inter Milan midfielder Sneijder had the first clear chance but, on this occasion, could not keep his long-range shot, from a free-kick, down - a common sight in South Africa as players struggle to tame the much-criticised Jabulani ball.
When they did break up the Netherlands' passing, Grenoble midfielder Daisuke Matsui looked bright for Japan - instigating an incisive move that eventually resulted in Yuto Nagatomo hitting a stinging shot just wide.
The Asian side slowly began to frustrate the Dutch, who struggled to bring striker Robin van Persie into the game and lacked a killer pass.
And by the end of the first half Japan had relative control, with towering Brazilian-born defender Tulio heading just wide before Matsui lashed a decent volley straight at goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg..
>>899 That's impossible. According to the TV media all around the world, Japan's games were boring. Compared to that, Korea is considered really good. They were exciting, and people expect Korea to step up to the second stage.
But the Netherlands - who have never won the World Cup, despite a rich pedigree of world-class footballers - took the second half by the scruff of the neck, with Van Persie breaking free on a couple of occasions.
After a period of concerted pressure as the ball ricocheted around the box in the 52nd minute, the Arsenal striker managed to nudge it into the path of Sneijder.
Loitering just outside the penalty area, the Inter Milan star lashed a powerful right-foot shot towards goal that keeper Eiji Kawashima could only deflect into the net when he was well placed to make an effective save.
That moment liberated both teams and no longer could containment tactics be the limit of Japan's ambitions.
They responded in kind, Van Persie finding himself hooking a dangerous cross from substitute Shunsuke Nakamura over his own crossbar from within the six-yard box.
Hamburg's Eljero Elia came on as a substitute for Van der Vaart and nearly recreated the impression he had from the bench in the Netherlands' first match, cleverly releasing Ibrahim Allelay for a one on one, although his fellow substitute could not add a second with seven minutes remaining as Kawashima smothered his attempt.
Japan had the best chance to level the score one minute from time but unmarked substitute Shinji Okazaki fired over from 10 yards...
Seconds later, referee Hector Baldassi waved away penalty claims as Yuto Nagatomo went down under a challenge from Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong and the Dutch clung on to achieve maximum points from their opening two fixtures.
Whilst Holland beat Denmark in their opening game, Japan triumphed, albeit narrowly, over Cameroon and the Dutch boss added: “They have progressed a lot. They have been together for a long time and have played lots of matches.
"They have been looking for some time to find a style of play which they didn't have in qualifying. But they appear to have found that style. I have a lot of respect for the Japan coach and his team and we will not be under-estimating them." http://www.givemefootball.com/world-cup/holland-v-japan-big-match-preview
Korean guys are really popular among girls all over the world. Girls in the world say Korean guys look really cool and attractive. They get interested in Korean guys thanks to Korean Wave.
>>883 The 'ABE' movement is more prominent in Scotland and Wales - its supporters support 'Anyone But England', which has led to some allegations of racism due to the promotion of the brand.
It's a shame about HMV, though I guess since it's a British chain, they don't feel the need to try and revive it, as a nationally-founded chain might. Anyway, I believe HMV Japan is operated in name only, and is owned by a different group - DSM. Over here, HMV Group runs both the UK's largest music/video chain, as well as the largest bookstore chain (Waterstones).
According to the Taiwanese news, Kan Naoto cheated on his wife with a Korean hostess and have a 2 year-old infant live in Korea now. If this is true, what's this ugly Prime Minister? He should make a comment on this.
>>922 Just trash it!.. put it aside..the woman scandal of him. You shouldn't even talk about is wife who's his female cousin, Because He's been politically, SIDELINED and SIDELINED and SIDELINED .. number of times for many years due to the myriad of issues mainly by his gealous opponents..until today,
He lost his prime time that's why,..to become a head of state..In my op.
I thought Kan has been sidelined by Hatoyama himself in mid '90s.. It was dark memory. (-That's why he looked so embarrassed and depressed just one night before he got elected the Democratic party leader and PM..)
>>927 That's nothing to do with this suspicion of him getting trapped in honey trap. He wouldn't do politics for Japan. Instead he'd do anything to protect his name that's not for the rest of us. DPJ can't be trusted.
Plus I'm not sure whether to trust this source, but I remember Kan is also suspected of bribery. He has pursed his lips concerning this grave issue. Clean Politics? Don't make me laugh. Kan is no different than Hatoyama the loopy king of tax evasion.
North Korea lost and it was comfortable. Portugal was great. Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to be a misfire. The complete defeat of North Korea resembled the complete defeat of Hanshin the other day. I also want Japan not to be defeated in Denmark. I wish the team of Japan does not become the contents of a game which are said in the tragedy of South Africa.
Apparently some of the North Korean 'supporters' were hand picked by the government in order to travel to the games and support their country. The rest of the supporters are actually just Chinese, having bought tickets through a seller given authorisation by North Korea in order to make it look like they were giving people the freedom to travel.
Today is also sultry. I am restless during a soccer period. Subject cannot become soccer relation naturally, either.
By the way, the Japan Sumo Association is depressed. Is it necessary to support it in a country? It was provoking that there was a master who gets angry at the question from a journalist.
Comment which played the golf game Although the role of Tiger Woods is played and being played , since I was the first, I did not work. Ability was only Mr. Ishikawa.
Nadal starts his Wimbledon campaign against the Japanese Kei Nishikori on Centre Court and he is looking fit and hearty to make it an easy contest for him.
Korean guys are amazingly popular among girls all over the world. Those fangirls of Korean guys are really happy about the fact that Korea's national soccer team made their way to second round. They say Korea deserves to win the world cup because they are hot, smart, attractive. Yeah, they are quite right. Korean guys are surely so. Korean guys popularity will increase day by day thanks to them. I'm sure of it.
>>952 Nishikori can beat Nadal if he's in a good condition. His potential as a tennis player is admired even by top tennis players such as Nadal and フェデラー. Some of them even say Nishikori will win on of the 4 major titles (Wimbledon, French Open, Australian Open, US Open) in the foreseeable future.
>>954 One of my favorite things to do when I watch Wimbledon matches is to watch ball girls' boobs and bare thighs. But don't blame me for that. It's Slim Shady in me that makes my attentions drawn to the girls' thighs and boobs. And you can somtimes see some female players' nipples perked up. That's another thing I enjoy to see.
A motion of Nikkei Average is somehow strange. Price movement is intense. We have to take care in the market price at such times. When working one time, it is best to escape on the dot. But it is although what cannot be earned easily is a market price. As for the violence of this price movement, has the original upvaluation influenced ?
I'm going to see England vs. Slovenia. It's broadcast P.M 11 in Japan time. Don't miss it! You might want to check Group C. Nobody knows what'll happen; Any team has chance to secound round.

>>971 Happened to be walking through my town while the match was on. I've never seen the streets so deserted, and there were police everywhere. In fact, the only people people outside were police and old women, but the old women were outnumbered.
Hello I'm Japanese, and why are people here so good at English? Does, anyone of you are English native speakers? Or, all of you are the Japanese people who are learning English? If so, why your English is so good? I want to know because my English is not good, but I want to improve. Please tell me how to learn English because I want to improve my English. And if you are a native English speaker, why are you here and how did you find 2ch? If you are a native English speaker, please tell me how to improve my English. Because people laugh at my English because my English is not good. Thank you.
>>975 Given you read Japanese without any problem at all, I'm sure you know there's at least one person with a name.
Pardon me, but I'm not interested in this kind of topic, like, how have you taught yourself English? I want to improve! Tell me how! Sorry about that. Ask people in other threads. They'd be more than happy to give you a tip. Good luck, anyway.
>>975 It is modesty again. Your description is also wonderful. It is in use to tell the thing which people wants to say in plain language now. The kind of book also sells well. Your English is wonderful. Please write in dingdong.
I am in the US, and the game tomorrow starts at 2:30 ET. Thank goodness, I don't have to stay up late!!! When the game is on, I will be alone in my apartment, chatting with people at one of Jikkyo threads on 2ch, because none of my friends cares about the fate of Japanese team.
I hear that Uniqlo will prohibit in-house Japanese. From now on, the necessity for English is likely to be emphasized increasingly. Since we are communicating fortunately here, don't you become pain?
>>982 He was smiling bitterly with the subject of soccer, wasn't he. He was doing makeup of the Predator. It seemed to be hot. But it was easy to come out vigorously.
The good thing to air a game to enjoy win-and-in scenario in the wee hours is that should they win the game, there will be less guys going out to make a knee-jerk fuss on the street. I bet their frantic pleasure is not likely to last until the next day.
