Hey!!! you NEETs, nerds, YouTube-link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis,
Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers,
Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters,
Big-boobs fans, Weeaboos from all over the world, learners of Japanese
who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, and cunning
linguists. And Let's pray for the rehabilitation of the Internet-addicted
housewife.

Here is the place to have a ball!!!!!

I'm neither >>44 nor >>47.

Do you know Omikuji? When you go to a shrine, there's Omikuji.
There are lots of folded pieces of paper in a box. (not always in a
box though) You put your hand in the box to pick up one folded
piece of paper. You unfold the paper and read what's written
on it. It's like fortune telling or something. You can see
discription about your foreseeing future in detail such as your
luck in meeting prospective boyfriend or gf, your chance of good
academic achievement or job prospect, your health, your chance of
getting rich and what not. Maybe you're more familiar with fortune
cookies or something.

The best is 大吉 (daikichi) which can be translated to big luck.
The second best is 中吉(chuukichi) which can be translated to middle size luck,
followed by 小吉(shoukichi), small luck. As you may notice, 吉 means
good luck and rhymes with ぴょん吉, the anime character as >>47 explained.
Seems like in some boards in 2ch if you write in your name field
something, (maybe "!omikuji" or something), 2ch's system functions like a
Omikuji box and it tells how lucky you are on a particular day, displaying
大吉, or 小吉 or whatever in your name field. It kind of gives posters
in 2ch's particular board an amusment. You never see ぴょん吉 in any shrine's
omikuji box, obviously. It's just the name of an anime character.
It's just a 2ch's joke.
54名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/09/02(火) 04:37:00
The opposite word of 吉 is 凶 (kyou) meaning bad luck and 大凶 (daikyou)
is the worst obviously, meaning the worst luck or something. But don't worry.
If you pick up a folded 大凶 piece from a box, it's said that if you
tie the piece of paper to any tree in the premises of a shrine, the
worst luck never affect you. You can see lots of tied peper to trees
in shrine.

That's it about Japanese cuture lesson. Here are links to anime ぴょん吉
appears. In the second video, you can see clearly ぴょん吉 trying to
jumping forward even though he is on T-shirt. Enjoy.

Not sure if any of you remember me, but I used to post here a
while back. They blocked my ISP and most of the proxies I had
readied no longer work, and I didn't have the time or the drive
to go and grab working ones.

Anyhow, they've lifted the ban on my ISP now, so I plan to visit
here a bit again. Unfortunately, the administrators here catch
someone on a foreign ISP causing trouble and they ban the entire
service. Not exactly the most ethical way to go about it, but
definitely effective, I suppose.

Anyhow, if any of you are still around... that trip to Japan I was
thinking about taking? I did -- was in Tokyo for the entirety of
June.

Anyhow I'll cut it short for now and help out with questions in some
other threads if I can. Wondering if any of the old regulars are
still here.

Rofl (and bleeding), yeah, sure is.

Anyhow, I had a great time, plain and simple. I was there for a month,
and not a single person was anything less than friendly to me. I didn't
expect to be treated poorly, but I never anticipated being treated so
well!

Either way, I might even go again next year. Had a lot of fun.

I was within walking distance of where the stabbings happened in
Akihabara when they were happening, though. That guy was a crazy
little bastard, judging from what the news was saying.

answering questions asked by high schoolers on the board...Just then
someone saw Prime Minister Fukuda making his resignation speech on TV,
and asked how this situation can be translated in Japanese...

My knowledge of English is limited but I tried making a sentence like
"Prime Minister Fukuda is now making a resignation speech on TV,"

How do you explain this situation?
Thanks in advance.

How's the software that makes it possible to watch TV around the word

an error message of Windows, sayin that this software doesn't work.

It lasted at least a few minutes until it freezed before and now
it freezes right after I boot the software. Maybe I need to delete
and install again to make things better. sigh.

On a different note, "pond" someitmes means Atlantic ocean, right?

Hello there, Nanashi-san.

That software's becoming more and more unstable. Sometimes I have to
reboot just to make it work, else it closes down a moment after opening.
Apparently the previous version was much more stable, so hopefully the
next build will be more usable. Tried deleting and reinstalling, but that
didn't help at all.

And yes, sometimes we (and North Americans too) say "across the pond" to
mean countries opposite to us over the Atlantic. We don't really use it
that often for South American countries, though it is true.

I need to find my O/S disc now, to install more language packs after the

Yes, people understood my Japanese. It was a good feeling, knowing I was
at least somewhat capable.

As for the scent you're questioning, I didn't notice anything. From what
I could tell, they didn't smell any different than the people here. I
probably would've noticed if they did, as well, considering I got stuck
in a train packed with them at Harajuku station on the Yamanote line. I
was trying to get off the train, but never had the opportunity to! There
was a huge crowd waiting to get on. My guess was since it was getting
late and the train was heading toward residential districts like
Ikebukuro (please correct me if I'm wrong in considering that a primarily
residential district), it was just people trying to get home.

As for the incident in Akihabara, "within walking distance" simply
means that I could've easily walked to the location it was occurring in
a reasonable amount of time. I wasn't watching it happen with my own eyes,
so I didn't see any police cars arrive. Though, I did visit the sites after.
I followed the example of those around me, and put down a bottle of tea
on the cloth laid out near Akihabara station. I saw another cloth or two in
other locations, as well.

I think her daughter's act was to blame in the U.S.
Media tried to stir up this problem. That's the evidence
that bearing a child in teenage is ethically wrong in the U.S too.
But abortion is more worse in the U.S. And Palin's other
conservative achievements offset bad aspects.
If her daugheter married with black or had a abortion,
white conservatives would be disillusioned.

She is capable enough to cradle Komuro. He seems
quite content these days as I saw him on TV recently.
We never know, but just seeing Kahara who had been giving media
horribly news about drugs, etc and after she was banned by
entertainment world, she's a cripple now. I remember
on TV interview, Komuro was commented like this."I want to
cut out my certain period from my life".
Apparently the period that he wants to cut out is
the time when he stayed with Kahara.
228名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/09/06(土) 12:36:01
Kahara is the symbol of Komuro's bad luck. After media
informed all those gossips about Kahara, people started to get
away from Komuro. Especially girls would never be fans of him
after knowing what he has done to Kahara.
He tried to sell her album by handling media with
the image of Cinderella girl who was just an ordinary
to be a princess, being his private girl friend as well.
But then as he started to discovere more about her,
he thought she's not that talented or gorgeous girl as he thought, or
simply he got tired of her. Anyway, Komuro is a bad guy.

I heard there is that black enka singer.

Hahaha. His name is jero. He is 1/4 japanese.
He has good voice. But not a good enka singer I guess.
Black enka singer can easily draw attentions. After all
novelty sells.
If a japanese enka singer had the same voice as jero and
wore like jero, his record would sell miserably.
In that sense jero is pampered, I guess.
Enka business is very severe. Good voice is enka singer's startpoint.
They have to have edge over other enka singers somehow.
Being black seems to be some edge. But his voice is unworthy of

I always stay at home so Internet surfing is kind of my hobby.
Reading paperbacks and English blogs and websites are my hobby, too.
One paperpack is around 1000 yen and it took a month or more to read it through.
Just paying 1000 yen I can enjoy it for a month. Cost saving way of killing time.

The same goes with the Net surfing. Resourses are unlimited. Only fixed
fee a month to my ISP makes it posssible to read as much English as I
want. But I need interactions with people in real life instead of shutting myself
in my house. I'm getting less interested in reading English.
It's kind of like burden to read English every day. My mother tounge
Japanese is far easy to understand.

So, what do you have to do that doesn't cost you much.

I enjoy reading paperbacks too. Yeah, you are right. It costs me about
1000 yen and it takes me a few weeks (sometimes more than a month!)
to finish it. It really is a good way to spend my free time.

I also get tired from reading books in another language and wonder
why I am doing this because I know it's so much easier to do it
in my own language...then, I seem to come to the same conclusion
that it's fun because it's more challenging...
Well, I seem to go into circles....
314名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/09/07(日) 22:55:30
I like reading and net surfing as well.
I have many hobbies but the condition is
that I wouldn't have to pay any money. The key is how
much we can give ourselves up to it. For example, I like
jogging and walking. but what time go is important. If summer,
I go very early in the morning or
late at night. And depends on what course I jog, I choose
different music. If it's very late and dark, I choose
R&B. It matches the view. Also I don't eat 3 times a day,
I like to enjoy being in hunger. And what I eat is very small portion
and something contains the necessary nutrition. Every small thing, you can enjoy
everyday. Everything is how you do. Even brushing your teeth, you can do by your
own way.

Anyhow, it's nothing to brag about, so I don't know where that comes in.
It's not something I just claim randomly - in fact, it doesn't even come
up in conversation unless the conversation is steered that way. On my
mother's side of the family, there is a full-blooded Cherokee. The reason
it's not uncommon isn't because people find it cool, but because the
Cherokee nation was made up of many tribes, in many places in North America.
Simply put, it was extremely large. It only makes sense that they would
mix with the population in a large way.

Look at and research the history of places like Puerto Rico. It's the
same concept. Two different races inhabit the same land, they intermingle,
and procreate with one another.

I think your inferiority complex deters you from being racially
aware. You are afraid of being kicked out from white brothers.
So you attack white brothers before you are discriminated against.

Commander schoep said that they will never come back as white
once they mix with non-whites. It's somewhat true. But
Don't worry. You are whiter than any other south europeans.
You can pass as aryan race in europe with no suspicion.
I think you finally come back as whites.
You have the credential to be white.
If you live sincerely for the cause of white race, I think white brothers welcome you
with open arm. White with non-white blood is required to be more racist
as Third Reich showed. You are monitored by SS. I hope you will
meet the goal they lay down on you.

In a way even diplomat's son cannot be SS with features
associated with Asian and tezuka made him very aryan?

Tezuka apparently criticized nazi-germany and Hitlerin the context of comic. But he equally
deplored middle eastern problem at the end of the story. Tezuka didn't show the
solution. He just showed how stupid mankind are.
Ending was very ironic.

I think jews won't accept the ending. The jews only accept one way
story. The jews are victims and always right.

Anyhow, digressing from this track of conversation, I have a question
relating to the Japanese language. I've been learning on my own for a good
while, though I haven't had much time to devote to it in the past year.
However, there's one thing I constantly mix up. Usage of は and が as
particles. I see that there is a difference between the two and when
they're used, but I often have a difficult time figuring out when to
use which. In textbooks they often list は as the "topic marker" and
が as the "subject marker", but that does little to explain it.

If anyone here can give a thorough explanation and some examples, as well
as explain why it's wrong to use one where the other should be used, I would
appreciate it. I've always been understood when I use them, but I still
can't shake the feeling that I'm probably doing it wrong.

Usage of は and が as

--------------------
It's pretty difficult for native japanese speakers too.
We can use them respectively but we use them sensuously.

Suppose my name is yamada takashi.
When someone asked a crowd of people who is yamada takashi, I would say
私がyamada takashi です。
When someone asked my name, I would say 私はyamada takashi です.
We can use respectively. But It's hard to explain.
Probably は just explains that S equals C. And が explains
that C is "that" C besides S equals C.

私がやりました is close to "It's me who did it"
私はやりました just shows "I did it".

I know my explanation is not enough.

I guess English "I did it" includes the same nuances as 私はやりました and 私が
やりました. That might be confusing too.

When I did a bad thing in the classroom, a teacher repremanded
students and said "who did it".
At that moment I would say 私 が やりました。
I was supposed to do a routine work and actually did it.
But a supervisor was skeptical. He said "did you do the job?"
I would say 私 は やりました.
In both cases English "I did it" may work?
------------------------------
as the "topic marker" and
が as the "subject marker", but that does little to explain it.
--------------------------------
As is similar to this explanation, 私 が やりました focus on subject 私 and
私 はやりました focus on verb やりました.

I'm all for preserving culture as much as possible, but when it means the
ruin of a nation and the suffering of its residents, is it really worth
it? Besides, importing a lot of foreigners doesn't necessarily mean that
your culture has been thrown away. At least where I've been, Tokyo, has
absorbed quite a bit from other cultures -- though, I cannot speak from
personal experience about other regions. Heck, I even have a picture I took
of what appeared to be Sumo wrestlers eating donor kebab! If that isn't a
cultural mix, I don't know what is. With a good screening process, it
doesn't mean that there will be an overly significant hike in crime
rates, either.

>>372

No need. It is indeed fact that there are a disproportionately large
number of Blacks and Hispanics in our jails as opposed to Whites and
Asians, but that does -not- mean that all members of said races are criminal
in nature, or that even most of them are criminal in nature. It also so
happens that people of poor economic status are more likely to commit crimes.
Unfortunately, a majority of those in a poor economic state in our country
are members of the Black and Hispanic community.

The only reason Native Americans were ever labeled "Indians" is because

you make me sick. You're the problem with today's society. You're the reason
that society is getting less and less intelligent. In short, you are
society's cancer. Please, die.

On the other hand, if you aren't, would you rather I speak in simpler
terms? Am I wrong in assuming that this thread is to help people with
their English? Many people here speak on a fairly advanced level, so I
would only hope they'd want to speak with others on or above their level
in the language they're learning -- for their own benefit. If you are
indeed not a native speaker, why is it making you frustrated enough to
lash out and make assumptions? I, quite obviously, do not hold any
of the beliefs mentioned in your post. If you are not a native speaker,

For the past week or longer, the new that Russian sumo wrestlers
smoked weed has made headline here in Japan.

>Roppongi? It is where wakanoho smoked weed. lol

Wakanohos is the first who was caught red handed, which means arrested of
possesing weed. He first insisted he was the only one who smoked it but
Japan Sumo association conduct through test and found out that other
two sumo wrestlers smoked weed based on the results of scientific tests using
their urine. The two has been denying the charges but the test which is
similar to that of done by Internation Olympic commity is trustworthy.
So chances are they are lying.

As you may know, Japanese sumo has been internationalised. There are foregin wrestlers
from Mongol, Russia, Bulgaria and USA and all that. Because they are phisically
strong and Japanese yougsters don't want to be a sumo wrestlers.
This scandal led to resignation of the head of Japan sumo association and
firing the three wrestlers from Russia.

He's from Saint Louis. To be precise he was born in Japan and moved there

Tell that to the victims of the Wichita massacre. They are the end result of your

>happens that people of poor economic status are more likely to commit crimes

Many people believe that a bad social environment is a major contributor to crime.
They believe that if people of all races had the same education, income, and social status,
there would be no race differences in crime rates. Academic research, however, shows
that these differences persist even after controlling for social variables.

In fact, the percentage of the population that is black and Hispanic accounts for crime
rates more than four times better than the next best measure: lack of education.
Furthermore, even controlling for all three measures of social disadvantage hardly
changes the correlation between racial mix and crime rates. The correlation between
violent crime and the percentage of the population that is black and Hispanic is 0.78 even
when poverty, education, and unemployment are controlled, versus 0.81 when they are not.
In layman’s terms, the statistical results suggest that even if whites were just as disadvantaged
as blacks and Hispanics the association between race and violent crime would still be almost as great.
It may seem harsh to state it so plainly, but the single best indicator of an area’s violent crime rate
is its racial/ethnic mix.

people. You're just fishing for crimes based on race.

Well, it's good you've set a daily goal for yourself like that. I wish I
could say I do the same with Japanese, but I've been fairly lazy with it
as of late. I've been busy with miscellaneous things, so I don't have time
for it... and when I do, I often feel like relaxing instead. I really need
to study the language a bit more frequently.

>>433
I've tried it. Not really my thing. I will say, though, that it's nowhere
near as harmful or impairing as alcohol. Really, you just feel a little
weird and things seem funnier than they really are. It's nothing compared
to alcohol.

Digressing from the topic a bit, I don't really like to drink alcohol
much either. I also feel that people that actually start smoking these
days, with everything known about how bad for you it is, are kind of
stupid for doing so. It's just a waste of money, and a waste of health.

I think people who are discriminated constantly are more likely to commit a crime.
In one case, a Korean student in Verginia teck slaughtered a years ago.
He said he did it because people around him discriminated and treated him badly.

Those were the sources used to make the correlations. I can actually upload
the correlation graphs if you want. Also, an explanation:

"The square of the correlation coefficient indicates the
strength of the relationship between two variables. The corre-
lation between percent black-and-Hispanic and the violent
crime rate is 0.81; the square is 0.66. The correlation between
high school education and violent crime rate is 0.37; the square
is 0.14. Racial mix predicts the violent crime rate more than
four times better than lack of a high school education."

Even if there is a rigid source in hand, it doesn't mean much though, because "correlation" does not
imply "causation" in statistics. That's the illogical rhetoric that those racist scientists have been
emplolying to propagate the unwarranted ideas on race. Simply, they're just blaming the victims.

I don't think you understand what the correlation in this case is showing. It's not showing a causation in
a traditional sense, it is a comparitive set of correlations which disprove an established hypothesis (socioeconomic
sector is more important than race when it comes to crime).

No, I wouldn't. But, again, blaming an entire race for the actions of
a portion of them is ignorant. Furthermore, if you have ever seen the
video, it appears Rodney King was being savagely beaten by the LAPD
for no apparent reason. There is no portion of the tape showing Rodney
attacking officers, or making actions that would warrant the beating.
There were heavy tensions between the black community and the LAPD at
the time, and this, so to speak, was the straw that broke the camel's back.
While, I agree, that does not excuse what happened, mob mentality is
never pretty. Some of the most docile people can become raving savages
when influenced by a mob.

Also, this ties somewhat into what I made mention of earlier regarding
economic status. L.A. is known to have quite a few areas known as "projects",
full of underprivileged residents. The majority of these, as is the case
in many areas, are Black and Hispanic.

I will admit, there is definitely a problem here. However, I do not
believe and have seen no concrete evidence to support that race alone
is the cause. Ad hoc ergo propter hoc is a common logical fallacy.

No, you are missing the point, if you take a set of variables and control
for them when you already have an established hypothesis (socioeconomic status
is a better yardstick of crime than race) then there's no room for 'coincidence' in the
first place.

Do you believe race is a social construct? Do you believe intelligence is hereditable?

I use the word "variable" quite a bit, personally... in normal speech,
math, and programming (which is basically applied math).

Quite simply, it can be used a couple of ways. Here are a couple examples:

"A variable amount of salt is added to the mixture."
In this example, "variable" simply means that the amount could vary.
In other words, the amount is subject to change.

"The variable 'x' is equal to two."
This is the one you've made mention of. Mathematics.

Powah is Power. So Strictly "ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER" is

I guess ROW ROW is 漕げ漕げ in Japanese. If so, these don't have
specific meaning. I think row row is encouraging and inspiring
the main characters in anime to "fight the power".

The same-line thing was due to two main problems, I think.
1. If someone posted and it didn't update, they may have tried to
click again to post.
2. If someone posted and was refreshing every so often to see if it
updated, the refresh would post the line again.

Making it a Flash widget means that it won't re-post on a refresh.
Need to update the code a bit so that if the exact same text as the
last line is posted, it won't update.

I'm not collecting IP addresses and so can't match them up specifically,

When they are italian, they are white. When they are
non-european, they are muds. What a convenient explanation!
Stormfronters face the fact. Most of them are muds

Italia should bring out nation-wide DNA test as quickly as possible

I think their racism to "non-whites" comes from their non whiteness!

Brothers bankrupcy and what kind of impact the bankrupcy'll make on

That's a little deside the point here.

Many countires (including Japan) are/were asked to support US financially by not selling
American stocks. In this situation, however, Korean Developed Bank didn't do it, and
as a result of which Lehman Brothers were faced with lack of capital, and went bunkrupt.

I think there are many reasons America will hate S.Korea.

What a Korean newspaper says is:

Korean Development Bank has been inadvertently and effectively advertising itself lately.
What does it mean? As a matter of fact, KDB tried to buy out Lehman brothers, or the
4th biggest investment bank in America, even though the result wasn't so good.

They didn't agree with the price and terms of acquisitions, and within our gorvornment were
there many people who stood against the plan, so they have almost given up now.
The president of the bank said, "if we missed this oppotunity, there wouldn't be another
chance to come korean finance industry would step up to the higher level", and tried to
acquire Lehman brothers. That, however, seems to fail.

With that said, KDB got suddenly famous among the international finance market
through the Lehman brothers takeover battle.

It's said that oversea media have described KDB quite differently than before this time.
So far they used to regard the bank as "south korea small bank KDB", but that expression
isn't used already. Up until now, the presence of South Korea at Wall Street was quite
limited, so it'd be safe to say that Korean development bank wasn't known at all.

It's said that the effect of advertising of KDB by this buying out was more than money
could buy. KDB's broadly known and the name is here to stay in Wall Street. According to
one of the PR team of KDB, in rough estimation the adverting effect would deserve 2 billion dollars at least.

KDB hasn't been successful in negotiation, but KDB's advertised itself quite successfully.

they do the same things toward us. even worse.
korean plagiarism is only popular on the net, like 2ch.

Chinese responded more fast and refuted in more organaized
way. In that sense we should learn from china. They even
joked korean plagiarism.

Japanese are fool and self-deceited people. Some japanse
teach koreans japanese culture and allow them to do freely.
They think they have been doing good things and tolerance
makes them more good people. Very twisted mind of people.
As for kendo, only koreans call kendo kumdo (chinese invented
chinse character but they call kendo kendo. cos phonetic
difference directly means kendo is japanese culture ) and
koreans are permitted to do their own kata(form) in korea and
koreans have been exporting their kata abroad in the name of kendo/kumdo abroad.
And korean have their own 作法(manner) in the match. For
example they don't do 蹲踞(crouching) in the match in korea.
They reluctantly follow japanese style manner in the international
match.
All in all japs are responsible for korean's bad manners.
They papmer koreans and feel delight in a self-afflicting way.

there is a set of words, 韓紙(korean pepar). But it's dubious that the words 韓紙 has
really long history.
I suspect the words 韓紙 derived recently from the words 和紙 (japanese paper).
和紙's dilect translation might be mild or harmonious paper though.

Ahh... So the hacker broke into her yahoo's free mail account, not
outlook express or other sorts of intalled email software on her PC.

Then, it may have been easier. So, her email address of yahoo was
readily available on the Net and the hacker just pretended to
be herself and type in her addy and pass word on Yahoo!'s page.

Naturally his first attempt failed because of wrong pass word and
Yahoo asks a question or two to make a user remember their pass word.
So the hacker guessed the right password based on the question.
The question was such an easy answer to gueess as long as you know
some facts about her or you search on the Net and managed to
got into her account.

This way can be useful for potential hackers.

Sorry to go back to the racist topic, but I missed it and I have something
I want to say: I believe that the majority of racists in USA are in fact
black. Of course, I have no definite evidence for this claim, but alas, nobody
has any evidence that says that the majority of racists are white/any other race.

Oh, how many times I've seen a black person play the race card.

Anybody from America should think a bit about that.

PS: Hahaha, as if Hannah Montana (the TV show) wasn't horrible enough,
it's 100 times more horrible when dubbed to Japanese.

ex-boyfriend the other day.
He has asked someone's help and advice, like me...
Because he is really worried about his job these days.
Such as he's thinking of going to quit his job and so on.
To tell the truth, I broke up with him about 5 months ago.
He's 5 years yonger than me. He graduated from university
in Nagoya, and decided to start new job in Osaka last spring.
After few months later, he got transferd to Nara.
He was really busy from then on. (He is still busy now)
He couldn't take a day off,and had to work overtime.
So it was so hard to keep relations between him and me
at that time.
But we still keep in touch by e-mail once in a while.

I wish I could help his matter. But I couldn't advice to him

Hey Japan,

I don't get this "respect for tradition" thing, or obeying your parents no matter how retarded they are.

Seriously, are you guys really going to do things the same old way forever until we all die from stupidity?

ANY progress ANYWHERE has been because some enterprising individual decided to fuck tradition.

Hmmm. It's more than expected. Nearly half of american believe that
God created human-beings at once.
And theistic evolution ( I take it intelligent design) is
so prevalent. Neo-consevatism or counter-reactionary-conservatism or whatever
is so powerful!
intelligent design admits evolution theory but they see God intention
through it.
I also imagine the intention of intelligence far beyond us from universe.
But it's not a conceptualized God like
a white man ( actually middle-eastener) with long beard. lol
Rather close to the image of God in A Space Odyssey 2001.

From the words of Von Neumann(possibly one of the world's most intelligent man to have everlived).

In japan even bankers and securities salesman are called elite (salaryman, businessman).
Is it true of the US?
Bank is regarded as more honorable than securities company in general.
It might be different from the U.S.
In japan bank is more reliable occupation than securities.
Making profit by the stock is considered to be rather
despicable.
And securities company don't earn as much money as that of
the U.S. American investment bank's (securities company)
salary is unbelievable.
Men with high IQ and good academic background go to

Uyoku's majority is chosenjin and burakumin, which are

Asao has made several controversial and provocative comments about

Or they are just tring to scare asao off. It's an implied intimidation.

I hate non-virgins. The Virgin Elite must band together, get a bulldozer,
push all non-virgins into giant holes, pour gasoline on them, light a match,
toss it in, and sip lemonade while they all burn alive. Then, just before they
die, we pour the dirt back in. Not only does it effectively put out the fire,

Besides Jap and Nip, are there any common derogatory terms for Japanese?
958Ether ◆4p9idX66UM :2008/09/28(日) 17:55:50
>>957
Not that I can think of. Though, "Jap" being derogatory is debatable.
Some seem to find it offensive while others don't. It doesn't stand out as
a derogatory term to me unless it's obviously meant to be (for example,
when some retard says "dumb Japs" or the like). Most westerners will have
some trouble telling the difference between, for example, a Japanese person
and a Korean or Chinese person (myself included). Therefore, those seeking
to utilize a derogatory term to describe a Japanese person or otherwise,
will use a generic one intended for all Asians. At least, this is what
I hear most often (which is not often at all).

However, there are a couple derogatory terms commonly heard (at least here in the
States) targeted at specific cultures, and often incorrectly used to
refer to any Asian. The two most commonly used here for that are
"Chink" and "gook." The prior term is (when correctly used) targeted at
people of Chinese descent, and the latter term (I'm relatively sure) is
targeted at people of Vietnamese descent (if this is not correct, someone
please correct me).

As far as "Jap" goes, I believe that was more or less used in a derogatory
manner primarily in the WWII era post-Pearl Harbor bombings. "Nip" may
have entered common vernacular in the same era, but that I'm nowhere
near sure of. I've rarely heard "Nip" used. Is this a play on "Nippon"?

Now I'm wondering how this varies in usage in other areas of the western
world. I've never really given it any thought.

(If there are any spelling/grammatical mistakes in the above passage, I
apologize. Quite tired and in a hurry, so I'm pushing through this post
at a rather fast pace. I'd also appreciate the input of any other westerners'
reading this concerning the subject!)
959名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/09/28(日) 18:35:54
I'm Japanese and I know what you said about Jap. I'm not offended at all
when it's just used as an abbrebiation and such. I'm totally aware that
Jap isn't really considered offensive outside of Japan and Wapan.

I was just trying to write some insult to Japanese for fun, and I thought
saying Jap or Nip wouldn't be very original at all, so I wanted to know something
different and "cool".
By the way, gook is targeted at Koreans, not Vietnamese.
