Hey!!! you NEETs, nerds, YouTube-link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis,
Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers,
Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters,
Big-boobs fans, Weeaboos from all over the world, learners of Japanese
who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, and cunning
linguists. And Let's pray for the rehabilitation of the Internet-addicted
housewife.

Here is the place to have a blast!!!!!

Africa is steadily improving on its own feet.
Mugabe and Sudanese president are the hopes for Black race.
They are just clashing with Jewish interests.
Resources of Africa is for africans. It doesn't matter
what technologies others have. Africans have the right to
earn huge money from their natural resources by making others
work. Just like jews make money by doing nothing.

Hello,日本お勉強していますから、わたしは2ちゃんねるのレポートおかいています。
I have a few questions for the 2ちゃんねら.

What do you think of Hiroyuki Nishimura?
What do you use 2channel for?
If 2channel did not exist, what would you do instead?

ありがとうございます。

I don't like him. Because, even though I use 2ch, I think it would be good
if 2ch deminished. He should quit running this mega board in my opinion.
But even if he quit, no doubt another people would start the same kind of
message boards. but the population of 2channelers would be devided into
some message boards so it's better than 2ch having dominent online
population. I don't think it's good 2ch continue to be a place of
verbal abuses and worthless posts.

2ch is faced with lots of lawsuites because some people file a lawsuits
about posts left on 2ch and hiroyuki himself, who won't delete these posts.
He lost some lawsuites but he haven't paid even a bit of money.

I use 2ch because I'm Neet and there's nothing much to do other than 2ch browsing.
But as I said above, 2ch isn't my lifline. I wouldn't be in trouble even if 2ch diminished.
I would find other things to do. I use 2ch just to kill time.

If 2ch didn't exist, I would read more websites/blogs written in English.
The biggest reason I use Internet is to study English. So if 2ch stopped
to exist, I would spend more time reading websites or blogs written in English
and my English would get better at higher speed. Turn of my PC
and readinga book would be a good idea.

I just watched the weirdest anime on TV. It's about a western style pastry shop run by a
guy from a rich family and two other guy staffers. There's an obviously gay employee and
another man who came to look after the owner, and they seem to have fallen for each other.
Anyway, the funniest part is, they do stuff like going in circles hand in hand in the rain like
little girls and then going like "What the fuck am I doing in the rain when I'm over 30?"
I don't usually watch anime, but this gay comedy was pretty hilarious.
35名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/07/18(金) 03:16:34
Do you mean Antique Bakery? Gays on 4chan love that show.
36名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/07/18(金) 03:24:29
I don't know what it's called, but that was crazy.
37名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/07/18(金) 04:32:59
"Antique Bakery" seems like the English title of it.
Funny that gay and 4chan are the two least interesting things to me, though.
38名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/07/18(金) 04:33:13
Antique Bakery isn't gay. It just has a gay character in it.

Zeebra and 真木蔵人 are DQN friends so maybe Zeebra asked him to

His grand father was a owner of ホテルニュージャパン。
Zeebra was a student of Keio elementary school and junior high.

So, in "AKTION - Still Neva Enuff feat. ZEEBRA" Zeebra uses the
different name(=AKITON) Zeebra features himself in the video.
I wonder why. I don't understand what DQN like him does.

On a hill far away stood an old [ rugged ] cross,
The emblem of [ suffering ] and shame;
And I love that old cross
[ where the dearest and best For a world of [ lost ] sinners was slain ].
Refrain
So I’ll cherish the old [ rugged ] cross,

I will cling to the old [ rugged ] cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

Didn't know there's Spanish version of this song.
I wonder why? I googled her and didn't find any connections of her to
Latin or Spanish things. Is it just market strategy to appeal
hispanic population in US and people in Spain and Latin America?

I know Enrique Igresias and Christina Aguirela released spanish versions
of their songs but both of them have Spanish or Latin connections.

JoJo speaks good Spanish as long as I listened to the song.

something I don't understand. Here's the transcription of that sketch
Could somebody help me out? Thanks!
-------------------
1 Larry: Thank you sven!
2 Sven: You're welcome.
3 Larry: Alright. What is that? is that Swedish? Sven?
4 Sven: It's Norwegian.
5 Larry: Ha! I'm sorry I thought... So Sven wasn't a Swedish name.
6 Sven: It's not. (besides?)I don't looks Swedish do we? It's big difference.
7 Larry: Appearently. What's the difference? May I ask..
8 Sven: Culture, Looks, Name, history, food...
9 Larry: O.K. O.K. Sorry honest mistake.
10 Sven: ...
11 Larry: Are Swedes suchy if you referred them as Norwegian?
12 Sven: Why don't you ask the Swedes?
13 Larry: Yeah, Maybe I will(would?).
-------------------
line 11's word "Suchy" is the word I'm wondering about
is there such word like "suchy"? or just I heard it wrong?
I couldn't find it on the internet or dictionary.
I got the meaning of the line but the word bugs me..

Perhaps it was "touchy". If you're touchy about something, you're
more likely to become irritated by it. Just as Canadians are touchy
about being mistaken for Americans, so Swedes might be about being
called Norwegians.

13 Larry: Yeah, maybe I will. (you got this one - no 'would')

Some white nationalists like China because
they are on a par with the jews in terms of
greediness, shrewdness, presumptuousness and cruelity.
Chinese won't shirink when the jews accuse chinese
of human right issue or atrocities in autonomous regions (occupied
areas).
White nationalist hope chinese will diminish jewish power and
they want to learn from chinese impudence.

But white nationalist look over this point : the jews and chinese
go hand in hand beyond the reach or our eye.

321名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/08/08(金) 10:51:41

Most definately. I think the main plan of the Jews is to start civil war in China.
And then extend that into a regional war between Han Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Taiwanese
and so on.

After this war is over. USA will be able to make smaller countries out of East Asia and plant
bases everywhere to extend Jewish influence to the far east. East Asia will never recover
from these wars and thus Jewish run America remains the sole superpower.

Should I keep posting or will I get banned if I speak about these things?

2, I have believed you, but I have just changed my mind about you.
340名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/08/08(金) 14:53:22
>>339
Out of those two, the first one is correct. Since you've already changed your mind, you have to use the past tense form "had".
Personally, if I had just changed my mind, I would say "I did believe you before, but now I've changed my mind." or something like that.
The reason I would use "did" is to emphasize the fact that I really did believe this person at one point in time.

TV was on when it was held but I didn't pay much attention to it.

Some people like watching an opening ceremonty of Olympic Games but
I'm not the kind of guy. I agree that it is artistic and for some people interesting
to watch because each opening ceremoney reflects cultures of a hosting
country.

I'm not an artistic person so all I'm interested in is each matches, games.
I don't like sports where players are judged by artistic factors such as
figure skating and Syncronized swimming because scores they get are largely
influenced by judges subjectivity.

What I goes like hmmmm about is that people suddenly starts to cheer for minor
sports such as judo, amateur wrestling gymnasticds when it comes to
the Olympics when the events of those sports are almost ignored usually.

347名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/08/09(土) 09:44:30
In opening ceremony thousands of kanfu dancers in a circle
moved simultaneously. It's a bit gross reminiscent of Nazi.
But they moved slightly apart. There was a little time lag.
I think DPRK is a true successor and improver of nazi.
DPRK is more sophiscated totalitarian state.

Israel team didn't get big applause they used to get in
olympic games held in western countries.
Among others, olympic games in the USA is worst.
Israel gets ear-piercing scream. Is it the evidence that
the USA is ZOG? I can imagine the same or the worse will
happen in London, bastion of zionist.

Chinese spectators are cold to Israel.
Is it the evidence that China is not ruled by the jewish
world order?
350名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/08/09(土) 11:06:27
>>349

Hmmm, we shall see what happens in London. I don't think Israel will get much
cheers to be honest. Also, yes, Israel was coldly recieved in China.

I think the world opinion in general is turning against Israel and ZOG is a bit
worried.

Americans still love Israel though.

Personally I liked the Chinese Characters part of the ceremony, to illustrate the
typing press. The Countdown was amazing too. On a purely artistic level, the ceremony
was very beautiful, perhaps the greatest ever. It was conducted by the same person
who did the film 'House of Flying Daggers' which I liked.

So now that the thread disappeared, I'll ask a quesdtion here.

Let's say you invite two friends to your cottage in a resort.
You decided to take a picture in one of the rooms, welcoming them.
You'll write a welcome message on a paper and have the friends
sit behind it and you take a photo of them.

Does it sound natural if the message is " Dear A and B. Welcome to
my cottage." I'm not sure if "Dear" is right to use in this context.
I know it's used when you write a letter to someone but what about
the situation like this?

Is it better and natural to write, "To A and B" instead of "Dear A and B?"
Or are there other good alternatives?

>He's saying "J-rappers" suck right?

He's not saying such a thing in the lyrics.
He knows his looks is bad and he looks terrible and with that in mind,
he degrades Japanese rappers. The intention is even if serious Japanese
rappers try to be cool like black rappers, they aren't very different
from him seen in the video.

He's not a rapper. He's more of an entertainer. He is said to compose
songs but behind the whole project to sell him in Japanese music or entertainment
industry, there's brain behind him.

As of now he has made a splash on the Net but still hasn't been in
mainstream.

Mic smugglers, hustlers, hold your jugglers
Forty guzzlers, muscular, Son'll fuck wit'cha
One of ya, actin' funnier, think you're hungrier
Some of y'all know, the streets stay ghetto govenor
Swash Buckler, Club King, pull the gun to her
For the love of her, punish 'em, drop they juggler
Son's guns stompin' dirt, hurts come at runnier
Son's luckier, put your money up and stumbler
Raise her birthday, cut yo' - Son Gun-the-Gun
Comes from vomit coke, drunk number runs

I think it's so rude of you to say African Americans are not as
smart as other race. African food is much better than Anglo-Saxon's
food. That's one of the great elements to prove their sensitivities are

be good or better than other races.

451名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/08/16(土) 23:02:52
Just to speak in genral, white people look cooler
especially when Japanese go study abroad for the first time.
But as we get to know more about them, they are just
relaxed normal people who are nothing better than us.
Also black people seem a bit different, so we hesitate to talk,
but after knowing them, at least, I thought they were really
thoughtful and kind. So if you knew nothing about race,
you have no right to criticize them. or should I say, if you
were lucky, you had a chance to meet a nice xx race and if you
had a bad luck, you had a chance to meet a bad xx race, and probably
it would stay in your mind forever. and tell people around you
that xx race is terrible!! but you are actually only talking about
one or two people that you know.

So, as my father said, we alway should behave good.

to one foreigner, he/s would generalize the image of you, with the bad
image or your race as
"xx jin is bad", not you, personally.

I would be friend of all—the foe, the friendless; I would be giving, and forget the gift;
I would be humble, for I know my weakness; I would look up, and laugh, and love and lift.
I would look up, and laugh, and love and lift.

I would be faithful through each [ passing ] moment; I would be constantly in touch with God;
I would be strong [ to follow [ where He leads me ] ]; I would have faith [ to keep the path [ Christ trod ] ];

Who is so low [ that I am not his brother ]? Who is so high [ that I’ve no path to him ]?
Who is so poor, [ that I may not feel his hunger ]? Who is so rich [ I may not pity him ]?
Who is so rich [ I may not pity him ]?

Who is so hurt [ I may not know his heartache ]? Who sings for joy [ my heart may never share ]?
Who in God’s heaven has passed beyond my vision? Who to Hell’s depths [ where I may never fare ]?
Who to Hell’s depths [ where I may never fare ]?

On the issue of racism, I do not think that African-Americans are less intelligent than whites or Asians, or any other race.
However, I believe it is the violent, "gangster" culture of many African-Americans that has given them a bad name.
I am white, but I do not have many racist friends.
496名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/08/19(火) 02:05:37

Really? I would say deep down you and they have discrimination
against African Americans. What if your siblings especially your
female siblings announced you that she'll get married with African
American? How would you feel if you see a black man are dating with
a beautiful white woman?

If you feel disgusted with the ideas even a little bit, then
that's a proof that you have discrimination against them.

I don't know well about African-American, but I think it is a mistake to say

This is because I know very intelligent black people, such as “Condoleezza Rice”.

Rice's IQ doesn't prove that all blacks are intelligent.
But, if the data is correct, one possible reason is that
many Africans (regardless of their colors) don't take
enough education they need due to poverty or underdevelopment.

All this talk about race makes me yawn. I shall now proceed to steer the discussion towards subjects that are more interesting.

Do you read English-language novels? If so, what authors and titles?
I've found that reading fine literature is the best way to get into a language, apart from actually spending time abroad.
I myself have been reading mostly fantasy and scifi - I'm a huge nerd - but now I'm thinking of broadening my field towards classic authors such as Jane Austin and the Brontë sisters.

I read the novel, too. I was able to follow the storyline but I don't think
I understood the details of it. It's good to read a book in English
to improve your English but if you really want to understand the details
of it, it's better to read it in your mother tongue.

It's good to read translated books such as Murakami's in English in
terms of improving your reading skills but I can't help but asking
myself why bother reading translated books when one of the ponits
in learning foreign languages is to understand different cultures through
a foreign language.

It's only when you read books in a foreign language written by writers overseas
that you can expose yourself to different cultures through the book.
514名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/08/19(火) 23:59:12

Yeah fair enough.
Reading can really help you understand other cultures.
But for me, reading isnt really my cup of tea so,
I have to like the books im reading. Otherwise I wont finish them you know.

Ive tried other authors like Nick Hornby (that guy who wrote About a Boy,
which was made into a movie a while ago.).
But I just liked Murakamis style better. Its pretty beautiful.

So yeah its just that I like his stuff. and reading is just for fun for me.

backgrounds.

if you really want to understand the details
of it, it's better to read it in your mother tongue.

It depends on your English skills, doesn't it? Also,
since translations include more or less the translaters'
interpretations, it could be that the impressions of
an original and the translation are quite different.

Historically, black people have been put in disadvantageous position
in society. For example, in United States few decades ago, they were
prohibited to vote if they didn't pay enough tax or if they couldn't
READ.

It was really effective because at that time most of them were
from SLAVERY. Even now in U.S., black people tend to be less rich
and educated than white, like other immigrants.

However, it was black people who made rock'n'roll, like Chuck Berry,
and Hip Hop, Jazz. Eminem or Elvis just copied their culture and
arranged it.

One thing is for sure: black people are not neccessarily inferior.

I understand. As is almost all of the movies based
on a novel or story, it's really cut short into the frame
of two or two and a half hours. Moreover, the movie was just a
beginning of the seven books. It may be a bit hard to get
absorbed into the world. If you don't like fantasy, it's gonna
be waste of time.

And what made you think I am a woman(^^)? It made me feel

Yeah yeah yeah, that's right.
Well, the world is still mainly controlled by Western countries, EU, US, and Russia.
After the WWII, our country has been made great efforts to catch up world powers and
it is to some extent accomplished (I think so).

But! Recently I'm worrying about whether current Japan's position wouldn't be lost in the future,
because of China's progress, the lack of natural resources, America's decline,
Russia's revival, and so on.

If you were the Japanese president, what would you do ?
How do you think can we break the gap between whites and colored people ?
Would you be on the side of US ? China ?

Ah,,,and the reason why I thought you were a lady is,,, nothing special.
But it was a little bit difficult for me to imagine a mature man was crying reading the Harry Potter...^^;

Also, yesm hip-hop, R&B and Jazz are but footnotes in musical history,

Through this discution I realized that a person's IQ or
his potential depends not
on his race but on his nationality. As someone said, while
the average IQ of black people is lower than the others, some blacks
have created their original cultures and are superior in some
fields like sports.

Don't you think, for example, that Japanese Americans born and raised in America
have American characteristics rather than Japanese ones??

I don't like Chinese or Koreans, even if they belong to the

"If black people had encountered the favourable circumstances to develop
quickly."

This is a stupid statement, it claims that environment shapes development but not that
environment shapes evolution. Africans are stupid because an abundance of wild animals
meant they never had to move beyond a hunter-gatherer society, effectively, natural selection
never selected for the things that cause impetus for the development of civilization.

I concede rock'n roll may be an invention of Black.
But they don't do it anymore. Why? It's foolish for blacks
themselves to admits rock'n roll is a white people's
culture.
And I suspect rock'n roll is not black invention only.
Isn't it collaboration of white and black?
Didn't irish folk or something influence rock'n roll?

That's not neccessarily true, I suppose.
For instance, it is too common for us to have "private property",
such as land or house or car or whatever.

But in African countries, the story is a bit different. They don't
privatized their land. Instead, they share their land, making it possible
for one to use the land for agriculture in the rainy season and for
the other to do it for pasturing in the dry season. That was easier and
effective way to make a good living, helping each other.

The idea of privatization has a close relationship to capitalism,
which resulted in the way the world is, creating a huge gap between
the rich and poor, causing the degredation of environment.

It's all problem of culture.

"But in African countries, the story is a bit different. They don't
privatized their land."

This is patent bullshit and you are quite clearly a delusional liar.

Firstly, most blacks never even cultivated land to begin with. They were largely
hunter-gatherers until the Europeans TOLD them how to do it.

Those few that could cultivate land were organized in a system even more primitive
than feudal Europe, the Chief owned the majority of the land and those who worked it
lived in the village and were apportioned enough to sustain their subsistence.

Stop trying to behave like blacks had some developed notion of 'socialism' and that that was
the reason for their overwhelming failure to cultivate the seed.

Tibet was a part of China for 1000 years. Only AFTER the western nations and imperial
Japan humiliated China and cut China up was Tibet seperated. Then Chinese put their country
together piece by piece once again. Westerners have NO RIGHT to speak on this issue considering
what they did to China. Boxer Rebellion, Opium Wars and so on.

When China has massive population growth... You say:

"china wants to flood the world"

When China introduces population controls you say:

"HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE!"

When China is insular and does not allow free trade, you say:

"Chinese is xenophobic!"

When China opens up her markets, you say:

"China is taking away our jobs!"

When China was poor, powerful nations treated them like dogs.

When China builds industry, powerful nations blame them for global warming.

There's no way that London can live up to the extravagance of the
ceremonies of Beijing. As you probably saw, all the UK managed to
do was put on a little dance routine with bowler hats, umbrellas,
and a red double-decker bus. The London 2012 logo is horrible too,
even though it cost something like £400,000 (81 million yen) to come
up with. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what we can do to try and
impress the rest of the world, but I doubt that we'll end up doing
anything spectacular.

And if you saw the handover of the flag, you also saw Boris Johnson,
Mayor of London. He's what you expect from someone who went to Eton
and graduated from Oxford. He's something of a laughing stock, but

Public schools in Britain are known more for their rugby teams than for
football, so perhaps he just had a flashback to his childhood and switched
to rugby. Football is seen more as the working man's sport, I guess.

As for the two universities, it's hard to say which is considered more
prestigious, though I'd say Oxford by a slight margin. Oxford has topped
the university league tables since 2005 now. Apparently, though, it's Cambridge
gruaduates who go onto better jobs.

In reality, it's whoever wins the Oxford-Cambridge boat race that year that becomes
the most prestigious.

Are there stereotypes about users of different boards? For example, people
who browse the news boards, the singles/dating boards, the video games board

In japan bowler hat is called silk hat(シルクハット).
http://images.google.co.jp/images?sourceid=navclient&hl=ja&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLG_ja___JP225&q=%E3%82%B7%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AF%E3%83%8F%E3%83%83%E3%83%88&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
I searched on the net and found out mistake.
Bowler hat corresponds to 山高帽
http://images.google.co.jp/images?sourceid=navclient&hl=ja&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLG_ja___JP225&q=%E5%B1%B1%E9%AB%98%E5%B8%BD&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
I think the words, silk hat(シルクハット) is still popular in japan
because we see it frequently on special occasions like magic and
champlain movies.
I think many japanese confound 山高帽 with シルクハット because 山高帽
is very similar to シルクハット and we rarely see 山高帽 in real life these days.
Top hat is foreign words for japanese. Many don't know
top hat is equivalent to silk hat(シルクハット).

We call double-decker bus ロンドンバス(london bus). double-decker was
rare in japan so double-decker bus meant london bus many years ago.
But we come to see double-decker bus often in japan.
We don't call it ロンドンバス. We simply call it 二階建てバス(double-decker
bus in Japanese). lol
ロンドンバス means red double-decker bus in London.

The newest version of the software seems to be unstable.
I think I saw someone's post saying you shouldn't updated it to
the latest version. Actually the lastest software I installed
stopped working several times so far.

If I'm not wrong, the green TVU icon whichi is left to the name of a TV show
means it can been watched live on your PC and a Windows mediaplayer icon
which is left to the name of TV show means it is recorded program.
I don't know about other icons.

I set a language in Japanese and all the shows have Windows media player
icon to its left now. Yomiuri TV news reports about Bejing Olympics
again and again. The same content as yesterday. I only tried for two days
but haven't encountered any shows aired with this software and
through terrestrial broadcast simultaneously in Japanese.

Rozen Maiden does a much better job at that with Jun
733名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/08/28(木) 04:22:54

went outside on Sunday nights in the park. Meanwhile, Jun from Rozen Maiden shit

more convincing overall.

After it had warmed up a bit, there was, indeed, much crashing of
programme and grinding of teeth. It was somewhat frustrating because
favourites are only saved on exit, so if it crashes, you lose all
your favourites from that session.

There were some live broadcasts when I checked, such as TBS, Asahi,
Fuji and NTV, but the majority seem to be prerecorded. Last night,
I settled on Horror Nostalgia and watched 'Trail of the Moon Beast'.

Jesus’ Trial before Pilate
Very early in the morning the [ leading ] priests, the elders, and the teachers of religious law—the entire high council— met
[ to discuss their next step ]. They bound Jesus, led him away, and took him to Pilate, the Roman governor.
Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
Jesus replied, “You have said it.”
Then the [ leading ] priests kept [ accusing him of many crimes ],
and Pilate asked him, “Aren’t you going [ to answer them ]?
What about all these charges [ they are bringing against you ]?”
But Jesus said nothing, much to Pilate’s surprise.

Now it was the governor’s custom each year during the Passover celebration
[ to release one prisoner—anyone [ the people requested ].
One of the prisoners at that time was Barabbas, a revolutionary who had committed murder in an [ uprising ].
The crowd went to Pilate and asked him [ to release a prisoner as usual ].
“Would you like [ me to release to you this ‘King of the Jews’]?”
Pilate asked.
(For he realized by now [ that the [ leading ] priests had arrested Jesus out of envy.)
But at this point the [ leading ] priests stirred up the crowd
[ to demand the release of Barabbas instead of Jesus ].
Pilate asked them, “Then what should I do with this man [ you call the king of the Jews ]?”
They shouted back, “Crucify him!”
“Why?” Pilate demanded. “What crime has he committed?”
But the mob roared even louder, “Crucify him!”
So [ to pacify the crowd ], Pilate released Barabbas to them.
He ordered [ Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers
[ to be crucified ] ] ].

Popularity of showbiz people is somehow manipulated by TV, talent agency and

strategy.

There are two kinds of anime fans in America.

There are the anime fans who proclaim their "otaku" label loudly.
They go to every convention, and dress up in costumes even if they haven't got the right body type.
If you talk to these people over the internet, you'll often find that they can't spell, and they use things like "lol" a lot.
They are almost always fans of Naruto and similar anime and manga.

Then, there are the other anime fans.
They almost never go to conventions. They few who do never dress up.
They keep quiet. They understand that "otaku" is an insult.
They may appear normal, or they may appear introverted.
In any case, you'll never find out about their love for anime and manga, no matter how long you talk to them.
They watch more serious media.

Out of these two groups, one is a lot louder.
You understand, right?

Originally, the word 'otaku' is meant to be an insult or self-deprecating humor, but now
people sometimes use it to highlight the speciality or exceptional passion in their work
by suffixing it to a word.
ex.) He's such an architecture otaku that he's always thinking about his new designs.
It can also, of course, be used to describe any type of collector although some refuse to call themselves so.

No, it's not. Back in the 80's when the term came out, it only had the bad connotation

so overused now you can use it without insulting someone.
809イギリス人:2008/08/30(土) 19:43:01

It all depends on the hostname suffix. If it ends in .se, then access
is denied, but if it ends in .com, it will work. I can post because
mine ends in .com, but when I tried to post from my phone a couple
days ago, it was denied because it ends in .co.uk (it's just the .uk
part it has a problem with).

crossing the road on a so-called "zebra crossing,"
where drivers must stop for pedestrians.
For the British it's an important symbol of the rights of the individual
over larger forces.
---------------------------------------
It's from ABC news. There is also zebra crossing in Japan.
It's nothing special.
http://images.google.co.jp/images?ndsp=20&um=1&hl=ja&rlz=1T4GGLG_ja___JP225&q=%E6%A8%AA%E6%96%AD%E6%AD%A9%E9%81%93&start=0&sa=N
I don't get the essence of the news.
In japan crossing without traffic signal is "yeild to pedestrians" too.
But pedestrians have to make sure that there is no cars before
crossing the street. zeebra crosing virtually is "cars first"
and pedestrian have to walk the crossing between absence of cars.
And zebra crossing withoug traffic signal is mainly paved on
road with fewer cars.
Then what's special in british zebra crossing?
In London zebra crossings of "yield to pedestrians" are
paved across the roads with many cars?

878名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/08/31(日) 09:04:00
I think it's dangerous and messy
to make sure that there are no passerbys every time passing the crossing.
Drivers must slow down cars and check the pedestrians everytime.

Don't u.k pedestrians turn left and right to check the cars? They walk the street
forward boldly?
879イギリス人:2008/08/31(日) 09:23:30
>>877
Our zebra crossings are rarely as big or wide as that. They're usually on
smaller and less busy roads, with less traffic. However, they all have traffic
signals: amber flashing lights on both ends, to warn drivers of the crossing.

It is courteous to let cautious pedestrians who are waiting to cross. The cars
must yield when a pedestrian actually steps onto the zebra crossing itself.
Anyone who doesn't make sure cars are slowing before crossing is pretty stupid.

Oh, thanks. The situation seems to be not so different from Japan.
TV news may be too exaggerated and stereotyped then.
It was an american news report. So There might be surprising thing for
the USA that Japan and the U.K find commonplace though.

In japan people often wait on the end of the crossing and
cars pass mindlessly.
There is a considerable reason for it. Because stopping for the
pedestrian can cause car-clash with cars behind.

Tomorrow is Monday and for almosot everybody, it must be blue Monday.

But for a Neet like me, it's just one of the oridinary days.
But it's the day I feel most guilty. Because everybody goes to work while
I just stay at home. To feel less guilty I wake up all night and sleep
before dawn. That way, I don't have to feel guilty at least in the morning
when people go to work.

But staying at home without bathing in sunlight has made me kind of sick.
I felt dizzy and I have vomited actually because of that. I went to
hospital and a doctor told me the cause of the dizziness and vomiting
has something to do with an organs inside my ears that handles balance.
Don't know the name of the organs in English. Anyway from that day,
maybe even before the day, I feel tired more than ever and feel slight
dizzniess almost all the time.

I type wrong more often and that is because of the dizziness.
Can't change this lifestyle though. It's better to bathe in sunlight but
in the daytime when everybody work, doing net surfing even if in cludes English
website and studying English, kind of make me feel guilty so I end up
waking up all night and sleep from morinig till evening.

Keep this kind of lifstyle for years makes you sick so be careful.

i guess, what >>916 is trying to say is that our usage of "challenge" seems a bit strange.
In English, "challenge" probably means something like "confrontation", whereas, in Japanese it simply means
"to do something". Like, "I am going to study German (English)" ==> "I will challenge German (Japanese)", if you know what i mean.

And I appreciate if some ppl here used a specific username. It probably helps conversations flow in a right direction.

But mine is a light one, I think. I should feel lucky.

Depending on what you call "logic" too much makes it difficult for you

Your "logic" may work to get a high score on Engklish exams such as

another story. You are tied to your own logic and that is one of the obstacles

Why is Japan so racist?
I am making this judgment based on one YouTube video.

Those signs bannning foreginers are NOT because of racism in Japan.
Those bars and shops have experiencfed nuisances by just a small
portion of foreigners. Yeah, just a small portion of them but the damages
they suffered made a big impact on their business. That's why they
banned all foreigners alltogether. That's self-diffense to run thier business.

The foreigners shouldn't blame Japanese people. They should blame the
small portion of foreigners who didn't behave in the past instead.
968名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/09/01(月) 03:19:29
>>967
By that logic, if a small group of Japanese people makes trouble in a store,
Japanese as a whole should be banned while only foreigners can shop at that
business. It's bad logic no matter how you look at it.

And person who thinks himself/herself smart who is actually fool
is also pathetic.
And it's you.

I think the foreigners who caused troubles in the past didn't
undersatnd Japanese so shop or bar owners had hard time handling
those situations. Plus, it was not once or twice but quite a lot of time
foreigners caused troubles so the bar or shop owners dicided to ban
foreigners all foreigner. In short, before claming it's racism, they should
blame the foreigners who caused troubles in the past.

I agree with you. And I know japanese are not strong enough,
impudent enough to do such a thing abroad.
And if those thing happened, I think japanese in japan
would apology for the misdemeanor of their kin abroad. lol
Japanese are such a people.

I think foreigners mean mainly Russians. Violent, alchoholic
russians are hard to stop by weak japanese. If russian want to
be customer, they should urge other violent russians to
behave right. I think japanese would do the same in the same situation.

You have to consider bannning is not sector by sector basis.
Shop who got actual harm started banning. Harming is bigger than
profits they brought.

I don't know you will agree with this or not. People with
tattoo are usually not allowed to enter sento(public bath).
people with tattoo are usually connected with yakuza(japanese mafia)
and their presence offends another normal customers.

There are foreigners out there who are ashamed about the way other foreigners behave.

I was talking to a weeaboo JET teacher and he says many of his colleagues behave very
badly when drunk and so he never associates with them and only has Japanese friends.

Oh, yes. Probably it is easier said than done ...
Medical science has constantly been developing so I hope they will
find a way to get rid of it or at least make it easier for you to
live with it...
I'm now saying this because I went to bed early last night.
Cheers.

Today's a topic on the television would be out going prime minister, Mr. Fukuda.
He gave the explanation for his resignation.
I got to infer a stress of him from his expression because I could sum his face up when I watched him at first.
