This thread is for the students and graduates of Japanese top universities such as Keio and Waseda, but exclusive of MARCH and other equivalent ones. They show off their superb English skills here by debating in English about politics, international affairs, controversial issues, etc.
The number of posts in Japanese is to be counted and universities related are to be given minus points accordingly, so their English levels will be judged.
Notes: - Reveal your university name when posting - Put 'age' in the E-mail form or leave it blank (so that this thread won't easily go down because of the English-only rule)
Self-proclaimed 'winners', who insist are more talented, always make fun of MARCH students, but they are just overestimating themselves. They can't answer properly in English when asked difficult questions.
>>43 may be thinking he managed to answer to >>42 safely but actually he only wrote very briefly without going into detail. He proved fatuous self-complacency of 'winners'.
>>40 Admitting own mistakes gives a good impression, but most of Waseda or Keio students hate it as they have false pride and are thinking admitting their own mistakes makes them losers. Poor boys... Be more relaxed. Assertive personality only makes life hard.
graduates of Japanese top universities such as Keio and Waseda, but exclusive of MARCH and other equivalent ones.
You shouled say japanese top 'private' universites or change the word 'keio and waseda' to imperial universities represented by todai and kyodai' and change the word 'MARCH' to 'Keio and Waseda' instead.
You must be an alumni or student of waseda or keio. Your English is not good and not easy to understand. That's not why your English is deep, but why your grammer and usage are low. You revealed waseda and keiko English level in >>1. The end.
>>55 I want to leave this issue to a native speaker. It's O.K. to use the phrase like alumni reunion which includes males and females. So I used the plural form. But I'm not sure alumni can be used for the person whose gender is unknown. I may have been wrong. Sorry, I just want to let off steam... I have to study more.
Still, to be honest, I feel >>1's English is crumsy. Not the thing someone should show off. >>1 appeared to be a big fish in a small pond. But I want to leave this to a native speaker too.
I think it's >>60's hatred against >>1 that has made >>60 think >>1's English is clumsy. >>1's English may not be completely acceptable, but what's wrong? All of us here are English learners and can make silly mistakes. It's nonsense for us to make fun of others of their English.
>>62 You may be right. But,,, don't words like superb make you feel embarrassed? In the first place, >>1's English is superb? Too narcissitic manner contrary to his English skill.
>>65 No. I don't think >>1 is thinking of his own English as superb. Have you not visited the MARCH thread in this board? MARCH students are always criticised there by Waseda and Keio students or alumni, so I guess >>1 created this thread to prove that even those from Waseda or Keio haven't good skills of English by making them write something in English.
>>66 I agree. Why does >>1 want to give minus points to those who post in Japanese? It is because he wants to make a fool of Waseda and Keio. It's obvious that >>1 is a MARCH student/graduate.
This thread is for the students and the graduates from the top universities in Japan (such as Keio and Waseda) but exclusive to MARCH and the like. We will show off our superb English skills here by debating in English about politics, international affairs, controversial issues, etc.
Your English level will be assessed as the posts written by each school will be counted and those written in Japanese will be given minus points accordingly. (? I don't understand here.)
>>79 I agree with you . I recognize >>1,>>78 as an idiot. >>78 ,please show us your English skill . If you should be good English speaker , you can do it.
I am a university student. The university is not famous and in fact it is third class. So I always feel agony whenever I am asked about my academic record. Sometimes it is better for me to answer the question "I am neet." Because clever people like>>1(especially keio and waseda) would ignore me at that time. Although I answerd it honestly, those clever people sneer at me. In addition they want to show off their English skill without asking. But I met real clever people who are students of Tokyo university. They wouldn't show off their any skills and do nothing like >>1 who love to show off not only them but also his academic record. Then I understood what the first class means.
>>97 Nope! Some students studying at Todai behave like the ones you mentioned but others always try to win over others by showing off their knowledge. It's also true of Waseda and Keio students.
This thread is for the students and the graduates from the top universities in Japan (such as Keio and Waseda) but excluding MARCH and the like. You will show off your superb English skills here by debating in English about politics, international affairs, controversial issues, etc.
The number of posts written in Japanese will be given minus points and the points will be counted according to the universities they are from, so their English levels will be judged.
If he does not work, that is, could not work for any firm, and became a NEET, it is invain to have made his effort to be a student of those famous universities,
>>115 heyhey u did wanna mean those who did "LOSE"? or just people who are "LOOSE"? there are reeealy big difference u know? C'MON u wanted to insult>>114?lol
seriously...i dont think all of them here are from SOKEI class univ... cus their english is totally slangish, just like learned from actual conversation. (some of them seem to be really from SOKEI thou...)
my friend goes to gakushuin. and she is mentally ill. she recently got a boyfriend. she flirts with him in front of me, and perhaps, feels superior to me by doing that.
by the way, which is the real "loser", me and this bitch?
(well i think i dont need to say that im in keio.)

This thread is kind of scary. I'm being perfectly serious. I've been hanging out on English forums for a long time. If there were a forum for people learning Japanese, and some guy tried to sound all fluent but actually mangled a few sentences, four or five people would point and laugh. Maybe one nice person would point out his mistakes. Another two or three would insult him and call him an idiot or something. And then we'd all move on. The way you guys pounce on people like this and just keep talking and talking about him, and analyze every line he writes for like 200 posts... your guys' group mentality is fucking scary.
>>377 There's a bunch of threads I check semi-regularly. Especially the ones where you guys gang up on someone and insult the shit out of them. Those are pretty fun to read...
>>344の最大の勘違いは、ここで1対10のケンカが行われてて、1人がいじめられていると考えたところだろう。 実際には1対3か2対3〜5ぐらいのケンカ、というか「売り言葉に買い言葉」のツッコミ合いをやってたんだろう。 There was no such thing as group mentality going on here.
I've quickly read through this thread, and I'd like to point out one thing if it's ok with you guys. I reckon you people are being paranoid about English. One thing we must remember is that English is a LANGUAGE. It's just a tool or method of communicating with whoever understands it. It's not important how accurate your grammer is or how clever you can look in words. The thing we must focus before the whole fuss is that how much you can express yourself in English. That's the real quality I believe. Make as many mistakes as you want as long as you are convincing. Use as many slang as you like, but could you possibly try to be comprehensible and articulate. It is merely sad watching smart people neglecting the real point of languages.
>>403 I'm not missing the point. They started it. All they can do is laugh at correct English and hide. You are right you are talking to scary paranoid freaks.
English is the most important academic subject to go to college for JP. So that's why they are suffering from severe paranoid about the language.
You JP think you can read but cannot write like me, which makes you humiliating, right? Outside, you are one of the disgustingly snooty students but you don't look an intelligent human being here in English. Only one thing left for you is to insult in the only language you know.
>Look, one thing I'd like to say. This isn't wrong but sounds weird. We'd say something like, "Look, (there's) just one thing I'd like to say." or "Look, I just want to say one thing."
>English is the most important academic subject to go to college for JP. This is awkward and I'm not sure what you mean. It's either "English is the most important (academic) subject for Japanese college students." or "Studying English is the most important reason to go to college for Japanese students."
And what the hell is up with "JP"? No one writes "Japanese" like that.
>So that's why they are suffering from severe paranoid about the language. Contract "they are", "they're" sounds way more natural. And you meant paranoia, not paranoid.
>You JP think you can read but cannot write like me, which makes you humiliating, right? Use "not" there instead of "cannot". "which makes you humiliating" is wrong, it's gotta be like "which humiliates you" or "which you think is humiliating" or something like that.
>Outside, you are one of the disgustingly snooty students but you don't look an intelligent human being here in English. Wow. No one uses the word snooty seriously anymore. I'm not exactly sure what you meant but I'm thinking something like this: You act like arrogant elitists out there, but you're not fooling anybody here with your shitty English.
>Only one thing left for you is to insult in the only language you know. The most natural way of saying this is probably: "So all you can do is bitch in the one language you know." or "You can't do anything but talk shit in the one language you know."
>This is what I think That's what I think.
Just saying man, don't try to trash talk like this in English, because you can't. You just look stupid. It'd be like me trying to brag in Japanese about how great my Japanese is, and making an ass of myself.
>>426 I thought he was Japanese, but he doesn't seem to know Japanese education system very much. He overcorrected the English.
>"English is the most important (academic) subject for Japanese college students." >"Studying English is the most important reason to go to college for Japanese students."
Those are not true in Japan. You just had to read as was written.
>>436 I think he wanted to say, "English is one of the most important (academic) subjects." He's likely to know Japanese education system, but seems to have failed to describe it correctly in English.
It does not matter much wheter he or she should be a Japanese or not. Regardless of the person’s nationality, I grade his( or her) English as lower-middle.
I think it's natural for human being to pounce on a person who can't write/speak well. No one even a good speaker of English like >>423 is free from the rule. Last 50 posts in this thread is a good specimen.
English is the most important subject for Japanese high school students. That's why they're suffering from severe paranoia about the language.
You Japanese think you can read but not write like me, which you think is humiliating, right? You act like arrogant elitists out there, but you're not fooling anybody here with your shitty English. You can't do anything but talk shit in the one language you know.
>>507 I think I get what he's trying to say... assuming he meant "proper canon," which still sounds strange. It's pretty good English, just a bit awkward.
English is the most important subject for Japanese college entrance exams. And the bad memory about the language haunts you even long after the exam.
You think you're a top student but can write no better than me, which humiliates you, right? You may be stuck up out there, but you can't fool nobody here with your poor English. You can do nothing but belittle a person smarter than you in the only language you know.
That's what I thought. Do you understand my English?
>>429 This is >>425. I don't understand what you say very much. I think >>418 is tryna say top students hold ordinary students in contempt but the pecking order doesn't work here and he's gratified with it cuz he can speak insultingly of the top at least "in English". The hierarchy does not function when it comes to English, thus "he is shedding light". Personally, I feel for him cuz I'm from low-level university, so...
>Only after 10 years Rom,pollishing English, yours may >be a meaningful opinion. Simply I mock you. >Is your affiliation March or something?

A friend of mine who studied engineering at Osaka University has extremely limited vocabulary of English. He says he wasn't required high English skills for entering the course, but he wishes he had a better command of English.
I think even those studying science and technology should have reasonable command of English so they can read and write research papers and make presentations at international academic conferences.
So what? I was surprised to see how terrible your English is, how fool you are. I'm afraid you can't beat me forever and ever as far as English concerned.

Hi. Can I join? I go to St. Thomas Univerisity in Hyogo pref. I'm taking human studies. And I really enjoy learning it. As for English, I came to like it when I started learning it at a junior high school. Since my major is not English, I have been learning it on my own. My university is not ranked on the top, but I like my university very much, and I made many great friends here. A university is the place for academics, and it definitely comes first, but I also think it's the place to meet many people and know each other and know people's values and ways of thinking. Through this process, we can expect ourselves to grow up significantly as a human. Looks like many people here are kind of "patriotic" to their universities, and so am I. It's very normal to get to like your university, but it isn't right to criticize other univs. Each university has its good and bad aspects.
>>59 I have never even heard of Saint Thomas University. What do people usually call your school in Japan?
Anyhow, while your point is well-taken, this isn't a place for such discussions. If you are happy where you are--Good for you. There is no need to come here and let us know that. This is a thread where people are discussing something else. Also, please know that there are some substantive differences in the quality not only of the instructions you receive but also of the statue of the professors you learn from as well as the nature of the peers you meet, depending on the university you attend. So, it is actually consequential where you go to school--beyond the brand-name-related concerns.
Thanks for visiting, anyhow, and have a nice life.
Somebody asked in the "スレッド立てるまでもない質問" thread about such a usage of the preposition "for" as in "Housing Market worst for 30 years" but there were no clear answers. Although Google shows both "for" and "in" are acceptable, there still is a question. Can these two be used indiscriminately? I'm looking forward to answers from you intelligent people.
Hello guys. This thread looks very interesting. Don't ask me about my university, because it's not so famous as yours, probably. But I thank the guy who made this thread, because I've long been searching for the place where I can discuss various issues with other people in English, especially English grammar or usage. Well, I've almost forgot to mention that I'm a teacher of English at a junior high school. I want to keep up my writing skills here. I've tried posting in English in other threads, but I found it was meaningless, or even offensive to those who don't understand English well. But here I can feel at ease writing anything I want to.
Sorry for telling you my boring story! Anyways, let me join in.
know の命令形はちょっとここでは奇異な感じがします。 know の命令形は使用法がかなり限られてない? Please be advised(be aware とか)の方が普通じゃないですか? それから substantialとかの方が良くない? statue はstatus のこと? consequential の後のwhere〜は×。 which school you belong to(go to/ attend) の方がいいと思います。 もし関係代名詞の処理に悩んだ場合は「So, the choice of school is important」とかにしてしまうのも一案かと。
>>605 I felt like criticising >>59 as you did, but stopped myself following >>403's advice. XD
>>604 Did you read through this thread? I don't think here's a nice place for you to enhance your writing skills, but you can keep posting here in English if you find it interesting.
>>622 How come you always go for -; ? Did you forget where you came from when you were born? Did you come from the other hole? Maybe that's why this thread stinks.
Last Saturday, one Japanese guy came up and spoke to me. "Excuse me, but could you please kindly tell me where the shitty hole is?" Right up in your ass, bitch!!
ex-boyfriend the other day. He has asked someone's help and advice, like me... Because he is really worried about his job these days. Such as he's thinking of going to quit his job and so on. To tell the truth, I broke up with him about 5 months ago. He's 5 years yonger than me. He graduated from university in Nagoya, and decided to start new job in Osaka last spring. After few months later, he got transferd to Nara. He was really busy from then on. (He is still busy now) He couldn't take a day off,and had to work overtime. So it was so hard to keep relations between him and me at that time. But we still keep in touch by e-mail once in a while.
I wish I could help his matter. But I couldn't advice to him easily... I hope to it turns out well!
I'm sorry for writing my poor English diary. Thank you for reading.
It is all right to misspell words here because of BB. We have to write words very quickly and cannot use spell-checkers, but people can understand what you write. Even native speakers misspell words very often.
>>665>>666 Thank you for your kindness. I'm not good at spelling English sentence. But I want to communicate with others in English. So I hope that I can make friends with you through using English.
We Japanese stopped objecting to Chinese'illegal rule in Tibet by the big earthquake that had occurred in Sichuan Province. But we never forget that a lot of people living in Tibet now suffered from Chinese violence. What do you think about these problems. please give me your opinion very soon.
I finally found the ideal thred. I`ve gratuated so-called first rate university, but I'm not good at using English. I want to be like you all. I'll do my best,
Thank you for your kindness. I'm not good at writing English. But I want to communicate with others in English. So I hope we can be friends through this language.
Japanese stopped denouncing Chinese' illegal ruling in Tibet because of the big earthquake which struck Sichuan Province. But we never forget that a lot of Tibetans are now suffering from Chinese violence. What do you think about the issue? Please give me your opinion right away.
Of course, the Chinese' illegal ruling in Tibet should be denounced, but,it's not the time to acuse them. It's the people who should be cared first, or else, sanctions like economical restriction may influence bitterly to the desperate people.
>>682 If we help the sufferers in Sichuan Province,we should tell them how the Chinese do harm to the Tibetan. If we do so,the information will soon spread over China because all Chinese eyes are focused on Sichuan Province now. I think that will lead all Chinese to stop ruling Tibet illegally. Write to me soon.
Tibet has been colonized by the Chinese government, so that means the Chinese' illegal ruling in Tibet is not an appropriate definition. I am not for the Chinese givernment, but it has been investing so much money in Tibet such as a railway and educational infrastructure even though many of the Han Chinese have immigrated into Tibe. What do you think of Hong Kong? If it had not been colonized by the Britishi, what would have happened to it? Therfore, colonization itself has the pros and cons. I think that the most important problem about Tibet seems to be human rights abuse and freedom of religion, but not something like economonal problems. In addition, I want to ask the people who blame the Chinese government for these problems if they have been to China and talked to the Chinese people. I have been living in Britain. However, I have ever lived in China and had some experience of communicating with the local Chinese people.

The most important thing now is the recovery of sufferers in Sichuan Province. The sufferers are dying one after another even in this moment. The chinese authority would decline such political activities. On top of that, there is no freedom of speech there. If you tell the truth about the Tibet, you shall be arrested by the KOAN police soon.
Hello, can I join? I don't know how you call the Chinese ruling "illegal". The authorities were just doing what they should do. If you were the head of authorities, and the violence had happened in your town, I believe you would have taken the same action towards the looters.
You haven't doubted the credibility of your media's reports, have you? I mean, have you ever visited Chinese before? China always was a peace-loving country. That's why it's willing to hold the Olympic games.
Fitstly you said "You haven't doubted the credibility of your media's reports"
On the contrary,I've never believed in media, especially about China. Have you ever read "Mao: The Unknown Story"? The Chinese authority killed 7 million people, and this book was not allowed to published in China. Why? Because there is no freedom of publishing there.
And I wrote "If you tell the truth about the Tibet, you shall be arrested ". No violence, no looters at all. Indeed ,I said "political activities", but it meant "tell them how the Chinese do harm to the Tibetan" :as 684 said.
Lastly, holding the Olympic games doesn't mean that the host country is a peace-loving one. Please remember "The Nazis Olympic"
>>691 No I haven't read the book before. You just believe in the media that you want to believe. Even if China has lesser freedom of press, it doesn't prove what you believe is right one, there's a crackdown or healthy-minded Tibetans unlike Chinese.
What I mean is, have you ever considered learning Chinese language? Have you traveled China? It is not a matter of logic, but likes and dislikes. Which side will win is desided in the first place before the race begins. Please remember the fact that the Japanese Ministry checks your textbook before you read.
I don't think that people should stereotype China and the Chinese people from their own cultural point of view because China is completely different from the Western civilization. Westerners think that China is still a horrble place at present. However, China and the Chinese people enjoy the happiest period in the 2000s. All of you should study the history of China in which too many people have died by natural disasters, famine and wars. Therefore, even though so many people have died by a powerful earthquake in in Sichuan province, it doesn't matter in China. Do you know how many people were killed in the Cultural Revolution? It must be at least forty millions people were killed, but it is not a so big problem. Therefore, you should not estimate human rights and freedom of speech because they are not so good for the Chinese society. These rights and freedom will cause a lot of problems in China, which might kill so many people. Province
I've read every comment about China. But the given theme by 680 is "How we think about stopping denouncing Chinese' illegal ruling in Tibet because of the big earthquake in Sichuan Province".
I think all comments are beating around the bush and don't respond to the theme directly. Let's not sidetracked.
>>685 I guess you are a British and a Christian because you write to me from Britain. So I quote from the Bible. Matthew4.4 Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God. To the Tibetan the Dalai Lama is equal to Jesus. He has been living in exile. However rich the Tibetan may become by Chinese economic aid, they never be happy without living with him in Tibet. So I think the Chinese must stop ruling Tibet at once and let the Dalai Lama come back to his country.
Tibet should be independent from China. It won't make any difference if it's not a territory of the country. Looking at the map, I covered the Tibet autonomous region by the hand, I thought nobody would notice if China shrunk or not.
I want to tell all Christians living all around the world my opinion. please read carefully. I quote from the Bible for Christians. Matthew4.4 Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God. The Dalai Lama has been living in exile for along time. The Dalai Lama is to the Tibetan what Jesus is to Christians. However rich the Tibetan may become by Chinese economic assistance, The Tibetan never be happy if they can't live together with The Dalai Lama in Tibet. So the Chinese must stop their illegal rule immediately and let the the Dalai Lama come back to his country.
>>710 Yes,it is. I quoted from St.Matthew'Gospel,Chapter4,Verse4. "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth ofGod." What I wanted to say is as follows. "The Tibetan shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Dalai Lama."
So many great hours have spent for discussing which universiy is better, and everyone agrees that the University of Tokyo is the best. Why don't they proceed further to talk which faculty is the best among the UOT?
I was graduate from a very famous university, though I don't know my university is classified as a first-class university or a second-class one. Anyway, I did not study English there. I studied my English in my high-school days, in a very local and rural town located in Tohoku area. My high school is the best high school in my prefecture. I was good at writing and speaking Englsih at my hish school. So I think my English skill is as good as those of Wasedas and Keios, I might say.
>>726 yeah youre right. in tohoku area where 718 lives, they believe former prime minister abe graduated from sokei. they dont know seikei and do believe theres a university named sokei. do you want to know why?
Let me hear your voice. Do you know what's behind the Akiba rampage spree? I know "interesting" is not an appropriate word, however, this news really makes me think so deep.
I feel sorry for him because he has a miserable background. He had no job, no friend or girlfriend, no love from family. He should not be reckoned as just another insane guy, What do you think?
Moriyama Mayumi and her jolly fellows seem to design to intervene any obscene Animes or games in Japan. That incident possibly could accelerate anti-porn tendency. But the House of Councillors has been eventually closed. Amendment of the law is already impossible. Their plot fell through for the time being. lolololol
>>729 I don't say he must be justified, but we must consider the circumstances. He had been outcast wherever he goes, and everyone thinks it's all your fault if you cannot find a proper job, but it reminds me of Marie Antoinette's saying, "if you don't have bread to eat, then eat candy".
In reality, hard-working does not always guarantee money, and yet there is not sufficient safety net for the poor but prejudice, so it seems natural to me that he held grudge against the society.
It's us who created this fucking wretched society. Akiba will now be going to close its vehicle-free promenade, and dagger blade makers stop manufacturing the knives, but it's not a critical remedy for the problem. It's about our system.
Indeed, it's natural for him to hold grudge against the society, and I can feel sorry about it to some extent. But the crime he committed was extremely huge and unforgivable. And there are many people who work under poor circumstances like his.
On top of that, he had graduated the highest school in his district. His ability for work seem enough. In the long run, this fatal incident was brought by his own evil character, and not us who created this society, I assume.
>>734-735 I'm grateful for you showed a mercy for him to some extent.
>there are many people who work under poor circumstances like his. I know that life in Japan 50 years ago was even poorer than them, but one does not feel alone when everyone is poor. Temp workers are not only exploited but despised, isolated. There're latent candidates lining up after him, like he said.
I feel it's too cruel to attribute this incident to him alone. The number of victim is eight. It's his family that loaded a bullet, society that pulled the trigger.
Now I am watching CNNj. The topic now on is world untold story. Now the story is about nigerian girl arrested at an airport. Some female reporter went to a prizon to interview her. The reporter said that it was her "regular visit", and the theme seems to be a prostitution, though I cannot fully understand well because the narration sometimes goes in Italian, and the nigerian english is sometimes difficult to understand.
In the criminal law, the basic concept of the responsibility lies in one's free intention. The criminals are accused because they have evil intention that make them select the illegal conducts.
The Akiba murderer seems to have normal consciousness, and so, he must have full-fledgd free intention. In a nutshell, it's he himself that loaded a bullet, and pulled the trigger.
We shouldn't pass on the responsibility to our society. The main cause of the Akiba rampage spree is his irrational belief and distorted recognition around his situation,
Hi! Here comes Japanese joke.Try the following sentence into Japanese!"My father is my mother!"わたしの父は〜わがままです。ち〜なみに〜おいらの好きな言葉は〜Bigger the cussion,Better the pussing.Tittie Twister=おっぱいグルグル
Spectators at the site of Akiba kill were taking photos without helping victims, the scene was scary, but I guess those who killed would have done the same thing if they were alive.
It is as if an ugly-minded person killed ugly-minded people. Tomohiro Kato, the killer, was right about the target, I think.
Indeed, there are some people taking pictures around the victims at the site, but, so many people were helping the victims conscientiously. They should be admired.
>>742 You may be right in that you guess the victims might have done the same thing as the witnesses did, but the difference between you and me is that I mourn the losses and don't defend the criminal. I don't think there's any reason for the criminal to be defended, at least outside the court.
most paople in Japan are kind at first sight but, in fact, what they think of is only the way they prevent themselves from others whenever they are asked something, for example a crime, they only make commoplace remarks this fact suggest that the common people don't have own opinion in other words, they don't reflect anything at all
so, judges should not take a national sentiment into consideration judges should bear in mind that the common people are too ignorant to say anything
They say the murderer Kato was totally isolated, and the situation made him go mad. But it's nothing more than a self-centered excuse. Everybody is inevitably alone. We must stand the fate.
>>747 He was always trying not to be too friendly with others to avoid exposing his true nature, which I think made him feel even more that he was isolated. He has no one but himself to blame.
the crime kato ccommitted in Akiba is very evil and could not allowed however we have no right to give death penalty to him if you hope for death penalty, you are not different from murder, no matter how many grude you have retaliation could not be admitted, regardless of any reason
to kill the criminal in prison is as cruel as to do people in road there is no difference between kato and you if you kill the one can I stab you if you stab me?
>>744 You must be living a happy life, with lots of love from many people.
What would you say if there's an endangered animal chased away from its habitat, and the beast is going to be annihilated because of biting a human?
The Akiba killer was not treated as human being at work, at school, in family. If you were treated as a disposable thing, you sure would feel anyone in this society is your enemy, anybody is OK to murder.
>>753 No! He wasn't treated that way, but he thought he was.
You seem to sympathise with the murderer. Are you in the same situation as his? Do you think his crime is justified just because he was treated like a dog (or he thought he was)? If you feel like committing the similar crime or have a plan, you'll be interviewed by the police.
The murderer Kato may have been isolated, and felt himself as an annihilating animal. But, even so, he could have had normal consciousness, moral, common sense. He is a human, not animal. He shouldn't have done such a inhumane conduct.
Especially young generation, they're lacking brain control of frontal cortex(前頭葉). The reason is clear. Games, visual information flood and cell phone mail deprive the chance of training their brain power. They should get more direct experience to meet and talk with actual people. They should read more books and use their imagination.
Our brain don't need to use imagination with too many strong visual information. They only respond whey doing video games. Cell phone mail requires young people short and stereotype sentence.
Thus their brain power become weaker and weaker. Japanese government must make new lows to save brains of young generation.
>>760That's stupid. You cannot reach the conclusion by logic that murder is wrong. It's only A wisdom which was gained through experiences and is not THE answer. What makes you think that a murder by a nation is right, and by an individual is not? Kato could be as logical as you are, you could be as wrong as Kato. Brain training is no use.
I think death penalty's concept consists of idea of retaliation the victim's family think that they should revenge themselves on the murder because their relateves were killed
this way of thinking is dangerous because it justifies retaliation according to this philosophy, if one have been treated badly by people around him and despairs of society he is able to have a right to revenge oneself on hateful enermies
>>761 You're crazy. You're tipical thpse who can't control your brain. You have no common sense to conduct a debate. If Kato had havitude to train his brain, he could have find many solution to analyze his problem.
Unfortunately, you also have no havitude to train your brain like him.
I hear that western people are selfish and doesn't admit their fault at all however in my 19 years life, I've never seen such a bad man or woman in Japan western professors at my college are very kind and nice men witout exception they are not different from ordinary Japanese please show me how hauty they are, if they are truly so
yeah, come to think of it, there's no good and evil in nature. i watch programs on african animals everyday, they kill other weak or crippled for no reason. human rights are just an invention spawned out of our brain, right? thus we can't find the stuff in the textbook of physics science since becoz this is not the absolute truth
The Akiba rampage spree was reported all over the world. The myth that Japanese public peace has been extinguished. The tourist industry will be suffered from the cruel incident. I'm so sorry about that.
I've heard about the crazy men who are praising Kato. And they picture Kato as God. They may feel some kind of catharsis. I can not understand The Japanese any more.
>>777 this fact suggest that there are lot of people who envy the happy one of the reason they praise kato is that they feel that they could revenge happpy men or women they must regard their life as boreing and hopeless
777 doesn't know a life harsher than death you could be a devil if you had bullied separated and deprived korean are lucky they can stage a demonstration to change the world but japanese are a bunch of sickening faggots they just sit and ignore things until someone blows ones top really crazily and runs over or stabs pedestrians maybe 7 is not enough to wake up japanese here comes another kato next time either you or i could be killed The time is ticking.
I'm a fucking poor weirdo who has miserable educational background, and I want you to turn your back on me as you are too good to be my delusive girlfriend.
The biggest problem exists in Japanese egalitarianism. So we Japanese soon compare ourselves to others and feel "Oh I win!" "Oh I lose" Envy comes from this.
In a word, we Japanese should have strong self identity and our own value. To achieve this, Japanese education and value must be changed.
ex-boyfriend the other day.
Thank you for reading.
some Europeans say that killing whales shold be forbidden one reason is that whales are mamal as human and very intelligent it seems that they can communicate with each other by their unique means
as for me, I can approve of their statement to some degree because I hear that the way killing whales is very cruel if we cannot avoid killing such way, we should not kill them,I think
>>787 it's OK coz a whale is an animal. in your logic, we must stop eating mammal meat. the korean eat cute dog meat too. nazi treated jew as an animal so it must have been destroyed.
>>763 I'm afraid I can't agree with you. You think you are sane? Did you know Hitler was elected by democracy?
German were not crazy, they were normal like anyone else today. The thing is, they'd been severely suffered from Great Depression. Same thing happened on Kato. That's it.
Like said above, you could be as cruel as Big Kato. You don't understand because you don't know what real hopelessness is. You think you do. In the depth of despair, even a smartest person goes out of logic. Happy people don't recognize the gravity of unhappiness of some people.
Did you get my idea? I hope so. We learn from history that we don't learn from history. Do you?
Editorial Reviews From Publishers Weekly Anyone worried about American society's decay need only let this book fall open to the story about a supposed trend among Japanese mothers who have sex with their sons "to keep [the boys'] minds from wandering" while cramming for entrance exams (it isn't clear whether for college or high school).
Kato denied to communicate with others and devoted himself to the PC game, called RPG battle game. In this kind of game, one of the typical method is that the character runs over the enemies by a car to kill them ,and next, stabs the enemies around there with knife. It is almost the same way Kato did. On top of that, the knife he used was the same item used in the game.
They say the game will destroy the human mind and sack the feeling for the reality. He must have lost the normal mind, and may be one of the victim of the RPG game in that sense.
small question... I am a white teenager girl, and i always liked Japanese guys, but i also see that it's rare for a Japanese guy to date a white girl,i see more japanese girls date white guys... I look very different from a japanese girl : i have blonde hair, i have very white skin color,i'm little taller then japanese girls are... And as i saw japanese guys prefer girls who act like them, little shy, polite and you get it(i hope...) Well everyone always said to me that i act like a japanese girl..i know japanese,i know japanese culture well,i have japanese friends ...and my friend(japanese friend) once told me that if i wasen't looking so different in the look, nobody would ever guess i'm not japanese. Right now i'm not living in japan, but i'v been there and i think of going to live there for long time(lifetime), i want to have a japanese boyfriend but i think that it doesn't matter how japanese do i act or that i know japanese, i think japanese guys are gonna be kind of scared of me,and won't even try to know me just because of my look ...i know it's a kind of weird question and nobody might know, but is there any chance i will be treated as japanese just because i am who i am and not because of how i look like? by nikki 2008/6/24
>>808 i think your opinion is somehow wrong ,kind of misunderstanding. All i want to say to you is that if you were my girl , i would't break your heart , absolutely .
>>805 Video games did not drove him crazy, I suppose. I guess he thought the more cruel and stupider the way he kill, the more effective and appealing.
It's a pity to think that some 30,000 people commit suicide each year but they do not change anything at all. They just silently disappear from the world. We should not forget the fact that Kato broke through an atmosphere of this nation by himself.
It would be sad if he had killed persons as poor as, or poorer than him. But who knows? If I were a victim, I don't know which is sadder to be killed at the depth of sadness or the top of happiness.
>>787 >Some Europeans say whale hunting shold be forbidden because >whales are so intelligent that they can communicate with each other.
In their context, killing unintelligent animal is fine. Unlike in Japan, organ transeplant from a brain dead baby is unforbidden in the States. This is how Europian thinks.
So here is a question to you: Which is more cruel to kill? intelligent mammals? or unintelligent humans?
>>817 what I want to say by using “inteligence”is that all animals which have high evolved brain ,such as whale, dog cat, horce, cow..., can feel terror and despair if they are killed in cruel way. (of cause, it is not forgiven to kill low creature in such cruel way) so, when we have to kill creatures, we should kill them without making them seriously seffering.
>So here is a question to you: Which is more cruel to kill? intelligent mammals? or unintelligent humans?
no matter how unintelligent a certain people are, and even if they they have a handicap in brain, they can feel pleasure and sadness as other normal people. so, killing either of them is equally cruel
why did this white chick write such random personal episodes and nobody gives shit on her?? i reckon SHE is the GTFO one. prestageous/high class/top universities or whatsoever,i dont give a fuk.
That's an important issue. What do I think? We can't help choosing as we go on living. People who chose to support coral reaf chose not to support hungry children. For some people, wild animals are more important than humans. You cannot call them cruel. To choose something means to ignore others. You kill many other lives everyday for your life sake. You chose to live means you chose to kill. You can't keep turning away from this issue unless you remain hypocrat.
>>824 yes, you are right all of us have more or less commmitted sin without exception I think the most important thing is to admite the fact nobody can refuse the fact that they are hypocrites
>>825To say the least of it, I'm not the hypocrite. Your opinion is meaningless entirely. You must reconsider about your opinion. I've fogotten the mention that I'm not 824 .
>Which is more cruel to kill, intelligent mammals or unintelligent humans? ->In the Europian context, killing unintelligent animal is fine. Unlike in Japan, organ transeplant from a brain dead baby is unforbidden in the States. ->You cannot reach the conclusion by logic that murdering is wrong.
->no matter how unintelligent a certain people are, and even if they have a handicap in the brain, eihter killing is equally cruel. ->You can't keep turning away from this fact unless you remain hypocrat. ->You(->821)'re tipical those who have no havitude to train your own brain.
what a lowest-level thread! im amazing about your english you are just only using english its too bad become english fusion with english after, the road will open the lord said like that you are just sap at present polish your brain see ya
I am now watching a news about Nelson Mandela's 90 years' birthday. He had been in prison for 27 years before he was released in 1992. South Africa has been democratized these days, but now, in Zimbabwe, the neighboring country, are in crisis because of the President Mugabe's faked election. I would like to talk about the Mandela's achievements and Mugabe's problems. Let's start.
>>836 Just trying to give you some constructive critiscm 90 years should be 90th. he had been should be he has been. (been is already past tense) there too many commas in "...these days, but now, in Zimbabwe, the neighboring country, .." Remember, each time there's a comma, you have to pause while speaking. It would sound weird pausing 4 times during that sentence. You can use "...these days, but now in the neighboring country Zimbabwe, ..." are in crisis should be is in crisis. (are is plural, you're only talking about one country) You don't need the word 'the' before President Mugabe.
Just trying to give →Just give you "I tried to give you some advices" indicates "I gave you some advices but in vain". It means you failed to give some constructive critisisms, so you should delete "trying".
>>840 'Just trying' does not always mean it will be in vain, and that it will fail. 'Just give you' is not correct either. "Just giving you some constructive critisicm" would be okay as well. Also criticism can be singular and plural. Just like advice can be singular or plural as well, thus no need for the s at the end of advice.
I don't want to get caught up with semantics, but the murderer Kato didn't brake through an atomosphere of this nation at all, he has just shocked this nation.
Kato denied to communicate with others and devoted himself to the PC game, called RPG. In this kind of game, one of the typical method is that the character runs over the enemies by a car to kill them, and next stabs the enemies around there with knife. It is almost the same way Kato did. On top of that, the knife he used was the very same item used in the game.
They say the game will destroy the human mind and sack the feeling for the reality. He must have lost the normal mind, and may be one of the victim of the RPG in that sense.
>>844 I'm not 843. it is not relevant to the issue. this is the problem of possibility. if one-hundred people(especailly children) play the cruel game, two or three may feel killing is not something specail and come to think little of the volue of life. at least, some of them don't care if they kill animals. I think such kind of games have a bad influence on people.
I agree with ya. Prohibit One Piece, Vagabond, Bleach, and all bloody cartoons. Pokemon is toying animals. One Piece is promoting smoking, having Sanji smoke a lot. We cannot stop kids from smoking.
>>843 I disagree. Those games teach you how life is important for us. We have to communicate better with our friends in order to clear a game. I've learnt everything important in life from video games.
I think playing such games that contain cruel scene decrease the sense of feeling others pain. Of cause, it doesn't rifer to all of people who play that kind of game.
>>850 No, such games foster the sense of sympathy toward the injured. Being ignorant to cruel sights does not assure you'll be tactful at an accident site.
Hi students Japanese students have to begin job-hunting in the third grade...... I don't think it is a good idea! Japanese companies interfere our study (-_-). We shouldn't go on like this.
>>858 I'm not 857, but... I suppose you are laughing because you think "third grade" only means third grade in the elementary school. In British English, however, third year college students are often called "third grade" as well.
whatever. but its obvious that he>>857 didnt know it. the word "interfere" he is using kinda stucks in my mind. doesnt seem much an appropriate word in the sense.
yall aint taking shit. just living in a bunch of complex and shit. the ones who saying Jap, you bitch ass punk. ill cut ya dick off and sticking it around the wall!!!!
>>872 Because this thread is for English learners, you might as well try to write proper English. I think using slang isn't cool; non-native speakers who try to use it won't become a master of the English language.
Sweet christ! English vocabulary really isn't that difficult. WTH is wrong with you people? Most of you can't even string a proper sentence together. Where are you learning English, anyway? No, no, don't tell me. Eikawa school, right? HAHAHAHAHAHA Please do us all a favor and stay in Japan, don't force your pathetic English skills on Americans, please.
^^ also what's the fucking point of learning english if no one can understand you? Also you Japanese people have horrible pronunciation. It's not ENGLISH for you guys, it's more like ENGRISH, OH HARRO WE ARR ROOK SAME! Westerns laugh at your pathetic attempt to learn english btw.
