In recent years “globalization” has become a key word in the business world. We often think of globalization as a tendency that is making conditions similar worldwide. But actually it involves two rather different processes. On the one hand, globalization encourages an increasing unity among economic systems. But on the other hand, it requires us to work with a greater understanding of the diversity among cultural systems. Today we live in a multicultural world where the mixture of various cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds affects everything we do. An understanding of these two ideas of economic unity and cultural diversity is essential if we are to succeed in business, and as world citizens.
Increasingly, doing business in globalized world requires businesspeople to deal with foreign customs, manners, and business practice. Although economic systems throughout the world are tending toward the capitalist model, local business practices remain varied. A successful businessperson must both understand and respect the local customs of places where he or she is doing business. It is often a surprise to find out how different foreign practices can be. The proper manners for doing business in, for example, in the US, France, Nigeria, Russia, Canada, Brazil, Iceland – or any other country – are likely to be quite different.
Cultures are shaped over thousands of years and are based on local features such as geography, climate, religion, music, and legal systems. Cultures usually evolve quite slowly, and people usually dislike it when businesspeople from other countries ignore their local customs or try to make them change their culture. Economic systems can sometimes change more quickly – as happened in the change from communism to capitalism after the breakup of the Soviet Union – yet business customs remain rooted in local culture. In the future, the business world will require us to have greater abilities in foreign languages and in cultural understanding. Thus we can think of international business as a king of art – one which brings together economics, culture and people.

Eric Clapton,Paul McCartney, and Michael Douglas prove that women do not mind hitching themselves to drastically older men. Stephen a zoologist at the University of Toronto, has developed an evolutionary model that makes this behavior easier to understand:it is not just about money, but it is not just about genes either. The prevailing biological theoryfor matches between younger women and older men is that mature males have proved the superior fitness of their DNA by the (A) fact that they are still around. Using game theory and computer modeling, Proulx argues instead that age-divergent coupling is rooted in appearance. Nearly every animal uses some form of signaling display, such as a peacock's plumage or a buck's antler battles. Such displays cost the animal a lot of energy, and become increasingly hard to maintain with age, so a good display by an elderly male is a (B) indicator of genetic quality than a comparable show by a younger, stronger one. In human terms, an older man flaunting (C) is more persuasive to a potential mate than a young man making a similar display. The show of wealth tends to reflect the fitness over time of the older man;from a young upstart, it might mean he has traded long-term for short-term success. “It loosely translates to a young guy not blowing his precious savings on a sports car, while a 65-year-old figures, ‘What the hell,’” ‘Proulx say. I call it the revenge of the Nerds' effect.

Funnily enough while we were in Australia we met some Japanese students (from Yokohama)who were having one last holiday before they had to start their new jobs at the beginning of April. They were coming to the end of their stay in Australia and had been having a wonderful time, but they seemed sad that they were having to go home and 'grow up'! And get real jobs. It's a scary thing realising that you can't travel or be young forever! We will be back in England in about 5 months and we no longer have a home or any jobs. But on the positive side we do have furniture and a lot of happy memories!
「」部をお願いします。 We ran through the dark towards the place where the cries had come from. We reached a rocky edge from which a steep side fell away. Below us we saw the body of a man. 「He was lying with his face down on the ground. He had fallen on his head, which was bent under him, and his neck was broken.」 Holmes lit a match. We saw with horror the blood running out onto the ground from his head.

The consequences of entering on significant scale -entering rapidly- are associated with the value of the resulting strategic commitments. A strategic commitment has a long-term impact and is difficult to reverse. Deciding to enter a foreign market on a significant scale is a major strategic commitment.Strategic commitments, such as rapid large-scale market entry, can have an important influence on the nature of competition in a market. For example,by entering the U.S.financial services market on a significant scale,ING has signaled its commitment to the market(see the Management Focus). This will have several effects. On the positive side,it will make it easier for the company to attract customers and distributors reasons for believing that ING will remain in the market for long run.The scale of entry may also give other foreign institutions considering entry into the United States, but also against an aggressive and successful European institutions. On the negative side,by committing itself heavily to the United States,ING may have fewer resources available to support expansion in other desirable markets, such as Japan. The commitment to the United States limits the company's strategic flexibility.
I had been looking at the Mappa Mundi, with its rivers out of Paradise, and at the chained library, where a party of clergymen had got in easily, but where I had waited an hour and cajoled a verger before I even saw the chains.
the Mappa Mundiとは世界地図という意味らしいです。 どなたかお願いします。どういう構文なのかってのも教えてもらえると嬉しいです。

The cherry blossoms are very famous and well known in Germany and in fact we wanted to come to see them this year but failed. Obviously it is difficult anyway to hit exactly the right week when you have to fly in from Germany and have to book your flight in advance.
May be we use you as "Weather Forecast" next year to come on time to Japan.

It was her 21st birthday on the 25th of March for which we went on a trip to Morocco. The sahara desert is an extremely beautiful place, the night sky there is like something you can only imagine in your dreams. It is very humbling, the thought of all the other millions upon millions of stars that could possibly have similar life to ours orbiting around their own individual solar systems....We both enjoyed the trip throughly, i particulary enjoyed the scenery of all the bus rides we took through the Draa valley. I don't know (but i'm quite sure)if your familiar with the earlier Star Wars films, but the landscape is that which they used for Tatooine (Luke Skywalker's home planet) and with me being a huge fan of the films, this excited me greatly.
This is nothing. I live in Tokyo and I've seen some crazier things. I was in a restaurant last month that was thirty stories underground. It was called "bomb shelter" in Japanese. It was really weird.

It is currently popular to write as if those now immigrating to the United States are qualitatively different from any immigrants we have had previously and pose problems of a magnitude we have never before experienced.

The rift raft come over here and the hot non-Js don't come to Japan 'cuz they are set in a sweet life in their home countries. Can you disagree with me? I'm sure you will but deep down you know I am right.
Now,in an attempt to get people to watch less TV,a non-profit organization in the U.S.,called the TV Turn-off Network has made the last week of April"TV Turn-off Week."
They are inviting people worldwide to switch off their TV for seven days every year. The aim is to encourage people to watch less TV by showing them that life without it can be more fun, more rewarding, and more fulfilling.
"Watching TV steals your time and sucks your energy,"says Brian Chatham, one of the organisers of TV Turn-off Week."Our hope is that when people go back to watching TV after a week they'll be more selective."
In China the government is fighting to save a national treasure-the giant panda. The panda, one of the world's favorite wild animals and one of the rarest,is in great danger. Giant pandas live in the mountains of southwestern China. They live in thick forests of fir trees and bamboo,1,800 to 2,500 meters above sea level. The weather is cold and cloudy, and there is often heavy rain or snow.
Pandas eat flowers, grass and sometimes small animals and honey. But bamboo,a tall woody grass,is their favorite food. Three kinds of bamboo are strong enough to grow in the panda's farests, but these bamboos have a strange life-cycle. The plant grows for almost 100 years. Then suddenly it flowers, drops its seeds and dies. The seeds grow very slowly,so,for a long time, there is no bamboo. And all the bamboos in one place flower-and die-at the same time.
>>114 ありがとうございます。 forestの間違いでした。すみませんでした。 わがままですが、できれば続きもお願いします。 In ancient times bamboo forests covered much of China. When the bamboo died in one place, the pandas could move to another area for food. But people cut down the forests and the pandas had to climb higher into the mountains, into small 'islands' of bamboo forests. Now when the bamboo dies, there is nowhere for the pandas to go, so they too die. We know that 140 pandas died in 1975-1976 when the bamboo suddenly flowered. Experts think there are only 400-1,000 wild pandas alive today.
Professor Hu Chin Chu of Sichuan leads the Chinese team, and Dr.George Schaller of New York comes from the World Wildlife Fund. Together they are studying the wild pandas in Wolong Reserve. First they caught five pandas and put radio collars on them. These collars send out radio signals,so the scientists can follow the pandas and find the answers to many question. How far do pandas travel? Do they move with the seasons? How often do they rest? Do they sleep by day or by night? The scientists have learnt that pandas are rather quiet animals who like to live alone. And they have found nature in panda country cold and difficult.

I call these secular ethics, secular beliefs. There's no relationship with any particular religion. Even without religion, even as nonbelievers, we have the capacity to promote these things.
No, these are not necessarily Buddhist teachings. These are old teachings based on human values. The way of presentation is different according to each religion. In theistic religions, like Buddhism, Buddhist values are incorporated. In nontheistic religions, like some types of ancient Indian though, the law of karma applies. If you do something good, you get a good result. Now, what we need is a way to educate nonbelievers. These nonbelievers may be critical of all religions, but they should be decent at heart. The happiness and success of humanity depends on this.

Eye contact is a matter that many Japanese find particularly hard to adjust to in meeting foreigners. Many Japanese and other Oriental people find it not only uncomfortable, but even rude to look directly in another person's eyes as they talk. But most Western people feel that having at least some eye contact is essential for developing a feeling of trust in the strength and sincerity of the other person. Of course you don't need to stare hard into the other person's eyes, but making occasional eye contact is a good art to master. Hopefully your partner will also be sensitive to your country's customs and will not expect the same manners from you as in meeting someone from his or her own country.
Deciding how to act requires sensitivity to the other person - imagining his or her culture and personality. Above all, it takes practice to maker manners become more natural and seem like common sense. And even an occasional mistake in manners is all right. In fact, if you can admit and even laugh at your mistakes, it can often help establish greater sympathy and trust.
To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, The Northshore Concert Band from Illinois asked me to write a short opening piece for their gala concert in June 2006. Going back nearly two decades, each December I spend a couple of days in Chicago to attend the famed Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic. Besides all the hustle and bustle of that great event, there is always some spare time to go into town. Each year, my fascination for America's 3rd largest city grows. I enjoy the skyline with its dazzling architecture, riding The Loop (Chicago's idiosyncratic subway), shopping on The Magnificent Mile, The Art Institute, fabulous restaurants, a swinging night in a jazz club; I can't get enough.
There is, however, one drawback: The Wind…. When a blast of frigid air blows in from Lake Michigan, it is not fun for a European used to balmier breezes. In a very personal way I understand the aptness of the city's nickname.
The title came easy. The result is a short and energetic work, incorporating the spirit and the power of a city that never ceases to fascinate me.
I considered my future career options and entertained the idea of one day joining the United Natioms. Once I had been ignorant and did not know how to handle different opinions, but with Noran's help I had grown to accept people as they are. お願いします!
The past can be represented as a catalogue of random, arbitrary events, unconnected with each other or with the present, but this is rarely the case. On one hand, 'history' is a way of creating order out of the mass of evidence that is the past's legacy to the present. On the other, we all want to believe tha the world is getting better and better, and can become a more humane place. And this is why the belief that history must surely be a story of gradual yet sustained progress often still underlies discussions of the past.

Mrs Ewing's classification, though addressed to children, is a more elaborate version of Ruskin's. She identifies four types: those who 'like to have a garden ... and like to see it gay and tidy, but who don't know one flower from the next'; scientists 'acquainted with botany and learned in horticulture' for whom 'every garden is a botanical garden'; those who 'fully appreciate the beauty and scent of flowers' but 'who can't abide to handle a fork or meddle with mother earth'; and those who, like herself, 'love not only the lore of flowers, and the fragrance of them, and the growing of them, and the picking of them, and the arranging of them, but also inherit from Father Adam a natural relish for tilling the ground from whence they were taken and to which they return'.

Then came September 11, 2001. I knew somehow it would affect Noran. I e-mailed her, asking for her opinion on the situation and how Cairo was coping. I still remember her reply: her American pen friend and numerous others had deserted her. They didn't want to know her any more. Why? She was Muslim, Middle Eastern, and her last name was Hussein. I was very angry. I wanted to defend her. I couldn't believe that people could be so small-minded. Why couldn't they understand that Noran was just another 15-year-old girl? I didn't know what to tell her, except that I would never stop writing to her. Never. People often ask me if I'm scared to ask Noran about certain things, like wearing the veil. I'm not.
She was burning chaff in three big yellow separate heaps as he came across the field. A flame was darting up and along the blue-black edge of each heap like lamp-wick, leaving smoking ash behind. She stood leaning on the long white handle lf a hay-fork, arms firm and crooked, hands just below her chin, eyes rather low on the three smoking heaps, as if she was not really watching him at all. The wind was cold for October. It blew in sudden ugly gusts, switching smoke over grey-yellow stubble in blue flat clouls that turned back and bit each other like dogs at play. ‘Could you tell me which is Benacre ?‘ he said. Deliberately she drew the tines of the hay-fork down the curve of the nearest heap, dragging chaff into fire. From the fresh strip of hot ashes new smoke sprang out and was caught by wind and driven into his face as he stood there waiting for an answer.
『Goodwill may get suspended over temp staff violation』
1・Goodwill's parent company, Goodwill Group Inc., said the same day that it has been told that the Tokyo Labor Bureau wants it to explain what it was doing before handing down the punishment. The company has been told to submit an explanation by Jan. 8. 2・The group said it has been told that, under the ministry's plan, 89 of Goodwill's roughly 800 nationwide branches will be ordered to suspend operations for four months and that its remaining worker dispatch business will be suspended two months. 3・In a statement, Goodwill Group said it "deeply apologizes for causing trouble and concern among the related parties and shareholders." 4・Earlier this year, another temp staff agency, Fullcast Co., was ordered to temporarily suspend operations for dispatching workers to ports, where they are not allowed to work. Some believe Goodwill's case will call the entire temp staff industry into question.

In June, the group was forced to withdraw from the nursing-care business after the welfare ministry terminated the licenses of most of the nursing homes run by group company Comsn Inc., which was found to have made false declarations to authorities. 6・The illegal dispatches involving Goodwill came to light after a man in his 20s was injured in February while working under the instructions of a company other than the one that originally accepted the worker from Goodwill. 7・This case counts as a double violation under the temp worker dispatch law and the employment security law — the dispatching workers for port cargo operations and the redispatching of workers who have been dispatched by another company. A subsequent probe by the labor bureau has uncovered a number of other violations by Goodwill, according to the sources. 8・Earlier, in June 2005, the labor bureau ordered Goodwill to improve its business practices after it was found to have dispatched workers to the construction industry, another banned field. 9・In August, a group of temp workers sued Goodwill demanding it refund the wages that they were unreasonably deducted by the firm. 10・The temp staff business in Japan has rapidly expanded in recent years thanks to a government deregulation drive and is estimated to have a market of about \4 trillion.

Roadside bombs have claimed the lives of eight US soldiers in Iraq. Four troops were killed when an explosion struck their vehicle north of Baghdad, while an airman was killed by another roadside bomb in Tikrit. Two soldiers were killed and three wounded when their unit was struck by a roadside bomb in Baghdad. The death of an eighth soldier from a non-battle-related cause is under investigation.
Most of those respondents(89.7%)who returned their dog to the shelter did so because the animal exhibited behaviour that they considered undesirable. Male dogs showed more unacceptable behaviours than females, specifically inter-male aggression, sexual problems and straying tendencies. More stray dogs displayed undesirable behaviour than unwanteds, specifically straying tendencies. Puppies were less likely to exhibit unacceptable behaviours than juveniles or adults, particularly fearfulness, sexual problems and straying tendencies. More juvenile dogs showed excessive activity and excessive barking than puppies or adults. More adult dogs displayed aggression towards other dogs than juveniles or puppies. Findings indicate that dogs purchased from rescue shelters do exhibit behaviour problems that may lead to their return. The number of dogs admitted or returned to rescue shelters with behaviour problems may be reduced by raising public awareness regarding the value of behaviour therapy and introducing behaviour therapy schemes to rescue shelters.
A few months after the hearings ended TV finally became a truly national medium. The coast-to-coast coaxial cable was initiated on September 4 with Harry Truman's address to the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco. Nearly 90 percent of America's TV stations carried the same image at the same moment.

Have you ever heard of the 'Doream League'? It is the baseball league for physically vhallenged people in Japan. It is not as famous as the American major baseball leagues or the Japanese professional baseball leagues. At present there are about 800 players on 30 teams in the Dream League.
Look at the picture above of a man throwing a ball. He is a pitcher on the Nagoya Victory team. He plays with only one arm and can both eatch and throw the ball well. You see a man batting in ohe other picture. He plays on the Kobe Cosmos. He is a good batter as well as a fast runner. These pictures show that physically challenged people enjoy playing baseball.
The Kobe Cosmos is a team in the Dream League. Eleven former students from a school for physically challenged children formed the team about 30 years ago. They were encouraged to play baseball by Fukumoto Yutaka, a professional baseball player. He said, "When the rules make baseball difficult to play, why don't you change them to suit your ability?"
It was not easy for physically challenged people to make new rules. For example, they wondered whether a batter goes to first base if his crutch is hit by a pitch. They decided that he goes there because the crutch is regarded as a part of the batter's body. In this way, they made their own rules when they needed to do so. "The most important thing is that we enjoy playing baseball," said one of the players.
the man in the picture is a teacher for physically challenged chldren. He himself is physically challenged. He became a teacher after he found the joy of sports for himself in the Kobe Cosmos. His concern was what he could do for his students to enjoy sports. His students' worry was whether they could play well or not.
One day, he suggested that the students should play baseball in PE class. At first, they were not eager to follow his suggestion. But when the students heard that they could change the rules, they were sure that they could play baseball. According to their new rules, a batter can use a racket as a bat. A pitcher who cannot throw a ball all the way to the catcher can come closer. Now baseball has become their favorite sport.
A new young member joined the Kobe Cosmos in 2001. He had lost his left leg in a motorcycle accident. At first it seemed that the accident deprived him of his future. When he was in the hospital, however, he tyied to see the bright side of life. Just then, he happened to learn about the Kobe Cosmos on the Internet. He jpinted the team soon after he left the hospital.
Now his parents are glad to see him playing baseball. They say, "Befor he played baseball, he seemed to be always alone in his room with his video games. Thanks to baseball, he has found pleasure in playing a team sport."
Sports are activities physically challenged peiple can take part in. They have an important role in teaching fair play and teamwork. More than anything, sports show everyone how to enjoy life.

Do you remember? Months ago I mentioned some "important decisions for my life" on which I was pondering... Well, I've made the decision: I've separated from my husband. It was a hard, troubled, painful step. I left in october and I moved to Milan, where I'm living on my own now. I was hoping to recover little by little, but meanwhile the situation of Alitalia was getting worse and now my company is almost filing for bankruptcy; and my job is at risk, and this is terrible, because now that I'm alone and I have to live by my salary only, I really don't know what to do. I've finished my 13th contract ten days ago and I'm afraid I'll have to stay home without any job for quite a long period. I hope I'll be able to pay for my flat rent and for the bills with the unemployment benefit. I've sent an application to Lufthansa: I hope they'll recruit me, but I'm not sure.Last, but not least, my mom isn't feeling well in this period: she's just been in hospital and she has some problems of blood pressure, the origin of which is still unknown.

A quarter of an hour in Japan will convince you that you are among exquisitely well-mannered people. People who live on a hopelessly overcrowded island have to respect one another's privacy─or rather, would have to if they had any privacy. But they don't. So courtesy has a double function : it is courtesy and it is substitute privacy.
According to the wolf-effect theory, wolves keep elk numbers at a level that prevents them from gobbing up every young tree that pokes its head above ground . When the wolves were eliminated from the park, elk increased in number rapidly, cousuming the vegetation, stripping the Lamar Valley, and driving out other species. Without young trees in the area , beavers had little or no food and , indeedm they had been absent since at least the 1950s. Without beaver dams and the ponds they create, fewer succulents could survive. The plants are a critical food for grizzly bears when they emerge from hibernation. After the wolves' reintroduction in 1995 , researchers began to see not only a drop in the elk population but also various other changes.

Ireland as we know it today,is at a particular stage in its evolution. Onece, the whole island belonged to the native Irish people. Then Danes,Normans and Englsh colonised the country in succession. Early in the twentieth century, the Irish won back control from the Englsh of most of their country. This left the island partitioned into: the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland(the latter often referred to as Ulster). お願いします。
Framing Another way to think about metamessages is that they frame a conversation, much as a picture frame provides a context for the images in the picture. Metamassages let you know how to interpret what someone is saying by identifying the activity that is going on: Is this an argument or a chat? Is it helping, advising, or scolding? At the same time, they let you know what position the speaker is assuming in the activity, and what position you are being assigned.

Most prior research on the tendency for groups to be less cooperative than individuals (the interindividual – Intergroup discontinuity effect) has used the Prisoner’s Dilemma Game (PDG). Experiment 1 examined the discontinuity effect with 3 additional matrices: Chicken, Leader, and Battle of Sexes (BOS). Unlike the PDG, these matrices are characterized by correspondence of outcomes. The discountinuity effect was significant for the PDG and Chicken matrices only. With the BOS and Leader matrices, both individuals and groups pursued outcome maximization through coordinated turn talking. Despite the lesser competitiveness, sets of interacting participants in the BOS and Leader conditions did perceive that they were 2 groups. Experiment 2 examined the discontinuity effect in 2 Chicken matrices with varying outcomes associated with mutual competiton. Consistent with the doctrine of mutual assured destruction, the discontinuity effect was eliminated for the matrix in which mutual competition was associated with very low outcomes. Although concern for relative in – group standing gave rise to intergroup competition even in the domain of correspondent outcomes, such concern was constrained to extent that it interfered with outcome maximization.
In his poem 'The Colony, Hewitt says: 'this is our country also, nowhere else.' Perhaps these words of the planter poet express somehow the sense of ambivalence and resignation of the Protestant community in Northern Ireland. Still numerically the majority community, its members have nowhere else to go. They were created and sustained by the British goverment for centuries, and their ultimate destiny may be determined by political factors. さっきのあとのほうの文章なんですが訳、お願いします。

The pharmacist who provides pharmaceutical care must think in term of the patient's illness rather than the medically defined sickness condition. The patient's perception of illness in this sense can affect his or her attitude and behavior in relation to using medication. Consider that when a patient is receiving a prescription for an antibiotic , he or she is not just a case of "strep throat," but rather an individual who is experiencing discomfort swallowing, who has had to take the day off from work, and who wants some sympathy from family members. Likewise, when dispensing refill prescriptions, the pharmacist should consider that a patient's prescription of ilness may be changing; an original lackof concern about a sore throat may now have become worry over the implications of a longer-term condition, concern over being off work longer than expected, and possibly questions about the phusician's and pharmacist's abilities to treat the condition.
長いですが、よろしくお願いしますm(__)m At that time this was a pretty radical thing to do, especially for "Fab Four". It was a first opportunity I personally took to wave the flag a bit. But you've got to remember that I'd always felt repressed. We were all so pressurized that there was hardly any chance of expressing ourselves, especially working at that rate, touring continually and always kept in a cocoon of myths and dreams. It's pretty hard when you are Caesar and everyone is saying how wonderful ypu are and they are giving you all the goodies and the girls, it's pretty hard to break out of that to say, "Well, I don't want to be king, I want to be real".
長文ですが、どなたか和訳よろしくお願いします。 In addition to cottonwoods and aspens , other trees are coming back , and most dramatically in places where browsing elk don't have a 360-degree view. One stand of willows, for example , grows at the foot of a mound that blocks the animals'view. It is obvious that the plants have not been eaten at all in several years. Elk don't feel safe here, because they can't see what is going on all around and are nervous about spending time in this area for fear of being attacked by wolves. Other changes accompany the regrowth of vegetation along the Lamar River. Just upstream is a small beaver dam , one of the first three dams documented on the river in 50 years. Slough Creek , a stream flowing into the Lamar , has six dams. Some researchers believe that because of the regrowth , beavers have something to eat again. "their food reserves are full of willow," one researcher says. As more woody vegetation grows along the Lamar , it will stabilize the banks and stop some erosion. More vegetation will also shade and cool the streams. It means , too, more broken branches in the Lamar, which will slow the river . And that causes water to pool and improves the trout habitat, leading to more and bigger fish. Although the scientific focus so far has been on vegetation, the wolf seems to have had an influence on the food web in other parts of Yellowstone as well. One of its most dramatic effects has been on coyotes. The number of coyotes in the park is down by 50 percent and in core wolf areas has dropped by 90 percent. With fewer coyotes, their prey, mice and rats, have exploded in number.
An exception, says Kanter, was that long time almost star named Lucille Ball. She and her bandleader husband, Desi Arnaz, had appeared on The Ed Wynn Show at their first opportunity, in 1949. "she wanted to come on television to find out what this medium was all about," Kanter says. Ball said she found it "so frightening, but so wonderful. I'd never been in such a hurried, chaotic setting with these monstrous cameras all over the stage and not enough rehearsal. But it was great fun." It was good that she found it so. She had recently started a radio sitcom for CBS called My Favorite Husband, which rose quickly in popularity. In 1950 the network asked her and her radio producer, Jess Oppenheimer, to develop the show for television.

"Imagine" was a sincere statement. It was "Working Class Hero" with chocolate on. It was trting to think of it in terms of children. "Imagine",both the song itself and the album, is the same thing as "Working Class Hero" and "Mother" and "God" on the first disc. But the first record was too real for people, so nobody bought it. It was banned on the radio. But the song 'Imagine', which says: "Imagine that there was no more religion, no more country, no more politics" is virtually the communist manifesto, even though I am not particulary a communist and I do not belong to any movement. You see,'Imagine' was exactly the same message, but sugar-coated. Now "Imagine" is a big hit almost everywhere ―antireligious, antinatinalistic, anticonventional, anticapitalistic song, but because it is sugar-coated it is acceptted.

Most of the social history which has been written during the last decade and a hlf has been in conscious reaction to these early heroic adventures - partly because the dynamics of the scholarly process invariably work like that, and partly because the Marxist input into British scolarship hassignificantly declined in confidence, vigour and importance during the Thatcher years. Thw debates initiated in the 1960s - on the standard of living, the existence of class, and the labor aristocracy - have become increasingly sterile, introverted and unproductive.

This is the horrific death of Tom Pryce at the South African GP of 1977. Tom Pryce is the only Welsh driver ever to win an F1 race however he is remembered for his tragic death. Pryce's team mate Renzo Zorzi retired on lap 21 and pulled aside on the long back straight. He was at first stuck and two marshalls came to his aid. The car was stationary at the top of the blind brow. At that moment, cars driven by Pryce and Hans-Joachim Stuck suddenly appeared, nearly side-by-side. Stuck's car passed behind the first marshall and ahead of the second marshall. However Pryce hit the second marshall named Frederick Jansen Van Vuuren who was carrying a 40lb fire extinguisher at 170mph causing instant death to the marshall. The impact seemed to have only minimum influence on Pryce's car, only slightly damaging its front wing. However the fire extinguisher he was carrying hit Pryce's head and then flung out of the racetrack over the grandstands. The impact with the extinguisher had wrenched Pryce's helmet upward, and he had been partially decapitated by the strap. Death was almost certainly instantaneous. However the car didn't stop and continued down the straight and then collided with Jacques Lafitte's car putting him out of the race. As for Van Vuuren, the injuries to his body were so severe (His body was split in half and dismembered) that he was identified only by exclusion after the race director summoned all of the race marshals and Van Vuuren could not be found.
・scientists have found changes brought about by wolves that returned on their own in the 1980's : willows reappeared, the diversity and abundance of songbirds doubled.
・But a storong correlation between the return of wolves and the new growth is far from demonstrated. Claiming that wolves are responsible is close to bad science. The ecosystem in Yellowstone is a multicausal interactive system, and there's never a single cause. Even a predominant cause is rare. At the same time the wolf numbers were coming back, there was flooding along the river and the climate is a lot warmer.
Dogs purchased from rescue shelters are particularly prone to separation-related problems, e.g. destruction, elimination when left alone (e.g. Jagoe, 1994; McCrave,1991). So-called ‘separation anxiety’ is believed to be due to the breakdown in a dog’s social ties to its previous owners followed by the development of an overly close attachment to a subsequent owner (e.g. Askew, 1996; O’Farrell, 1992; Voith and Borchelt, 1985). Accurate information regarding the incidence and range of behaviour problems exhibited by dogs acquired from rescue shelters is sorely missing. It would be of value to determine what proportion of dogs purchased from rescue shelters show undesirable behaviours in their new homes. Once such information is collected then appropriate measures can be undertaken to reduce the incidence of problem behaviours prior to purchase. This may improve owners’ satisfaction with their new pet, encourage more acceptable owner–pet relationships, andror result in a decrease in the number of dogs that are returned to rescue shelters with problem behaviours. The following study collected information regarding the incidence of owner-assessed problem behaviours exhibited by a sample of dogs within the first month of their purchase from the largest animal rescue shelter in Northern Ireland. Owners' reports were used as evidence of canine behaviour problems since it is the perceptions of the owner that determines whether the dog is ultimately kept(Wells, 1996). The dogs’ sex(male, female), age (puppy, juvenile, adult), background (stray, unwanted) and castration status(neutered, intact)were recorded to determine whether they were associated with the likelihood of dogs exhibiting problem behaviour/s.
Albert Einstein was born near the end of the nineteenthcentury in Germany. He graduated from a university in 1900,and two years after that began to work. He decided to return to the university and in 1905,at the age of 26,he received his post-graduate degree. That same year,he published three papers that completely changed the world of physics. Sixteen years later he won the Nobel Prize. Then in the early 1930s,when the Nazi Party came into power in Germany, he immediately decided to leave forthe rest of his life. Einstein is also remembered for his efforts to secure world peace. He died at the age of 76. お願いします

Blood has meny important jobs to do. Its major function is to act as a transport system, carrying oxygen and food to all parts of the body, and carying away waste products. To do this it circulates around the body through a system of blood vessels. The main parts of the human body through which the blood circulates are shown in Figure 5.1.
The heart is a "blood pump". When blood leaves the heart, it is under high pressure. The vessels carrying the blood away from the heart have to withstand this pressure, so they have thick, muscularwalls. Vessels carrying blood away from the heart are called arteries. When an artery comes near the surface, it is some times possible to feel the surging pressure caused by the heart beating. This is called a pulse. You can feel a pulse in your wrist.
Narcissism to me has superficial connotations - when an artist admits to being narcissistic, they're simply vain and unable to probe deeper. Perhaps it's my belief that there is no real 'core' to people, unless you cite the irreconcilable conflicts and paradoxes which are both universal and form the seed of our identities. In that way, I can agree with youo - the 'deeper' you get to your 'core,' the less of you there actually is: which to me makes for more sincere art.
You simply need to explain yourself to your readers to help them understand what you know about a topic, how feel about it, and why you feel that way. よろしくお願いします

KAGOSHIMA (Kyodo) The number of people becoming patissiers is growing as media coverage and the growing number of international awards gives the profession a glamorous image. The patissier boom began about 10 years ago. "Since the latter half of the 1900s, the French word ‘patissier’has beenused for Western-style confectioners and they have made a fashionable impression," said an official at the Federation of Japan Confectionery Associations. The interest in patissiers has expanded as the number of young confectioners returning from Europe with awards from international competitions has grown and the media has started applying the moniker "charismatic patissier" to some of them. "Women's magazines have taken up the subject of patissiers and this has largely contributed to their popularity," the federation official said. The interest in the people behind the pastries is paying off in other ways."We can now attract customers with the names of patissiers," said an official at Namco Ltd., which has cake theme parks.
Many young people dream about becoming a patissier. The number of applications for Ecole de Patisserie de tokio, which has been open in Tokyo for 53 years, has exceeded the 200 open spots annually in recent years. "The number of people wishing to enter here sharply increased in 2001 when a TV drama set in a cake shop was broadcast," a school official said. Toyohito Yanagimura, who teaches a course at Kagoshima Josai, said it is important to learn confectionery techniques early in life. "In europe, the birthplace of confectionery-making, people start to study it when they are young. studying new techniques and acquiring experience early on is important. Young people can also nurture their sensitivity," which he deems necessary to becoming a good patissier. while people thing of the confectionery industry as glamorous, the work is hard. It typically takes four to five years to become a full patissier and the work is physically demanding. Patissiers stand all day and their creations do not last long. "Confectionery is perishable and cannot be kept for long," said one patissier. "There is also a limit to mechanization. It's not unusual to have to work past midnight." "There are many people who join the industry, but there are also many who quit," an industry source said. "In addition to the flamboyance of the industry, cake-making is a job for self- expression. The yearning among young people is strong, and the boom is expected to continue for a while," said an official in charge of entrance exams at a vocational school for confectioners.
Where international custom criminalises certain conduct, the incumbent court must also satisfy itself that the particular offence is ‘defined with sufficient clarity under customary international law for its general nature, its criminal character and its approximate gravity to have been sufficiently foreseeable and accessible’.

Arteries branch into smaller vessels called arteriles. These in turn branch into a huge network of tiny vessels spreading throughout the body. These are called capillaries. They are very small and are so numerous that no living cell is far from a capillary. Capillaries are permeable, so the watery part of the blood leaks out. The cells are bathed in this watery fluid, called tissure fluid. Food and oxygen diffuse from the blood to the cells via this tissure fluid. Waste products diffuse through it in the opposite direction(Figure 5.2).

長文ですが、どなたか和訳おねがいします^ Furthermore, they suggest that the local company may be able to find ways to differentiate itself from a foreign multinational, for example, by focusing on market niches that the multinational ignores or is unable to serve effectively if it has a standardized global product offering. Having improved its performance through learning and differentiated its product offering, the firm from a developing nation may then be able to pursue its own international expansion strategy. Even though the firm may be a late entrant into many countries, by bench-marking and then differentiating itself from early movers in grovel markets, the firm from the developing nation may still be able to build a strong international business presence. A good example of how this can work is given in the accompanying Management Focus, which looks at how Jollibee, a Philippines-based fast-food chain, has started to build a global presence in a market dominated by U.S. multinationals such as McDonald`s and KFC.
Others just aren’t curious. But being ruled by the inquisitive Mercury, the process of inquiry is like breathing for you − both natural and necessary. Yet you’ve certain blind spots, areas you avoid even thinking about simply because they’re a source of such confusion, frustration and, in some cases, pain. However, because these are highlighted by otherwise intriguing developments, you can’t simply ignore them. Risky as plunging in seems, once you’re actually discussing these frankly, you realise why they’ve so undermined you and, more important, how powerful simply acknowledging them can be. Better yet, others witness your courage, and lend timely and heart-warming support.

Natagora made all the running to win the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket.
Natagora (right) held on to win by half-a-length from Spacious (left)
The 11-4 favourite, trained in France by Pascal Bary and ridden by Christophe Lemaire, was out of the stalls sharply to set the pace, with Muthabara second.
Muthabara faded but Natagora held on to win by half-a-length from Spacious, with Saoirse Abu finishing third.
Nahoodh was travelling beautifully late on but was trapped behind the leaders and found herself unable to mount a proper challenge.
Winning rider Christophe Lemaire said: "I can't believe it. I had so much confidence, the only thing for me was to try to get a good position without using too much energy. She gave all she had and is a fantastic filly."
Bary suffered heartbreak in the 2003 edition of the race when Six Perfections found all sorts of trouble and covered most of the Rowley Mile before flashing home just too late to collar Russian Rhythm.
But this time Natagora was never headed and an elated Bary said: "She has done something fantastic. They all came to her, but she ran to the end.
"She is a fantastic filly. I have dreamed about this since last October. She is very brave and she moves very well; even when she is in front she doesn't pull or anything like that."
James Fanshawe, trainer of second-placed Spacious, said: "She ran very well, Jamie (Spencer) just thought she could have done with a stronger pace.

Another reason is that new immigrants from France's former North African colonies harbor hatred for affluent Jewish people. These immigrants often live in high-rise tower block apartments, and often become the victims of racism. They see the Jewish community as both more affluent and better integrated into French society than themselves.
@Television, movies, and the explosion in overseas travel have all played a role in this amazing transformation, and now the Internet is increasingly becoming an agent of change, too. For some societies, the changes have come gradually. Here in Japan, for example, each new model of mobile phone just adds a few new features to what the previous model could already do. It's a gradual evolution, and only if you compare your current phone with a three- or four-year-old one do you sea a significant difference. In Bangladesh, by contrast, villages which have never had telephones of any sort are now being wired into the country's mobile phone system, bringing enormous change almost over night. In even more extreme cases, when new roads are built into remote areas, people living much as their ancestors did in the fifteenth century are suddenly catapulted into the twenty-first century.

IKI is working as a travel agent helping business people. She orders flights, hotels and car rentals for them.It is a very difficult and hectic job because business people tends to change their schedule very often, sometimes while they are in the middle of their journey.I am working in a company that makes black- boxes for cars. The Black-Box is installed in your car and collects information about your driving style. The driving information includes:speeding, using the Brakes to stop, turning etc. The collected data is transmitted by cellular modem to our computers in the center, where we analyze the driver's behavior. The result of this analysis is used by Insurance companies to setup premium or fleet-managers to manage their team of drivers.
AChanges such as these are like Pandora's Box:after they come, they're here to stay. A once-isolated village, after it's connected to the world through roads, phone lines, and electricity, almost certainly will never destroy that road , cut those phone lines, turn off the electricity, and return to its former isolation. And when the people of that village have discarded their traditional clothes, possessions, and traditions in favor of what they see on television, they're highly unlikely ever to go back to "the old ways."
BIs this cultural globalization a good thing? The answer depends on whom you're asking. If a European visits Mongolia and finds the nomads watching color TV's riding motorcycles instead of horses, and wearing T-shirts that say "New York Mets," he's likely to sigh, "I wish they still lived the way they did fifty years ago.It would be so much more interesting.” But ask the same person whether he would like to live in the Europe of fifty years ago, and you can be certain of the answer: "No." With the world changing so quickly, even our own culture ten years ago seems primitive compared with today. It's fun to see and experience "the old ways," but at the end of the day, most of us want to come home to the comforts of the modern world-and so do Mongolian nomads.
We have some record of what each of these two men thought he observed, and it is instructive to compare their private notes,if we are to anderstand the reasons for the great differences between them.
In 1940 she married her Cuban singer-bandleader, he took an unsuccessful stab at the movies but for the most part spent the next decade touring with his dance band and the USO. The Ball-Arnaz marriage suffered badly from the long separations. "We'd been married for ten years," Ball said, "and together for maybe a year and two months in that time." Ball wanted to find a regular gig for her husband in order to keep their household together. She talked Bob Hope into hiring Desi for his radio show, but radio was no longer the medium for long-term stability.

@ The son of a successful man is well placed in the economic competitive system for many obious reasons ; social mobility between generations is not very much greater than in England. A There is no habit of humbly accepting an unfavourable inherited place in society ; if people believe in equality of opportunity the existence of that belief tends to make opportunity more equal. B And America is indeed the richest the world has seen, in terms of total possessions―or almost the richest : strangely enough the wealth per person is now actually greater in the little state of Kuwait, ...(ry C Americans are justly proud of their collective material achievements, but the common criticism that they worship money and material things is unfair. D In every society, some people have more prestige and higher status than other people, and in all societies of which we know, except some of the most primitive, high prestige, power and relative wealth have usually gone together.
Increased social stimulation had a positive effect on the behaviour of sheltered dogs, encouraging them to spend more of their time standing at the front of the pen. This change in behaviour may be considered largely advantageous from a welfare point of view, facilitating dog–human interactions and increasing the amount of stimulation a dog receives. Providing sheltered dogs with increased social contacts may also allow an animal to gain more control over its environment(Hubrecht et al., 1992), thereby decreasing the chances of the individual failing to cope with the pressures of confinement. Standing alert at the front of the cage may also improve a sheltered dog’s chances of becoming purchased. Potential buyers show a much greater preference for dogs which are at the front of the cage to those which are at the rear of the pen (Wells, 1996; Wells and Hepper, 1992), and dogs which are alert, i.e. standing, sitting, moving, to dogs which are not alert, i.e. resting, sleeping(Wells, 1996). By exhibiting more publicly acceptable behaviours in the presence of larger number of visitors to the shelter environment, dogs may significantly improve their chances of being viewed as desirable and their ultimate chances of being re-housed.

For women like me, as Liz Stanley and Sue Wise write, feminism is a way of living our lives.
It occurs as and when women, individually and together, heaitantly and rampantly, joyously and with deep sorrow, come to see our lives differently and to reject externally imposed frames of reference for understanding them lives, instead beginning the slow process of constructing our own ways of seeing them, understanding them, and living them. For us,the insistence on the deeply political nature of everyday life and on seeing political change as personal change,is quite simply,“feminism”(L Stanley and S Wise, 1983,p.192)
お願いします! For ages you’ve been trying to get certain arrangements organised, but with limited success. Now, suddenly, others are ready to discuss taking things further. Better yet, having done some serious thinking, you’ve some new ideas to suggest, so are feeling more confident than for ages. Yet you’re distracted and can’t keep your mind off of certain intriguing ideas or ventures. These wouldn’t just broaden your horizons, they’d highlight questions about your priorities. They’re exactly the questions you should be asking. It isn’t a matter or either/or. With only a little imagination you can fit both those existing plans and new ventures into your life.
It was the first opportunity I personally took to wave the flag a bit. But you've got to remember that I'd always felt repressed. We were all so pressurized that there was hardly any chance of expressing ourselves, especially working at that rate, touring continually and always kept in a cocoon of myths and dreams. It's pretty hard when you are Caesar and everyone is saying how wonderful you are and they are giving you all the goodies and the girls, it's pretty hard to break out of that to say, "Well, I don't want to be king, I want to be real."
Under similar circumstance, most conventional robots would stop functioning, notes Christoph Adami of the Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences in Claremont, Calif.,commenting in the same issue of Science.

Europeans of the nineteenth century thought Americans worshipped money because prestige and status in Europe at that time depended partly on family, which did not count for so much in America.

Right now I am preparing myself for a cornea transplantation (because of an eye disease called Keratoconus - weak spots in the cornea).I had my right cornea trensplanted in december 2006, and after a long period of recovery it is now time for my left eye.I hope to hear this week when it will be,probably somewhere in the first half of June. I will stay in the hospital for a couple of days and then I will have to stay home for about 3 months - and that is the most difficult part! I really have to take it easy, because there is a chance that my body will reject the cornea, and of course I do not want that......

Finegrinding is a machining process with a multiple cutting tool out of bonded, extremely hard abrasives under permanent surface contact between workpiece and tool for improvement of size, form and surface quality. In the finegrinding process tools with bonded grain are used, in opposite to lapping where the grain is bonded. Due to this reason different removal mechanism take effect during machining, despite similar kinematic circumstances. Finegrinding is a double-side-cross-flatgrinding process with cycloid workpiece movement where both workpiece sides are machined simultaneously. After inserting the workpieces into the especially designed apertures of the carriers, the carriers are guided through a gear tooth system between two rotating grinding wheels. During this, the carriers move like the circulating wheels of an epicyclic gear between the driven inner and the resting outer pin ring of the epicyclic workholder drive system, so that the carriers in between the carriers move in cycloid tracks.
It is true, as India forcefully argued at the ministers meeting that past trade agreements too often have been ignored. と U.S Trade Representative Robert Zoellick was right to say that the new round of trade talks can help deliver “growth, development and prosperity”worldwide. どちらか一方だけでもいいのでお願いします。
In 1861,the shipbuilding company of Harland and Wolff was founded. At one time,it was probably the world′s lagest shipyard. It was in this shipyard that the ill‐fated Titanic was built. As everyone knows from the many movies made about the disaster, Titanic struck an iceberg on its maiden voyage and sank with the loss of more than 1,500 lives. Today, the gigantic cranes of Harland and Wolff still dominate the eastern skyline of Belfast. Harland and Wolff is a convenient symbol of the social system which led to the civil unrest for which Belfast became notorious. Like almost all the large companies in Belfast,it employed exclusively Protestants. Catholics were effectively excluded from a share in the prosperity of the city.

Today Americans have the reputation of being big spenders, but this has not always bennthe case. The early settlers in the New World were usually simple, frugal people who left their homes in Europe to escape poverty or adventure.

The main branch of the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (USPCA), in Carryduff, Down, was used as the study site. Dogs housed in this shelter are generally held singly in two rows of cages, 29 cages per row. The centre is thus capable of housing a total of 58 dogs singly at any one time. Each cage (1 m wide=4 m long=2 m high) consists of a wire mesh front, a door at the back of the pen, and concrete floor and walls. The dog’s view from the front of the cage is of a concrete walled alley along which members of the public may walk. The enclosures are cleaned every morning and the dogs are fed once a day in the afternoon.
This study examined the influence of environmental change on the behaviour of sheltered dogs to determine whether the cage manipulations encouraged dogs to behave in more publicly ‘‘acceptable’’ manners.

June 26, 2005 Eurasian faces.... This Sydney Morning Herald piece summarizes a paper that asserts that: ...In experiment 1, Caucasian participants rated own-race composites as more attractive than other-race composites, but only for male faces. However, mixed-race (Caucasian/Japanese) composites were significantly more attractive than own-race composites, particularly for the opposite sex. In experiment 2, Caucasian and Japanese participants living in Australia and Japan, respectively, selected the most attractive face from a continuum with exaggerated Caucasian characteristics at one end and exaggerated Japanese characteristics at the other, with intervening images including a Caucasian averaged composite, a mixed-race averaged composite, and a Japanese averaged composite. The most attractive face was, again, a mixed-race composite, for both Caucasian and Japanese participants. In experiment 3, Caucasian participants rated individual Eurasian faces as significantly more attractive than either Caucasian or Asian faces.

They agreed to separate, I understand, after a long heart-to-heart within the past week or so. Both are immensely sad, of course, but I am told that the parting was amicable and no one else is involved. From the outside the relationship had seemed secure and stable, though significantly an engagement had never been seriously contemplated, and that perhaps was part of the underlying problem. William is still only 24. He's concentrating on the army, enjoying his freedom and unwilling to commit to marriage. In recent months he's found less and less time for Kate. She, though, has been notably patient, loyal and discreet throughout the six years they've known each other, and the four years of their relationship.

Ronnie resumes his attitude of utter dejection. He takes out of his pocket a letter in a sealed envelope. After a second's hesitation, he opens it, and reads the contents. The perusal appears to increase his misery. He takes two or three quick steps towards the hall door. Then he stops, uncertainly. There is the sound of voices in the hall. Ronnie, with a strangled sob, runs to the window and into the garden. The rest of the Winslow family enters from the hall.

Is there nothing that interests us all? Is there nothing that concerns everyone - no matter who they are or where they live in the world? Yes, dear Sophie, there are questions that certainly should interest eveyone. They are precisely the questions this course is about. What is the most important thing in life? If we ask someone living on the edge of starvation, the answer is food. If we put the same question to someone who feels lonely and isolated, the answer will probably be the company of other people.
Scientists are becoming ever more concerned with the fact that without equal concern for these species, the planet's biological diversity will be destroyed, leaving us with a loss of potential new foods and drugs.
Frequent summits promised improved political ties and trust, while the the of regionalism resurfaced as an appealing goal. Yet, it is no longer possible to take seriously the excuse of boosters that the momentum keeps building along a timetable that is unduly long.

You can assume that the polygon is simple, that is, its border never crosses or touches itself. As stated above, the given polygon is always a convex one. The last dataset is followed by a line containing a single zero.
For each dataset in the input, one line containing the distance of the most distant point from the sea should be output. An output line should not contain extra characters such as spaces.
The answer should not have an error greater than 0.1. You may output any number of digits after the decimal point, provided that the above accuracy condition is satisfied.

A desire to help one's own department is not always a matter of self-interest. At Apple Computer, for example, Jean Louis Gasse had a sincere belief that the company's future lay in high-end computers. It was really CEO John Scully's unwillingness to engage his top team in constructive conflict that let Gasse, in effect, block Apple from responding properly to its competitive environment. At Santa Rosa Systems Division, manufacturing's Sam Scott certainly cared about helping SRSD survive. But some of his assumptions needed to be challenged, and general manager Wright's aversion to conflict meant they never were.
・Virtually non-warping thanks to frame construction and 3 support points ・Mineral cast structure guarantees top thermal and mechanical endurance ・High workforce to improve stock removal ・All drives on the outside of the machine structure ・Constant working wheel temperature thanks to efficient cooling system. The working wheel remains level and the workpieces are even load after load ・Based on Siemens units, Stahli has developed a control specifically for micro-machining processes ・Nonmagnetic clamping means no workpiece distortion ・Application for ferro- and non-ferromagnetic materials

She was too timid to take any so definite a step, for, by establishing herself in a shop, with her name written up on a board outside, was she not establishing herself in the minds of others, as a shopkeeper?
But when these basic needs have been satisfied - will there still be something that everybody needs? Philosophers think so. They believe that man cannot live by bread alone. Of course everyone needs food. And everyone needs love and care. But there is something else - apart from that - which everyone needs, and that is to figure out who we are and why we are here. Being interested in why we are here is not a "casual" interest like collecting stamps. People who ask such questions are taking part in a debate that has gone on as long as man has lived on this planet. How the universe, the earth, and life came into being is a bigger and more important question that who won the most gold medals in the last Olympics.

The best way of approaching philosophy is to ask a few philosophical questions: How was the world created? Is there any will or meaning behind what happens? Is there a life after death? How can we answer these questions? And most important, how ought we to live? People have been asking these questions throughout the ages. We know of no culture which has not concerned itself with what man is and where the world came from. Basically there are not many philosophical questions to ask. We have already asked some of the most important ones. But history presents us with many different answers to each question. So it is easier to ask philosophical questions than to answer them.
The Patentees desire to remark, that "PATENT" is stamped on each of their patent products; an attention to which, on the part of purchasers, will tend to check any attempt at imposition.

I'm pretty much at the same level that katsumoto was after 18 months of practice. Though I reckon katsumoto was much better at speaking than I was as he apparently had a large amount of japanese friends etc. I've only spoken Japanese about 3 or 4 times in the last year or so
Isolation has always been one of the most important aspects of life in New Zealand. It is 19,000 km from Europe and 1,900 km from Australia, its nearest neighbor. Because of this distance and isolation, New Zealand has a very small population for its size. You can find plant and animal life that are not found anywhere else on earth, including the kiwi bird - the national symbol. New Zealand's isolation has protected it from becoming too populated and too developed like the rest of the world.
Learning and remembering involve making modifications to certain neurons in the brain, probably by activating genes that help the brain modify connections.

A federal grand jury indicted a Missouri woman for her alleged role in a MySpace hoax against a 13-year-old neighbor who committed suicide. Lori Drew of suburban St. Louis allegedly helped create a false-identity MySpace account to contact Megan Meier, who thought she was chatting with a 16-year-old boy named Josh Evans, who did not exist. Megan hanged herself at home in October 2006 after receiving cruel messages, including one stating the world would be better off without her.
On any Sunday, in any of the poor quarters of London large numbers of fathers may be seen with their young children, evidently rejoicing in the brief opportunity of getting to know them. But whatever may be the case from the father's point of view, from that of child this is play relation without serious importance.
↓もどなたかお願いします。 But so far intimate contact is concerned, there is less, as a rule, between mother and child among wage earners. The father has a play relation with his children in holidays, but has no more part in their real education than a working -class father. He has, of course economic responsibility and the power of deciding where they shall be educated, but his personal contact with them is not usually of a very serious kind.
Most important, children learn how to talk, how to have conversations, not only from their parents but from their peers. After all, if their parents have a foreign or regional accent, children do not emulate it; they learn to speak with the pronunciation of the region where they grow up. Anthropologists Daniel Malz and Ruth Borker summarize research showing that boys and girls have very different ways of talking to their friends. Although they often play together, boys and girls spend most of their time playing in same-sex groups. And, although some of the activities they play at are are similar, their favorite games are different, and their ways of using language in their games are separated by a world of difference.
In a paper published on March 8, 2005 in the American Geophysical Union's Geophysical Research Letters, a research team led by Anastasia Romanou of Columbia University's Department of Applied Physics and Mathematics, New York, also showed that the apparently opposing forces of global warming and global dimming can occur at the same time. Global dimming interacts with global warming by blocking sunlight that would otherwise cause evaporation and the particulates bind to water droplets. Water vapor is one of the greenhouse gases. On the other hand, global dimming is affected by evaporation and rain. Rain has the effect of clearing out polluted skies.
These products give you energy, as well as essential amino acids(which are then used, by your immune system, you make various chemicals to help you fight that fever).
From the moment CBS approached her with the idea of a My Favorite Hasbund TV show, she knew one sing; She wouldn't be doing it with her costar Richard Denning. Her husband on the show would be Desi. According to Ball,,CBS execs were incredulous. "They said,'Desi? Nobody'd believe that!' I said,,'What do you mean, nobody'd believe? He is my husband!' They said,,'Yeah, but. . . @ Today the wearing of gloves is considered obligatory in chemical laboratories and the discovery would never be made,so the sweetness of the dipetide would probably remain hidden from us for ever. The oddest manner in which a new sweetener came to light was when, one day in 1976,a foreign research student at King's College in London misheard the instructions of his supervisor,Professor L.Hough.
A Hough was searching for possible synthetic industrial applications of sucrose, the common sugar of cane and beet, and several derivatives had been produced in the laboratory. One of these was a trichlorosucrose(sucrose into which three atoms of chlorine had been introduced). Hough asked Shashikant Phadnis to'test'the substances, but, his ear being imperfectly attuned to the language,Phadnis instead tasted it.
But he's so old, dear. From the back of the church you really can't hear a word he says.
He's a good man, Grace.
But what's the use of being good, if you're inaudible?
A problem in eithics for you, Father.
There's a draught, Grace.
Oh dear―it's coming on to rain.
I'm on Mother's side. The old boy's so doddery now he can hardly finish the course at all. I timed him to-day. It took him seventy-five seconds dead from a flying start to reach the pulpit, and then he needed the whip coming round the bend. I call that pretty bad going.

Taiwan ranks within top 10 percent among the 200-plus nations in terms of GDP, percapita income and foreign exchange reserves. Such prosperity proves to the world that a democratic system can be built without bloodshed or sacrificing economic growth. Furthermore, it shows the 1.3 billion Chinese on the mainland that Chinese people can flourish and be happier in a democracy. Yet Taiwan is a country one hears about but rarely hears from.

Brown clouds have been found to amplify global warming according to V. Ramanathan, an atmospheric chemist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, CA. "The conventional thinking is that brown clouds have masked as much as 50 percent of global warming by greenhouse gases through so-called global dimming," ... "While this is true globally, this study reveals that over southern and eastern Asia, the soot particles in the brown clouds are in fact amplifying the atmospheric warming trend caused by greenhouse gases by as much as 50 percent."

Three months ago you may have come to a decision which has taken until this time to put in motion. Likewise, events of early March may only now be revealing their true potential. Saturn has a big role to play in this week's developments so you have an opportunity to show what a strong person and a serious contender you are. Then again, if you have made an error of judgement you'll probably discover the cost of that mistake during the next few days. There's much you can do to strengthen your position and it seems you need to take a firm hand rather than allowing situations to come together in their own way. It's not the time to trust to luck.Staying strong.
With both the Sun and Venus, the planet of money and relationship, joining your ruler Mercury in accenting existing commitments, your objectives and any professional obligations, you’re beginning a lengthy period of both review and exploration.
Others may be eager for decisions, but it’s for their convenience, not yours. Besides, with Mercury going retrograde early next week, the usual confusion and minor errors could prove remarkably revealing, particularly about your own misperceptions and others’ underhand manoeuvres.
So enjoy this week’s intriguing encounters and offers with the knowledge that, whatever the pressure you’re under, you need commit to nothing and to nobody.
