' goes out the window' はある歌の歌詞の中から拾いました。
文章ではなくて申し訳ないんですが、下がその歌詞の一部に
なります。

ネイティブに尋ねたところ、

「out the window・・。
when your plans change. or something you expect to happen changes.」

みたいなことを言われました。
他の言葉も使って、いろいろ説明してくれたのですが、
ますます困惑するばかりで・・・。
