For hospitals struggling with cost overruns in other areas, NICUs can be havens of healthy revenue growth and profits. Children's National sets the goal of 4% profit margins overall, but NICU profits can be double that. Last November the hospital unveiled a $75 million tower that features various specialty units to treat heart and brain problems of preemies. Its expansion plans include a second NICU that will open in 2009. It will have 54 beds, boosting Children's total preemie capacity by 25%. All of the rooms will be private and will be equipped with Internet systems that allow neurologists to monitor brain function from their homes. New technology suffuses every corner of Children's NICU. On a sunny day in late February, the hospital is abuzz, with nurses and doctors scurrying around the floor, hovering over the various cribs and warmers that contain the preemies. In March 1988, the sculptor Isamu Noguchi visited Sapporo for the first time. At the time, he intently observed the surface of Moere Marsh, which was still covered with snow. The landscape and the northern skyline made a strong impression on Noguchi. Living up to his expectations, the Sapporo Municipal Government entrusted the sculptor with designing the park. This was an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Noguchi, who had continued contemplating about the idea of creating a park for a long period of time, eventually prompting him to enthusiastically design a “park that is considered to be one complete sculpture.” Unfortunately, Noguchi passed away suddenly in New York on December 30, 1988 after completing the master plan, but the full-fledged construction of the park according to the Noguchi’s plans began the following year.

MT a Reality? The idea of using machines to provide translations between natural languages has been recognized since the 1930s, but an appropriate climate for development did not arise until the years following the Second World War. At that time, the rise of information theory, the success of advanced code-breaking techniques, and the invention of the electronic computer all indicated that machine translation (MT) could be a reality. Warren Weaver, a founder of the field, caught the optimism in a 1947 memorandum: “One naturally wonders if the problem of translation could conceivably be treated as a problem of cryptography. When I look at an article in Russian, I say :”This is really written in English, but it has been coded in some strange symbols. I will now proceed to decode.” As a result, several groups began research programmes into MT during the 1950s, and great claims were made for the future of the subject (W.Weaver,1955).
However, initial results were not encouraging. The systems proved to be very limited in the kind of data they could handle. Translations were crude, full of errors, and required so much human post-editing that they proved to be more expensive than having a human translator carry out the whole task in the first place. The main reason was the lack of a sufficiently sophisticated linguistic theory to provide a frame of reference for the tasks that MT needed to undertake. The earliest MT system did little more than look for equivalences between the words in each language- in effect, they acted as an automatic bilingual dictionary. After several decades of linguistic research, it is easy to see why these approaches could not have worked. They ignored the problem posed by the grammatical dimension of language analysis – the different levels of syntactic organization, and the absence of straightforward formal correspondences between units of grammar. The dissatisfaction was summarized in a US report of 1966 by the Automatic Language Processing Advisory Committee (ALPAC), which concluded that human translating was faster more accurate, and less expensive than MT, and that no further support for the latter should be provided. As a consequence, only a minimal amount of MT research was carried on in subsequent years, either in the USA or in Europe.

Dunlop - same as we sent you but collets are missing Conti-Tech - spring looks the same but different design at the top where the collet is.
Today we did not receive Dunlop springs (my plan was to take the collets off these and send them to you) but we received Conti-Tech ones, (there are no Dunlop available until March.)
I think that your Land Rover has Conti-Tech springs fitted otherwise you would have used the collets from the old springs.
So to resolve the problem I suggest we immediately ship you 2 x Conti-Tech springs which will be identical to the ones removed from your car so they will fit immediately without any trouble.

Sometimes I just show prints on heavy printmaking paper, sometimes I show pieces printed on canvas, which have to be professionally printed. The cool thing about having something output professionally is that you can make things GIANT.

It’s pretty rare that a client actually needs all rights to your art. They can be surprisingly flexible about ammending greedy contracts for shorter periods of time for specific media. In theory, it also costs less money for limited usage, which can give you some leverage in negotiating. But if it’s a standard contract that’s set in stone, you need to make a judgement call based on how desperate you are for cash.
