As he said, they generally (but maybe not always) are geared towards not hurting someone's feelings. Say you go to a relative's house who is usually a great cook, but this particular meal is lousy. Is it immoral, if asked, to tell them that the food was delicious? Or even if not asked? I doubt it.
Of course it's immoral. If it were me and they asked how their cooking was, I'd pull The Joy of Cooking off the shelf, hurl it at their head, tell them to try reading for a change, then storm out of the house, possibly slamming the door behind me (even if it's my house).
Then, due to my philanthropic actions, their cooking would improve, they'd make more friends - perhaps contribute to a bake sale or two for charity, win a Betty Crocker contest, donate part of the winnings to more charities (in my name for helping them learn how to cook, of course), saving lives - perhaps even making a difference.
I generally consider lying to be harmful to yourself and others, so you could call it immoral. However, if you define a 'calculated misdirection from the truth' as an out-right lie, then I'd be willing to rescind and adjust my statement.
one 結婚詐欺師jactitation of marriage was arrested. Suprisingly enough, he is ugly and old. Probably he is very good to talk. Make women's feeling good. His lie was business. lol

>>46 ok. no problem. first of all, think what you like to write in Japanese. and write them in each item. 1) xxx 2)xxx 3) this time the topic is "lie". Language is very powerful impact on people's mind. It is useful tool, but on the other hand It is dangerous tool. People usually lie. It's truth. If one use lie to hurt others, it is immoral and may be like a weapon.
But lie is not always immoral. There is a lie to protect someone from horrible truth. In this way, lie is not bad or immoral.
It is difficult to judge lie as immoral or not. But it is part of communication we can't live without.
>>48 I think telling a lie is always bad, because it bothers you in the end. Even if you can communicate your friends by telling a lie for the first time, you cannot build good relationship in the long run. it is admirable to say truth even if it seems hard. By doing so, you can make true friendship.
>There is a lie to protect someone from horrible truth.
horrible truth is cruel sometimes. yes yes, but what would you do all of your friends except her doesn't know the horrible truth of her obese. She wants to wear this tight summer dress which makes her look like a ham.
>>50 yes it's true. but talking about the minor lies, there is no one who has never lie in his/her life. we all lie everyday, and even lie to ourselves.
>>54 Umm, I think, in that situation, he' better persuade her to change dress. But he should not tell her that all friends think it doesn't look nice with her. He can just tell the dress looks OK but another more suitable dress which he think make her look slim would be better.
>>57 yeah, you are right. we, including even such people who is respected by everyone, tell a lie, even thought it may be nothing more or less than minor. we have to recgniize this fact honestly, I think.
>>60 you are very kind! (^^) I thought of the similar answer. "you are fat" is a harmful and too direct way to tell her. another way is "you never never feel fat to ME," but I also think, the fat person needs some improvement, in that sense, we should tell her the truth, but in soft way.
I had seen “Ueno Jyuri”for the first time in the movie:cherusokuno-natsu. I saw it as a part of school acivity;all of students in my high school saw it together. she was so attractive in that movie and evryone said that she was amazing. I was also caught my heart by her act and beauty. the director said that he produced it so as to make people who wached it fall in love with her. she seemed to also attract the director's attention.
>>86 Have you seen the TV drama 'Nodame~'? I have had humorous imege to Ueno Jyuri-chan by that show, so when I saw her in the commercial of'Cherusoku no Natsu' I was much surprised and moved by the beauty of Jyuri-chan.
I'm fine, thank you. Today is July 4th, you know? In the United States, Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

I missed a train this morning, and then I didn't attend a class. Missing a train gave me a big excuse to skip the very boring class, and I don't regret skipping class at all.
I feel my body wants some cold drinks or ice cream or something in every morning. But There is nothing to make my body satisfied at my house. So I have no refregiater. Should I buy it?
I don't think you need it. You have convenience stores everywhere so you can manage it! in my case, I always need tasty drinks! my current favorite is Hachimitsu Lemon! I'm about to drink it! www
Thank you for your advice to me. I didn't notice having a refrigerator was useful to eat YUKIMI-DAIFUKU in winter. There are some convenience stores at my neighborhood, but I don't wanna use my precious time for going to the store in the morning. Then a refrigerator may make me healthy, because I can eat fresh salads whenever I want.

As for me, Nagasi soumen hits the spot on a hot summer day. Hiyayakko is my favorite, too. While eating them, I feel it happy to have been born as Japanese.
I hear that, in the novel,“Neko-basu“ is ghost train and the two girl ━Satsuki and Mei━ is actually dead.
I don't know wheter the time they die is after or before they ride on the bus, Moreover, I don't know whether the story is true or not. But my brother said like that. Have you ever heard that story ?
>>493 Exactly. I made a mistake because my mother talked to me that there was a “車掌”in the bus when she was a child and lived in “Ehime-prefecture”. That conversation made me confuse train with bus. It's just an excuse, though.
well it is ok to call neko bus as a ghost train. it's just a minor mistake and ghost train sounds more natural than ghost bus. because there are more ghost trains than ghost buses. BTW, that's an interesting story.
I never have any of those problems with bit torrent. Just forward your ports correctly, configure your client properly, and use one like µTorrent that has encryption so your ISP won't throttle your bandwidth. Although I don't know if Japanese ISPs do that, actually.

I am Osaka jin and I like Natto very much. But I have to admit that generally speaking, Osaka jin hate Natto as you said. For this reason, the Natto sold in Osaka can't be called Natto. It doesn't smell at all, so I don't feel like eating it.
Yeah, I thought so. I've also heard there is some non-smell natto. I don't like the concept either. Natto comes with its smell. actually green pepper smells too. almost all the vegetables smell.
>>522 Right. For example, “niowa-natto”isn't tasty for me. Nattos which smell moderately are the best, aren't they?
Surely, natto is convenient. It save me from preparing dishes.

As for me, when I eat Hiyayakko,I always buy chopped-green onion(kizaminegi) packed in a small plastic case. But the amount I use at one time is only a few,so I always discard the rest of it. Because its freshness date is only a day or so. that's wasteful but it can't be helped. I live alone, too.

Kill all the cockroaces or eve if there are some ugry cockroaces left let them live in a stincky room (LOL) and never let them bother you!! Let's have a happy life together!!!! Life is fun fun fun♪
>>694 Don't you have another thing to write in here except about food? I've already been sick and tired of imagining the scene you are eating soumen. I know of " ramen no koike-san" from an old comic book,so can I call you"soumen no nanashi-san"?
NO actually I am a "soba eater"! Everyday, I eat soba morning or/and afternoon! and extra special meal as dinner! I enjoy life with food! and other times, I study English, water flower, reading newspaper, etc. when I wake up early before 5, I go walking. how about your life? fun? lol
It's good thing for your health to keep early hours. um, basically, I am for your attitude to life, but I think life is not all fun. As you may know, Buddha said,"issai kaiku"(I don't know how you say this in English". So basically life is not so fun but we must try to make it fun.
If you look it up in your Japanese dictionary, You'll find it out right away. For your reference, it is written "一切皆苦”in Japanese. I 'm not the guy you're refering to.
I take everything positive In other words, when I happen to meet a bad luck, it's a great opportunity to change my former practice. 悪いことが 起きたら、今までの生活を変えるきっかけになると考えありがたや ありがたやと思うことにしています and when I get a good luck, I am happy as everybody is, therefore my life is all fun fun fun♪
>>704 Yeah, indeed. It is too hard to translate. the proverb said that everything is torment in life. even the happiness, there is an end, so when you are happy, you'll as well become unhappy in the end and it would be even more tormented coz you have once experienced the happiness.
704 said good thing. it may be also an illusion if you define by yourself that this situation/event is happy and this is unhappy.
I agree with 704 too. That is called happiness.
>>709 are you asking me why I drink beer? coz I am going to watch video. while drinking, it is good to drink beer. tea is not good enough when watching an entertaining video.
anyway, I think if you are trying to study English hard, you are already a happy person. I guess someone who has a will to achieve something esp studies, is happy already.
>>716 You could say that but it would mean the girl is disregarding the compliment given to her and giving the first person a compliment.
I don't really think there are appropriate many replies to a compliment. I would just say "Oh really? Thank you". That way you can retain a bit of modesty without denying or accepting the compliment.
It started that a late summer vacation at highschool in Hokkaido. Since I am second grade,I will study English hardly for University examination. Is there similar me?
>>727 Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it. In this thread, you don't need to think much about grammar. You should just write many words and you could learn something.
>>729 Then,I am going to talk about me. I am the second grader of high school student in Hokkaido. I want to pass University examination. But, My result of exam in school is not very good. Because,I have to study hard.
Hi, can I join?? Could you estimate how bad my English is? Like, could you guess my TOEIC score? My English is very bad, but my TOEIC score is much better than I deserve.
>>740 yes unfortunately true. I am sooooooooooooooooooo bad.. I know.. I can't speak English,,, I can read a bit,, but speaking and writing is very difficult for me.
And I have little vocabruary,, because I don't know the word "condescension". What does it mean? I know,, I'm so foolish...
>>747 だめじゃない!変な書き込みだらけの クソスレにさせないようがんばろ! how are you everybody? it's damn hot again today! so when you go out, don't forget to bring a bottle of water or cold tea with you! ^^
Hey! Can't you read Japanese sentences properly? If you can't understand what I want to say, it just means that you don't have enough ability to read Japanese! My composition is absolutely correct.
yes! of course! you are fine with it. only that retarded guy is talking to himself. just ignore those annoying posts.w let's have a fresh air! don't look at cockroaches! even they live in this world. let's live as if they don't exist! they only love to disturb others coz they have nothing to do! lol
>>770 You shouldn't say such a thing. It's a bit much, I think. Jugging from the title, this thread was made for those who are beginners. Your comment will make them hesitate to post here, as a result....
>>777 puwahaha...you canadian chinese guy again!!! You are the one who should get out of here. see? we all can find which posts are made by you. coz you are the only one native speaker here. even how you tried to write the not-well-written sentences, it always shows! your way of writing is not the Japanese one. alright? so just leave here. you only ruin this thread. if you desperately want to stay here. behave yourself. don't write shitty things. alright?
Good evening. Now I'm really tired from watching PC's display. Reading little letter of display is very hard. Does it have something to do with my wearing glasses?
It's 6:30 PM already. Did you enjoy your holiday? I exchanged old and new washing machines, made love with a un-wellknown man, cut my hair, ride my bicycle, and drunk too much.
well,I had the test three years ago, so Im not sure I can do it, but it was not so difficult as I expected.
do you know that TOEIC has changed its style recently? actually,I think, there's not a big change. In fact,I think listening part is easier than before.
Yes, I mean it has been long time since I had the test the last time, So I expected I would find it difficult this time, but in fact it was not. do you get it?
well, the reason I found the listening part easier,is maybe I focused on listening training for the test.
I studied dectation,I think it is the one of the most effensive way to brush up your listening skills.
and another reason is the NAMARI (namari, specific way of speaking, what do you say in English?) of the speaker is not so strong.
>>808 you want to say "being ignorant of the (real) world"? a big fish in the small pond or something? I didn't know you also say a frog in a well. lol
Oh, my English tutor has vanished somewhere. I've been waiting for him to correct my translation for an hour. I know it's 虫のいい考え to take lessons from him for nothing, but it was he who gave us questionsfirst. So at least he should say something about our posts in order to take responsibility.
you must be a foreigner. You can't know how beginners English speakers feel until you are in their shoes. Beginners hesitate to write English. but we want to write English. So pls do not make this thread with full of native's English like "Chat in English". Pls go to that thread if you want to chat with Japanese. Thanks
>>840 When I looked up the Japnese word in Eijiro, I also found out the English phrase. But I thought that it couldn't be used as it was in the English sentence. So I gave up using it. Since I already knew the phrase " take it for granted", I easily understood the meaning of it.
I have a job but it's a menial one. So I'm always thinking of changing jobs but at the same time, I know I'll never do that. Because I'm old enough to be scared of losing jobs.
I heard food of player's town in Beijing is very delicious. Additionally, I heard Olympic players can not bring food they like Beijing, I hope there is bad nothing for food they serve.
Have you eaten today? When did you eat? I have already eaten at 12pm.
First you finished eating. Later your friend arrived. Your eating was completely finished before your friend arrives.
How many English words have you already known? And how many English words do you think you have to learn from now on? If only a word makes you feel stressed, you'd better not to study English. Otherwise, you'll definitely die due to stress.
At any rate, as with all languages. You only have to study for the basics... After that it's only using the language often, watchin tv series in English, playing games in English and in general eating and breathing English, then you'll be fine :P.
First you will finish eating udon. Later your frined will arrive. Your eating will be completely finished before watching video together.
>>883 What do you say 言うは易く行なうは難し in English? Now I remember! it's esay said than done. For example, As soon as I watch English programs on TV, I always get sleepy right away. Because I can hardly understand what they say, which means it's like torture for me. In other words, "listening to English" is synonymous with "sleeping pill" for me. What should I do?
>>893 oh well...yours is ok but what I meant was the past perfect 過去完了and puture perfect未来完了 の勉強だったので. I wish you said something like
I had already eaten soba when my friend arrived and I told a lie to him that I had eaten foie grasフォアグラfor lunch.
I will already have eaten udon when the other friend of mine arrived to my house to watch a video with me. I also will tell him a lie that I ate steak for dinner.
*I will also have eaten udon when the other friend of mine arrives to my house to watch a video with me. I will also tell him a lie that I eat steak for dinner.
My brother is always coughing in the living room. He does it each and every second. When he stopped coughing, I feel so relieved but then he starts it again. ぎゃああ!!It is too annyoing! When he is not around, this room is like a paradise!
Kazunari's in his room listening to music. Shou's listening to music in the living room. Masaki's watching TV in his bedroom. Jun's taking a nap on the couch. Satoshi's answering to question by the police in a small room.
I was reading English books aloud when I was in the nearby park a while ago. And I'm sitting in front of my computer in my study now. After lunch I'm going to the park again to play Syougi with neighbors.
I visited 4 channel after a long while. I tried to post something but I couldn't. The way we post seemed to have been changed a bit but I didn't know how to make it. Could you tell me what "kensyou" is?
I wanna speak English well. But, I don't know what I should study. Resent years, I'm study grammer and reading a wikipedia in English. If you know how to study English that you recommend, please tell me this. The way is long and long, but I won't give up. I continue studying English. Thank you.
I've studied English over past six months. When I began to study English again, I was't able to remember what I had learnd in my high school age. But one of my frieds, who is now stugying English to be a English teacher, encouraged me to study harder. Thanks for him, I managed to write English sentences like this. I'm going to keep on studying English from now on.
I think Iwao is much uglier than him, but it means nothing to me whether they are ugly or handsome. generally speaking, TV talents are more popular with girls than ordinary men in spite of thier appearances. So they probably lead a fully satisfied sex life, on the other hand, I know you ugly guy only do "shiko shiko" every day. How miserable your life is!
What the hell are these people talking about!? They must be a bunch of retards. No wonder they can't speak English after spending so much time. I bet they can't even speak properly their native language!
