Hey!!! you NEETS, nerds, Akiba maid-cafe frequenters, Youtube-link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis, Yukorin enthusiasts, Gloved hitwoman maniacs, Internet-addicted housewives-in-therapy, Diplomats' spoiled sons, Losers who can't remember Kanji characters, Big-boobs fans, Morons in the Red Square who believe Tokyo is the promised land, and Weaboos from all over the world,
>>3 Not only that the whole people in the ad can't even speak Japanese right. Next time use real Japanese please. I would be happy to die for the cause that's dear to my heart.
Is there such a thing as a 'reverse weeaboo' in Japan? We were discussing this on 4chan the other day. A person who is obssessed with American culture but doesn't like his own culture?
>>8 Thorwing insulting words to >>1 is very common in 2channel. Don't take those offensivfe words as they are. They actually mean the exact opposit, meaning in reality, giving a pat on >>1's back.
I don't browse /b/, you may be surprised to hear that a lot of 4channer from other boards hate /b/tards. They consider them a 'cancer' because all they do is do 'raids'.
I pesonally don't like flasy aspect of 80s culture. In japan there was anzentitai whose members wore like gigolo. fashion of 80s are not good taste. gay or gigolo.
Last painkiller I gave to my anus But the very next moment, I knew it won't work This time to share this uhoish feeling I'll insert it in someone else's anus
I wanted to say ホスト in english. ホスト(host) seems to be japanese english and the occupation seems to be distinctive one japan. How can I express in English?
Haha, no - /a/ is a little better than /b/. It used to be a lot better.
The Board has been divided now into /jp/ and /a/ though.
A lot of the smaller boards /fa/, /trv/ etc... Are a lot better. /v/ used to be good but not so much anymore, largely because the same few games (Brawl and Team Fortress 2) get spammed over and over again. Leaving little discussion for any other games.
I'm not a good singer. But I can play bass^^ I think X-Japan should do a Wham cover song. The fashion style is similar hehe. Well In X-Japan's early days anyway. That big hair was amazing!
KG very much likes to use the word [face] so often. And also loves to explain himself pretending other anonymous. That's why he is found out so easily everytime.
In fact he is mostly active from 2am to 12am. So I doubt if he is an American.
>>58 Not everyday. Inserting it is not so difficult but the image of inserting in anus is SOOoooo miserable! If I exaggerate the feeling, It's like my self esteem is shattered in pieces.
>>61 At least nobody has to watch you, so nobody else knows you have to do this. People on the street won't even think it. To them, you are just a Clark Kent.
>>60 KG comes to 2ch, which is an anonymous board, and criticizing anonymous posters for being anonymous. That's kind of nonsense to begin with. He's stupid like that. He might say something worth a listen, but he's already created way too many enemies.
>>60 Okay. So you'd better remember he seems to be born at Kyoto, Japan. Now he isn't saying it too much, but sometimes other 2ch people are trying to kid him about it. If somebody said [Kyoto] then he is not real KG.
Add it to your detective pocketbook too. ^^ But you must be mo happy to ban the word [KG] with 2ch browsers.
Yes, I was just checking out his videos on youtube. It is nice that he makes the effort, but he doesn't seem to like 2ch very much. What is the opinion of 2ch on 2chan (futaba)?
>>45 "Host" is not an occupation, at least in America. Though sometimes waiters will call themselves that. Caterers may as well. Maybe you are thinking of something like escort services?
Hahaha, KGKGKG... Still not in Wikipedia, right? lol
KGKGKG's a totally stupid git. He is a Japanese Youtuber, considered to be about 35 y/o, living in Kyoto. He has a strong white fetish and chases girls in thier teens-to-early 20's on the internet. He's a frequent user of 2ch, especially where female youtubers are concerned - Emily and Magibon are top in his list. KGKGKG is the admin of 7ch, where your IP codes will be stored. He advertises the board in 2ch, while he says 2ch is useless. The creepy man often flames people using 2ch. He often says, "Do vlogging! and show your face!". Even though someone tries to convince him that many of us show somewhere on the internet, but not in 2ch, he ignores it and call people wimps. The fact that he keeps posting in 2ch mirrors his true intention. He's just an attention whore and so he keeps trolling. If there were a death note dropped from the Shinigami realm, it goes without saying his name would be written first thing the moment when one gets it. The problem is, he's using an alias. I guess his name is Kenji, but I'm not sure about his sir name.
>>76 That looks like an escort. However, escort services here are usually cover for prostitution. Few men have interest in paying a woman just to keep them company.
>>78 Cover for prostitution might be exaggeration here. But "hosts" keep company with their guests? in their private time and "hosts" are awarded valuable wrist watch and sports car and stuff like that. I think they go so far as to sleep with their guests too. But it's not official service and can't do in "host club".
>>74 I watched two of his recent videos (one about the white-eyed bird, in the other one he was walking to a temple), and I thought they were pretty good, actually.
>>82 Ok. Not that I saw all of his videos, but from a few that I watched, he's trying to hit on a white girl by response videos, and remember when he talks in Japanese, he sounds really gross as well as well as writes in 2ch. :D
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=mXi8xWYMg4s Ahaha. He is more neat and look yougher than I thought he is. It takes a lot of courage for Jobless japanese pervert in his thirties to show his face. He is brave or blatant?
I nearly forgot that I promised to come. This sentence is from dictionary. I always wonder why sentence following after that clause can not be like "I had promised to come". Thinking about tense, the time of promise is ealier than the time of forgeting. So I thought past perfect was appropriate. I sensuously know I may be wrong. But the more theoretically I try to think, the more i can't understand.
>>101 "I nearly forgot that I promised to come" and "I nearly forgot that I had promised to come" are both correct but have very slightly different meaning.
The first one you would say for an ongoing occasion thats happening right now, the "i had promised to come" would be pointed at an occasion that is already over.
For example if your friend calls you from a party and asks you where are you, you can say "I forgot (that) I promised to come" But if your friend asks the next day why you didnt come to the party, you can say "I forgot I had promised to come"
Are certain Latin phrases considered part of the vernacular in English? I mean, in an academic sense I hear them all the time and you obviously wouldn't describe a particular resolution to say... a current conflict as ending in a 'status quo ante bellum', but generally - things such as 'ipso facto' - outside of a literary context, are they acceptable to use?
>>1 Thanks! phew!! the chat threads are running too fast. I can hardly follow the conversation here. lol and need quite a long time to read the previous thread. I gave up...^^;
>Red Square who believe Tokyo is the promised land >Diplomats' spoiled sons
these two are the same person?
>Yukorin enthusiasts
they are no longer here. I don't see the comment "yukorin's fart" etc anymore
Thou hast cometh to the utmost of desolate boards, amongst the beknownst and the unbeknownst. Is it benevolence thou seeks? I hast long been a lacertilian, but also mal du pays.
>>105 As you say, those are known as 'terms of art' and absolutely proper when used by workers or students in those fields. When it comes to using them out of their fields, however, the danger is that those unfamiliar with the terms won't know their meaning. It is perfectly acceptable to use such phrases, though, within everyday conversation (if the occasion calls for it). However, if you use such phrases ad infinitum, people may think of you as overly pompous or some sort of snob.
>>106 We had two Russians (both from Moscow), so those were the 'Morons in the Red Square' (though to be fair, only one of them acted like one). Diplomats' spoiled sons are myself and a guy from Brazil (I think) who dropped by a month or two ago. Haven't seen Amerikajin-san since around Thanksgiving...
The dictionary shows only one past participle, so it doesn't have to make itself clear of any order. -------------------------------- I don't get it. especially the part of "The dictionary shows only one past participle". the dictinary means your dictionary? And there is no past participle in the sentence I picked from dictionary. Do you mean we don't have to distinguish time order when it's apparent?
>>104 Thank you. difficult. but somewhat stimulating. I suppose in the latter version there are three tense. now, past, past perfect. In the former version, forgot is past tense but it has just occured. so almost what's now happening. Is this assumption related?
Verily dear friend I feel that my presence hear is to enlighten, what am I seeking? Whom knows. Does one seek for 'benevolence' or does it seek one out?
That is a matter for the philosophers, idle sophists spinning yarns of verbose prose in my opinion.
>>106 oh is that so? I see. thanks for your descriptions! I just can't figure out which one is which precicely or just that I'm not used to this kind of board yet. anonymous conversation is difficult to follow sometimes lol but it works well because it gives us less responsibilities. haha
>>111 Ah, sorry, it does have two past participles: 'forgot' and 'promised' (the first being irregular). If there was no conjugation with the word "that", then past perfect would have to be used. "I nearly forgot. I had promised to come." shows that the promise came first, and the nearly forgetting later.
You could correctly say "I nearly forgot that I had promised to come.", but in this case, the 'had' is not necessary as the order of events is apparent from the conjugation.
but sometimes I find some very very nice writings and poems, lyrics. in that case, I try to copy and paste it to my file. Also I think this kind of everyday chatting of random theme would improve my writing and reading skills rather than having a dragging work with a boring text book by my own. ^^
>>117 That's a good idea. Always makes things more interesting when you can talk about what you want, rather than work through textbooks. So please do feel free to join in!
>>114 I'm not a diplomat, but my father was a Consul in New York, Israel, Malaysia, Canada and Hong Kong. He was a High Consul in Singapore and Ethiopia, and Deputy to High Commissioner in Germany.
sorry to interrupt. I didn't mean to ignore your conversation, but I'm Japanese and it looks too hard for me to join your conversation. so let me just continue to write whatever I want.
I just heard that Obama's popularity exceeded over Hillary. I used to belived American would prefer the strong person who aggressively beat up the opponents but seeing the street interviews in U.S, people are saying Hillary's aggressiveness is turning off or something. (well only some ppl said so), and Obama's speech sounds more reasonable and shows more relaxed smile.
one more funny thing i've heard is that one of our small rural city called 小浜市(obama city) is so excited to have Mr Obama and claims that they support him at full power lol. I don't know how would the governor support Mr Obama from far east. lol financially or what? but anyway, they manufacturerd some suveniors of rice cakes called Obama manju or something to appeal people in Japan and world? lol
>>116 isnt this slightly off? the meaning of past perfect tense and past tense are slightly different. refer to my previous post >>104 This is pretty insignificant though.
>>119 yeah, I once saw you were saying that. I recognize your international observations to the world. I like people who stays at the border. lol (I don't mean those who stay in the dangerous state mentally lol). People who's grown up internationally.
>>123 The whole premise of past perfect is to indicate an order of time, while past tense is simple something which happened in the past. This is what I'm trying to explain in >>116. Past perfect would be used instead of simple past if the conjugation wasn't there, which is why the dictionary example makes sense. In your example, you could still say to your friend (calling you from the party), "I nearly forgot I'd promised to come!" and be situationally correct.
>>127 It always amused me after finding out Amerikajin-san was a Johnny's girl. Wonder if she's gone to run after them. I assume you're one too?
Bah, forgot my name after clearing the form data and stuff. Need to try and contact my webhost to try and cancel the account and get a refund. They said cancellation could be done in writing, but just got a mail back saying I need to phone them. I don't like phones much...
>>128 yes yes. lol It's funny yeah, Arashi always make me smile whenever I see them on TV or on pictures, internet etc. But Kat-Tun is not my type. They seem like dating with many many women everyday lol they seem slutty. lol I like more ordinary type boys. Internet spreads more information of our minor talento of Johnny's. lol I noticed many fans overseas are talking about the minor bands sucn as kanjani and other dancing boys on back lol
>>133 Can't really say I'm a fan, but some of those groups can be quite entertaining on variety shows (such as うたばん), especially when the topic is completely random.
electrocute? ok thanks (new word..so I took a memo). I don't know where those fan girls come from exactly when I see the fan communities of Johnnys but I see many girls from Europe. I'm sure it is not one of the majority and probably she's being bullied and kicked out from the schoolmates. lol
I've heard one boy is bullied by his classmates because of his kinky? taste of music. He claimed he loves Hikawa Kiyoshi and his dream is to be an Enka Kashu one day. lol
Sorry to interrupt your convo but just need to clarify something. Please continue your fan-talk..
>>106 True. Some can be dropped soon, but "Internet-addicted housewives-in-therapy" must be kept because 米人 was one of the best posters and her posting is still anticipated. This thread more or less lacks a mother figure and that's been a burden to イギリス人 and others to some extent (sometimes he has to play that role, like baking a cake for everyone here). "Red Square who believe Tokyo is the promised land" can be omitted, since now there's the 'Weeaboos' in >>1. "Yukorin enthusiasts" can go too, but it's like one of the oldest descriptions. So I'm not sure if anyone should touch that.
Anyway, do u know Kiyokiba ?he is very hot musician!like Ozaki's beautiful voice. I like him so much!!and am going to the his live consert.looking forword seeing!as his songs, for example,"SAYONARAITOSHIIHITOYO" influenced me. this song was sung so sad.but also hot.I can find his soul. he is so money!!!!!!1
>>138 that's what mazed me all the time too. So I'm also waiting for the native speaker's answer.
>lacks a mother figure and that's been a burden to イギリス人 and others to some extent (sometimes he has to play that role, like baking a cake for everyone here).
I sure miss 米人, too. I hope she didn't get bored with this thread. Maybe she can't post to 2ch, although she can read posts. Or she got back to reality where she thinks talking with anonymous people produce nothing worthwhile and wasting time is not what matured adult should do.
I haven't seen keira around these days. I hope she is doing all right.
>>138 I'd help you out but I really don't know how to explain the differences. I'm not an english teacher so it's quite challenging to explain how the differences work between those sentences.
All I can say is:
"How about we have dinner at a fancy restraunt?"
"That sounds good!" Is correct and "I don't like that." I guess is also correct, but it would sound better to say "I don't like that idea."
Actually now that I think about it even more, I really don't think it matters. Just go with what you think sounds better- I think "That sounds good" sounds more correct, but to be honest both ways of saying it still make sense.
So basically, there is no real difference.
Oh and "Did it": Refers to what he did. "Did so": Refers to how he did what he did.
Hey everyone. I'm a U.S. Marine stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, in Okinawa. I'll try to help answer questions as thoroughly as possible.
I'm 22 years old, and married to a beautiful Okinawan lady named Yukiko (有紀子). I can speak Japanese, but I'm far from fluent.
"He was asked to answer questions about english grammar." "And he did it." It still makes sense, but I would personally just drop the "it" and say "And he did." It just sounds more fluent this way.
"He was asked to answer questions about English grammar as precisely as possible." "And he did so." This is also correct. You can make it more informal by simply dropping the "so" and saying "And he did." But both are still fine. :)
Oh, for those not in the know, "yattaa" is a famous Japanese phrase especially in America because Hiro Nakamura use it in an American drama. :D And when he proclaims "yattaa!", it's subbed as "I did it!"
>>159 I despise the military members who rape women. You're right--99 percent of the military is decent--and I think that the ones who commit crimes should be punished very harshly. It really angers me that we have idiots among us who like to cause trouble, because their crimes cause the Japan to hate us. Right now, *all* military members are being punished, even though only two military guys have committed rape.
>>162 As you know very well, there are Japanese men who are starving for sexual pleasure. Those men *also* rape little girls. Please don't blame it on Americans only, because people from every country on this earth commit rape.
>>167 yeah, everybody's same. I think the injured party (the high school girl) is also a criminal. becuase even she's underage, she went to the place where she can meet american marines. many japanese girls think it's cool to date with foreigners. and offer her body without hesitations lol
>>167 Don't take it personally but a big difference in this case is, the U.S marines are allowed to be stationed in Japan because of the Japan-US security treaty, and they are not punished under the Japanese law (if they aren't caught red-handed or by the Japanese police). They can get away with it. That's just unfair.
And according to an editorial on the newspaper, American troops in the Europe are well disciplined and so respected. Why some of them think it's ok not to be respectful if stationed in Asia? No offence.
>>169 I agree, but I think that the Marine should still be punished very harshly for causing many problems for Japanese and Americans throughout Japan.
>>170 Those Marines are still sent to a military prison if they are convicted. They are not free of the crime. I believe that the difference is in how Japanese and Americans look at courts (裁判). In America, you are always innocent until you are proven to be guilty. In Japan, as I hear, if there is a need to go to court for a crime, you are thought to be guilty unless your lawyer can prove you are innocent. The treaty is to protect Americans from unfair court proceedings, not to make them immune from the law.
>>172 puwahahaha this post is funny. why 1% is starving? lol
in Japan I don't know but I've seen so many militaries in South east asia buying prostitutes. but Japanese business men do the same thing in Thailand, phillipines etc.. so we can't blame only americans. countries with power (rich) can make a playing of the girls of countries with no power (poor). sad but it is the fact.
fryday -> Friday "You want to date with me? What about it's on fryday?" This is tricky, I'm not sure how to explain it. But it sounds really bad when you say it like that.
"You want to date with me?" Date can't be used like that in this context. Why? I don't know, but it just sounds wrong. :( I can't explain it, lol
It would make sense if the person asked you first: "Will you go out on a date with me?" Then you could say: "You want to date me?" But that's rude!
"What about it's on friday?" Also sounds wrong. It's better to drop "it's" and say: "What about on Friday?" This sounds much more fluent and correct.
I can't explain WHY, sorry. I'm not an english teacher. :(
>>188 Sorry, I made a mistake again. You can have questions with "it is" in that order. But in the context of: "What about it is _______", it needs to be "is it"
>>190 Is that really so? I heard many people say something like this "But.... what about we go to Target and get a soda?" "what about we go to the movie?"
I can't explain but "what about do we go there?" sounds wierd. Why?
>>194 Oh, I see what you mean now. All of those examples do make sense, but I can't explain why.
"What about do we go there?" Does sound wrong though... I would say: "How about we go there?"
You ask really good questions that make me think hard about my own language. I've never really thought about that kind of stuff, and it's confusing even me. lol
>>213 ahh yeah, but I want to stay away from her for a while. she doesn't understand me at all so I just wrote sentimental way to make her feel scared to get in touch with me. if I would write "bye" only, she would casually contact me again.

>>224 Are you asking if we have any oinions about weeaboo? If so it's kind of honored for many are crazy about things Japanese even if their understanding of things Japanese are just from anime and scratching surface.
I don't know how it's like to have them around me, though. Maybe I'd fed up with lots of questions about animes. Anyway, they can come to Japan and have hands-on experiences. Some might come to realize reality, some get deep into their weeaboos way of thinking about things Japanese.
Is it OK to browsing websites that's not related to your duty? Your system in base grasp all of your online activities.
>>228 Yeah, it's hard for us to use such words properly. Even if we know basic rules, when it comes to use those words, we make mistakes. After all, there are no such notion of mas nouns, countable, uncountable and all that jazz.
Many people don't study hard, including English after entering university and our interest is not to make mistakes in entrance exam of uni when you encounter a question about say, "choose correct nouns"
Weeaboos can't be translated into Japanese. And believe me, the term is not known to most Japanese. I recently knew what it means, but it's because I do understand some English and surf on the Net (english).
>>232 Oh Yeah? I can hear AFN radio (not that of Okinawan)and if my memory serves right, in the ad of the radio station, it raised awareness not to browse irrelavant websites on duty. It's not the matter of illegal or not, but the matter of work ethic of Marine Corps.
>is there a Japanese word for "weeaboo" or do you just say "weeaboo"? Nope. I didn't know the words such as wapanese or weeaboo. So there are no Japanese words for that. I hadn't known the words until someone from 4ch explained the meaning of the words.
>235 Is there an equivalent term for Japanese who are American-obsessed (or obsessed with some other English-speaking country)?
>234> I have studied a little Japanese (enough to make a fool of myself) and I have always had trouble remembering all the 'counter words', like "nin" for people, or "sai" for years old.
Today I have someting to say to 米海兵隊の軍人さん. Don't regard the opinions that broadcasters or commentators are saying on TV as Japanese general opinions please. And also find that many people in Okinawa have the different personalities and tastes compared to ordinary Japanese.
They tend to hate whole Japan and our friendly nations loving their roots, history and originalities. It's not always bad however they are often acting much politically, you know. These kind of incidents are supposed to be happened everyday. Beware of that fact.
Though I know Okinawa people are feeling heavy loads on their shoulders.
>>244 Thank you. I understand that they are acting politically. I have talked to many Okinawans, including my wife and her family, and they all think that only the person who committed the crime should be punished. I think that only the newspapers and a small number of Okinawan people who strongly oppose the military are making the most noise, but those few people have cause all of us to be confined to our bases ;_;
>>238 I understand it's hard to remember "nin" "sai"...to name a few. No equivlant word but if you add "かぶれ”You can mean almost the same notion. If you are America かぶれ then you think things American are all cool. If you are France かぶれ the you think anything French is cool.
Sometimes when you come back from America as an exchange student or whatever purpose, you tend to be America かぶれ。Even if you don't go to USA, you can be America かぶれ by heavliy influenced by American music or Hollywood movies.
I heard million peple gathered to oppose the problems concerning descriptions in the text book of Japanese history. It never happened in whole Japan except Okinawa.
But I understand you must be happy to be with good partner.:) Take care of yourself and your family.
>>248 Yes, a million people did gather to oppose the text book editing. On that day, the streets were crowded with people walking to the convention center and the traffic was backed up for miles. But the people opposing the military only make small protests with maybe one hundred people at a time. It seems so silly and worthless to make such a small protest...
>>802 I don't like her either. Well, it's not she is annoying but what really bothers me is those who are too obsessed with her and internet tough guys that splatter *raaaaagee!!1* against her on Youtube and other forums.
>>264 I know I knew it I knew it. how can China admit their fault. China is the country that never admit the fault even they killed one in front of 1 millino witnesses, they say "I've never done such a thing". chinese is that kind of race.
I have lived in China for several years, I've gone through so many bitter experiences dealing with them. when I'd gain something they'd try to steal it from me, and when they are in trouble, they lay the blame at my door.
>>266 And I just wanna ask this Hi-Tec Marine living in Okinawa. I've never been there.. But I know FamilyMart is only convini atanding there. I heard that in 2ch. LOL
As you remember , My pinup raising sexual excitation for masturbation is Yoko Oshita. I masturbate imagining the scene that Yoko Osita fights to Fukumi Kuroda. I do it intense so as to destroy my penis. In my onanism kingdom, Yoko Oshita is unrivaled. I don't forgive whoever dirty her. And she is not alone ! !Yuna Kim is similar, too. Learn it properly!
but when I came back to Japan, I discovered China is more comfortable place to live. they are clear in black and white. if only we know the way to protect ourselves, it's ok to deal with Chinese. also we shoudn't expect the honestry from them. they, I mean we are conscience ...but it depends it depends on how often you listen to it. those who doesnt hear it, they are what we termed as inhumane. I think thru the long history of China, they have fought too often and lost this so called "ear" to hear others' voices.
>>268 I'm happy that you realise that cheesecake is a very high priority topic. Might bake one in the enxt day or two, but not a Saitama one this time. Cheesecakes are more limited in decoration than normal cakes, but also easier to make.
I finally finished to read your explanations and ヨーロッパ人さん's one. But the situations around third neutral noun and your hat ! maybe going to be more complicated to me.. I'll try again at next chance that I use those expressions. ^^;
And about cheescake. Japanese elder females who love English way of living seem to have the cake with some berrysouces. As for me, I love it with marmalades best ! But cheescakes in Japan are often sweet enough for eating only itself. It maybe different from English one..
Also about the cat I'm keeping.. He loves kind of chees so much ! (I mean, he loves too.) But now he seems to be so sorry to say to much prefer the Camemberl to the Cheddar. XD Just nothing...
Thank you so much again for your explanations. They help a lot not only me but not a few Japanese here. :D
My onanism kingdom called another name "the world that women suppress". I pick up my penis at two finger-tips and I stop breath and shakes it up and down intense ! My dream to prick Yoko Oshita'anus with my penis, and to let her fight against Fukumi Kuroda. You must consider my propensity!
>>284 English cheesecakes are much the same, but some people find them too plain without sauces, even though they are sweet. Personally, I like just some sort of fruity sauce, and maybe some berries too. Do you use a fork or a spoon to eat it?
Your cat's taste seems to have matured with age. Maybe in time, I'll like Camembert more than Cheddar, but my taste is not so sophisticated as your cat's.
>>285 Originally, Spar is a Dutch company (which operates internationally as Spar but, of course, we knew that already), but it operates under the names Hotspar in Japan and Eurospar in Ireland as well. As they say in the UK, "So near, so SPAR".

>>291 イギリス人さん you also love camemberl... Now my cat is on my knees and saying "Yes he is right. I know."
I think the baked one must be on the table with fork. And if rarecakes has baked foundations, then fork must be needed. I don't know much about English table manners but it isn't reasonable thought. is it ?
Actually, if you hit Yoko Oshita's skull and Fukumi Kuroda's skull at full speed , Which is broken ,Yoko Oshita's skull or Fukumi Kuroda's skull ? I expect in your scientific intelligence. And about Mona Yamamoto'pelvis and Yoko Osita's pelvis,Which is tough? And How about the bone density?
>>294 Camembert is a sort of French cheese. It's really creamy because it matures in mold.
>>293 Ah, your cat is generous. As for cheesecake, some people use forks, and some use spoons. Those who use spoons usually have more runny toppings such as sauces, so the spoon can be used to catch more of this (as it goes straight through a fork).

Hi, Europe man! I've always said "I've caught a cold" so far but I just saw the sentence that said, "I've caught cold." What's the difference between "a cold" and "cold"?
>>327 "I've caught a cold" is proper at least. Where did you see this "I've caught cold" sentence? Always remember there's a lot of improper English grammar around in the internet. Don't trust everything you see Anyway, the sentences basically mean the same thing. While i'm not 100% sure if the latter is grammatically incorrect. cold is a sickness and you catch one of them, so it's "a". you leave out the "a" for example when you have a little bit of a substance. For example, if you "eat a bread" it means you eat a whole bread. If you "eat bread", the sentence doesnt tell how much bread you eat. It can be a small part of a bread or it can be more than just one bread.
>>324 × everyday is sunday 〇 every day is caturday >>329 But you can't really say "eat a bread" either. You have to use something like "eat a loaf of bread" in English. Either way, "catch cold" is just wrong.
As far as I'm aware, "catching cold" (or any condition, for that matter) is somewhat of an Americanism (and only used in some parts). The more accepted standard is to use the article 'a', and say "catch a cold".
>>333 No, I can't think of any. But I can think of a couple where the subject changes, like "have dinner" vs "have a meal". Different words, used differently.
i guess just fixing the example could work out the best.
"have a (loaf of) bread" vs "have bread" "have a (jar of) yoghurt" vs "have yoghurt" etc.
I'm sure there must be some word that can be used like that, though. Having different meaning with and without a, both being grammatically correct. I just can't think of any right now.
>>334 Interesting that you should choose to ask specifically about citizenship, instead of just "where are you from?".
On the front of EU passports (at least the ones I have seen), "European Union" is actually written above the name of the country. The implication might be that we are all citizens of the EU *first*, and inhabitants of a particular country only as a second.
>>337 I think 'bread' wasn't too good an example because it's one of those words where the singular is the same as plural. Such words often need a sort of singular counter noun to indicate a whole one: "A loaf of bread" "A grain of rice" "A wheel of cheese" instead of "A bread" "A rice" "A cheese"
>>335 A friend's father caught malaria, though. And some people in my parents' generation "caught" cancer. Well, I guess that second example is pretty bad...
Could it be that "X" instead of "an X" is more often used for "traditional" diseases? (I'm not sure how to put this in a good way.)
On the other hand, you would say that someone "had a stroke", etc...
>>342 Sometimes people start to type a similar reply before the page is up to date and see that someone else has replied, which is what I did there. I think this is why it's a good idea to restrict actual English- language conversation to its own thread, rather than just in chat.
>>350 I honestly do believe that a million people were at the protest that day. I saw such a large number of people with my own eyes that I have no choice but to believe the newspapers.
イギリス人さん へ >>116 >Ah, sorry, it does have two past participles: >'forgot' and 'promised' I think 'forgot' is past form and 'forgotten' is past partidiple. So I got confused.
>If there was no conjugation with the >word "that", then past perfect would have to be used. What does conjugation mean? Do you mean "that clause" by conjugation? dictionary says ━━ n. (動詞の)変化; 【生物】接合. (動詞の)変化 means forget, forgot, forgotten, for example.
Do you mean the sentence following after 'that clause' would be considered as de facto past perfect without past perfect?
Now that many English speakers are here, I'd like to ask the same question in order to understand how to use "it" and "that" more properly.
In advance, I must say I got a reply from an American guy. (I'm thankful to him) But I'm still a bit confused. So if it is ok with you guys, please teach me by what criteria you choose "it" or "that".
A : I love hunbergers. B : Oh, that's nice. / Oh, it's nice.
From what I understand, both are correct, probably. But what's different? Please shed any light on this.
>>353 Sorry, I explained it badly! I meant 'conjunction' rather than 'conjugation'. I blame the time of night (though really it was just my stupidity).
However, you understand my meaning well, because your final question is also the answer.
>>354 'that' refers to the piece of information they are receiving, so that is the one would be used, as >>355 says. I'll try and explain it better once I'm done cleaning...
Wouldn't it be easier to use 'Variton7' in the 名前 field?
And just wondering, but what have people here eaten today? I need something interesting to make.
>>343 among many other things, apparentl >>344 I guess I'm a little bit of a younger generation so I don't really have an opinion. I don't exactly hate it, but it's not relevant to my interests. >>354 I'll get to this now that I have time. This requires some thinking
Oh, you might say I'm stubburn, but as I said before (you probably don't know, though), I like it this way. :D
And I had two slices of roast beef and tarako spagetti. Have you ever heard of tarako? It's a fish egg. (probably "that" wouldn't be suitable in this case, right?)
>>354 A : I love hunbergers. B : Oh, that's nice. / Oh, it's nice.
^basically the first sentence "Oh, that is nice" is "oh, that (you love hamburgers) is nice"
"it" is used more in a situation like this: A: Hey have you tried the new pizza place yet? B: Yeah, I love it. (it -> the pizzaplace)
"it" refers more to the actual subject where as "that" refers to the phenomenon (couldn't figure out a better word for this) I hope someone else can explain this better, or correct me if I'm totally off.
>>360 Oh, tarako! I've seen those really creepy commercials with those tarako doll things marching or spinning around, while the children watch them in shock. I had a nightmare about those, once.
(And you've got it - the fish egg is something general in that case, so you use 'it'.)
Thank you for your reply while you are busy on your job. You are working to help people! It must be a respectful job. I hope I also will be able to work for people, especially for peace of the world some day. I wanted to study abroad because I wanted to broaden horizon internationally.
Thank you so much for taking day off on 29th February for me! As for bags, it is a good idea to buy one after I arrive the U.S. Thank you for your good advice!
My doctor told me that my wisdom teeth were deep down inside the tooth pocket, and touching the nerve. That is why it became a difficult operation and the operation took long time (3.5 hours). A friend said, " It's funny to pull out your wisdom teeth before you go abroad", but I decided to get an operation so that something worse will never happen in the U.S.. I guess it is going to be all right because the pain and swellings are gradually relieving day by day.
As for school, our class orientation will start on March 3rd. On the first day of the orientation, we will have a placement test. I am a little scared about that test because my English skill might get messed up, since I did not take time to study English for more than a month because of university exams, the operation, and so on.
Though I am poor at speaking English, I will do my best to improve my speaking skills. I am leaving Japan and meeting you today!

There really wasn't much to correct... Anyway, hope you have a safe flight, and I'm sure you'll have a fun and educational time while there! It'll give you a very good chance to practice your actual speaking. I've heard that Japanese students of English rarely get much speaking practice in class (depending where you attend, anyway).
There's a thread for Nick, an American guy, who is really fluent in Japanese. If you are learning Japanese and want to know how to improve your Japanese, pay a visit and ask him how. If you are learning English and want to talk with him, he'd be more than happy to have a chat with you.
I asked him to come, but he probably keeps to his threads, so just go say hello to him. If he come here, please welcome him.

One more thing to remember, you seemed to forget the legendary game machines made by Atari ! I just said 8 bit and it also implies those. I bought almost NEW atari 2600 last year and keep it in my closet. LOL Just FYI. And I'm looking forward tonight to listening to the radio you told me before!

In order to release my pent-up stress towards Chinese (china), I’ve started to join the activities of 嫌中国 recently. I am enthusiastically doing these activities to advocate how horrible Chinese are. I won’t hesitate to say this.
the large-scale massacre in Nanjing南京大虐殺 is only choice to survive for our ancestors decided to do to.. I would say it is justified to commit. Because after knowing obsessive annoyance of chinese as the race, who wouldn't like to kill them? Having them part of our member in this planet, is there any chance we could live safe?
Ever since I came back to Japan, I started to feel that the difference of life in China and Japan. I sometimes feel by mistake that China is more comfortable society because their mentalities are more simple. But in a few minutes, I shock my head very hard. whenever I remember the bitter memories of pictures being in China gives me the seething angers. You never know how I hate Chinese. Whenever I hear even one word of "中", I feel a goose pimples all over my body. I will never forgive Chinese.
They are horrible. I can't just explain by the words how すざましい they are... They killed my dearest one. He committed a suicide because of the persistent abuse done day by day by them. I lost all the properties for their fraud.
If you ever happened to meet one Chinese by bad luck, be careful. Really careful! Even if one would look innocent, his heart is livid. They only thing they care about is their profit, their health, their own happiness. and their familie's happiness. they care their family very much because "family members" are only the people they can trust. do you know why? they lie all the time 24 hrs. but they believe family members won't lie to you even you lie to anyone in this world. lol. They are cunning. They are persistent. They eat up everything until you die. Except what they don’t eat with legs are only tables. That’s right. They really eat up everything. They are inhuman. I will never visit China. If I’d visit someplace where I feel the air of Chinese, I would immediately leave. They are rotten.
Their only good points are “they are persistent". So they should get reincarnated as the cockroaches. that's the best way not to waste their good points. I hate them. I do hate them. I hope they all die. I'll never forgive them. I feel only happy when I work as a part of the 嫌中国activists.
Do you like the woman that cheek is plump? And Don't you think that you want to rub Reiko Takashima's cheek with sandpaper? Will blood flow from Reiko Takashima's cheek if You rub it how many times? How about Azusa Mano?
>>382 Thank you for your concern. I'm not so absent. Actually, >>7>>20>>43>>50>>52>>61 are my posts. Couldn't sleep that night.
Around the end of the last thread(part104), on the same night this thread was made, I posted a message in which I vented my frustration after going through excruciating pain in my foot. On that night, severe pain lasted longer than 2 hours and I was groaning, sometimes cried out like an animal and limping in circles in the room where I sleep to destract my attention from the pain. Of course I put a uho pinkiller in my anus but as usual, it didn't work.
I go to hospital to get IV drip treatment every day even on Saturdays and Sundays. My doctor told me last Tuesday my foot condition is getting better although he agrees with me in that the pace of recovery is very slow. There's nothing special he nor I can do about it. Cold weather is bad for my foot so it's a good news that spring is coming.
If my current foot conditon is settled, asking another doctor for the second opinon might be a good idea. It's not that I don't trust my doctor. I like him (not in a uho way) and I respect him. He works really hard and always nice to patients not showing any bits of arrogance you often see in a doctor.

If I go to Japan, and a guy comes up to me and punches me in the face one evening when I'm out, does that mean that all Japanese people are bad people? No, it just means that the one guy that punched me in the face is a bad guy.
Meh, why am I trying to explain this to you anyway? You probably don't understand what I mean anyway.

I have a 12 gauge shotgun sitting right next to me, it's loaded with 4 rounds. Double-Ought buckshot. I plan on putting the barrel in my mouth, and painting the wall with my blood and brains. It will be quick.
By the way, Does his english accent have a distinctive non-native tone? I heard he was bullied for his thick accent. I couldn't notice. He sounded like a perfect native american on the video.
The door is locked, nobody else is home, I've figured out a way to pull the trigger with my foot, the gun is propped up against my bed. I must admit I'm a little nervous.
Waving the hand gun around and pointing it on his head, I like his move. His face expression is good too. Anguished, afflicted face.. How many sorrows had he experienced? He wants friend. But he was blunt.. He rarely spoke back when spoken to. What an irony. Perhaps He could make relations with the world by shooting.
His teachers didn't help his case, they taught him only Marxist thought. They convinced him that he was an oppressed victim, so of course he lashed out.
So why you keep 12 gauge shotgun here in Japan ? Are you qualified with it ? Did you use to be a French mercenary or kinnda a Green Beret ? I never heard that.

>>551 Why are low whites called white trash? You don't distinguish black or spanish like this way.
the word white trash is based on the assumption that whites are usually noble. blacks and spics are mostly trash. so you don't have to make distinction.
>>555 There are a lot of wealthy Blacks in my area. It's kind of odd how many stereotypes are filtered out when they leave our shores. We have Black Confederates, White Socialists, Mexican Republicans, and plenty of large groups of people that you wouldn't expect.
>>552 'Should have' indicates there is an almost certain chance of something happening, but it doesn't happen. Such as if a tennis player is served an easy shot but misses, "they should have hit the ball". If someone very good at mathematics takes a maths exam but fails, "they should have passed the exam".
Another use of "should have" is when someone (or something) is supposed to do something. "He should have cleaned the dishes", "she should not drink so much".
>>560 So In the case of "He should have cleaned the dishes", could either be possible, actually cleaning the dishes or actually not cleaning the dishes.
should have implies the fact indicent actually didnot happen. But is there any 'should have' case that says simply should have, not caring about what really happened.
In japanese 彼はもっと勉強すべきだったhe should have studied more, means also he didn't study as required. But literally it just means at that time he should (have) studied more... Do you understand me? I know my english is not enough.

Just don't think about your problem too much. It can kill you. You might need a solution to it, but dwelling on it won't get you anywhere. Make a plan to get out of your place so you can be exicited about.
Why not escape, if it's killing you? I wouldn't think till I die. I'd rather make some actions to get myself out of the situation that's suffocating me. And I'm not talking about suicide.
You can leran from anything even from this tasteless BBS. You'll see people's words, thoughts, wishes, way of living, and maybe spirits of them. Prick up your ears.
Come to think of it, it's a rather beautiful day. Quiet outside, not many cars on the street since its after lunch. Warm, sunny, and with a slight breeze.
>>566 Sorry, just made some beef bourguignon with potatoes and vegetables, so couldn't answer this sooner. There was also a show on television which often features sections about the English language (which is quite interesting, especially considering it's a comedy panel show).
If someone was supposed to clean dishes, but did not actually do it, you could say "he should have cleaned the dishes".
However, if you say "By now, he should have cleaned the dishes", then you expect him to have cleaned the dishes (but since you don't know, he may or may not have).
>>568 "As you should have guessed by now" is expecting you to have guessed, but it's not known if you have actually guessed or not. Using "by now" almost always makes it this context. The same applies to the sentence about the letter. The person is expected to have read it, but it is not known if they have or not.
>>603 Four hours? I was getting that the last time I was sick and thought I was going insane after 48 hours of that. Nine hours sounds about right, but I usually get closer to 7-8.
>>604 Apparently four hours works just fine, as long as you take your naps every four hours or so. Without that, you're a complete wreck.
I've tried "six-day week" for a while too - 8 hours sleep, then awake for 20. If you time it right, you can have an almost normal work week, and still party all night on weekends. But it never worked well for me.
AZ Guy again, as far as my sleep routine goes, I rarely take naps right now, but I get about 6-8 hours of sleep a day during the week, but I'm still sort of tired.
>>612 You're right, I did that just last week. I must have filled out 12 applications so far. Only 2 interviews though. You get all excited, you clean up, wear your Sunday best, only to find out that the interviewer refuses to even look at you. What the hell?
>>614/AZ Job hunting is its own circle of hell, and one of the most mentally taxing and degrading processes known to man. It's all about ticking the boxes, reading between the lines, and saying what they want to hear even as you know you don't really want it. The worst is when they've already found someone and aren't even trying to cover it up when fulfilling their obligations to the remaining candidates. It's extremely hard not to take it personally, and any serious job hunter begins to no matter how hard they try. In my experience, it's been easier to temp and get hired on than to actually apply properly for a job - there are no expectations going in and if you work well you can make a serious impression. The downside is working for months for little pay and no benefits first.
>>615 Well thats the main problem though, especially working for big businesses like Wal-Mart which I did over the course of the summer. My dream job would be to do a data entry job where I can just blast away until I fill my quota.
>>616 There should be plenty of those in your area, and a good temp agency can hook you up. Data entry is actually one of the best low end jobs you can get - no dealing with customers, you can jack in your ipod, and it pays pretty well for what it is.

>>624 Why do you laugh? it is okadanana's face which is more important. http://haguretanuki2005.hp.infoseek.co.jp/nana1.okada.odori.jpg I like okada's fragile and cute image. I noticed fuji tv anchorwoman nakano minako http://wwwz.fujitv.co.jp/ana/nakano/index.html resembles okada somewhat. But I don't like her. adide from the fact her face itself is as not attractive as that of okada's, I can tell her arrogance and narcissism from her face. not pure angel.
To be exact, people who I picked up were not typical idols like seiko matsuda. And There is a bit time difference between me and them. I could watch tv drama series, school wars. But atcually I didn't. I watched okada in the video. And at that time okada was alredy not in her prime time, I guess.
I was a bit suprised by the fact that Hero by bonnie taylor was rather minor hit in the uk. And lyrics are more feminine and caling for strong man. On contrary japanese lyrics are consoling and engouraging weak man...
And I didn't know Bonny taylor is welish. Her raspy, manly strong voice don't match with welsh image.(I don't know much about wales though). And her blonde hair.
Knight in white cloak on the horse come all the way to help a white woman from blacks. This situation would amuse a lot of white guys including men who couldn't speak openly, and stirring up a big controversy.
I assume the video is implying some image that I mentioned. Do I think too much?
But the video depicts old, stereotypical strong man in the south, doesn't it? So my association is not so weird. Men have to be like men. Men have to protect women and men have to wear mustache. lol
Lyrics reminds of those of enka music, which are often convenient for men, prasing men and just waiting for flirting men, or leaving women stil loving you like these. These mgiht be too old fashioned even among enka though. http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=KcgQ_PgUSmE one example. I think not exact example.
I don't like enka personally. same tone and used up lyrics.
Hehe. Before seeing the video, I try to foresee. Is he black enka singer? You are too influenced by the midia..
HaHa. But I admit he is funny. akimoto is his producer. His ways have been always blatant. just catching up with the trend and eye catching stunt. but the mass jump on his way.
yeah. I just thought he's different so I was just curious. but after listening to his voice more, I found he sings very well. he said his favorite enka singer is Itsuki Hiroshi. I can see the similarity or some influence by Itsuki from his way of singing.
It makes me perplexed why foreiners are so fabulously acquainted with Enka, of which I, who was born and brought up here in Japan, know almost nothing?
>>639 Wow! I didn't expect that I can watch Jero's enka in this thread. Actually, I saw him at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall(日比谷野外音楽堂) last year. At that time, a jazz band, Soil & Pimp Sessions, introduced him before their gig and he sang Umiyuki, which was great.
I couldn't imagine he debuted as a professional enka singer. He's going to be a great black enka singer if continuing making his effort.
>>643 It's easy for me to explain to you guys because I'm playing the guitar and singing songs. Enka is totally different from other genres of music like Rock, Jazz, Blues, R&B, Reggae and so on. It attracts lots of foreniers in terms of melody and lyrics. Enka expresses our culture and soul.
Someone introduce this Noriaki, hikikomori rapper in this thread and I became a fan of him. I found English video intoroducing him. You ppl overseas can enjoy him. It's a kind of a joke video but you can tell how attractive he is.
>>646 What a funny guy is he?(w I've never seen him in Shibuya or Yokohama. Though I had been to music bars in Tokyo and Yokohama to play the guitar before I went to Britain, I'd like to see him if I have a chance.

LET ME ASK YOU GUYS SOME QUESTIONS. HAVE YOU ALL EVER TAKEN ENGLISH TESTS? (TOEFL/TOEIC/EIKEN/SAT,FOR EXAMPLE) AND PLEASE TELL ME YOUR SCORES AND THAT HOW LONG HAVE YOU STUDIED IF YOU DO NOT MIND.
>>648 I think Jero and Victor Entertainment, a famous record company in Japan, are carrying out their business strategy to be popular among young people. What if he is wearing kimono or suits? It looks a bit strange, isn't it?
>>655 Either way, it would be some bad exploitation of the cultures, but possibly better than seeing him popping during the hook. This just doesn't work..
Well, no one seems to come to me so I will ask again here.
I have a question about the usage of “similar”. I always use this word as “The two man are similar.” But just now, I found this sentence that says "The language is similar between the two tribes." I wonder why the subject, language, is sigular. I think that “the languageS ARE similar”is right. Please explain to me about it. Thank you.
>>657 Hmm, shall I ask you a question about enka? A black young bloke mustn't sing that way? If not, have you got any idea about it?
Let me explain my case. I've been playing black music called Blues, which derives from the U.S. It's one of the popular roots music in the world. Blues music has been played by every kind of human races not just black people, but white people and Asian.
Have you watched the woman that the skin of her knee was very thick? In the days of a seventh grader , I watched it at the home of the Suizenji station. The skin of the knee of the woman was thick and strong like the skin of elephant. I wanted to sharpen it with a plane. When I thought so, my oily penis erected like an eel !
living as a gay is good becuse you can share bodies with anyone cus you just share bodies for sharing's sake

I have a big news. Just a week ago or so 清水翔太 (shimizu, famly name, shouta, given name) made a major debut (Sony music)and ranked no.5 on a weekly hit chart. He even made appearance in Music Station, Japanese famous music show, on February 22th.
He is 18 years old and said to become a next Japanese R&B icon. The impact was like that of Utada Hikaru's dubute in my opinion.
After he graduated from junior high, he didn't advance to high school and he led a life of kind of hikikomori, Neet. Actually he went to vocal school or something and tried to improve his singing skills. At the same time he honed his composing and writing skills.
What is exciting about his debut was he was a hard core 2channeler and he often appeared in 2ch and did live streaming radio broadcast in 2ch. Even at that time, he was really good and got lots of applause from us, like, "You can be a pro" or "Make your dream come true!" But here is 2ch. I often see him being vervally abused or ridiculed in 2ch.
He accepted request and sang his original songs or famouse artist songs even anime songs in his internet radio. He had an account in Yahoo Briefcase and store his audio files. I think he was lonely, living a life of kind of like a neet. Almost every boys in his age go to high school but he didn't.
To make up for his loneliness, I think he inerected with people in 2ch. He even had Skype account and chatted with strangers met in 2ch. He even had mix account, the most famous Japanese SNS. His 2ch name was あめじ(ameji) If I'm not wrong, that comes from Americajin, meaning American.
I heard his singing a lot back in those days ranging from his originals to Ne-yo's song. Now that he made a major debut, he seems to have deleted all audio files stored in Yahoo Briefcase and he quit mixi. It was against mixi's rule to join it under 18 in the first place. He was 16 or something when he joined it.
If you have your niconico video account, you can still have a chance to listen to his some of his songs uploaded to or broadcasted in 2ch before his debut. If he become more famous, those audios become very valuable and you can boast about listening to them.
>>667 I didn't know he was a good guy. I didn't know his existence in 2ch first of all. I have prejudice against black oriented culture. But I have to change my mind. Hmm But his style is a typical black culture not gangsta rap I hate most.
此「三寒四温」は英辞郎タソは扱はず研究社の和英 大辞典第五版(2003)では苦しくa pattern of three cold days and four warm days (marking the end of winter and beginning of spring)等とあるが当ビ的には "It's typical weather for this season: cold days, say three, followed by warm days, say four, followed by three cold days again, and so on. >>668 He may have been hikikomori, but he is gifted with good voice, which separates him from miscellenious hikikomoris. And he tried to keep contact with real world through the internet. He is basically positice. Most of hikikomori is not positive and see only the downside of the world.
>>669 Oh, you did? Thanks. I like him and watched his video again and again on Youtube.
>>670 I sometimes saw him 2ch's VIP board or Karaoke Board where he uploaded his audio files and asked for feedback. He is not typical gangsta type at all. He just like R&B music. R&B is not violent at all. He can rap but I don't think his rap has nothing to do with violence and gangsta culture. He is a good 18 year old. His songs lyrics is very emotional and touching. You can tell if you listen to his debut single.
His debut single is what appeals to general music fans and may sound pop music. But he can sing a song which has more atmosphere of R&B and that can please hard core R&B fans. Anyway, onece you have a deal with a major record company, I think you have to follow its instructions about what kind of music you make to a certain extent.
I want him to sing songs with more R&B taste in them rather than pop music.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm2082996 This not my taste. familiar and mundane music. Do you hear this kind of music frequently from ketsumeishi and stuff like that. positive lyrics and rap. Is he special. He is young. it's special. But his music is as attracting as utada's?
>>673 You are right in a way. Now he has made a debut but when he was interacting with people in 2ch, his future was not promised. He was just one of those a boy whose dream is becoming a professionaol singer. When I first listened to his song, I was really impressed but never expected he would be top 5 with his first single. Some 2chanellers were amazed but some never expected him to be a pro and they were saying he was good at an amateur level.
I don't think Shimizu Shouta was 100% confident of his success. I know he was 100 confident that he likes music, though.
>>668 Though his background seems pretty different from most vocalists', I don't really find his songs that special. He's got a pretty decent voice, but I find the songs quite soulless... Then again, I'm not a big fan of R&B, and especially not rap. Ironically, most R&B these days seems to lack any power and soul, and just sounds the same as a lot of other songs. It sounds like he's trying too hard to afflict an accent or specific tone.
>>675 Mmm, I have to admit I went too extremes, compared him with Utada Hikaru.
But He is a great musician. I think his voice quality is very soothing. And his lyrics! I have heard his other original songs back then, and they are so emotional and great. I don't know if they are potential his second and third single or not though.
And he sings a lot better than Ketsumeishi, I think.
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=8mjySWM14wM I kind of like this kind of cheap rap music. very cheap and the same old thing. laughable. But it kind make me feel at ease.
>>677 Maybe I have to admit I am so excited that I can't judge his talent as a singer. Imagine you know of him before he was less than nothing when he was interacted with people as 2channellers.
As a newcomer ranking 5th place in a chart is amazing, though. Something in his song appeal to music fans. That's for sure. By the way he never taken advantage of 2channelers to sell his records. Rather, the fact that he was a hard core 2channelers don't work in his favor.
If you understand his lyrics completely maybe your take on his songs might change a little.
>>666-668 Nothing good. And almost nothing new except he used to be in 2ch. In these days, even some famous politicains are around here & there.
He said in his song "I don't waana be sore". "痛くなりたくない"。 Actually he isn't hard, has no character, no handhold at all. He is just singing an easy song.
How long was he hikikomori and hardcore 2channeler in his 18years' life ? Sooner he will know the public is not so easy as much as his songs.
>>678 He is much better singer but his style is too old. Souunds like Disney's songs.
>>677 I'm not イギリス人. but I think phenomena like ne-yo are kind of throwback to good old soul music like early michael jackson and antithesis to gangstarap. I prefer him to gangsta rap.
>>684 Hmmm. I think you are underestimating too much, but everybody has their opinion so I take that as you opinion about him. Basically, after he graduated from junior high, his life was like neet and hikikomori. as for 2ch, I don't know how many years he appeared in 2ch. Before his debut as a solo, he was featured by a rapper, http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=EMrNFlH1C8c&NR=1, and worked for other collaboration project.
I myself like his voice, lyrics and tone of voice, everything. Nothing to complain about him.
I don't know how much soulful he is to people overseas' ears, especially to American's but I think his music will be/is accepted as R&B music among Japanese music fans.
Tell me why American girls are that nice? Tell me why they are that attractive? The way they take air in, it's really stunning.
They are sometimes wild like horses. They are sometimes cute as kittens. Wild and cute, that's hard to have at the same time. But they do! American girls... SO NICE!!
>>696 Are you kidding? Some of them are here in Japan teaching English, studying in Japan, and yada yada yada.
>>698 That's not true. I don't want to believe that. :(
>>699 Of course not. I like American girls. That's it. BUT unfortunately, there's no chance I can be in a relationship. Just sad. They are too attractive even to get near.
>>703 I hope so, but no, it's not that easy! I think if they looked me in the eye, I'd die.. It's SO embarrasing to talk to American girls for some obvious reasons.. They are too perfect for me to even take a glimpse at.
>>702 So you're Japanese, right? You are mesmerised with American girls. lololol Sad news, but keep in mind that American girls are not interested in Japanese guys. Just leave it.
>>708 Really? I've never heard about American girls who are interested in Japanese guys. Average-looking American girls? You are SO used to American girls that you take them for granted. They are hard to be friends with, coz they are too beautiful. I'd feel too nervous in front of them to form a sentence. All I could do is just make vowel sounds..
So all of you mean you're sticking around English board and even try studing hard, getting high marks on your exams, just for scoring chick or sucking cock ?
>>716 You're being mean. It's really disgusting of YOU to say such a thing, scouring a chick? Cut it out!! You lack respect for girls.
Of course, I like American girls since they are so adorable. But I want to know an American girl, and talk about lots of things, and hopefully be in a relationship not for her race, but for her. The problem is, I can't get one because American girls are so special to me.
>>717 Ah, thank you. But look how many people are interested in her? Nearly 900 guys left a comment, and tried to draw her attention to themselves. I think she is much more special to many guys. The fact that she's known to many guys narrows my chance to zero. And for your information, her profile says she's Emily, not Emiry. :)
I can understand that Japanese boys are under the poor circumstances so long, which is similar to American girls. American boys or other foreigners takes all and Japanese girls are rather cruel to them.
That is the age of achievement that American girls and Japanese boys can get contact with each other through the net.
But your short-circuits must eat yourself in the future. You will be loser after all, I'm so sad to say though.
>>720 Thank you. I'll look it up on an online dictionary. ^____^
>>721 Suicial dude? I don't know what happened here because I slept early yesterday (and got up early today).
I admit that I'm crazy for American girls, but that's not only my problem, but also theirs. They have the power to make me SOOOO weak.. Haaa, it can't be helped... They are so attractive.
>>723 Did you date an American girl? I really envy you. XXXDDD Or are you the guy who said all american girls are yours?
What do you mean, HELL? I'd prefer a long-term relationship, and hopefully live together until I die. But I guess my wish won't come true as I said above. It tortures me..
>>727 How lucky you are.. You had a date with American girls.. You probably are appealing to them. If I were like you, I'd be happier. "Enviousness" becomes "jealoucy" here. haha
>>732 That might be an idea. Um, I don't want to, but I know quite well that American girls love Macho and manly American guys. It's their culture. I'm far from attractive unlike you.
I'd die sooner if I should be with an American girl. I hear that over nervousness shortens your life span. haha. They'd be killing me! (half kidding)
>>734 DEFFINITELY NO!!! If I had a chance to date an American girl, she would put me at the top of the world. We'd look down on creation. No explanation makes sense...
You are just too used to American girls to rate them properly. They are the best.
>>739 That's not so simple. As I said, American girls you think are average-looking are trully cute and stunning to me. Yeah, when I walk on the street, I sometimes see a group of English- speaking girls (not sure if they are from America only seen from a distance away), but it's rude to them a japanese boy like me suddenly talk to them. And you know what? I'm shy. I can't do that. :( And I don't have a chance to know american girls in more natural a situation like living next to them. lol
Wow, now this thread looks a lot like conversations I have had when I mention I'm Swedish. For some reason people have all sorts of unrealistic expectations when tempted with the lure of a foreign partner...
(Of course, Swedish *guys* are awesome. I should know, I am one!)
See you all later, now I'm off to a party. Expect drunken posts in a few hours...
