Netto-Uyo (lit. Internet rightists in Japan) have always set up ROK, DPRK and PRC as imaginary enemies and have harbored hatred against these nations. This time around, Netto-Uyo are fighting with Australians for the whaling issue. Primarily, moves toward whaling regulations virtually reach an international agreement in the light of wildlife conservation, the protection of the global ecosystem, or humanitarian perspective. It is only right and proper that some advanced countries including Australia express angry protest against Japan, which tries to continue the activity of hunting whales with no regard to such an international public opinion. Furthermore, no matter how much Netto-Uyo raise their voices, the intentions of the international community can not change. Notwithstanding such a condition, does Japan selfishly give ITS OWN CULTURE priority over INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION? Unless Japan changes such a right-wing and arrogant attitude, this stupid island nation remains held in contempt by the rest of the world. Definitely.
>>10 It is irony how this post complains about a minority group that speaks out against other nations, and then attacks Japan as a nation, rather than just the minority group.
>>17 That listening section was painful. That's not really a good representation of everyday speech, so you probably did quite well getting that. The acting was terrible.
>>19 you wanna see a Japanese amateur girl shoot her self nude live? 2ch has everything and you pay attention this URL. SHe uoloads her self nude adding new photo.
http://p.pita.st/?m7imo3z6 Above is her first URL tonight. Photos she uploads are supposed to be deleted by her when she dissapear tonight so I hope you make it.
But isn't it amazing to be able to see amateur girls nude via net? WIthout Internet it couldn't be possible. They are not force to be naked, they show thier nudes on thier own wills.
>>48 聖徳太子 was a very important man in 7th century in Japan and everybody knows him. We japanese learn about him in history class. The man in >>47's video was asked if he know 聖徳太子 and he took the question as an insult and blew his top. The MC viciously asked him if he knows about him or not half teasing him.
i am going to get job and make good money, and i want to buy Gundum DVD box. but i cant get job even though how many times i try to do it, because i am useless and stupid.
>>44 I guess it's interesting in that you can see who is using that sort of thing, but normal photos allow that too. Everyone has their own tastes, so I guess you've found yours in this. Personally (I'll regret saying this, just know it), I find it more interesting when you can actually talk to someone to get to know them better, rather than just use pictures.
>>47 Prince Umayado? He was supposed to have formed the first central government there, and wasn't he supposed to have been a huge Chinaphile?
>>62 I think your dic has the meaning of Yutori. It's literal meaning is having plenty of time or space, relaxing state of mind. At one time Japanese education system was critisized because it's carriculum is too much and teachers have to cram manythings to make students learn a lot. That led to lots of students who felt stressed out.
So education ministry decided to teach less to students. This was called Yutori education. It lasted 10 years or so? I don't know exactly.
But that led to poor academic achievements of school kids. That's obvious because amount of things studets had to learn became less during Yutori education. So education ministry chaged it's policy again and abolished Yutori education.
In 2ch, people who spent their school days during Yutori education era are often teased and insulted because they didn't learn as much as other generation did. I mean they are called airhead or things like that.
>>61 is calling himself Yutori. It's kind of self putdown.
>>71 I don't think so. If someone is a 2chneller, he can understand what "You are Yutori" mean. But if he isn't, I don't think he understands what you mean.
>>75 Seems like ゆとり世代 there means retired senior citizens with full of free time. So even though the same ゆとり世代 is used, >>73's ゆとり世代 and 75's ゆとり世代 is completely different generations.
>>72 Word ゆとり is almost exclusily used for discussing ゆとり教育 problem on TV News. It's so popular. So many would notice what ゆとり means. Think about the situation. People labeled as ゆとり would be young ゆとり教育 generation and they are made fool of for their study level.
At any rate, ゆとり is insulting, so even 2chneller won't use directly to person. That's more of reason to avoid ゆとり than whether being able to get it across or not.
But the fact would never change that boobs are the only tool to communicate with the world. And the world should be united under the sacred name of boobs.
>>97 This is unfortunately true. There are some attractive historical buildings there, but the majority are just mediocre and crammed together. It's low, spread out, and full of pigeons. The London Eye certainly doesn't make it any prettier, either.
Note that 2ch will stop its service from 6am to 6 pm tomorrow due to some major server reconfiguration or something. So don't panic. Just swallow your pills and take a nap or fap 'till it comes back on.
Talking about boobs is fine but let me write something for a change.
My encounter with a foreigner in my town part6
When I talk to a foreign tourist in my town, I usually don't talk to a group of toursits. I talk to a toursit traveling alone. Not many women travel alone, so naturally I end up talking to a man. But there was one occasion in which I talked with a female Australian university student.
On the day we met, I had nothing special to do, so I went out by bicycle. After 15 minute bike ride, I found a woman sitting on a bench and looking at a map. I thought she was traveling alone. The place is away from downtown area and I haven't seen any tourists around there, so I decided she had lost her way.
I felt a little bit nervous about talking to a woman but since she seemed to lose her way, I decided to talk to her. I said, "Hi, did you get lost or something?" And she said yes. She wanted to go to downtown shopping area. If we walk there it takes about 20 minutes or longer, but she prefered not to use public transportation system.
We started walking together. She told me she majored in Japanese literature. but her Japanese wasn't very good. She called herself a lazy student and she said she likes to party. She didn't look like party animal at all, though. She seemed to be shy about talking in Japanese so we talked in English. I was not good at talking in English at that time but I tried.
I don't think I understood what she said very well but we were able to comunicate with each other somehow. I wanted to avoid awkward scilence so I tried to talk as much as possible. I've heard that Asian people look younger than they actually are from the western standard, so I asked her how old I look. I was expecting she would say I'm a teenager but her answer was correct. I got disspointed a bit.
I heard Japanese people are asked to show their ID at a liqur store overseas because they look younger than legal drinking age there, but maybe that's not the case with me then. I couldn't tell if she was enjoying talkin with me but after walking 20 minuites or so, we arrived at downtown shoppng area.
The idea that I show her around the area, maybe windowshopping together crossed my mind, but I didn't have enough courage to make the offer. As I wrote, I was not sure she enjoyed my company. I said good bye to her. When I said that, she looked like she put kind of sad expression on her face for a moment. Maybe not...
In retrospect, I should have offered her a guide further. I have to admit as a man, the idea that if I had gotten closely involved with her, I would have chance of one night stand. lol But it's just retrospect. In reality, I was very nervous about talking in English with her at that time and the chance of it must have been paper thin. Then again, in retrospect, it might have been worth a try. I don't know.
I think my writing is monotonouse, not full of colorful expressions to draw readers's attention compared to native speakers writing. But there seemed to no short cuts to be a better writer. Any correction would be fine with me. Thank you for reading.
I have to let you guys know 2ch is going under maintainance or something like that in about 4 hours and is planed to be back in 12 hours from the beginning of maintainance. Keep in mind that the surver will be down for 12 hours in 4 hours. Japan time 6:00~18:00 Thank you for reading. Enjoy 2ch.
>>119 Oh, you aren't administrater. Anyway, thanks for the info.
The guy in the video is not muscular on Western standard but I think he is the type White girls dream about Japanese men. Like, Gackt. or Jonny's agency type.
No. You are trapped into this wonderland beyond time and space. You'll never be able to escape this thread ever again, becasue you don't even exist any more. Welcome to the real 2ch world.
Do you agree or disagree with silicon stuffed boobs? Do you think they are just fake or really beautiful? What if your beloved girl would say she wanted to have plastic surgery on her boobs? Do you think you'll encourage her or talk her out of it?
ID:DyAzLNik0 is the most creepy man I have ever seen. He often gave a shout mririan as if mririan were his boyfriend, in writing aa like this (^o^). What's the heck is he? Probably his name is hiroki I know of, That's because he have posted fucked-up comments on mririan's Japanese blog.
Funnily enough, mririan replyed the his post on that thread first today.
Next time, suddenly ID:HuVnX7H90 introduced a video about stalkers in Japan, and then cautioned being aware not to trust some of them. Judging by it, ID:HuVnX7H90 is a meddlesome women or a kinda bitch.

In all honesty, I also have had kinda interest in mririan's posts. However I already don't feel like watching such chaotic thread... Now I feel like I am going to throw up lmao.
She was 18. I knew her way home from her college to home. I followed her every evening. She usually walked alone but sometime with friend. I took photos of her
But wait. You can do with your photos. LOL Are you still stashing your photos somewhere? I bet you've already degitalized your photos and photos are in your computer!
>>224 Maybe. You were adolescent and had no or slight risk of being punished both social and legitimate sense. That's the difference. You could try what you wanted with less pressure.
>>230 I think he is japanese or asian, another wanna be internationalist. very dispicable indivusual, once called banana. Or typical bigot from the west. Either way, he is very narrow minded and it is he who lashed out with hatred and emotion( no reasoning).
Fishing was decided upon scientific research by scientists and beaucrats(they are japan's top intellectuals). No internet actions had impact on japanese decision. LOL
internet people are just angry about counterreaction but japan's top intellectuals must be having the same embarrasment.
Descendants of vikings(norwegian and icelander) seem to keep on commercial whaling. Why isn't this big issue? Descendants of irish(once called white nigger) and british criminals shrinked before them?
>>235 I went when I was quite a bit younger, but didn't really get much chance to see things. Only saw Yokohama and Nagoya, though, since it was with people my parents knew.
>>236 Yeah, hopefully will do something related to that for a living. Would prefer to start up something on my own, though, or at least find a company that interests me. My father has nothing to do with it, though, as he passed away a couple years ago. He was very supportive.
>>237 Ahh... no thanks. My heart is already taken.
>>240 If you must know, Der Hölle Rache, from Mozart's Magic Flute. That just ended, though, and Rurutia is next.
>>245 It's quite a big issue in Europe, at least when it comes to whale hunting season. It's on the news for a few weeks every year and then just disappears.
>>246 I respect you! I can't go on talking with math. But i know some names of mathmaticians. Which mathmatician do you like? Godel and Ramanujan and so on... What is your major?
Perhaps I think vikings don't read the atmosphere and do fatal damage to green peace without hesitation if needed. so green peace choose the enemy which is more easy prey.
Rosiajin must be hunting for Japanese women somewhere on the net now.
When you say your heart is taken, does that mean you go out with a woman? Or even if you are in love with someone but he/she is not in love with you, you can still say your heart is taken?
>>260 I mean it in that I have no idea how she feels. We talk very often, though, and she's visiting again in a month or two. But no, not going out with her right now.
>>262 That's insane, but kind of expect it from Koreans. A little different from just spraying them down with water hoses...
>266 Alternatives include... bed, bed down, bunk down, crawl in, go to bed, go to sleep, hit the hay, kip down, retire, sack out, turn in... and... can't think of any more.
>>268 I watched on tv program. Korean are very aggresive but there seemed to be fault on japanese side to make them mischievous...
I think koreans would not have acted like that if they had been opposed to russians. LOL Russians would have kidnapped (killed) them with military force and incarcerate them.
In many cases korean succeed in escaping. They escaped and later there was problem between two contries. Oh, Japan Coast Guard ship seem to be sunk by the attack at that time. LOL....
>>271 I can't really think of anything similar over in western Europe... aside from a few centuries ago with the Spanish Armada, but that was a little different. Koreans do have a reputation for being insane, though, probably not helped by the movies released over here.
Sorry that time korean ship was sunken by its own attack. They managed to escape with the help of fellows from another ship. Opposite situation happened too. Japan Coast Guard ship was sunken. Yes attacker is always korean.
Man, Korean dried seaweed is so addictive I can't stop eating it even by itself. It goes with prety much anything too. Amazing. The subtle flavor of sesami oil is the key, I guess.
>>283 The Big Tasty should have been called the Big Disgusting, because it tasted horrible. Tried one in the winter, three years ago. I remember because I was with a friend, and we were comparing it with the Winter Whopper (which was delicious). The Big Tasty didn't use fresh lettuce or tomatoes at all.
>>296 The Big tasty just used slightly bigger burger and bun, and boasted 'fresh ingredients', such as lettuce and tomato. It wasn't double layer like the Big Mac.
And now there are some people walking up and down my street, singing.
>>320 You are very kind man...... You are white but you get mad on behalf of black people sentiments. Could it be that you didn't wanna be regarded as black you loathed? I know. never.
>>324 Depends. Call a middle to upperclass enducated black guy a nigger and he may just insult you back or start a fight.
A gangsta? Killed.
Of course racists see blacks as lower than them and probably dont fear them, it helps that they have racist followers that would gladly start a lynch mob though.
And not only do we get angry, getting angry and fighting whatever is near by is a deep part of our culture. See Berserkers and the Scottish for details.
>>328 I cant speak for hammerskins but gangstas tend not to be all that great at anything really. They're horrible gunmen and never really learn to fight beyond brute force.
>>335 It's not stats it's stereotypes that they try to follow. One of my friends works in a hospital in new york, they're always getting in gangsters with broken wrists who tried to pop a cap in someones ass gangsta style with a desert eagle for example.
ex-boyfriend the other day. He has asked someone's help and advice, like me... Because he is really worried about his job these days. Such as he's thinking of going to quit his job and so on. To tell the truth, I broke up with him about 5 months ago. He's 5 years yonger than me. He graduated from university in Nagoya, and decided to start new job in Osaka last spring. After few months later, he got transferd to Nara. He was really busy from then on. (He is still busy now) He couldn't take a day off,and had to work overtime. So it was so hard to keep relations between him and me at that time. But we still keep in touch by e-mail once in a while.
I wish I could help his matter. But I couldn't advice to him easily... I hope to it turns out well!
I'm sorry for writing my poor English diary. It must suck that you have to hide the fact that you like Japanese things, anime, games, dramas, music or whatever it is, not to get bashed as a weeaboo.

>>349 I'd like to ask you some questions. Girls in UK buy 'Brand name stuffs'? like a Pradas, hermes, Rolexs, etc. Some girls in Japan go crazy for those stuffs. personaly I don't know why why ppl pays so much money.
someitmes someone leaves really bad shit smell in a puclic toilet and i go in there and just take a piss then some other guy comes in and thinks i did it i hate it
>>356 Four years ago a malignant tumor was discovered in my intestine, which has long since been deteriorating with the passage of time. Therefore, whenever I emit solid biological refuse out of my body in a lavatory, the atmosphere in, and around, the cell is invariably filled with revolting reek. So I must express sincere atonement to you.
>>350 Sometimes, but I just don't really need much sleep anyway. Bed at 3, up at 8, usually.
>>354 It all depends on the person, really. I think in all 'developed' societies, there are a lot of people who go for brand-name stuff. People often believe that a brand name is a name to be trusted based on past experience, though I agree with you - they should not charge excessive prices for that 'trust'. Or at least people should have enough sense not to pay an excessive price for a simple piece of clothing.

Many posts back, you were talking about Macdonald's hamburger. When I was a kid Macdonald is a place where I wanted to eat out. I asked my mom to have lunch there but she refused often, because eating out cost more than eating at home. Macdonald's CM really appeals to kids so it was really sad I couldn't eat there. Once in a blue moon my mom bought me a macdeonald's habmurger, to go, that is. I remember eating french fries and a hamburger, feeling really happy and I thought Macdonald's burger is really delicious. As a high school kid, it was my dream to hang out with my girlfriend in Mocdonald.
Now I became an adult and I realy don't think Macdonald's hamburger is delicious at all. Maybe my taste bud changed as I grew up. This is realy mystery. What I adored in mychildghood so much doesn't taste good at all!!
My sister doesn't allow her kids to eat Macdonald's french fries cause, Macdonald's french fries are banned in New York City because of something tocxic contained in oils. Is that true? In Japan, French fries are still served Macdonalds in Japan.
Come to think of it, there was a movie, Supersized me, where I heard one man kept eating fast food and gotten sick. Now, I don't want to eat at Macdonald at all but I missed the days when I craved for Macdonald's hamburger.
Craig something became James Bond. When the announcement that he would play 007, there was a harsh comments about his taking the leading role. Some even handed out petition claiming he is not suitable for James Bond.
But his first 007 film turned out to be having raked the most revenue among the past 007 movies. Did you watch the movie? What do you guys think of his movie's success attribute to? He is seeing Natsuki Mitchell, film producer. Natsuki is used as a name for a Japanese girl so I searched and she looked a little bit Asian. Maybe one of her parents or grandparents are Japanese. http://images.google.co.jp/images?hl=ja&resnum=0&q=%22satsuki+mitchell%22&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi
I wonder Craig was famous before taking 007's role in the film.
>>377 A lot of people claim it's one of the better Bond movies, though I have yet to see it. Might watch it tonight and get back to you on that...
But as for Daniel Craig, he was known before taking on the role, but not well known. He was in movies such as 'Munich' and 'Layer Cake'. Casino Royale was his first starring role in a really major movie, though. Apparently Satsuki Mitchell is Japanese-American, which I guess means one of her parents is Japanese. She's not really great looking, and have no idea what her personality's like, so can't really give an opinion.
>>380 Thank you for the information about Daniel Craig. He is muscular. Couldn't imagine he has such a good body. It's kind of mismatch with his face.
The rumor had it that 007 would be shot in Japan and Bond girl would be selected among Japanese actresses but maybe the rumor was wrong. Norika Fujiwara was said to be learning English to get the role as a bond girls, as far as I know but not sure. http://geino-news.zako.org/norika.jpg <----- Norika Fujiwara
why japan? unfortunately, japan obviously has been deteriorated since the end of the economic boom in 1980s. i, now a junior high student have a dream of moving to the States someday and making a lot of money..
>>401 It's pretty simple. I want much money. U.S is no doubt the biggest economic power in the world. A young person, especially a man have to be ambitious, otherwise they loses precious opportunities to make themselves happy, I think. Some idiots say " money is not the most significant thing in the life." , but actually we all know money is the most effective to do everything, don't we? If you have a objection that might take me down in this topic, please tell me the details. As a young junior high, I want to know the world as much as I can.
>>409 It's been snowing many different places, but not everywhere. Norway is a pretty long country, so the climate is a bit different in various locations, but not as much as the USA, as an example. Norway is far up north, so it's generally a bit cold during winter!

>>410 Isn't the American economy currently getting weak? The dollar currency value has been dropping for a long time
Money is certainly not the most important thing. If you think of money as power, it could seem like it, but rather than getting what you want through money, it is often easier to go straight for what you want. Unless that is only material wishes.
Previously, I used to think of the life as some kind of game. Not in a "I don't care what happens" kind of what, but rather as a huge set of objectives and stages. More like "you have to do X and Y, then you will be able to proceed with Z", and so on.
Life is really a lot simpler than that, which is what I realised last year. You don't have to stress if you don't want to. As long as you make your life a good one for yourself, that is a successful life. After thinking this way, life seemed a lot better.
>>411 Thanx.Your stating is good for me as knowledge. So,you are interested in japan animetion.I like animetion, too. Whats your favorite one? I love "Ghost in the shll"”攻殻機動隊”
I did watch lot of Japanese animation before, but not so much anymore. I think my favourite is actually Honey and Clover (ハチミツとクローバー), which is a girl's show I guess, but it was an interesting drama. I also like most of Miyazaki's movies.
Also saw Ghost in the Shell one time, but I didn't manage to understand all of it. The plot was very complex. I should try watching it again one day.
>>416 Do you know that there's a live action movie of honey and clover? And TV drama version of it is also being in production and broadcast once a week here in Japan?
Humm...I will watch Honey and Clover.I like girls animetion cause I have two sisters.I was child ,many comic books I read.I loved "here is green wood" "ここはグリーンウッド"and "Bananafish"
No,i dont have HDTV, because Im a student and live in alone. I think most of japanese dont have HDTV.Do you have it?Usefull?
>>412 I think what >>400 is trying to say is that despite the weakening value of the dollar (which in theory should help US exports), their trade deficit is increasing steadily, and is now double what it was in 2001, currently standing at over 700 billion dollars. This means the US is importing a LOT more than exporting, having a majorly negative impact. This is mainly because of the cost of oil, which has increased more than five times since 2002. A knock-on effect of this is the crisis is lending, which has forced other companies to financially support some banks - which didn't help those people already evicted from their homes because of forced mortgage repayments.
In fact (in the UK), the per capita Gross Domestic Product (average earnings of individuals) recently became higher than that of the US. I have no idea about figures for the EU as a whole, though, so can't support >>400 in the other statements. China does have a lower percentage of people below the poverty line than the UK, though, which surprised me.
>>419 A while ago, you said the average utility( gas?) cost is or will be something like 200,000 yen in the UK. How can ordinary people pay such am amount? Or is that just an estimation?
>>417 I knew about the movie, but haven't been able to obtain it yet. However, I hadn't heard about the TV drama! Wow. It just started airing a few days ago. I will start watching it as soon as I can, thank you very much for telling me about it.
>>418 Hopefully you will like H&C. Maybe I will check out the two series you mentioned the next time I'm buying comics, if they are possible to find.
>>420 Haven't heard about her, do you have some links?
>>422 That's close - about 220,000 yen average these days. I'm aware that minimum wage in Japan is different depending on region and industry, with the lowest being 4,712 yen per day in Miyazaki, and Tokyo, Osaka and Kanagawa having the highest, of 5,465 yen per day. The UK's minumum wage is £5.52 per hour (nationally), so a full 8 hour working day would give the equivalent of 9,487 yen. Wages are higher, so we are charged more for services.
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=m3RB3UM6q1I She must be an ordinary blonde, big eyed girl who you can find everywhere in Norway. Japense is a easy prey to make much money!
Although Japanese yen has been strong against the US dollar, yen has been weak against Euro, and other currencies, so there are a lot of foreigners coming to Japan these days, buying electronic stuff and so on. Japan is facing the threat of stagflation now.
>>406 I also went comiket 73. I don't know them well, but I don't think there are not so many musician groups originating 2ch. My favourite dojin musician is SHIKI and onoken.
>>426 Thanks for doing the research for me. (I did some research this time.) It seems that the average income of both countries are almost the same (which means Japanese people work approximately twice longer. LOL), so a \220,000 bill should mean pretty much the same as how it sounds I guess. I mean, it's quite expensive to me. Hmm, I don't know how to comprehend this..
>>440 Huh? Did I say 'statistically'? It was just a speech based on the data about the minimum wages that イギリス人 showed. But I guess you're the type who gets obsessed with details. Here you go. You happy now?
>>430 Oh, so that's her. Her looks are indeed pretty ordinary here in Norway, you could say. She doesn't know much Japanese, so it's kind of embarassing watching.
>>418 Forgot to say that I do have a HDTV. However, there aren't any HD channels in Norway, and I do not have any new gaming consoles or Blu-ray player, so it's not very useful at the moment.
>>435 That's cool, lots of great stuff was sold there. I like onoken. Are you a fan of the circle Diverse System?
I go online almost everyday but have never felt Internet is something I can't live without. All I do on the Internet is browse 2ch's threads, (feel like wasting my time) receive and send e-mail(you can do it by cell phone), answer in Q and A website as an advanced English learner(other advanced learners can replace me), read e-mail magazine (it's better to learn systematically rather than by e-mail little by little). I watch youtube (but I feel like it's another wasting my time.)
What I wrote in ( ) is the reasons I don't feel any need to depend on the Internet. I wouldn't mind at all if Internet vanished. I search for information about something on the search engnine but I don't do that often and what I search are something stupid such as information about idols. Even if I didn't know about them, that wouldn't keep me at bay at all.
I don't do online shopping because I don't buy much in the first place. I don't like credit card transaction, either. I don't do online auction from the same reason. (I don't like to use what someone used, I don't like second hand things.)I don't use file sharing software because I don't want to infringe copyright law, I don't know how P to P software works.
I think personal use of Internet has something to do with Entertainment. And those entertainment you enjoy on the Internet is something you can live without. It's ridiculous to get an expensive PC, pay some money to your ISP every month, just to enjoy such entertainment on the net.
For business use, you can get benefits a lot from the Internet, you can call branch offices free of charge if you use skype, you can send files and e-mail without thinking about costs. Online banking and stock buying cost less and good things. (you can use this servise personaly though.)
As for personal use of Internet, I don't feel any advantages. Putting a lot of time on the net just make you waste your time. Don't you think so? Haven't you feel empty about using the Internet? Tell me what you do on the net makes you excited and what makes you think Internet is vital part in your life. I'd like to know your opinion.
Why do I use Internet? Because I feel forced to keep up with technical advancement, development of Internet. To be honest, personal use of Internet has never given me happiness and I don't feel any need for Internet use.
>>437 Hmm... more likely than not, we're just being extorted. Tried doing a bit of reading on income tax rates, but the Japanese system confused me a little with the National, Municipal and Prefectoral taxes. We have an income tax rate of 40%.
>>448 Interesting thoughts. I feel quite differently, though. The Internet, as well as being a form of entertainment, is also an information and advertising platform. For some of us, it's a way to make more money. I do use the Internet as a shopping tool - I buy books at cheaper cost from Amazon, and unusual, harder to find things from auction sites such as eBay and Yahoo. It saves time, allowing me to achieve more. Online banking allows you to transfer money instantly, rather than waiting in a queue for fifteen minutes and having to discuss things with a member of staff.
For me, however, being able to make things that people can see and actually use is what makes the Internet most interesting. It doesn't really matter if they know I made it, but just having people accept it gives a sense of achievement.
I shouldn't really express my status on P2P software, but can say that >>377 will be getting another reply soon because of it.
>>450 >The Internet, as well as being a form of entertainment, is also an information and advertising platform.
You need a lot of money to use Internet: expensive PC and monthly ISP fees. So I think Internet is a very expensive toy to enjoy. You (=general you) pay a lot of money to use Internet to do nothing so valuable.
Yes, Internet is a nice tool to connect strangers around the world and that makes online auction work. But you don't use auction site everyday. You don't use amazon everyday. I suspect you use those sites not so often. It's the matter of cost and effect to me. Just to buy an item or two per month, you have to pay hefty amount of money to get yourself ready to be online.
As for seeing Internet as information platform, you are right. I think the more you are curious, the more you make the most of the internet as information platform. But I am not so curious person so I don't need to search for information so often.
As for seeing Internet as advertising platform, you are right, too. That's because lots of people go online and less people watch TV and the value of websites, blogs and SNSs as an advertisement media is increasing. But then I get back to my first question. People spend more time on the Internet, but do you really need to use Internet? Aren't you just wasting/killing time, keeping your eyes away for reality? Different person has different opinion. But to me, Internet as an entertainment tool don't appeal much to me. I use it just to keep up with the time.
>>377 is my post, too. lol So you mean you are watching the film? Don't bother but thank you. Maybe you are one of copyright unconscious people? I don't want to be a wet blanket so I never blame anyone who use p to p software.
>>458 Many people who know about copyright laws still use P2P software. As for myself, I am pretty much certain that that my downloading won't keep me away from making purchases.
When it comes to music, isn't it better to listen to an album before spending much money on it? I wouldn't be buying more movies either, but perhaps not watch as many as now. It feels a little stupid buying DVDs now that the HD formats will be taking over soon. Rental is also an option, but it is so much easier to download a movie than driving to a rental store.
File sharing is not a matter of unawareness, but rather about choosing to not comply with the laws.
I am the 1000 of my GET. VIP is my body, and kopipe is my blood. I have created over 999 posts. Unaware of /b/. Nor aware of fchan. Withstood bans to create many flamewars. Waiting for one's arrival. I have no regrets, this was the only path. My whole life was Unlimited Troll Works.
>>462 No, it is a matter of rights. I have no problem understanding the need for such laws, being a creator myself.
However, most record labels are bastards, and don't really deserve as much money as they take. The same applies for many others in the entertainment industry.
>>441 British income efficiency seems to be nearly 1.5 times as much as that of japan. So approxiamately 1.5 time higher gas price seems reasonable. But 1.5 time efficiency doesn't mean that british have 1.5 times money per capita. Japanese work harder so japanese have more money.
Also America's gas price is almost one third of that of Britain. How do you explain this?
Brit has her own oil, north sea oil. I assumed British oil must have been cheap. more than 200 yen was out of expectation to me. That's the point which made me curious.
>>457 Hmm... let's pretend an up to date system costs around £1,500. It may last three years before needing to be upgraded. So if we spread the cost over three years, it's like paying £1.36 every day to use a computer (not including internet access) - that's about 290 yen. Though I don't use Amazon, eBay or Play every day, they're still used enough to warrant using the Internet - especially since a lot of my books are textbooks, which are expensive on the highstreet, but not from the Internet. An average DVD costs around £16 (3440 yen) here, but can be bought online for half that. If I buy a DVD every 2 weeks, that saves £208 every year - £624 over three years - already a third of the price of the system. The cost of books varies dramatically, so can't really make a similar comparison for them, but let's say it's another 1/3 of the cost of the system. Music is quite a lot cheaper, but cheaper still if you buy slightly used versions from a site such as eBay. Already, this has knocked the cost down to around £250.
The savings may not have completely paid off the cost of the whole system, but it also pays off for the time that would otherwise be spent having to travel back and forth (admittedly I do this anyway, because I enjoy flipping through pages at a bookshop, or just seeing the variety of movies at a media store).
As for the Internet connection, the odd jobs done for local people and companies pays the cost back a few times over - and without the connection, there would be no way of doing this. Materially, it all evens out - and more - in the end. As for the argument of killing time (and wasting it), wouldn't the world be a boring place without books, art, and other forms of entertainment? Some of us waste time by reading, looking at and watching it, but some of us also waste time by actually making it.
As for the matter of copyrights, I agree with ノルウェー人. I would never buy a CD without hearing it first. If I watch a movie that is really enjoyable, I'd probably also buy that. Otherwise, it'd just be a waste of time and money. Most of us P2P users are aware of copyright issues, but just choose to apply ethics differently than how the law states.
>>444 That happened. There was an extremely tiny chance of it happening, but it did.
>>474 I don't use P2P because you should be aware of the high possibility of computer virous infections - I'm not a computer expert so once you get infected and your valuable data is out in the cyberspace, I can't do anything to stop it spreading. In fact there are, though small compared to all the users, many people their personal lives are shown to the world. I won't take the risk. I'm curius to know if there're British people that let their info flow on the internet such as their naked/boob photos.
Concerning the copyright issue, I half agree with you. Because one of the strong/authoritative organization that deals with copyright of Japanese music, ASRAQUE(?), is going too far. Once they find someone playing copyrighted music in public they will ask them to pay loyalties, even if s/he doesn't make money by doing so. It's too much.
I only buy stuff on indies labels because they need support that makes it possible for their artists to keep creating good stuff. I don't feel like making fat CEOs of big corporates even fatter. And most of major label stuff suck anyway.
hi there. i use this thread for the purpose of practice of writing English. i have noticed nowadays that the balancing of reading, writing, oral communication is effective to learn English.
by the way, there is no response for more than two hours. are there anyone?
I am a white guy from New Zealand. I will come to Japan on February 19. I will train in Tokyo and then go to Yukuhashi, Fukuoka to teach English at GEOS.
I want to make friends with people who live near Tokyo or Yukuhashi or Kitakyushu.
They'll have press conference tommorow. I'm shocked. I am her big fan since I saw her on CM singing, " Don't forget there is something more important than money." It was funny because the CM was of consumer loan shark company.
For those who don't know 井上康生, he is a Japanese Judo champion. The real beauty and the beast.
This Matt guy has traveled around the world a few times in the past, shooting this kind of video where he dance a clumsy, awkward, funny and impressive dance.
He is now traveling around the globe for the 3rd or 4th times. I'm not sure. Some months ago he was telling in his website that if you want to join him and dance with him when he visit your town, register in his website. I registered and wrote where I live, and my e-mail address and other requirements.
Today, I got an e-mail from him, although I know it was sent automatically. In the e-mail he writes (which is written both in English and Japanese. Maybe some volunteers translated it into Japanese.) that he visit Tokyo on January 27th. He says he'll shoot a video at 3:00pm in Yoyogi Park.
I don't live near Tokyo so it's impossible to go there and dance with him. In the e-mail, more details are explained such as where in Yoyogi Park he'll dance. If you are interested, show your free e-mail address here. I'll forward his e-mail.
>>507 I read through his website long time ago and kknow he paid on his own for his first around the world trip, which is of course.
And he uploaded his video to youtube and his video got really popular. And one chewing gum company offered him to go another world trip saying they pay all the expences for the second trip.
I don't know about his current trip but I'm sure Matt is financially supported. I'm 505 by the way. Anyway he'll come to Yoyogi Park and shoot a video. In the e-mail I got, he says the vido shot in Tokyo is supposed to be uploaded to youtube on June 21st this year.
The hairier the woman, the sexier she is. The PRC's most attractive women are definitely Persians. Those hairless Sphinxes have a lot of trouble finding a mate.
I'm Japanese. I don't meant to boast about my English proficiency at all. Not a bit. But actually I am pretty good at English among Japanese English learners. Not many Japanese English learners reach my level of English fluency. Let me repeat again. I'm not boasting. I'm telling the truth although I know I'm a lot less fluent than native English speakers.
I put my share of time and energy into studying English and now here I am. Some Japanese English learners say,(maybe soar grapes attitude toward good Japanese English speakers)that it doesn't take intelligence to be a good English speaker becuase even bums in English speaking countries can speak English. I have to admit thoguh bums's English proficiency in English speaking countries is a lot better than me.
As they claim, maybe it doesn't take intelligence to improve English. From my own experience, It's perseverence and patience that matters most. To be as fluent as I am as a learner of English, it takes a decade or longer daily efforts to improve your English. You have to stick to it. The attitude, "I'm tired. I'm not in the mood for studying English today" get you nowhere. Even if you are tired, you have to study alomost every day.
If you don't, you can't achieve good English proficiency. You can't expect dramatic improvement in your English so it's steady efforts that counts. It's like piling up a block one at a time. One by one.
Getting back to the claim that even bums can speak English, I feel a little sad because I feel like my efforts are underestimated. When I see people from Scandinavian countries and Dutch people speak English as a second language much better than me, I feel bad. People from those countries grow up surrounded by English and because their English education system, their English is almost perfect. So may be it takes circumstances to be a good English speaker rather than inteligence.
Yes the bums can speak fluent English. But they can't speak Japanese. So probably it's not speaking pretty good English as a second language that matters but that speaking two languages that counts. I wonder to what extent intelligence matters when it comes to acquiring a second language.
>>583 No, the commonality between English and other European languages is the major cause of their fluency, whereas between English and Japanese, there is no commonality. What is more, Japanese has approx. only half the sounds that of English, which puts us in a very disadvantageous position when it comes to pronouncing Englihs words.
>>591 Hey now, you can do that if you want... The winner of last year's Darwin Award was a guy who stuck 1.5L of sherry up his ass. I wonder how he died.
>>582 Your English is really good, and I also completely agree with your opinions. It's not really much about intelligence, but rather practice and stuff. Using English daily in some way is the only way you can keep up.
As for me, I started learning by playing video games. RPG addiction has to be one of the best ways to make a child read much English, haha. Because I hate to read books, my vocabulary is weak, but I still manage somehow.
Norwegian and English does have quite a lot in common though, so it's been a lot easier for me than, say, you.
I was doing head banging listening to The Blue Hearts's Linda Linda. I can't do that in front of people because I head bang like a crazy to death. I would lose lots of friends if they saw the way I do head banging. Ooopss.. I don't have to worry about it because I don't have any friends.(^ o ^)/~~~~
The next day I couldn't turn my neck in any direction. It was like I hurt my neck when a car bumps into the back of my car.
>I don't meant to boast about my English proficiency at all. ? You might be good as for japanese. But you already made a mistake native speakers can't make.
> becuase even bums in English speaking countries can speak English. Even bums in japanese speaking country can speak japanese. But How about the other way around? Bum in america can speak japanese? Even for intelligent people, japanese is very difficult. That can apply to japanese who study English.
Practice and repetition is needed for all study, not only English. You are obssesed with the notion of intelligence.
There is a huge opportunity gap in both contries. Even bum had a plenty of opportunities to learn English(japanese). It is very advantagious of him. And it's not easy to fill the gap by studying in Japan(america) alone.
And we have to learn much more things other than English. Math and physics and so on are more important.
>>597 That's true, but those interested in learning English should do! Most Western RPG games are quite different from the ones made by Japanese production studios, and I've heard you guys don't like them very much, so I can see why.
The game is made by an independant software studio for the Nintendo DS, and will hopefully be released later this year. The graphics look a lot like good old Chrono Trigger for the Super Famicom, and both the story and the game system is supposed to be a lot like classic Japanese RPG games.
>>618 I'm not a gamer and I have no clues. How can I play the RPG you linked to? What do I need to prepare to start the game? Do I need to by Nintendo DS or other game consols such as Play station?
NO. nigger. You are nigger. That'll detract all your advantages. And Your dick is so soft! and in the first place, prove your dick size! upload your dick on the uploader and paste the line.
Kimchi is actually pretty nice (depending on the recipe). The Korean ambassador's wife in Singapore used to give cooking lessons to other wives, and that was my first experience of kimchi.
>>619 They are planning to release the game for the Nintendo DS, but as for now, it is still in development. When the game hits the stores, a DS will be required to play it.
>>623 The speed is alright for me, so I assume that goes for native speakers as well, but I can imagine it being too quick if you haven't gotten to read much English text before. I have a quiz game for the Gamecube in Japanese, which fortunately has furigana, but I am barely able to read through the text before a new question is presented!! You also have to answer the questions in Japanese with a microphone, and the game hates my pronunciation, haha.
There are small triangles at the bottom of every text box in EXILE, which means that in the actual game, you may use exactly how much time you want, before proceeding with more text. Every RPG game I have played would let the gamer control the text boxes, and that is a good thing. My English proficiency is nowhere near that of a native speaker, and I would never have managed to read through the Ace Attorney/逆転裁判 DS visual novels without doing it at my pace.
>>629 Thank you for your answer. I don't have a DS.
I read a lot of English but still I can't read fast. Maybe I need more and more. You study Japanese through Video game. That's great. Thank you for detailed explanation abut how RPG game works.
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ3tOJw9fmA And also It's ironic that the Worst of the worst From Russsia try to act like nazi. Again Hitler proved russian's inferiority.
Really...I have only limited knowledge about Russia but I've seen some of the movies of Andrei Arsenyevich Tarkovsky, Those were really really beautiful, has 美学 and 哲学 so I generally admire russian people.
>>637 This moral fall of Russia is a result of the fall of Soviet Union, which ended up in what we call crazy 90s (I'm russian). After take-over many criminals were released under an amnesty; many "truly" democratic freedoms were given (which resulted in a further disband of ex-USSR and Chechen war). So, the rush to become rich businessman and monopolist reached it's peak in a few years. Any method was good: raids on concurent company's offices, blackmails, assassination, whatever. Crime groups were rather leading such companies or rather gave them 'protection'. Another impact was a degrade of language, because many words which were forbidden by general public during soviet time. It was result of amnesty. Because of that awful rise of crime society turned from supportive to egoistic. "You'd better think about your own ass first". Don't expect if someone dares to attack you in public, someone will risk their own health to help you. Most likely people will look away in shame. It was totally unimaginable that somebody start a fight in public place. Nationalistic and rasist ideas leaked. But most of skinheads and nationalists don't even know what is the idea of those organizations (like: "Oh! My friend said it's cool, so it's cool. I'm with them!"). For them it's "cleaning up society from scums", and by this they mean western culture followers: rappers, emos etc.
Well, I'm glad you've come first before rosiajin screws up the issue. In any society, there are a certain number of people who get extreme with the ideology that many youths easily follow but don't know what's really behind. They are usually engaged in illicit activities to make profits. That is, they are no better than organized crimes, in reality. 右翼 is one here.
I think japanese yanky dokyun or false flag, self-proclaimed right wing would escape in front of Russian thugs! They are no joke! I wish Concrete Encased High School Girl Murderers be sent to Russia. Some murderers seem to be big and strong with martial arts experience. But They are not compatible with russian skin heads! Bone and structure are essentially different. They deserve to get punishiment in Russia!
I registered on skype for the first time. Are you 4chaneller's or people overseas and Japanese here interested in talking on skype with me? I can't do video chat because I don't have webcam but I can do voice chat or text chat.
If you are interested in talking with me, holler here. I'll show my e-mail address here and let's go into details by e-mailing before talking on skype. I'm a Japanese man.
One thing I don't understand is the web based advertising business represented by adwords and adsense and other banner ads are raking huge ravenues. And internet based ad business is considered to be lucrative and has bright future.
I myself never clicked on net based ad links. Well, maybe I have clicked a few times in my 7 years of Internet experience but that's very rare.
>>648 I think, almost never. Just when I accidentally miss a link or a button on a page. It's funny when you are on Miranda IM homepage (which is free) and you see an advertisment of another IM, which is most possibly commercial.
>>647 oh yes, I'd like to skype with you coz I'm just interested to know what the people are like on this thread. I want to talk with one of the people here. I have my account on skype. I'll add you.
>>651 Are you a native English speaker or a Japanese English learner? Any way write to me at [email protected] We can go into details. I'm going to have dinner now. I think I'll write back to you in a few hours.
>>649 That happens often. lol I sometimes accidentally click on ad.
>>650 Subliminal effects.... That might be a case of a anner ad. But in case of text ad, just looking at the text doesn't make online ad agency rich. I mean, they can earn money when internet users click on it. That's called "pay per view" if I am not mistaken.
I understand why google can earn lots of money. Google covers lots of websites so accumulated small amount of money can add up to huge revenue. What I don't understand is that even a small Japanese online ad agency can go public and reap the benefits of online ad.
Since I don't click on any ad, that's a mystery. I just wondered if other people click on online ad.
>>653 Sorry, the account was suspended by yahoo because I haven't logged in for more than 4 months. Now I have just made the account active again. You can write to me now.
>>663 I just wrote you back lol me too. I want to communicate with English thread people here. I mean when I have time only. I miss 米人さん。I want to skype with her. (T_T)
>>657 It works a bit different way. Company that needs advertisment goes to ad company and pays it money. Ad company adds banner to their rotation. It pays very small ammount per view (a little bigger per click) to owners of sites who show those banner ads. Some sites sell their advertisment space with fixed price.
Japan seems to be loved by almost every asian nation except two specific nations. LOL I wonder if they are polled. I think they would be ranked at the most hated asian nation. LOL
It's better that way because if they trusted Japan, they would argue that they are betrayed when Japan doesn't live up to their kimuchi standard. I like kimuchi though.
It seems that a lot of foreigners who study Japanese are Otaku now. I'm not sure if it's a bad thing. But it seems like a large part of Japan's international cultural attraction is Otaku culture.
>>679 Apparently the Won is fuelled by the Kimchi Standard, also. It is the basis of Korean economy. On presentation of a Won banknote, the owner is entitled to a fixed amount of kimchi.
>>685 For one, how many bowls of kimuchi you can finish at a meal determines how manly you are there, just like how otaky we are proves how Japanese we are.
>>698 Some people here have seen my face already, from several threads ago where mixi was mentioned. Don't think I look like the guy in the video though. He seems to have a patch of mold growing under his mouth.
>>707 Funny thing, Scientology sect is located just in neighbour building near Study and Laboratories Building* (the newest one) of my university. They were giving out invitations to their meetings this september. Also: Tom Cruise is a scientologist. I wonder will he visit this department? There's really too much sects near University. There was some Korean sect (they called themself young people organization "KARP"). Its memebers were asking some questions to people who walk past them, trying to make them interested in this sect. They were really annoying! Once, I was invited to their meetings 7 times during week (6 work days)!
>>711 I think university students are easier to indoctrinate than most people. They always seem to be the types who have political rallies and demonstrations and protests. That's probably why there are so many sects of strange cults near universities. We recently had a controversial documentary on the BBC about Scientology, which can be viewed here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-126281853779690652
>>723 How many threads before was it? I want to know thread number.
I wanna see your beautiful face.
By the way I want to knowa the correct way of expressing "それは何番前のスレッドですか" in English. Phrase 何番前の is difficult to put in English. I used "how many threads before" but I feel it is strange.
Hey give us some advice how to pursade Greenpeace or Sea shepherd (or at least calm them down) on the whaling issue.
I visited youtube to watch the film about whaling, was shock to see all the swearing on the comments posted.
I admit the Japanese who made comments on the film were mostly idiots, but those Aussies and some western people there were also very emotional and never listened to other opinions, which made me think they're narrow minded people and intoralent to other cultures..
>>720 I'm Australian myself, and I hate Greenpeace. They're a bunch of eco-terrorists, and it's shameful our government is supporting them. One of our own top environmental scientists said that Japanese whaling in the region would have no real significant impact on whale numbers in the long term.
Most importantly, don't trust comments on Youtube on issues like this. Of course the emotional westerners, including Aussies made comments like that. Only people who feel they need to comment do so. Most Australians couldn't care less what happens in the Arctic Sea, just as most Japanese people have better things to do than care about what Greenpeace has to say.
It's like the old saying "empty vessels make the loudest noise".
Also, you should make those two men who snuck onboard the whaling ship walk the plank!
More strictly translated, perhaps "In which of the previous threads was that?" But that sounds a little unnatural to me.
By the way, I wanted to write a more interesting name. Something similar to the "Anonymous Linguist"-type names you see on 4-ch.net, perhaps. How would you write "Anonymous <something>"? I do not trust my dictionary in this case.
>>721 It's really good to know that there are decent-minded Aussies. I mean, if I see one in the notorious 2CH, I can expect a whole bunch in real life, isn't it? It is probably the nature of media, but Japanese media tend to air these kinds of insidents overly sensationally, especially when they involve how people from overseas view Japan. So as you say, it is only a view of a very limited number of people, the media report it as if it was the majority's opinion.
btw, do you know a ski resort in Hokkaido called 'Niseko'? It has also been reported as an extremely popular ski resort for Aussies! I've skied there before the 'invasion?' of Aussies, and it IS an awesome place for skiers.
>>723 I wouldn't say you could expect a whole bunch in real life, but just know we aren't all the same. Real life has a way of not living up to expectations. With everything in life, you usually only hear about the worst or dumbest of groups of people, like young people, foreigners etc., because they are the ones getting themselves noticed by doing stupid things.
Personally, I never usually read the comments on Youtube or take them seriously. The internet is best used as a tool for entertainment, as is television. If I want to learn about serious issues, I'll look for places that actually know what they're talking about.
The media here is also very biased. Everytime the whaling issue is raised, we see about 5 seconds of the Japanese foreign minister telling us Greenpeace is committing piracy, then the next few minutes dedicated to so stupid bleeding heart Greenpeace person talking about how whales are being butchered. It's funny because they use old footage of whales being killed - they haven't been able to get any shots of this season's hunt.
I don't get why Greenpeace is so upset that the two men who snuck onboard are being held "hostage". There isn't a ship in the world that wouldn't do the same thing. Some people here are saying that the two men are refusing to leave, because it looks more sensational and causes more of a commotion.
I know that many Aussie skiers go to Hokkaido, and it's well known here, but I didn't know the actual resort.
>>721 Good to here your comment. I was almost disappointed to see youtube. I heard that whalining is the only problem lying Japan-Australia relationship. Hope we can build strong partnership after solving whalining issue. (good old saying!! I should remember this..)
>>712 Yes, I'm russian. One of my friends went there. Invited people took personality test (sect members claimed that it was developed in Cambridge). My friend got many results close to 0 while the rest were even negative. Of course, he was invited to Scientology "to develop his personal qualities".
I'm >>720 and >>725. >>724 is not my posting, just let u know.
I just totally agree with your opinion, and your critically way to see media and other informations. I think Japanese people are even less interested in whaling issue, than Australian people. That's why a lot of people were simply surprised and became cautious.
>>724 I've heard that those 2 people who pirated the Japanese vessel belong to a group called Sea Shepherd and they put a skull & cross-bones picture on their flag. It is said that the group consists of extreme environmental activists, so extreme that they were kicked out of Greenpeace! And they refuse to leave the vessel, that's because contrary to how it's probably reported in Australia, they are provided with very cozy air-conditioned room and nice food! Is this so-called Japanese hospitality? I don't know.
>>732 We aren't more interested in the whaling issue. There just isn't much else going on in Australia, lol. For god's sake, a kid who threw an out of control party made top headlines last week.
Australia has got a lot more environmentalists, which is funny, because we are one of the heaviest polluting nations per capita. The thing about us smaller countries like Australia, is that we usually sound louder than we are, because it's easier to make the news here.
I made sound very demeaning of my own country, but I find it very annoying that the government takes time to send customs boats down to the Arctic and focus on whales when our own public health system is in a terrible state, along with our child protection services. Why are whales more protected here than kids or the sick?
>>734 Like I said before, they probably won't leave the vessel because it'll stay in the news longer and look more sensational. They'll be giving magazine and televesion interviews after they get out, talking about brutality, as if boarding a ship illegally somehow isn't a serious offence. They're not just protestors, they're environmentalists, lol, you'll have to get used to stupid crap like this.
>>735 I watched the news about the crazy kid on CNN lol That's was funny. I think what they did is nothing for Americans... they're a lot crazier I don't get why this news was picked up by CNN.
sounds like ur a very smart person. Good to hear your opinion!!
>>705 I think you are on the good looking guy's end but I don't like the way you tried to be looked like in the photo, wearing trying to be good looking expression on your face.
I'd prefer you take a shot of yourself as usual snapshot. In the photo you looked like sedusing girls.
>>722 You are talking about your handle name you are going to use here?
Anyway, most common translation of anonymous is 匿名(とくめい)の So an anonymous linguist can be translated as 匿名の言語学者 Some people may think it sounds a bit odd but you can't say it sounds wrong. What do you mean by linguist , by the way? You mean professor or just a person who is talented in acquiring foreign languages? 言語学者 means a professor, not a person who is talented in foreign language. So if you mean the latter 言語学者 is not appropritate.
I said anonymous means 匿名の but in 2ch jargon, anonymous can be translated as 名無しの, whose literal translation would be "a person without name. You can call yourself 名無しの***, such as 名無しの言語学者
>>744 Oh, so you are from Dalarnas Ian, famous for its Dalahast!(Sorry, my PC cannot produce those two dots on the As, lol In Japan, the Dalahast horse is considerd a lucky horse, and I acutually have two refrigerator magnets (red and blue each) and one blue one that's standing in my book shelf. You guys must be having long dark nights but probably enjoying sking??
>>747 Dalarna is correct! There has been very little snow this winter, unfortunately. But long dark nights is absolutely right. The worst of both worlds...
(I don't know if it works in newer versions of Windows, but if you know about the Alt+keypad trick, Alt+132 is supposed to give you an 'ä'.)
And my apologies, but I have to leave soon. But let's talk later.
>>748 Thank you very much for your compliment. Actually, I have a job which involves use of English, but I'll probably and hopefully find a new job sometime in the near future. btw, >>749 is not me.
>>750 If the IME setting for the keyboard (in Regional and Languages) is set to US-International, the user can type " followed by an 'a' in order to receive the ä.
And to everyone else, what is the matter with Saitama's reputation?
>>753 Could you kindly respond to my question as follows? I was looking at a book on English Nursery Rhymes and found the following famous song, and would like to ask if the 'tigger' means 'tiger' there. Eeny, meeny, miny, mo, Catch a tigger by his toe, If he squeals, let him go, Eeny, meeny, miny, mo.
I've been thinking all along that the song was about a tiger, but is it about something else?
>>758 Thanx for your info! >Probably because we don't have any. Curious where you are from, lol~~
But anyway, "tigger" really rhymes with "nigger" more so than "tiger" don't you think? Presumably, children from a long long time ago were singing this song with "tigger"........
>>759 Again, I'm not a historian, especially not on these sort of things, but when I was a kid, we said tiger. I only heard the idea of it being "nigger" later on, and it may have just been a racial slur someone invented for that moment.
I'm from Australia, but we don't call the Aboriginals "niggers". It's strange that in this country the skinheads and rednecks never caught onto that word. If you wanted to insult them, I suppose you'd call them an "abo" or something (that's what wikipedia says, but Aussies always seem to abbreviate everything, so how do you know you're being insulted?)
>>757 It's really just a nonsense counting rhyme, as >>758 says, used by children. It originates from around 1850 and has quite a few different versions. In that case, 'tigger' does just mean 'tiger' (as there's a version that uses 'tiger' itself). The 'nigger' version appears in a Rudyard Kipling book for Scouts, as well as a song from the early 20th century. There is also a version used by the Americans during World War 2, but this is the worst possible place to repeat it.
>>763 Thank you very much for your response. Again, I'm very amazed at your vast knowledge of things. I've been very intereted in English nursery rhymes because they are a part of English culture, by that I mean, they are used everywhere even at present, such as movie/book titles, news paper head lines, etc. etc. e.g. All the President's men (All the king's men from Humpty Dumpty), Who killed Cock Robin?..... And probably some native English speakers use them even without knowing that they are from old nursery rhumes.
>>753 Saitama is near Tokyo. It is a prefecture north of Tokyo. Saitama is near Tokyo but not part of Tokyo. It is not far away from Tokyo. Some go to work to Tokyo by train. Some go shoppig to Tokyo. But Saitam can't be Tokyo. Saitama is Saitama forever. Some Saitama people feel inferior complex towards Tokyoites. Tokyoites tease Saitama people.
Saitama is put down by being called "dasaitama."
Dasaitama is a coined word by combining two words. Dasai + Saitama =Dasaitama Dasai means "uncool" "not sophisticated."
All in all, I think people in some region bad mouth to other regions. Sometimes they are rival cities, sometimes not. You enrich your knowledge about Japan again.
>>774 >It's a lot easier to become NEET. That's probably true when you are young. E.g. when I was very young, I longed for a life of Gypsy.... you live on a day-to-day basis. But as you become older and a bit wiser, you start to realize how difficult it is to live like that. For one thing, you must be extremely healthy, even to the extent of no cavity, because obviously, you can't have a health insurance to cover your medical expenses. But if you are talking about "Parasite single", i.e. you parasite to your parents by living under the same roof, then the situation must be very different.
>>779 Gypsys drink alot, hold illegal fights, and squat illegally on other people's land. They also get into a lot of trouble with the law and have blood feuds. Hey, that does sound like the life for a NEET like me!
I am 29, and a NEET and a jobless and a true virginity. Today, i went to Hello work to look for a good job because I'm tired to hear my mother's rubbish. I just wanted to say give me a nice job.
How I wish I could work and take alot of money.. Of course, I will have nothing to do tomorrow and day after tomorrow and next and nextnensntnenxtnentn
>>767 Trying to think of cases where we use them in everyday language... but anyway, I find their historical contexts very interesting. For example 'Ring-a-ring o' roses" and referencing the plague, or 'Georgie Porgie' and the reference to the first duke of Buckingham. Almost every rhyme has a background in history.
>>772 Thank you for your response, learned something new. My only exposure to 'Saitama' is through those parody animations of the Liberal Democratic Party logo, the one with the sun and two cats who always say "Saitama! Saitama, Saitama! Saitamaaaaa!".
although some young people who live with their parents earn money on their own, they never pay the money for food to their parents. I think they are the worst.
OTSU ― The Otsu District Court on Thursday sentenced a 36-year-old man to 18 years in prison for raping two women on trains and one inside a station restroom in 2006.
>>801 The internet makes it so that I don't need to know that, or better yet, completely ignore that fact. Besides, I live in a low income area. All we have are scrags and fat teen girls :(.
I am English and i wish we had either made an alliance with Germany or been invaded by them. Our country is shit now and as Hitler sees us as part of the greater Germanic brotherhood we would have been equals with them.
>>843 Only when I'm not really answering anything, and so not contributing to the discussion.
>>844 These past couple weeks, we've been having more flooding. Global warming affects us a little differently, though, because of the Gulf Stream and it's course, which makes our climate much more temperate. Global warming would gradually change the course of the Gulf Stream and actually make our climate colder.
>>846 I'm working/studying towards my MBA, so only really a part-time student. Don't really know that much, but take an interest in many things, especially those which shape our world and shaped our past.
>>852 When you introduce yourself, you should let everybody know your disadvantages, too. That increases your credibility. So You should've added that you are spoiled and can't kick the habit of collecting the garbages to boot.
>>852 From what age are British considered to be an adult by law? To be more specific, from what age, can you seen porn? We Japanese can watch porn and drive a car from 18, and drink alchole, smoke cigaretts and vote from 20. Not many obeys the laws except driving a car laws.
I would like to give a youtube's link of a bit explicit video to a British. He/she (I don't know which) says he/she is 20 on his own youtube page. The content of a video is both man and woman are naked (upper bodies) and they are kissing. At least it's not banned on youtube cuz it's not deleted. What do you think? Should I refrain from giving a link?
>>856 His sexual arousal to those things is definitely the darkest part of him, and he is aware of that. It's mainly because of all sorts of sexual indulgence he was allowed to experience by the age 12. It's just hard to confess sometimes.
>>858 18 is the age one is considered an adult, here. At 18, we are legally allowed to drink, vote, and buy adult material. At 17, we are allowed to take the driving test. Last year, the legal age for buying tobacco was raised from 16 to 18.
>>856 Disadvantages? Well... I have a wooden leg, specially crafted after losing my real leg in Vietnam. Anyway, I wouldn't want to kick my habit of garbage collection, since that is also my hobby.
Good morning everyone! Yeah, Its quaite lovely morning isnt it. BTW, I'm a NEET so I gotta get some job ASAP. lol But its sunday today, so Im gonna hole up in my room and play video games till I get bored! Gays, have a great day today! bye ya.
>>845 I have once heard that Britain is relatively warm for its high latitude thanks to the gulf stream. If uk gets colder and colder, Uk will become more inward-thinking and exclusive and nationalistic like russia. That's good for BNP.
>>871 In The Brothers Karamazov written by Dostoevsky, Lisa, who is 14 and Alexei Karamazov's lover, says "I can marry because I became 14 years old." The low has never changed for about 130 years? Unbelievable...!!!
>>874 No, it was forbidden until legal age (18 y.o.) until a few years ago. I don't know what is the reason to do that... Any sexual relations of legal aged man with 14+ girl (or woman with boy) are still illegal. Respect for you for remembering this fact, I forgot it already.
>>631 You're welcome. I'd say you should do whatever you like, but in another language, for practice. If you like movies, try watching some good foreign ones without subtitles. If you like books, how about reading a book in English? As long as you do something you like instead of just working on stupid cramming and crap like that (which I've heard Japanese schools focus on), you should be able to improve easily! And have fun at the same time!
>>633 I agree. The US release of number four is next month, can't wait for it!!
>>634 That's an RPG for real hardcore gamers, right? It's currently sold out everywhere, but I won't give up. One day, it'll be available somewhere.
>>647 I'd love to talk with you, but microphones don't work like they should on my new computer. I guess there are always problems when building the PC yourself. It's not like I can't fix it if I want to... I think.
I'll probably mail you sometime later, if I get things working here. It'll be English training for both of us, right?
How does the law define it? What about caressing her body, kissing for example? Are these act be included in "sexual relations?"
If a 13 years old girl loves 30 years old man and they made love and try to hide the fact that they slept, no one can know they slept with each other and no one can put him in jail right? So in my opinion, as long as girls don't think they are forced to have a sexual relationship , men will be never be caught by the police.
>>812 >>813 I am also failing classes. I took Japanese last term (no surprise) and now I have to make up for homework I didn't do. At least I have a second chance, but the next course starts today, and I probably should have done the extra assignments already. Sigh..
>>842 Talking about the weather? Well, it was raining for a couple of days, and now it's just grey and cold. Actually not so different from that one Irish winter I got to experience when I worked there. Except that it's dried up a bit now, and that we have working insulation in our houses over here...

As for learning kanji, I wonder how important it is for people to learn how to write the advanced kanji these days. Seems that most people look up kanji on their cellphones anyway, and it's easy to type advanced kanji that few people would bother writing by hand. Seems like kanji recognition is the most important part of learning kanji these days, at least for the advanced kanji that is.
I know about heisig, but the most important question is how to read kanji in combinations? Even if I know all kun and on readings I dont know how to read kanji in combinations. It is always different readings.
Self-responsibility? But you jews are manupilating stock price and embezzling money to you! That's the problem. Where is justice. We need a justice man in white mant right now! I don't know he will be next Hitler or Jesus Christ. Stock price plunges and change dramatically. Jews say it's adjustment.
So we need a dramatic political change, revolution! That is only a adjustment, new better solution learned from fiasco! What's wrong!

ポルノ(poruno-from porn-) 写真(syasin) 青写真(ao jasin) ステレオ(sutereo-from stereo-) 写真(syasin) which I learned right now from dictionary. I don't know the rule. I think we just learn by heart.
But sutero jasin would sound natural to me as well even though we don't use and hear the word, ステレオ写真 daily. kao syasin would rather sound like the act itself, taking pictures. That's my intuition. Not approved theory.
>>989 What the lyrics say is that the the world keeps going on (the birds keep singing etc) even when it feels like everything has ended. And at the same time, the lyrics give an idea how it feels when you are really down.
