He then gets dressed and begins his day, as the viewpoint pans about the surrounding rooms, which contain an assortment of objects from the 1960s to the present (accompanied by the song "Make Your Own Kind of Music" by Mama Cass, which is playing off of a vinyl record player). During this routine he injects something into his arm, from a vial labeled 4 8 15 16 23 42. He is interrupted by an explosion, spurring the man to arm himself with a rifle from an armory, before using a telescope-and-mirror system. As his gaze reaches further and further through the complex, it continues up a shaft to the faces of Jack and Locke standing around the now-open Hatch.
お願いします At the Hatch entry, Jack says that they should wait for the sun to come up. Locke, on the other hand, feels that their entry should not be delayed, even after Kate points out that the back of the Hatch door reads 'Quarantine. ' At the same time, at the caves, Shannon and Sayid search the jungle for Walt's dog, Vincent, who has run off. The pair find Vincent in a clearing, and attempt to catch him, but he continues to escape. During the search, the two are separated, and while alone, Shannon hears whispers in the jungle, and then Walt appears, dripping wet and speaking incoherently; it turns out that Walt says, backwards, "Push the button, Don't push the button. Bad. " When Sayid returns, he finds Shannon lying on the ground. Shannon looks back to try and see Walt, but he is gone.
During the walk back from the hatch, Hurley shares with Jack his story about the numbers inscribed on the outside of the hatch and how they are bad luck, but he is disappointed by Jack's disbelieving response.
お願いします Upon reaching the caves, Jack explains the situation to the survivors, promising them they will all be all right, as long as they stay together. No sooner has he finished saying this, then Locke appears, carrying cable and saying he is going into the hatch. Soon after, Kate follows behind him.
At the Hatch, Locke eases Kate down the shaft, when suddenly Kate realizes that there is something in there, and in a sudden burst of light from within the hatch, Kate mysteriously disappears.
お願いします Back at the caves, after informing the survivors why they went into the jungle and that Arzt is dead, Jack changes his mind about staying together, and decides that he is going after Kate and Locke. Upon reaching the Hatch, he finds no one there, and rappels down the shaft on his own to look for them. While exploring, he comes across a colorful painted mural which features the numbers, and also discovers a wall where the key hanging around his neck is pulled by a strong magnetic force. Finally, after being surprised by a bright light and loud music (specifically the Mama Cass song that played at the start of the episode), he enters what appears to be an underground geodesic dome, which contains an array of computer equipment from various earlier decades, including the 1970s-style computer with its command prompt glowing. As Jack is about to use it, Locke appears and tells Jack not to touch it. Jack raises the gun and asks, "Where's Kate?" Locke does not answer, as it is revealed that the as-yet-unnamed resident of the Hatch has a gun pointed at the side of his head.
お願いします Back in the underground dome, Locke tells Jack to put the gun down. The gunman threatens that he will shoot Locke if Jack does not surrender. Jack refuses, instead taunting Locke about his destiny. Finally, the gunman steps out and Jack recognizes him as Desmond.
Desmond holds Locke at gunpointIn the flashback sequences, Jack encounters his future wife, Sarah, who has arrived in his emergency room after a horrific car crash. The other victim, who dies when Jack has to choose which patient to work on first, shares Shannon's last name of Rutherford. Jack works to save Sarah, but even with surgery, is unable to restore full use of Sarah's lower body due to a spinal cord injury.
Later on, Jack is chastised by his father about his pessimistic bedside manner. While Jack is blowing off steam by running a Tour de stade he falls, and as a result meets a stranger, another runner named Desmond, who tells him that he is training for a race around the world. Jack shares with Desmond how he failed Sarah, and Desmond advises him about his need to feel and provide more hope. When Jack returns to Sarah's room, he discovers that she has experienced a miraculous recovery.

お願いします The forces of cultural modernizationーeducation, urbanization, and institutional orderー are producing social change in the developed world as well as on developing nations. During the twentieth century ,it became increasingly apparent to the citizens of a growing number of modern industrial societies that neither the church nor the state was omnipotent and that their leaders were more or less ordinary people. This realization has led citizens of modern societies to assign less weight to the guidance of their institutions and their leaders and to become more selfregulating. U.S. voters increasingly describe themselves as independents, and the fastest-growing Christian congregations in America are nondenominational.

Sovereign nations issue their own bonds, but they, too, may often rely on banks for financing and have done so since the Renaissance. There's nothing infamous or irresponsible about corporate or national debt -the modern world couldn't function without it,not without the banks that oil the global economic machinery. Not holding any debt would be real cause for concern -it would mean that the nation or a firm had no valuable assets, that its signature was worthless. In the rarefied sphere of corporate or state power, lack of credit-worthiness, not borrowing, is the cardinal sin.

On Friday the sun makes its first angle to Saturn since it entered your sign in early September. This therefore could be the week you find out that an endeavour is made of the right stuff or just what obstacles you face trying to get a project off the ground. And since the area of home and family is in the frame, the biggest obstacle may prove to be a relative or a piece of real estate! If you receive the thumbs up, have confidence that this is the right move at the right time but should a red flag appear, withdraw for the moment and reconsider your options. All may not be lost but the route you have taken is not up to the job: an alternative can be found.

You're in for a very busy, possibly hectic, month, Virgo - as if you didn't already know! You have excellent intentions and visualize the best possible outcome in various situations. This makes it easier (initially) to agree to extra duties and obligations. But be careful: You're in a Saturn cycle, which is all about boiling things down to the key ingredient and ultimate goal. You really can't afford to accept a plethora of new duties or extra responsibilities that others should handle for themselves. As difficult, awkward and guiltifying as it feels, do the basic minimum. Leave the extras to someone else. Even after you've pared things down to a very narrow cost, number or amount of time, you're still overcommitted. Do the tough thing this month: Say No like you mean it. Eventually, you'll feel amazingly free to pursue your interests and future, once you've transplanted others' responsibilities in their own backyards. The 11th is a universally strong, excellent day. It will include a certain amount of tension, of course, but may also offer a number of breakthroughs that make you feel pretty proud of yourself. Things begin to get even better after the 18th, when Jupiter moves into Capricorn, strongly indicating that something wild and wonderful is simmering (or about to) in your private life. Once you allow yourself to consider your own needs as opposed to everyone else's, there's no telling how fabulous things could get! Another thing: Saturn goes retrograde in your sign from December 19th through early May 2008. This is an opportunity to correct ongoing mistakes in relationships at home, work or school.
If your relationships seem to follow the same dismal theme, this is your moment to break the spell and get things right. The 20th is blessed with highs as well as a few typical Virgo-esque lows. You'll worry about things you have no control over. You'll overthink, overplan and of course, overprotect - just typical Virgo stuff. Once you get sick and tired of worrying, things tumble nicely into place, however. This should occur right around the 23rd. Christmas Day is also a wonderful time for you, but New Year's Eve may be more trouble than it's worth, especially if you' re fighting off a cold. It might be smarter to stay cozy, safe and warm at home お願い致します。
The term 'alien species' refers to species that we transfer, intentionally or inadvertently, from a place where they are native to another place whare they are not native. Sorne alien species are obviously valuable to us as crops, domestic animals, and landscaping. But others devastate populations of native species with which they come in contact, either by preying on, parasitizing, infecting, or outcompeting them. The aliens cause these big effects because the native species with which they come in contact had no previous evolutionary experience of them and are unable to resist them (like human populations newly exposed to smallpox or AIDS). There are by now literally hundreds of cases in which alien species have caused one-time or annually recurring damages of hundreds of millions of dollars or even billions of dollars.

急いで訳さなきゃいけないのですが、お願いします。 Survivors of The Explorer, the cruise ship that struck an iceberg and sank in the Antarctic, have begun to recount their frigid rescue as "terrifying" and the ultimate "adventure."
About half of the 154 passengers and crew are on their way home from Chile, where they were taken after the accident.
Tourists aboard The Explorer paid $14,000 for a 19-day adventure at sea, and definitely got more than they bargained for.
One relieved passenger said, "They promised us an adventure, but I didn't think they ever intended to make it this good."
After the ship hit the iceberg and started to sink in the middle of the night, the passengers were herded into small lifeboats, bobbing in water a few degrees below freezing.
American passenger Eli Charney told "Good Morning America Weekend Edition" in a phone call from Chile that the four of five hours he spent in a lifeboat was terrifying.
"I feared, I thought I was going to lose my toes, I was freezing out there, " Charney said. "Our room flooded very quickly and I was able to get my jacket. I got some pants. I didn't have a hat. I didn't have gloves, and I was freezing and very seasick on the lifeboat."
>>157のつづき Passengers were lucky because conditions that night were calm, with relatively little wind.
They were eventually rescued by a passing cruise ship and brought to a Chilean military base where they got fed, clothed and checked by military officers.
"They treated us perfect," said one passenger. "We were happy for the hospitality. We had beds, big mattresses, and blankets, and nice food and a cold beer."
Charney, like the other survivors, was grateful for the way things turned out. "It changes the way you think about things," he said. Ironically, The Explorer was on a voyage in the spirit of Earnest Shackleton, whose expedition in those same waters nearly a 100 years ago left him and his crew stranded on ice for months after the ship got stuck in the ice and sank not far from where The Explorer went down.
今日中なのでお願いします! Aboard the National Geographic Endeavor, Capt. Oliver Kruess was the first to see the stricken tourist ship Explorer from about 15 miles away. "They're all accounted for, no injuries whatsoever."
Hayes said 91 passengers, including 13 Americans, are currently on board the Nordnorge, a Norwegian cruise ship. The nine crew members are also safely on board.
>>165の続き The Explorer's emergency began when it struck a chunk of ice that tore a hole in its hull about the size of a fist, Hayes said. She called the evacuation process "calm," saying pumps were able to deal with incoming water until the Nordnorge arrived. Argentine rescue operations received the first distress call at 11:30 Thursday night.
A statement by the Argentine navy said that the captain ordered passengers to abandon ship about 90 minutes after the first call and that they and the crew took to eight semirigid lifeboats and four life rafts, with the captain leaving the ship later.
Still, Hayes said the ship is in danger of sinking. "It is listing. … There is a possibility we may lose the ship."
Capt. Arnvid Hansen, of the Nordnorge, said the rescue operation went smoothly. "All are aboard my vessel," he told Britain's BBC television. "There are no afraid passengers or anything like that."
"They were a bit cold and wet, but in good condition. We have brought them aboard and gave them warm clothes and food and accommodation so they are in a good mood now, " Hansen said.
The Explorer was listing badly off King George Island, which lies about 700 miles south of Cape Horn, the tip of South America.
The ship was in the middle of a 19-day cruise of Antarctica and the Falkland Islands that allowed passengers to observe penguins, whales and other forms of wildlife.

On the other hand, Japanese, in their use of pre-paid cards, show that they prefer not to owe money. Recently, however, Japanese have been using credit cards mush more. This may be a sign that they are becoming more westernized in their use of money. Japan is known throughout the world as an expensive country to visit. North America, on the contrary, is known for its low prices for almost everything. Some of the more extreme examples of comparatively high prices in Japan include golfing fees, rice, long distance telephone charges, and domestic airline tickets-until recently it cost more to fly from Sapporo to Fukuoka than it did to fly from to Los Angeles. As mentioned before, the cost of space or land is high and this has caused the prices of other things in Japan to increase. However, there are other reasons, which are related to culture, that explain the difference in the prices of things in Japan and North America.

It may seem at first sight easy to tell when a child knows what a word means. When a little girl of thirteen months sees a ball, says ‘ball’, and then may appear to be that the meaning of the word is now known to her. But if, during the next month or so, she is heard to say ‘ball’ on seeing a balloon, an Easter egg, a small round stone, and so on, doubts must begin to arise; and it may then seem wiser to replace the first conclusion by the more guarded one that the word ‘ball’ has now entered her word-stock and that her knowledge of its meaning has begun to grow. The above example is not invented. It is provided by Bowerman from a study of her daughter, Eva. And many similar instances have been recorded by Bowerman and others. So it is clear that, even in the case of ‘simple’ words like ‘ball’, the acquisition of word meaning is not an all-or-none affair. Word meanings grow and change-a fact central to an understanding of the development of thought and language. Thus it is by no means so easy as one might suppose to give a straightforward answer to the question: how large is a child’s vocabulary, on average, at different ages? 長文ですが、和訳お願いします。

Opposed to the orthodox laissez-faire economists were those like Wilhelm Ropke whose reports for the Brauns-Commission in 1931 stressed the need for a 'first spark' in the from of government investment programmes to get industrial production going again. Garvy has stressed that German economists were familiar by the 1920s with many of the ideas developed later in Keynes's General Theory. Books like those by Drager on 'Work-creation through the productive creation of credit' and Wagemann on 'Money and Credit Reform' , both published in 1932, could have provided the government wiyh the theoretical basis for expansionary policies. Efforts were even made to recruit Keynes to help to persuade the government to adopt a programme of public works, tax concessions and expanded industrial investment, but Keynes declined to help on the curious ground that his German was not good enough.

We all love to feign insouciance about cancer, or to tell apocryphal stories about its apparently random nature — of some haggard two-pack -a-day smoker who lived to be 96, versus the exquisite gamine who never smoked, always used sunscreen and did yoga, but went in for a routine checkup and was told she wouldn't see her 25th birthday. But while it used to be difficult to know who would and who would not be its victims, cancer is easier to predict these days. Its causes are actually very well understood, and many types of the disease are preventable — which helps to explain why braggadocio isn't heard in the oncology ward, a place full of regret. Picture yourself lying in one as your dumbstruck spouse and children hover over the bed. Are you really going to tell them you're glad that you ate the wrong foods, never set foot on a treadmill and never stopped smoking? That it was all worth it for a curtailed lifetime of artificial flavorings, binge drinking and postponed health screenings?
If the king would do this, he said, not only would he be most grateful to him, but he confirmed that the marriage alliance promised by his ambassadors would be fulfilled.
Of course not. But are you willing, in the meantime, to modify your behavior? Well, I wonder. Late last month, the World Cancer Research Fund released a report — Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity and the Prevention of Cancer: A Global Perspective — that unambiguously spelled out the things we can do to substantially reduce the risk of getting the disease. Based on an analysis of 7,000 previous studies, the report was billed as the most sweeping examination ever conducted of the relationship between cancer and the way we live. It advises us, inter alia, to be as slim as is healthily possible; limit red meat consumption and avoid processed meats completely; exercise every day; drink with scrupulous moderation, if at all (no more than two standard drinks a day for men, one for women); and forgo the gratuitous calories in things like soft drinks and fruit juice.
I was raised Catholic and did not believe in the teachings as a child or now as an adult as a way for me to live my life. Catholicism to me was filled with negative energy and a limiting view of the world.I did not feel it was loving or peaceful, even though I think the intention was that, the way it is practiced in general is not. That is why I gravitate towards Buddhism,it feels loving and peaceful.I believe the Bible is a wonderful book of literature, stories, and provided an example for many people on how to live their life, the best they knew how at the time, and the people who created Christian religions, created rituals of religion based on their perception, not necessarily the true meaning of the Bible.I also believe the Bible is just that, stories and interpretations of what Jesus said and did,but it is not literally written by Jesus,it was written by his disciples, so I do not take it as Jesus' word. feel as though the writings and letters from Nichren Daishonin or writings of Buddha in the Lotus Sutra were written by those individuals, not by someone else and their perspective,so they are true experiences and wisdom in writing.I do not enjoy organized religion because I believe God/Spirit/Universal is spiritual and can not be defined organized,or regimented.I believe spirituality is individual and unique to each person. That is one of the reasons I like practicing Buddhism, because it is way of life,it's spirituality, it is unique.
I struggle with the "religious"aspect of the The Soka Gakkai community and group because it does seem regimented and organize But overall,in comparison to Catholicism or even Christianity,I feel the Buddhism I receive from practicing under Soka Gakkai provides a portal for me to learn more about Buddhism, and learn how to incorporate Buddhism into my life.I do not follow and participate in Soka Gakkai activities other than chanting and connecting with other people who study and believe in living a life according to Buddhist principals in America because I feel it is too organized like a religion. But like I said, G has connected me to other Buddhist-minded ndividuals in L A (and abroad-like you!)and now I am learning more about the other kind of Buddhism out there that might be more aligned with who I am, what I believe, and how I choose to live spiritual(not religious) lifestyle.Living life according to Buddhist principles is not common in America, although it is popular in Los Angeles where I live, most Americans are Christian. And Christian belief of living are very different from Buddhism. Santa Claus and Christmas are a few parts of Christianity but there is much more to Christianity than just the holiday stuff. However, underneath of it all,I do believe that whether it was Buddha,Jesus,Mohammed, Hindu Gods, the intention of religion and spiritual practices and teachers and visionaries was the same,to live in and from love. I believe LOVE is what all spirituality is, because love is our natural state and anything else is going against who we truly are inside.

We have all been impatient for the time when the damnable vagueness that surrounds public discussion of cancer prevention (Is red wine O.K. or not? Is it cool to order extra bacon with that double cheeseburger?) would be finally dispersed. That time for clarity is now, and the report should therefore have been greeted by a global outburst of thanks, with copies duplicated and shoved in every letterbox. Instead, it has been met with either irritated silence or trite complaints. The feckless comments made to a discussion thread on the BBC news website were typical: "So the choice is, eat boring food, drink no alcohol and spend all my spare time in a gym in exchange for 10 extra years in an old people's home," read one. " If we listened to these scientists we would all be like supermodels eating a lettuce leaf for dinner," scoffed another wit. A couple of entries inevitably referenced the old debauchees that so many of us claim to have heard about but hardly anyone has met: "Can we have a study to find out why some people spend their lives doing everything that is supposed to be bad for them and yet still live until they're ninety?"

One of the first questions is about the best model of native-speaker English. Either British or American English is fine. Indeed, neither British nor American English is sperior to the language used in other English-speaking countries.

Whenever I read remarks like those, I am reminded of the fact that only 4% of our DNA sequences are different from those of chimpanzees, and that like our fellow primates we are but dumb mammals, powerless in the presence of cheap stimulants (Salt! Sugar! Fats!). The arguments we use to justify our dependence on them are callow and banal — why, for example, is eating healthily equated with being "boring," when nothing could be more boring than being dead? Why do we obsessively focus on the one-in-a-million 90-year-olds who survive against all odds, and ignore the countless multitudes who have had their lives radically foreshortened because of cancer related to drinking, smoking or obesity? Why do we utter banalities like "life is for living," even as we pay good money for foods and substances that are little better than poisons?
In the end, a few people will read the World Cancer Research Fund report and act upon it. Most people won't read it, or even want to hear about it, because they have no intention of ever putting down those pork franks or cigars or going on that 30-minute run. They will go on telling any one of the fairy tales that people who are committing slow suicide always tell themselves and each other: that they are happy with their choices, that they have no regrets, that when your time is up it's all to do with the archaic cosmological notion called fate and nothing to do with you.

Her interviewers, besides the male programme host, were three male academics, two of them full professors of English. I had read her book myself, and was keenly intersted in what she had to say. I was to be surprised and disappointed, however, for the great majority of the words uttered in the 15-minute interview were spoken by the men. In fact, although I did not take accurate measures, I estimated at the time that the author spoke for less than her 'democrartic' share of 3 minutes, much less than one might have expected under the circumsances. This did not seem to be due to the author's unwillingness or inability to contribute to the conversation - she had after all written the book. Moreover, I knew her to be a very intelligent and articulate person. I also noticed that she was interrupted in mid-sentence at least twice, although she did not interrupt anyone herself. Finally, although she was in her thirties and had got a PhD, she was addressed by her [first] name by the host and other interviewrs alike, and even at one point as "my dear", unlike the others, who were always addressed by their formal academic titles.
The issues raised by this episode are complex. 「What had captivated me was the behaviour of the participants, enacting the stereotype of male-female interaction. Most people probably expect women and men to respond differently in similar situations, and these expectations are not unreasonable in some cases, although in others they have no foundation in reality. Knowledge of a person's [ ] is just one of many bases for everyday behaviour.」 But I had expected the author to respond in an assertive manner - even though she was female, and assertiveness is not typically associated with femininity. I felt I needed to explain why her behaviour was at odds with my expectations. Were the interviewers responsible for her silence, bashing her into submission with an onslaught of assertiveness? Was she, afte all, stereotypically feminine in her interaction style? Did the formal setting overwhelm the participants' indivisual disposition? It even crossed my mind that the author had adopted a deleberate strategy in order to provide a subtle, living example of some of the things that she had written about. Most students want to develop both spoken and written language skills. So, it is important for students at all levels to spend time listening to English as well as reading. How much study time for listening and reading is best? For most people, not every day but two or three hours a week is practical. Good integranted skills textbooks include writting and speaking activities as well. Textbooks with controls for grammer, vocabulary, the speed of listening texts, and other language features are better for beginners. More advanced students can study by watching movies, listening to music, reading newspapers, and having discussions in English.

Instead of being recompiled instantly, the pages that need to be recompiled are listed in the job queue and are slowly recompiled as other edits are made, spreading out the load. It would be possible to make the job queue extremely large by repeatedly editing a particular highly-used template. This would present only an inconvenience, however, and would not bring down the site.
A side effect of the job queue is that it can take some time for changes to a template to become visible in all pages where the template is used. This can cause confusion among inexperienced users, who believe the template is broken and attempt to fix it instead of waiting for the changes to work through the job queue. Protection of highly-used templates helps to ensure that only editors familiar with the effects of editing templates make the changes.

What the government did not do was to introduce policies to stimulate demand or investment policies to increase national income, or not until compelled to do so by the changing political circumstances and the hign level of unemployment at the end of 1932. Stolper, among others, has suggested that expansionary or Keynesian policies were not pursued because no such alternatives were ever seriously proposed. The problem faced by those favouring unorthodox expansionary policies was their lack of political influence. This was not just because Bruning himself now seems to have been opposed to schemes of deficit-financing on theoretical grounds, but to the fact that the champions of a new economic theory were of junior rank or were outsiders like Ropke or Woytinsky with no political power base.

Cultural specifics can also tweak universal themes. Dr. Bulkeley and his colleagues have found that nightmares about falling through the air are common among women in Arab nations, perhaps for metaphorical reasons. “There’s such a premium in these countries on women remaining chaste, and the dangers of becoming a ‘fallen woman’ are so intense,” he said, “that the naturally high baseline of falling dreams is amped up even more.”

The family group consists of the parents and children, plus the grandparents if they live in the house or nearby. In fact, over the past fifteen years the formation of the Japanese household has moved away from the three-generation to the western type two-generation unit; grandparents are not living with their married children and grandchildren as much as they used to do. As the house is small, and the partitions are so thin that every word in an adjoining room can be heard, the relationship of the children with each other and with their parents is very close. There are the usual stresses of the generation gap; the grandparents can sit in this old-fashioned formal way too, but they are beginning to like to use chairs and there is one room in the house furnished in western style. But for the grandchildren, living at floor level becomes very uncomfortable after twenty minutes or so.

It is popularly supposed that the grandparents, and especially grandfather, must have received a terrible shock with the defeat of Japan’s imperialist aspirations in 1945, and that old Mr Suzuki cannot be expected to recover his confidence. But this is not necessarily true. Old Mr Suzuki has been through a great many changes during his life time. He remembers the period of liberalism in the 1920’s. As a student he had very advanced socialist views, and sometimes went out at night posting up slogans; if he was caught by the police, he had to spend the rest of the night sitting on the hard floor of the police-box without moving, but was released in the morning. Then, as now, the Japanese authorities recognized that young people need to make gestures of rebellion, but did not treat them as seriously as they would if the offender was a mature man. Grandfather was accused of having foreigners. He has a vague idea that the Japanese spirit will somehow succeed in solving the country’s problems, and he looks complacently at the economic successes which seem to prove him right. He was a soldier in China during the Pacific War, and though he fought bravely for his country, he also knows that there was a very seamy side to Japanese ultranationalism. He is not too dissatisfied with things now; the expectation of life is twenty years longer than when the was a boy, and he is pleased to see his children and grandchildren looking so well.

Analysis of gender equality To test our hypothesis that sex differences in mate preferences erode to the extent that women and men are similarly placed in the social structure, we sought cross-national indicators of gender equality. Among the many such indicators compiled by United Nations researchers, the most direct indicator of gender equality is the aggregate Gender Empowerment Measure, which represents the extent to which women participate equally with men in economic, political, and decision-making roles. This index increases as (a) women’s percentage share of administrative and managerial jobs and professional and technical jobs increases, (b) women’s percentage share of parliamentary seats rises, and (c) women’s proportional share of earned income approaches parity with men’s.

Similar restrictions are imposed by most other brokerages. His wife may well find her larger group in some religious sect. As a rule, the sect will not encourage her to sell political power but it will concentrate on helping her with family problems. A main concern in life is to be integrated into one or more groups, and it is often very difficult for a Japanese to think of himself as other than a member of a group. As a result, if he has to leave his group-go abroad, for instance-he may feel much more lost and homesick than British people do, and he envies them their self-sufficiency. In Japan one person may be a member of different groups. Some of them maintain intensity of feeling partly by regarding other groups with hostility. The smaller sub-groups lay aside this hostility when functioning in the context of a larger group, for instance the region. Success stories appear frequently in U.S. newspapers. In 1997, when Tim Olsen of Cranberry, New Jersey, was 8 years old, hisparents believed that he should start a savings program. By the time he was 13, Olsen had published a book called The Teenage investor. As his allowance from his parents increased from $15 to $30 per week, hespent $10-$20 of it and saved what was left. Now, when his savings reach $200, he invests it in stocks. He reads books on investing and does research on the Internet, and he expenses from money he’s made on the stock market.

Some young people invest in other things, too. When Bill Kelly, a college sophomore, saw his hometown of Las Vegas growing and housing prices increasing every year, he invested in real estate. Kelly bought an apartment in a newly built complex, and now, almost a year later, its market price has increased by 50 percent. “I can afford to make the monthly payments by working after school,” he says. The apartment stands empty, and Kelly plans to “flip” it soon and buy another apartment in a condominium that will be built later in the year. “Flipping”−buying real estate and selling it at a profit−has become a popular from of investing, even among young people. Because there is great demand for living space in some cities, lenders will provide financing for people who are thought to be good risks.

It increases with a society’s basic capabilities to provide health (i.e.,greater life expectancy), educational attainment and literacy, and wealth, but imposes a penalty for gender inequality in these capabilities. Whereas this measure reflects equality in basic access to health care, education and knowledge, and income, the Gender Empowerment Measure is a purer indicator of equal participation in economic and political life. In the set of 37 cultures, the Gender Empowerment Measure and the Gender-Related Development Index were moderately correlated with general indexes of human development and economic development. One limitation of the indexes of gender equality is that they are based on data from the early 1990s. Because Buss et al.’s (1990)data were collected in the mid-1980s, these indexes are from a slightly later time period, but the relative positions of the cultures should remain approximately the same.

As a result of the problems above, UNESCO put Angkor on its List of World Heritage in Danger in 1992. But UNESCO is just one of many groups trying to preserve this ancient place. Laws that will protect Angkor have been made. Work on the buildings is regularly checked. Tourism is being controlled, and a national protection agency has been set up. Today, Angkor is the largest preservation workshop in the world. Japan is playing an important role in this workshop by educating and training the Cambodians to survey and repair the area for themselves. After all, Angkor Wat is a symbol of Cambodian pride. It appears both on the national flag and in the national anthem. In our times, the people of Cambodia have suffered deeply from the country’s political troubles. Angkor, too, has suffered enough. By bringing the greatness of Cambodia’s past back to life, it is hoped that the very heart of the Cambodians themselves will be restored.
Some 3.6 million years,in what is now northen Tanzania, a volcano erupted, the resulting cloud of ash covering the surrounding savannas. In 1979, the paleoanthropologist Mary Leaky found in that ash footprints-the footprints, she believes, of an early hominid, perhaps an ancestor of all the people on the Earth today. And 380,000 kilometers away, in a flat dry plain that humans have in a moment of optimism called the Sea of Tranquility, there is another footprint left by the first human to walk another world. We have some far in 3.6 million years, and in 4.6 billion and in 15 billion.

You're ultra focused and determined to win at whatever you're doing this morning. If you're doing your best to outdo your previous record, you'll probably do it. If you're plowing over the competition, you should be very successful. (Isn't it hilarious that it's easier for you to beat others than to break your own personal best record?) This afternoon slows things down a couple notches. No matter how well planned an event or occasion is, there are bound to be delays or dumbo-esque mistakes - not by you, of course. The good news is that you get through it and should enjoy a very rewarding (possibly sex-drenched) evening.
お願がい致します Japanese society treats the criminal not as an absolute outcast, rather as one who has gone wrong but who may yet go right. Great importance is attached to understanding the motives of the accused. On the Central Criminal Court at the Old Bailey is a figure of the Greek goddess of justice, with a bare sword in one hand, and scales in the other-it is the very incarnation of impersonality, unwavering and severe. In the Supreme Court of Japan, by contrast, are three big murals of the seventh-century Japanese saint-ruler Shotoku Taishi; the three murals depict the necessary quotation from an early Chief Justice of Japan, Ishida Kazuto, has a favorite quotation from an early Chinese writer: ‘To see what is without from; to hear what is without voice’.
続きです It implies that the judge must penetrate to the invisible and inaudible motives of the parties, and take into account. In general, prison sentences in Japan are comparatively light. For example, the leader of one of the biggest student riots, which occupied a university campus and defended its main building for a long time, terrorizing other students, doing an enormous amount of damage, and hurling down acid on the police when they finally stormed the place, spent only one year in prison. Compare this with the sentences in Britain-the longest was eighteen months-on the students who on one sole occasion forced their way into the Garden House Hotel in Cambridge a couple of years ago, frightening some guests and smashing a couple of windows.

Our daughter was born in late February, and they are both doing very well.Grace, our older daughter, now goes to preschool two mornings each week. It is a school for the youngest children, and they mostly learn to socialize with other children there. She really enjoys it. The holiday season is in full swing here. Here, the season begins in late November with Thanksgiving, which is a holiday that originated with the pilgrim settlers of the US. It is traditional to eat roast turkey, cranberries, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. Then the month between Thanksgiving and New Years is filled with parties and celebrations. It is easy to eat too many sweets during this time, as they are readily available everywhere you turn. We just put up our Christmas tree last weekend, and Grace loves looking at the pretty l ights and ornaments on it.She is enjoying the holidays this year. She was too little to understand last year.
Modern civilization depends heavily on fossil fuels for its prosperity. Without coal, gas and oil, its factories would grind to a halt and its transportation systems would be paralyzed. These resources, however, are limited. Most energy specialists agree that supplies of oil and gas will be exhausted within the next fifty years and that coal will become increasingly more expensive to extract as mines get deeper. Moreover, the burning of fossil fuels is the primary cause of air pollution, acid rain and grobal warming. It is therefore very important to develop renewable sources of energy which do not harm the environment. よろしくお願いします。
Twenty Something, Inc., is a marketing consulting company focused on young adults and the trends they follow. The company recently conducted a survey of 18- to 20-year-old Americans with Internet access. Most of those interviewed said they thought financial planning was “extremely important.” More than previous generations, they don’t believe American’s Social Security system will provide enough income for them to enjoy retirement. And that is why financial advisors are finding customers among these young investors.
If I could teach him a little confidence, it would be doing somebody that I know of a piece of service. But who is that somebody? That, faith, is a question I can scarce answer.
Finding the reason for this new trend is easy. College fees and other costs have risen sharply, but most families’ incomes have not risen as fast. As living costs rise in the U.S., young people find that the allowances they receive from their parents are enough to pay for the things they feel are necessary. Cell phones, cars, trendy clothing and nights out require more money. Many young people find that money is easy to earn by investing. Some want reserve fund a “nest egg” for vacations or to cover unexpected expenses. The financial industry happily provides research, guidance and administrative services to these new investors.

By contrast, we encounter an undeniable cult of art for art’s sake at the beginning of the Roman Empire. This may well be one of the most striking among the many analogies to our own age which that time offers us. Pliny and Petronius in particular testify to the mania for antiquities in their time, and to another important similarity− the preference for order works of art over modern ones, which can be found in both periods. But we know far too little of the circumstances in which the art of the Roman Empire took shape to penetrate these surprising phenomena with sufficient clarity. Nonetheless, it must be noted that collectors exclusively sought works by famous sculptors and painters of the fifth and fourth centuries B.C.
It can be no coincidence that, as the sources indicate, collectors operated not so much as art lovers but as collectors of rarities. This must have been a hobby for the immensely rich who sought new values so as to rival one another. It may be that the decline of the Greek religion with its twelve deities played an important role in this. The virtual cessation of this practice in the third century A.D. suggests that it was not deeply rooted in the culture.
Thatthe state did not regulate this market in rarities is quite comprehensible. No art historian will deny that this phenomenon must have been connected with the general development of the visual art s during the early years of the Empire- one imagines a new and rapidly expanding interest in the predominantly visual qualities of objects and their corresponding representation in the visual art’s, which as such is also characteristic of our time. Further investigation may reveal the Roman’s love of antiquities during the first and second centuries to have been an anachronistic predecessor of the modern commemorative value; at any rate, nothing further came of it because during the period of migration there was no devotion to any art intimately tied to pagan deities.
Wonderful breakthroughs and brilliant achievements can be the result of this conjunction, but so too are intense power struggles and, if you've been trying to hold a situation together with a wing and a prayer, it probably won't survive this December Nonetheless, what comes or goes this month is in your absolute best interests, even though you may have difficulty believing this at the time. お願いします
To examine the relation between societal gender equality and mate preference, we calculated the correlations of these indexes with the sex differences in valuing a mate as a breadwinner and as a domestic worker ―the two criteria most relevant to the traditional division of labor. These correlations for the ranking and the rating data, which appear in Table 12.1, are generally supportive of the social structural predictions. As the Gender Empowerment Measure increased in value, the tendency decreased for women to place greater emphasis than men on a potential spouse’s earning capacity, although the correlation with the rated criterion was relatively weak. Also, as the Gender Empowerment Measure in creased, the tendency decreased for men to place greater emphasis than women on a potential spouse’s domestic skills. As expected in terms of the Gender-Related Development Index’s less direct representation of the similarity of the roles of women and men, its correlations with these with these sex differences were somewhat weaker. 和訳おねがいします。

With the arrival of St. Patrick around 450 A.D., an amazing number of Irish took up the Catholic faith. St. Patrick, who had been a prisoner of the Celts, knew their language and understood their traditions. As a result, he was able to include many of their traditional customs into his Christian teachings.
He used bonfires celebrate Easter because the Irish had honored their gods with fire. He added the sun, an important Irish symbol, to the Christian cross, creating what is now known as the Celtic cross, he was so successful in bringing Catholicism to the country that the Irish believed he was responsible for a number of remarkable events. According to one story, he drove all the snakes out of Ireland and into the sea. While it is true that there are no snakes in Ireland, there is no proof that St. Patrick was responsible for this good fortune.

What he was responsible for was, for the first time, bringing people to Christianity without significant influence of the Roman Catholic Church.
In other words, St. Patrick combined what was best about the Celtic heritage with the more practical aspects of the Catholic Church.
The country of Ireland became the “Land of Saints and Scholars,” producing many other saints and, more importantly, monks who could read and write.
A lot of people believe that these monks recorded a great part of Western Civilization during the collapse of the Roman Empire.
The monks traveled throughout Europe and collected both Roman and Greek writings, which they brought back to their monasteries in Ireland and copied word-for-word.
Had the Irish not became Catholics, the Church and our understanding of early Western history would be different.

The Republic of Ireland, which separated itself from the United Kingdom in 1922, was greatly influenced by the Catholic Church until the 1990s. Because of poverty and the endless tides of people leaving the country, Ireland held onto its strong Catholic beliefs while it watched generation after generation of its young people leave for lands that offered better opportunities.
Finally, the Irish government began introducing a number of economic policies that slowed down inflation, eased tax burdens, promoted foreign investment and reduced government spending. Today, Ireland has the second highest per capita income of any country in the European Union except Luxembourg.

Blazing with particularly patriotic fervor in the limbic system are the amygdala and anterior cingulate cortex, constituting what Steven H. Woodward, a psychologist at the V.A. hospital in Menlo Park, Calif., terms the brain’s “axis of fear.” At the same time, the prefrontal cortex, seat of rational thought and critical reasoning, is on lunch break, Dr. Levin said, “which is why you can have a dream where something has 4 heads and 12 legs, and you think, ‘No problem, what’s next?’”
Yet this increased wealth has produced a separation from the Church that is new to Ireland. While 88 percent of the population still call themselves Catholic, the daily influence of the church is decreasing in their personal lives. As father Greeley, a well-known American Catholic researcher, explains, “Like many other Catholics, the Irish are still Catholic, but now it is on their terms.”
Father Greeley’s statistics show that while 94 percent now believe that abortion is always long, and only 30 percent believe that having sex before marriage is a sin. He thinks that while the Irish don’t think much of the organized Church, they still have a great deal of face in the priests in their local areas.
Another observer, Dr. Tom Inglish, explains the changes in Irish society from are different angle. “Being a good Catholic.” he says, “is no longer as significant as it once was in achieving success in business, politics or other fields of social life. It has increasingly turned into a private affair.”
The country’s birthrate has decreased as many more married women work outside the home. The abortion rate is estimated to have risen from 4.5 percent in 1980 to over 10 percent in 2002. Within that same time period, births outside of marriage have risen greatly from 5 percent to 31 percent of the total births reported. David Quinn, an Irish journalist, has suggested that increases in drug and alcohol use, suicides, and sexually transmitted this is diseases all are results of the decline of religion and that Irish society has lost its moral direction.

Tere are two morals. The first is that mere high-sounding praise of friendship without corresponding deeds is wrong, just as a foolish acquiescence to the unreasonable demands of friendship is wrong.Yet it is tempting to supply an additional level of meaning to the tale beyond that of the moral tale.

Bill Gates, one of the world's richest people, lives near Seattle in the world's "smartest" home. More than 100 computers control everything in this fantastic mansion. As Gates is driving home, he can fill his bath with water at the perfect temperature. When he gets near the entrance, the big gate opens just before his arrival. Sensors under the floor follow his step inside the house. When Gaes entters a room, the lights turn on by themselves. He doesn't need to turn them off because they darken automatically as he leaves. His favorite music plays in each room as he walks through the house, and it can even follow him outside. When he jumps into the pool for a swim, the same music plays underwater. Gates has a lot of art on his walls, but he never gets tired of it. The pictures change automatically because they are digital. A "smart home" is expensive now, but we can all look forward to living in one in the future. "It's going to happen very quickly," promises Dave Farber of the University of Pennsylvania.
Has Ireland given up its Catholic roots? Is it soon to join the ranks of the other Western European countries who have become either completely non-religious or “Christian” in name only? Has Ireland lost its moral direction? While there are real concerns among the Catholic authorities, most signs are that Ireland is still very Catholic.
Even though the number of people at Mass each week has declined, it is still high in relation to most Western countries. Eight-five percent of the Irish still believe in haven and in miracles. Father James Noonan of central Dublin says, “when the priests are available and willing to sit and listen, the people will come.” The people pf Ireland are still going to both their churches and their local priests. That has not changed, and chances are it never will.
It is generally said that the effect of estoppel is not to create a cause of action, but only to give rise to a defence.Suppose, for example, that A induces B to hire a car by innocently representing that it is in good running order, and that the contract requires B to keep the car in repair.
In such a case estoppel would not entitle B to damages if the car was in fact unroad worthy; but it could provide B with a defence if, immediately after the conclusion of the contract,A sued B for failing to remedy the very defects which the car had when it was handed over to him.
There are many reasons circumstances. Rates of abortion depend on the country. In the USA for example25% of women have an abortion. In Russia 60% do and InRomania, where there are not many contraceptives,78% do. In countries with little or no contraceptives, abortion is the only method of birth control.
To most pro-lifers,human life begins at conception. The Catholic Church says abortion is a sin because they believe that killing un born baby is muder. Theybelieve therefore, that abortion is unethical and immoral.
Pro-lifer say that sperm and ovum are beginning of life. If you look at a pperm or an ovum with a microscope you wold see that they are both alive inside our bodies now. But is it life? This is a question which science cannot answer. The answer depends on our interpretation of the wold 'life'.Is a sperm,a3-week-old fetus or a3-month-old fetus human or noe? We have the power but do we have the right to kill an unborn baby?
Basically, we have to decide for ourselves.
Why do you think the rate of abortion in Rumania is quite high?
Hou do people in countries with little or no contraceptives control birth?
Accoding to most pro-lifers,when does humanlife begin?
Can science answer whether sperm and ovum are the beginning of life or not?

No, it's never pleasant to have someone you dont' even know who tells you he loves you, etc..but I do not have a horrible souvenir of him. He was my age and was kind of a "lover" I think. When I told him that I couldn't take it anymore, he understood and left me alone, and never insisted, even though he had my email, msn address and my phone number. So it ended correctly!

Was there truly something referable-to as“I”that was“shoving around”various physical brain structures, resulting in the sending of certain carefully coordinated messages through never fibers and the consequent moving of shoulder, elbow, wrist, and fingers in a certain complex pattern that left the book upright in its original spot―or,contrariwise, were there merely myriads of microscopic physical processes(quantum-mechanical collisions involving electrons, photons, gluons, quarks, and so forth)taking place in that localized region of the spatiotemporal continuum that poet Edson dubbed a“teetering bulb”?

I also remember my grndfmother talking far to the butcher shop to be reclaimed and going downtown to the federal building to toss aluminium scrap into the window wells on the sidewalk side of the building.
But what I remember mosu is Mr.Bernhauser. He was our back yard neighbor. He was especially mwan and unfriendly to kids, but he was also rude to adults. He had an Italian plum tree that hung over the back fence. If the plums wear on our side of the fence, we could pick them, but GOD help us if we got over the fenceline. All hell would break loose. He would scream and yell at us until one of our parents came out to see what the fuss was about. Usually it was my mother, but this time is my father.

The preference data for each sex reported in table 12.1 provide insight into these sex-difference findings. For good housekeeper and cook, the correlations for both the rating data and the ranking data indicated that as gender equality increased, men decreased their interest in choosing mates for their skill as domestic workers, and women showed no change in this preference. In contrast, for good earning capacity, as gender equality increased, women decreased their emphasis on mates’ earning potential in the rating data (although nonsignificantly in the ranking data). However, men’s preferences for good earning capacity are more difficult to interpret because their relations to gender equality were inconsistent across the ranking and rating measures. Inconsistencies between the two measures may reflect that rankings are judgments of the relative importance of the criteria in relation to the others in the list, whereas ratings are judgments of the absolute importance of the different criteri. 長文で申し訳ありませんが、和訳お願いします★★
Cute cues are those that indicate extreme youth, vulnerability, harmlessness and need, scientists say, and attending to them closely makes good Darwinian sense. As a species whose youngest members are so pathetically helpless they can't lift their heads to suckle without adult supervision, human beings must be wired to respond quickly and gamely to any and all signs of infantile desire.
No one liked Mr.Bernhauser very much. but my father was particularly against him because he kept all the toys and balls that had ever landed in his yard. So there was Mr.Bernhauser yelling at us to get the hell out of his tree, and my father asked him what the problem was. Mr.Bernhauser took a deep breath and launched into a diatribe about thieving kids, breakers of rules, takers of fruit, and monsters in general. I guess my father had had enough, for the next thing he did was shout at Mr.Bernhauser and tell him to drop dead.
Mr.Bernhauser stopped screaming, looked at my father, turned bright red, then puple, grabbed his chest, turned gray, and slowly folded to the ground. I thought my father was GOD. That he could yell at a miserable old man and make him die on command was beyond my comprehension.

I remember that Ray Hink lived across the street. We were in the same grade, and his grandmother lived upstairs. She was a tiny old woman who always wore a high-coller dress. She sat in the window with a pair of opera glasses and kept watch on the neighborhood. If we were good, she would let us look through the glasses and smell the rose petals she kept in an alabaster jar on her table.
She said that the rose petals were from Germany and the jar was from Greece. One afternoon, I was allowed to handle the precious glasses and was looking out at the street. A cab pulled up, and a tall, skinny sailor got out. He shook hands with the cabby, who took a seabag from the trunk, and I knew that it was my Uncle Bill, home from the war. My grandmother came running down the steps into his arms. She was crying.
I remember the stars that hung in the windows of some of our neigbors'houses. My grandmother told me it was because someone had lost a son in the war. I was glad that we didn't have any stars in our window. That night we had a huge celebration for Uncle Bill. I went to sleep feeling glad that my uncle was home safe. I didn't think about Mr.Bernhauser anymore.
A defiant North Korea test-fired a long-range missile Wednesday that may be capable of reaching America, but it failed seconds after launch, U.S. officials said.
The North also tested four shorter range missiles in an exercise the White House called "a provocation" but not an immediate threat.
The audacious military tests by the isolated communist nation came despite stern warnings from the United States and Japan-and carried out as the U.S. celebrated the Fourth of July and launched the space shuttle.
None of the missiles made it as far as Japan. The Japanese government said all landed in the Sea of Japan between Japan and the Korean Peninsula.

Then follows the development section and recapitulation, shared by soloist and orchestra. Towards the end of the recapitulation, the orchestra pauses, and the soloist plays cadenza - a showy passage based on themes heard ealier, which displays the brilliance of the player's technique.(Orginally, a soloist was expected to improvise a cadenza on the spot; later on, composers began to write out the music they expected to be played.)A cadenza usually ends with a trill - the signal for the orchestra to re-enter to play the coda.

Laws that mete out extra punishment for bias-motivated crimes have the approval of the High Court. It should be noted that in this respect the Supreme Court is in agreement with the Clinton administration, which also approves of sentence enhancement for crimes that are motivated by biology. On the other hand, when it comes to speech and the expression of ideas, it seems that the Supreme Court will bend over backwards to protect First Amendment rights. This is not to say that the Court has signalled that certain kinds of speech can't be prohibited. However, states and municipalities that draft legislation in an effort to curtail the expression of hate and bigotry will, as a result of the decision in R.A.V.v.St.Paul, have to be very careful that their laws are not in violation of the Constitution.
What, then, are we left with? Fingers crossed, that those who say Iran's nuclear bomb is years away are right. Fingers crossed, that maybe Iran really does just want a civilian nuclear program. Fingers crossed, that if Iran gets nukes, its government will behave responsibly. Fingers crossed, that all of the other crises whose resolution has been hampered or damaged by Iraq -- Pakistan, Afghanistan, the broader Middle East -- will somehow solve themselves, too. Fingers crossed, that it will all come out right in the end, after a decade or two. Just like Iraq.
I do not consider that making no mistakes is a blessing. I have erred once, but Ishall not make the same mistake again. Nothing is gained by wasting time in regretting mistakes. It is much better to employ that time in analyzing and correcting what is wrong. The greatness of man does not lie in his being faultless. Error is sometimes inevitable. The real virtue of man lies in recognizing that fauls can be set right and striving to correct them.

To write about human aggression is a difficult task because the term is used in so many different senses. One difficulty is that there is no clear dividing line between those forms of aggression whichi we all deplore and those whichi we must not disown if we are to survive.

But suppose you try to explain all this to your friend, and he says "I know the head librarian wouldn't like it if he found out, and probably some of the other users of the library would be unhappy to find the book gone, but who cares? I want the book;why should I care about them?" The argument that it would be wrong is supposed to give him a reason not to do it.

"We do consider it provocative behavior," National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said.
President Bush has been in consultation with Hadley, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld.
The State Department said Rice will start conferring tonight with her counterparts from China, Japan, South Korea and Russia.
Hadley said the long-range missile was the Taepodong-2, which failed 35 seconds after launch. Experts believe the Taepodong-2-North Korea's most advanced missile with a range of up to 3,730 miles-could reach the United States with a light payload.
According to Chinese legend, pathways, or meridian lines, of energy known as chi, flow through the human body. Free-flowing chi was thought to lead to a healthy body and spirit, but problems with the flow could lead to illness. Tai chi, based on this principle,is a series of stretches and flowing body postures, which re-channel the body's chi and absorb energy from the air and trees.
The underlying theory behind acpuncture is that there are twelve meridian lines flowing through the human body. Each line has sensitive acupuncture points. By inserting fine needles at these points, therapists can stimulate the related organs and muscles and redress energy imbalances and blockages along the line. The Japanese practice of shiatsu uses physical pressure instead of needless.
Reflexology is a foot massage based on a philosophy of energy channels similar to the Chinese meridian lines. In the West, the gap between orthodox and alternative medicine is narrowing, although in many instances the therapeutic power of alternative medicine remains to be explained by science.
As shown in table 12.2, examination of preferences for a spouse’s age showed that as gender equality increased, women expressed less preference for older men, men expressed less preference for younger women, and consequently the sex difference in the preferred age of mates became smaller. These relations suggest that sex difference in age preferences reflect a sex-differentiated division of labor. Interpretation of the magnitudes of the correlations reported in tables 12.1 and 12.2 should take several considerations into account. One feature limiting the strength of these relationships is the assessment of the mate selection preference with one-item questionnaire measures. Also, the indexes of gender equality imperfectly represented the critical conceptual variable, the extremity of the division of labor between male providers and female homemakers. In addition, the sampling of respondents was not uniformly implemented across the 37 cultures, nor would these samples have corresponded to those that contributed to the indexes of gender equality. Finally, there may be a time lag between the social and economic changes reflected in these indexes and shifts in the individual preferences that constitute the 37 cultures data. For these several reasons, it is plausible to conclude that the correlations we report underestimate the true magnitude of the predicted relationships.

Bruning's capacity for action during the depression was crucially governed by political questions.
In the first place, as Bruning himself has argued since, German policy was dependent on the attitude and actions of other powers.
This is a point that needs to be re-emphasised; recent historians have been too ready to relegate it to the sidelines.
Reparations required that Germany be seen to be behaving responsibly in economic affairs.
So, too, did the high level of foreign debt that bound Germany much more than other powers to more scrupulous trade and financial policies.
A high premium was placed upon confidence in Germany's creditworthiness as a precondition for any renegotiation of the Versailles settlement, a fact of increasing importance in 1929-31 with the growing strength of French finances and the possibility of retaliation against German default.
Some of these arguments seem hard to sustain in the light of the Nazis' ability to ignore international agreements and financial arrangements at will, but nevertheless the evidence shows overwhelmingly that international political considerations governed a large part of German policy-making in the central years of the depression.
Ecological wisdom is a deep awareness of myself as part of the web of life here on earth and fundamental respect for the patterns of nature. This is present in an unreflective way in primal peoples all over the world. But the modern developed pattern of living has replaced it with an exploitative attitude to our environment. There are four main reasons why ecological wisdom is a crucial part of any genuine way of life today. よろしくお願いします。

The State Department said the smaller missiles includes Scud and Rodongs. The Scuds are short-range and could target South Korea. The Rodong has a range of about 620 miles and could target Japan.
The launch came after weeks of speculation that the North was preparing to test the Taepodong-2 from a site on its northeast coast.
The preparations had generated stern warnings from the United States and Japan, which had threatened possible economic sanctions in response.
North Korea had observed a moratorium on long-range missile launches since 1999.
It shocked the world in 1998 by firing a Taepodong missile over Japan and into the Pacific Ocean.

This fact throws into sharp relief the central answer to the question of why the German government failed to respond to the depression with Keynesian or quasi-Keynesian policies. Much recent research in Germany has been concentrated on showing how economic choices were governed by political pressures and constraints, particularly through domestic politics rather than foreign policy; Innenpolitik rather than Aussenpolitik, on which more traditional explanations have been based.

Robert Schumann based many of his pieces on poems meant to evoke specific feelings in the listener, such as the exhilaration of a fresh spring day in the song "In the Beautiful Monthe of May." Other romantic composers promoted even more ambitious ideas and wrote texts of words or "programs" to be read by the audience before the music was played. With instructions that detailed the images the composer was attempting to convey, "program music" specifically describes stories, objects, or scenery. The concept was defined by composer Franz Liszt as an introduction "added to a piece of instrumental music...to direct attention to the poetical idea...of it."
