>>17 Well, when you do it as ○| ̄|_ it makes alot more sense I see it now obviously. I could ASCII, but on this US keyboard I'm not sure which key is what character
Here is an English language forum for ASCII art: http://4-ch.net/ascii/ There is probably some useful thread there. Have you been to 4-ch? It's closest to English equivalent of 2ch, I think.
>>37 Aah, I haven't taken college Japanese classes I meant Highschool classes I suppose University level Japanese majors might learn Hirigana and Katanakana etc.
>>43 We learned some, like the symbol for toilet but I mean, they don't teach enough where I could go to a non-english thread and know what anyone is saying Understanding spoken, and being able to speak, Japanese is enough for me
>>50 not against (well some maybe). but they stop to posting when there are many foreigners because of poor english or just to read what foreigners say.
Unless it is foreign woman then it becomes very busy here
>>54 Aah, people are afraid to post if their English is too poor? I frequent IRC so I am very accustomed to people who aren't natural born English speakers. So feel free to post guys XD
There is two foreign woman here, one is k-tan and the other is ^__^ from Mexico. k-tan has very smart posts, I think she is a programmer, so men will not lust after her.
>>62 Apparently they work their employee's like dogs Also you have to share an apartment with 3 other people and pay full rent even though you are sharing
>>62 they do not care for the students or the teacher. NOVA has no interest in helping students learn only making money. They don't care who they hire as teachers and many teachers don't care to do the job properly.
>>64,66 Thank you. But I am under the impression that almost anyone can be a English teacher in Japan anyway. Do other companies have higher standards?
>>69 you will have difficulty finding your own place though. apartment land lords and realestate agencies are not often friendly to foreigners. especially if you can't read.
>>71 That's why some dislike English teachers. Japanese English teachers can probably do a better job because they are familiar with both languages. The only thing that the Japanese teacher is lacking is conversation skills, which are not so important in Japan anyway.
>>73 you cannot bargin such things as rent. Japan apartment finding is a very annoying system. And as an english teacher you would probably not have enough money to pay more rent
>>75 They probably would be, nonetheless there are tons of positions for foreigners to teach English. NOVA is fully English however, you can't talk Japanese in the class, it is forbidden even for the teacher.
>>76 Even though it sounds stuck up, I could get my parents to pay my rent and they could more than afford to pay a higher amount than landlords would normally ask for
>>79 your parents would willingly pay $1000 or above a month? And I think its highly unlikely that you could bargin the rent. That just isn't done (unless you're dealing with a landlord who isn't Japanese perhaps). Besides most of the problem is you just being foreign not actually your money
>>80 Yes they would be willing to pay that much And I don't see how being foreign could stop me from getting an apartment. Is there no discrimination laws in Japan?
>>82 Nope there aren't. If a landlord or realestate agency doesn't want to rent to you there is very little you can do about it.
You must have rich parents. Why would you bother getting a job at all? Oh and the usual system in Japan is that you're going to have to pay anywhere from 3-6 months worth of rent in advance with only a small chance you'd see 1-2 months of it back when you leave.
>>83 bout the same in Tokyo. You find stuff for around $500 or $600 but by American standards they aren't liveable (space wise). Im sure in NY you're not paying $1000 for like 20 meters squared with no toilet or bath are you?
>>85 I live in a 20,000 SQ foot house (Don't know that figure in Meters) in a suburban area of Kansas City (not that any of you have ever heard of it) But in the good part of New York, a basic apartment is over a million dollars
>>90 yeah if you want to buy it. And Japanese standards of basic and American are sort of different. What's 1mil. in Ny is probably like 3-4mil. in Tokyo
>>90 I have heard of it. But you're probably right. The middle seems boring so we don't go there. Chicago was interesting. And Northern and West states had pretty scenery. No reason to go to middle states
Its been a while since I've seen that so I don't remeber it too well but. Then you're probably looking at at least a couple grand a month (i'd go as high as four). plus the 6 grand to get in.
I mean considering that there are apartments in Tokyo that rent for 1mil a month, you're parents must be really nice if you expect to live in anything resembling America-size (unless you're living out in the boonies of Japan...)
>>98 I'm 6'3 so as far as I can tell, a basic apartment in Japan would be too small for me. I need an apartment, I don't know, that is atleast 2,000 SQ feet
Hi koji! How is your day? Mine is full of suprises! I had been having a tooth ache so I went to dentist and had my wisdom tooth pulled out! What a surprise!! I didn't expect this at all! With this one, I had three pulled out in total!! Wow! How unfortunate!! anyway, that's my day. how is yours?
>>99 considering that that's about 186m^2 that is probably going be around $5000 a month (of course would differ from area to area) plus whatever deposits/gratituity fees you have to pay to move in.
It is getting cooler out there and koji sometimes gets suddenly remorseful because he may have said things that made his feelings hurt. koji is nice and kind.
>>106 I don't think you get to choose where you work I'd be looking to live somewhere near Akihabara (not a nerd, but I like to own the latest tech) I'm not sure how the Japanese train system works but a place near one that could get me to Akihabara would be very usefull. Near Shibuya would also be helpfull but I bet those are the really expensive apartments
I love koji! the biggest fun of his! because he is a nice person! Those who hate and speak ill of him should be jelosre of him bedause of his popularity.
>>109 the couple i was basing my figures off of were in and around the shibuya area. Akihabara isn't going to make the price come down too much though.
As long as you're not in far west Tokyo (or not in Tokyo) then akihabara is going to be easy for you to ge to.
>>113 It would be nice to be somewhere inbetween Shibuya and Akihabara. I don't plan to be celebate while I am in Japan, so a location near Shibuya is essential =D
Once upon a time, there was a good person called koji. he is always kind to anyone who talks to him. It's because he had helped his friends out when they were in bad situations.
But no hosts aren't technically male-whores. They usually just sit in their clubs with clients chatting them up so the women will spend ridiculous amounts of money and buy them presents. Of course sometimes things do get sexual.
>>145 I've been lead to believe many times that Bishoujo meant Pretty Girl.. Not underage girl. I could be wrong. But no, I do not want to sleep with Underage girls
>>147 It's a tradeoff, I'm rich but my father and mother are hardly ever home >>144 Oh..why would old women want girls to talk to them? And give them presents?
>>152 Hosts are men who chatt up women to get them to buy expensive drinks and get presents.
Hostesses are the women who sit around and chat up men. Older and men with more money go to expensive hostess clubs. Younger men and men with less money to what they call cabaret-clubs. but they are the same.
>>153 Not really, I'm very casual >>151 I've seen pictures with Bishonen and Bishoujo used for older Men and Women with very long hair, muscles (for the men) and big boobs for the girls, that were labled (by Japanese people as Bishonen and Bishoujo respectively. So they were wrong?
>>150 Are there Japanese uni's for people who can't read Kanji? >>155 Oh..I know what host refers to now. So I'd be using them to buy me stuff. In other words, they would be my master and I their slave.. that's not appealing. Unless the girl is hot. >>158 Is that a good or bad thing?
but even teacher job is even worse. shitty job actually. and I dont know anyone who can spend 1000$ per day, who wants to work as teacher lol. there is some mistake with you
>>163 Now that I know that Bishoujo is a little girl I wouldn't be up for sex with one. But if a normal girl over the age of 16 wanted to hit me with a rubber band..sure.. why not >>162 Great Teacher Onizuka is my inspiration. I want to be.. Great...Teacher... ENGLISH~! I'm kidding, however, I need an excuse to come to Japan My dad isn't going to pay for me to take a vacation, he is still sore over World War II =P
>>166 Mmm, 48? 49? somewhere in there. And yes, he is still not a fan of Japan and Pearl Harbour is the reason. Yes I know It's retarded but his Dad fought in WWII and while he didn't die he brought back a mild hatred of all things Japanese. >>167 He's a land developer
>>171 It depends where you go really. In non-urban places it doesn't matter what brand you wear. In Urban cities it's the standard Armani, Gucci, etc It's really less about the name, and more about how much it costs to buy
>>172 I'm extremely white, so I can't really speak for most people in urban areas (not to sound racist) from what I pick up on MTV, brands such as Sean John (P.Diddy's clothing line) and Fubu are popular. (Fubu especially)
>>177 I'm 20, but because of credits that didn't transfer I just graduated last year. So 16 to me is like..girls I had class with and talked to every day not that long ago >>178 Meh, Bush has killed our foreign affairs and foreign views on the US.
>>176 I think that is mostly due to President Bush. His personality is good, but his international policy is terrible. ah, I am going to eat dinner.... good bye!
>>189 It depends on the offense. Possesion of child pornography will only get you probation, or at the worst, a small amount of jail time. Anything involving a real child will get you killed in America if you live in the wrong place. On the first part, I mean if they have no prior offenses (in the US a prison sentence goes up as you rack up felonies on your record)
the difference between ordinary people and young couple is that after some years young couple will become ordinary people who hate everything new and young.
>>193 Hah, it's the same in the US. Young people can get away with doing just about anything to each other in public but if a middle aged couple tried they'd disgust everyone
>>197 It's a shame =/ though I don't have much time either Most of my gaming time is on emulators on my PSP >>198 I've played it, it was good. I have a softspot for super smash brothers melee and Soul Calibur when it comes to fighting games though
Is it illegal in Japan to download roms/emulators? And do alot of people do it? >>199 I LOVE Katamari Damacy. I have the OST XD excited for Katamari Damacy for the PSP
>>202 Aah. I've got about the entire Famicom, Super Famicom, Nintendo 64, and Genesis library on my Xbox's hard-drive with the emulators to play them Wondering if there were people in Japan with the same. >>203 Playing Super Famicom games on the PSP is great. I bought a 1 gig mem stick for it, so I can switch from playing Super Famicom to a Tenchu ISO whenever I please.
>>210 You are only allowed to own a ROM if you own the actual game which means any roms you download, unless you own that -exact- game cartridge, could get you jailed (but I don't think anyone has been jailed yet) The huge thing in the US right now is piracy of movies over Bittorrent. They are suing like crazy
>>213 he knows what you mean. But don't worry. Everyone knows your fart smells like vanilla, because only yukorin's fart is thought to smell of it. It's not your fault.
>>216 If you download software or movies that are Japanese, then yes I can't see why you wouldn't get sued. If you mean by US companies for downloading US stuff, then no
>>222 Protecting yourself is the best way not to get sued I download 99% of stuff I get from IRC which is so obscure that noone would think to sue anyone from it
million of people downloading movies from internet and nothing happens! tons of stupid otakus downloading their anime's from WINNY and nothing happens!
>>220 Yes, of course, but only Yokorin's does! Hers is conprised of really very aromatic ingredients like roses and bananas and some milk. There's no wonder that her fart pervades through air and conveys good scent!
what do I do. If I sense that movie wiiwiwll be great and it have release I watch it in movie theatre. If it average unknown movie I download it. same for many old movies. also it's only way to discover hidden gems that no one knows about.
Is anyone here who loves Mao Kobayashi? She looks exotic and beautiful, IMO. She appears on the TV show every Saturday morning. Her voice sounds good to me, sometimes trenbling.
>>231 I have an idea that Yukorin is cute but not so smart, while Mao is beautiful and has a brain. But I vote for Yukorin, because I think lots of males don't ask for knowledgeable girls.
>>237 Don't take it personally, but my opinion is that knowledge has got nothing to do with cuteness. that is, if a girl wants to get successful in the show biz today, it's more important how cute she is. Popularity depends mainly on how she looks, not how wise she is.
>>241 Yeah I've seen it. I'm more action oriented when it comes to anime though Speed Grapher,Hellsing,Gundam, you know what I mean. Even though I am an anime fan, the Otakuness of Densha scared me Compared to him, my love of anime is nothing.
>>236 I wonder who played Rupin's voice in English. His voice is so unique in Japanese. By the way, I think voice actors/actresses on Robotech did a great job. Their voices really matched the anime.
>>241 Normally I watch anime in Japanese with subtitles, but for Lupin I made an exception Haven't seen robotech in years, so I can't say I remember the voices all that well
>>244 I see. I don't deny Mao is charming, though. What divided me and you is, well, i don't know what i should say, though, something like you like her face but i like Yukorin's face.
Fart can make the world peaceful. It can make people laugh. It can break the ice. If people can smell one's fart after another, the situation will get easier.
americans watch anime in japanese with english subtitles. it's well known fact. just like on every film festival they watch movies in original language, with subtitles
>>252 I couldn't have explained fart better myself. It has the power. Well done. If it smells of rotten fish, though, any situations would get worsened...
>>253 O_o We dub anime into English and watch it in English It's a rare few that bother with subtitling and Japanese (that is, once something has been dubbed, before it's dubbed everyone watches it subbed)
>>245 Do you think Gundam Seed is good to watch? Many people in Japan are complaining about it because of its crap story. I also don't like it. But it has inexplicably lead to the another series of Gudam Seed Destiny.
>>257 I thought it was a complete ripoff of 0079 except it had a much more terrible story Noone in the US has seen 0079 or Zeta so there are alot of Seed/Seed Destiny lovers
>>259 I'm told it's the Japanese equivalent of Star Trek in the US people are just as crazy about it. I'm not insanely obsessed but I still do think it had a good story. I would never cover my room in action figures though...
[Q]Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?
[A]There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet. __________
So I think download roms are illegal unless you have dumped them from your own cartridge.
>>254 How about fart that doesn't smell of anything? People say fart with a big sound doesn't smell so bad, and from my experience, that theory applies to the fact.
>>270 Like I said, I am an insomniac. I've had to fill many sleepless night hours with entertainment. And anime and Japanese drama is a very rich source of it. I'm not a nerd by any means. If you asked my friends what anime is, none of them would have a clue. Same with computers none of them would know how to use one (more than just for Instant Messaging)
>>272 Guess you're sensitive to criticism or you don't want be regarded as a nerd. But why? everyone in the thread is geeks or nerd or anything. We share the same idea that Otakus can enjoy themselves.
>>275 Now you know how Americans feel about Disney cartoons >>274 I just don't want to paint the wrong picture of me. I'm not a short, ghostly white, fat American who reads Chobits mangas and comments on how sexy Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop is =P
yes, japanese anime is extremely popular. I chatter with anime fan and I bet he knows more about anime then every otaku! He even downloaded fanart by japanese otakus. holy crap, when I heared it, I was like whoa what wrong with that dude
>>279 Have a suggestion of another topic? And please don't say farts or yukorins farts. -_- >>277 Any time I've been to a city like New York, or Las Vegas, or the like, the "Hipsters" have been wearing suits unbuttoned over striped button down shirts Shoes do not really matter, as long as they match. Hair is usually short and semi-spiky.
how do you call in american people who are obsessed with fashion? who knows everything about latest trends and spend a lot of money on it? I once saw a programm about an ugly and stupid chick who spend her money on luxury shoes, while she was from middle class. it's kinda patethic when middle class people pretending to be from high class.
>>281 No, I'm just a regular American guy. I enjoy sports and sporting events and high amounts of liquor >>283 I agree, and Densha Otoko explained the internet the way I believe it to be. A place where you are anonymous and you can air your grievances, or chat without the fear of repression
>>295 I would enjoy living in Japan. Where I am now is extremely boring Rap music has taken over completely ;_; Though I suppose it has in Japan aswell
i dont think it's bad if you really understand fashion and really have a fashion sense. it's neet creativity for it. but if you dont have anything and just stupid buy luxury goods, it's what someone calls "fashion victim" soo much money spend, so little effect (yes, you wear gucci, but you're still tasteless moron)
>>297 Many Americans living here in Japan are considered to behave badly. They are surely arrogant. I think not all of them, of course. But how do you feel about the situation like this?
>>299 The word in America for the first thing is Metrosexual A Metrosexual is a man who has a high sense of fashion (has nothing to do with sexual orientation) and who shows his feminine side alot more often than normal people In response, they have alot more sex.. XD
>>301 The reason that Americans that live in Japan behave badly is because it's our rich and our celebrities who live their mainly people like Paris Hilton and snobby rich people who move to Japan just to say they did, give the rest of us a bad name.
Do you love baseball, English? As regard to JBL, or the japanese baseball league, Hangshing Tigers won this season. And oddly enough, some riot acts broke out and some idiots dived into the Dohtonbori river. In retrospect, 5000 thousand people did it when their Tigers won 2 years ago, which ended up with one person dead.
and most people becomes metrosexual not because they need sex, i think. it;s because they love themself too much(nothing wrong with it). soo much that they do not need anyone but themselfs. lol.
>>310 I've played baseball since I was 5 years old. I consider myself good enough to be on a major league team (small market major league team like the Kansas City Royals or the Toronto Blue Jays) I enjoy playing football more however, more exciting. >>311 Yeah, they love themselves, but not enough to be satisfied with masterbating.
>>314 You really love it? Then do you know the world league or something like that is going to take place in March next year? I hope Matui and Ichiro will join Japan and beat America.
>>315 I am American, I've been here from, oh, about 12:00 PM to it is now 7:45AM. I graduated Highschool last year, and have yet to select a college. So no, I do not have school.
>>316 Yeah, I own season ticket to my local major league team (The Kansas City Royals sadly ;_;) And I doubt Americans will play in a world league unless they get payed extra for it
>>319 Well, there isn't much else to do in the middle of the night I watched a few DVD's in a small window while I typed but more or less, this is all I have done for the past 8 hours
>>318 I heard that MBL wanted to open the league to earn big money. It was reported here that most of the money would flow into MLB so other nations like Japan or SK or others said it was unfair.
>>323 I can't choose between schools. Stanford is a possibility I guess but Yale or Harvard sound more interesting. And none of the three sound all that exciting. I'd be more interested in going overseas to school I suppose Tokyo University would be a possibility, or a university in England. There are so many choices so it's difficult to choose.
>>328 There are good people on MMO's, just some of them go crazy and try to stay in character 24/7 even when posting in game related forums. >>327 There isn't. But I got a 30 on the ACT (which is an American college entry test) which is almost guaranteed acceptance into any school in the US
>>329 You can choose to not believe me if you wish. However I have very little reason to lie intercontinentally from 12am to 8am And I was being sarcastic when I said I had a choice of Yale or Harvard =P You have to be a complete loser with the highest marks in every subject to get into those schools. I haven't even looked at stanford. I am going for an exciting school, not a preppy one. I could care less about acedemics.
>>335 When I stop quoting post numbers, you'll know I am talking to myself. >>333 I am terrible at math as are most Americans. I excel in History and English however
I think I can speak English better than the average Japanese, so of course I would speak English to any foreigners in Japan if they talk to me. But if they are speaking some language which I have no clue about, then there is not much I can do to help them out.
All of you with your knowledge of English probably got into/will get into very good schools won't you? >>343 I really haven't decided yet. I could go somewhere as far away as Tokyo or somewhere as close as Chicago. I'm taking my time, this is a very important decision to make.
I think that many of you see thing in black and white. whats wrong if neet post on 2ch and it makes him more happy? it's nothing wrong, because it's better to be happy then depressed. if you're happy you have motivation to find a job.
To English, I don't think you know Pakkun, or Patrick whatever, but he came to Japan after graduating from Harvard, before he became a comedian in Japan. He is sort of popular now. So he hosts a TV program. Aren't you interested in being a talent in Japan?
>>348 I've seen him on US TV. Really odd looking fellow? I'd be interested, but living a sea away I'd have no idea how to even begin to think about Japanese Showbusiness
>>350 Since none of you talk in 1337 (the language where you replace letter for numbers which is popular with nerds on the American Internet) your grammar and spelling is actually better than what I am used to. You could all, in written conversation, pass as natural born English speakers.
I think it's common for non-native speaker to write words 100% correct, because they are often look at dictionary, or to reduce lameness of text in general, they tends to write at least words 100% correct
>>349 Is he famous in the US as well? Very amazing. We don't see him odd looking, though. He's cool.
If you put your mind to it, I believe you can make it here in Japan. Patrick taught English and became a famous talent. So if you don't like teaching some Ennglish, you have a good oppotunity to be successful, though you need to learn Japanese.
>>355 I'm used to people using terrible, terrible English. Using such words as "Woot" and "Pwn" (in place of the word own) and just generally making no effort to ensure that what they say is understandable in the least.
Arguably, though, 1337 is only used by those who are either severely out of the loop and think they're still in the 1980s, 13 year olds who think it's cool, and those who emulate the former two, often in jest.
>>365 I've seen him on a few programs speaking English He could have been reading from cue cards though Don't have to know English to read aloud Would have to know it to understand what you are saying however ^^
last.fm is a great, great service. it's great how internet grows! in 90's internet hardly was something really cool, but today - with all blogs, rss feeds, p2p - internet is essential
>>371 They are behind the Boston Redsox in their division They are also a few games out in the wildcard race I am doubting that they will even make it to the playoffs
>>373 I know what you mean. Samma chan is very talented, isn't he?
Well, yes, I sort of agree with you. I forgot his name but a guy who shouted "GETS" were forced out of the showbiz in Japan. And a lot many without the ability to amuse people will be let go. No doubt about it, matigainai.
you can download bloc party mp3 here for free and legal http://www.blocparty.net/mp3.html they are not from latest CD, so I dont know about that songs, because I only listened to 2005 CD
Is L'arc en'ciel considered along the same lines with boybands from America such as The Backstreet Boys and N'sync? I've receantly picked up on their music, but I am afraid that what I am listening to is intended to make girls go nuts
>>390 In Japan, BSB is considered to be a pop idol group. Some girls like them. On the contrary, though, some boys became hot when it comes to L'arc en'ciel. They love to sing their songs when in a Karaoke room. I'm not so interested in them, so I can't figure out why they become so hot.
>>394 I don't like them asmuch as I like The Pillows, but yes I find some of their songs to be good. Such as Link, Lost Heaven, and I even like Ready Steady Go even though I don't know why
>>414 Gay and Homosexual mean about the same thing In America however, if you tell someone "Stop being gay" it just means "Stop being a moron" more or less Homosexual can only mean one thing however. >>413 Sorry I asked =P
>>423 I think it is a good series, but the movies have ruined it. Harry Potter book 1 (The British version) was the book that got me to read. Before it I wasn't a very big fan of reading and now I have read thousands of novels. Now it (atleast in America) is "Nerdy" to like Harry Potter
>>433 You are lucky to get an Autumn. We don't have one here, it goes directly from deadly heat to frigid cold in the span of a month >>432 I think it was more of a statement, I'm just not sure who it was directed at
Recently, I wathced part of Tonight Show with Jay Leno on a MSNvideo site. Is he popular in the US? On the program, there were ordinary american people answering some questions, and they couldn't answer who Rumsfeld or McCain is. How much are average american people interested in politics?By the way, the program was very amusing to me and I hope I could watch all of it.
>>434 English, are you still here?? I'm that guy from New York that was here yesterday, but had to pass out 'cause it was so late. Did you stay up all night?
>>435 He is the king of late night comedy. He interviews celebrities mostly, but sometimes he will do a skit like the one you saw. Most Americans aren't concerned with politics anytime other than elections and some Americans don't even care then. The inner workings of the government and our political system are lost on most. All they see is the President and little else.
>>435 Jay Leno is popular, but he is losing popularity because young people generally watch Late Night with Conan O'brien. I can tell you that the average American person is pretty clueless about politics.
>>428 The movies runied the books? o.O I was under the impression the movies were pretty close to the books. If we happily ignore a few continuity errors here and there in the movies.
Also... "British version"? There's a difference between the version in USA and UK? o.O;; Please tell me the differences are only in font/size and spacing and not the actual text contents...
>>444 That would probably be a good idea. However, I am going downtown to club tonight so it will be much more than 14 hours before I sleep probably more like 24
What are you having for breakfast? I woke up feeling hungry so I made myself two hotdogs, a bagel with cream cheese, and some portwine cheese.I'll probably skip lunch anyway, I have classes in a few hours.
Does anyone know about new Japanese tv drama that is coming out in October? Is there any particular drama that people are anticipating? I need something to replace Densha Otoko.
>>454 Aah, I wouldn't know anything about that. I'd ask about the anime's that are coming out but I got flamed the last time I brought up anime So I shall refrain =P
>>437 >>438 Thank you. So News channels such as CNN aren't very popular? In Japan, you can watch CNN as CNNj for relatively low charge. I like Larry King, Anderson Cooper, and Paula Zahn.
>>456 They are popular when there is breaking news such as a hurricane, or the events of 9/11 The news channels are the only channels with the capability to cover stuff live without delay so they get high ratings when there is a national disaster
>>456 I watch CNN, but my family is not really that interested. Most college students are really passionate about politics. The most debated and heated issue is Israel,it seems that my fellow students HATE Israel. Anti-Israel rallies were very popular here. It's gotten a little quieter this year, because of the Gaza pullout probably.
>>458 It's more of a racial issue here Israeli's are white for one, and they pose no threat to the United States for another. So naturally we support them fully. >>459 That's a long list =D what is it of?
>>473 Yeah probably. I wouldn't even know where to begin trying to get Japanese software to run. It would be helpfull if there was an English 2ch browser out there
All forms of Intelligent life seem to have ceased living The thread has become a barren desert of stupidity The only hope left for humanity is migration into space
Welcome to 2ch. In this thread you can see me naked and eat my tasty shit. Which choise would you prefer? I just finished shit and my underpants are full of it, maybe I can upload the picure of this and let you see my shit underpants. I hope you like this idea.
Hehe. I can read Romaji, but not many people type in that =P 2ch is a good recruiting ground for cults So many trolls to recruit, so little time it must be a feast for them
I think this is a good time to say goodbye for now I had ought to do something productive like going for a jog or going to the arcade. Goodbye to any forms of Intelligent life that still peruse this thread at such a late hour.
My nipples are so hardened, big, and long enough to use it instead of my tiny penus. In fact, whenever I have sex with a prostitute I use my nipples and they like it. My nipples forever!
do you know that ALAIN DELON is depressed now? and he wants to die! he is alone in his mansion. he have everything, but he want to die. because life is gray for him
But first, you have to see me naked and lick my nipples. Are you a girl? If not, just get the fuck out of my sight and go fuck your girl friend, imflatable woman. www
>>519 you are lame idiot. go die somewhere. k-tan is smart girl who is respectable. unlike lame troll like you. are you still living? how sad for this world.
Thanks for all the compliments. In fact, I am a masochist and the more you complain about me the more pleasure I get. I feel very exhilarated right now. I bet I should masterbate to satisfy my sexual desire! This is what is good about being a pervert!
Yes! I am a pervert. But I am an intelligent pervert. I speak Japanese, English, Chiese and Shanghainese!
Oh, I forgot to mention,,, if you want to have some homosexual experience with me, I think I can satisfy you! I am not homosexual but I can try this for you!

>>557 How many of his works have you read? I read the complete works of his and I can say that he was generally a funny man. His image of being abnormal is a misconception I should say.
>>559 I read almost everything. my favourite is setting sun. it's beautiful. but I read it from distance. normal people who are peeking it the world of crazy man.
>>560 I'm also an ardent admirer of Mr Mishima and I've read his complete works as well. He couldn't save Japan but he saved me. Hats off to Mishima sensei.
>>569 it's mean not to symphatize with author. I stayed pretty aliented to dazai book. they are beautiful, but. too lazy to write lol! so do you read contemporary fiction?
>>574 That's a shrewd observation. Mishima sensei hated Mr Dazai but he saw a reflection of himself in Mr Dazai at the same time I suppose. That's what he feared and his military training and body building were some sort of physical attempts at driving off the haunting ghost of Dazai Osamu.
>>568 no I am not homo, but gayness in "confession of the mask" dont bother me. and it's not really homosexual book, because all truly gay books are strange.
it's so funny when a person wants to be serious. usually it's IT nerds, math idiots and great philosophers, writers. I understand two last categories, but I never udnerstand anyone else!
what if there is great philosopher inside math idiot? actually, much philosophy is based on math. for instance, you would not understand philosophy of Wittgenstein without clear understanding of mathematics.

>>516 They'll live, not as if they're missing out on anything interesting. I'm not particularly special. My boyfriend is damned cute though. I'd pick him over Gackt any day :-3 The pretty, shy, kind and cute guys are awesome. He's so very 萌え in the best possible way. I can't imagine anyone more wonderful to be with.
>>519 Sorry to dissapoint you but I'm not blond and blue-eyed, so you might as well start thinking of someone else. How about Yurikon? She seems awfully popular around here. Avril seems to be the latest idol to chat about though. Take your pick, there are thousands of celebrities you can think of.
I noticed my duffle bag, and the fact that it was full perplexed me. After all, her things were strewn about the room, what little she had. So what did I do? I opened it. The contents? Trash. Food wrappers. Almost-empty pudding cups. Fruit flies. And damn, a smell that could kill a cow. Zipping that bag back up, the curiosity was too great for me and Statik, so we opened the other bag, thinking that we would find her pictures in there, since we are curious who the pics that she claims to be shane actually are. Well, we found something much, much worse, something that made my gorge rise, quite literally. There were two 2-liter soda bottles in the bag, both of them FULL of urine.
Wow, I'm gone for one day and already I've got parodies. I feel like some sort of celebrity like britney spears or christina aguilera except I don't have a vagina ;_;
It's seems the trolls have guessed my random word I'd better change it, so here it goes. I used something anyone could have thought of last time, this time, you trolls will have to work for it
>>629 Eh.. I don't have a very good opinion of it.. I have the first four manga volumes, because i found them to be amusing. But then I saw a few anime episodes on German TV from where they were old and had children of their own... It wasn't funny at all any more.. Made me sad. Also, it seemed repetitive in a very bad way. Get enemy --> train to get stronger --> beat enemy --> get even stronger enemy --> train to get stronger... etc So i decided to not read more..
how come this thread ppl doesnt answer to other ppl's question? you guys seem to be not able to make a comversation, like... making small group and reject new ppl. its not good attitude.
>>631 Which question are you talking about? the DB post was answered and i do not know where the offsite logs of this thread is, so i cannot answer that one. So please, next time state what question what you're talking about. Also, what groups? Heh... Maybe I cannot notice any groups since I'm more used to thread chats in registered forums, there you see newbies at once and unfortunately a lot of people automatically look down on them for being new there. But here, you can't really know who's who nor who's new. So group formations should be very rare here, since boards like these are a topic oriented forum and not member oriented.
>>631 Though the title of this thread is "CHAT in English", the thread is actually more like a message board than an actual chat room such as Yahoo chat. Thus, it is possible that it takes time for a question to get answered. The number of people who are here varies very much according to what time or day of the week it is. Of course you can use the thread like a chat room anytime, but I also want you to know that there are many japanese people who are not good at making English conversation. They are learning English and sometimes take long time to answer questions in English. I hope you will consider these things.
