33 :

because your own world is based on reality. but then you "decide" to live in your own world. but it's still based on reality. so, if you are living in your own world you are always outdated, because your own world is based on past. but if you live now you can always supply your inner world with current reality. something like that
34 :
名無しさん@英語勉強中 :2005/08/04(木) 04:32:47

Hello, I am a lazy college student living in the dormitories over the summer session before school begins in the fall. I am currently browsing 2ch and listening to the Card Captor Sakura OSTs because I have no life, Later tonight, I will watch DVDs of Kare Kano. To live a life such as mine in the United States is to be somewhat lonely for long stretches of time, yet to have the freedom to learn and take up any hobbies you wish. Anyway, it's very hot here and I'm about to go downstairs and smoke a cigarette. I will refresh this thread later. By the way, I'd like to share with you all a catchphrase from my favorite English-language BBS. ★ ITT 【In This Thread】 ☆ USAGE ITT I am speaking English to you Hello, what’s going on ITT Everybody ITT is a stupid NEET

>>40 You means "逃げちゃ駄目だ 逃げちゃ駄目だ" in japanese?
42 :
名無しさん@英語勉強中 :2005/08/04(木) 09:21:10
>>41 Yes, that's it. When the series was licensed and brought to the US for distribution by ADV Films,
they translated Shinji's lines as "I mustn't run away". They took a lot of liberties with the translations
and there were many, many inconsistencies. For example, the phrase "気持ち悪い" was translated a
dozen different ways and it ruined the overall experience.
This is why I prefer to watch all anime that I have in Japanese, listening to the actual dialogue in its
original language while looking at subtitles for words I don't yet know. I don't "read" the translations.
If you're Japanese, do you watch English-language programs and movies and try to translate in your head?

128 :
=X ◆pO6dphC4fw :2005/08/05(金) 01:30:01
that's cool. i like rock music, so i guess they're well-suited for me! ;)
>>127 I love classical music intensely. And I may have tried ATH-W1000 at an electric
appliance store, but I must have cast it out of my budget plan.
Speaking of headphones, one audio maniac once gave me a speech that
"Music is not something you listen to by your ears, you must listen to it
through your whole body." or something along those lines.
He made a very grave point. And I don't deny him by any means.
But headphones provide a world shut off of outer noises. They work fine
especially late at night.
I think listening to music through headphones is definately an option.
130 :
Honda Perfect :2005/08/05(金) 01:47:13
Yeah, I agree that music is not something to listen... It's something you experience (feel with your body). But at the same time, I really love to listen a good rock'n roll, really loud through my headphones. Man, I miss the days in ***, where I could paly....
132 :
=X ◆pO6dphC4fw :2005/08/05(金) 02:18:11
there's no better way to experience music with your body than going to a concert! have you been to any good concerts in Japan?
133 :
Honda Perfect :2005/08/05(金) 02:26:12
That's the problem in Japan... I am used to going to club or live house (is this Japanish?)... so paying shit load of money to see bad acts is just... Don't get me wrong... ones I saw... bands were awsome (like Radiohead...), but the price and conditions were just.... say... rip off? BTW What kind of music do you like, X=? I know UP likes classical stuff, which I like but I don't know well...
134 :
=X ◆pO6dphC4fw :2005/08/05(金) 02:36:33
yeah i heard tickets for shows are pretty expensive in japan. (and i think club or live house is fine.. although instead of calling a concert a "live", we just call it a "show") i like rock music mostly.. i've seen Radiohead, Incubus, Jimmy Eat World in concert. as for Japanese bands, i like Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Hawaiian6, Hi-Standard... loud music is good for getting away from it all.
>>132 I went to Onmyoza's live concert the other day.
But the sound quality was not good. It's probably due to the acoustic environment.
Or rather the equipment they used was not good enough I suspect.
They are playing too loud and the speakers were frequently cracking.
But the audiense around me seemed to be very much enjoying themselves.
I think it's the atmosphere of the loud music they are after. Not the craftsmanship
of musical performance.
Maybe someday I'll learn to appreciate the overly loud performances of live concerts.
136 :
Honda Perfect :2005/08/05(金) 02:50:36
>>134 >Incubus, Jimmy Eat World
Good stuff.
Did you know that Apple started iTunes Store in Japan yesterday?
I don't really give a rat's ** abut Japanese music, but I am really happy
that now I can get access to some of good really loud, ear-bleeding,
rock music... Can you recommend any (I'm into Brit-pop
alternative stuff)?
PS. it seems like you know more about "Japanese Rock"....
137 :
=X ◆pO6dphC4fw :2005/08/05(金) 02:54:05
>>136 maybe you'd like Muse, The Killers, My Chemical Romance, A Perfect Circle, Tool...
although I think only Muse is british from that list.
i heard the number of songs downloaded to mobile phones (chaku-uta) is comparable to iTunes, so i guess Apple will start selling more in Japan now?
>>136 If you are looking for ear-bleeders, how about EMPEROR from Norway?
Personally, I don't like their sound but you might find them agreeable.
139 :
=X ◆pO6dphC4fw :2005/08/05(金) 03:04:58
>>138 UP, do you know the Japanese guitarist 押尾コータロー?
it's not classical music, but i have a feeling you'd like his music.
it's very soothing, and he's a very good guitarist.
140 :
Honda Perfect :2005/08/05(金) 03:11:11
Oops, I missed.... I meant that it seems like you know about "Japanese rocks" than I do...
About Apple in Japan... we have to see how it goes...
you know... business in Japan... we are really conservative
(I know it's really a wrong term to describe)
... some companies (like S*NY) are refusing to sell through Apple...
But I will check those bands you named... now I can try with iTunes;-)
>>136 I didn't know that you are into heavy metal stuff...
About sound quality thing, I don't know if we are just after
loud music... (just give me time to think and translate....)
141 :
=X ◆pO6dphC4fw :2005/08/05(金) 03:17:39
>>140 no no, you were alright the first time. "japanese rock" is just fine!
>>139 Never heard of him. I just Googled his name and found some sample music streaming files.
I listened to one of them which is said to be used in a Japanese TV commercial.
But I'm afraid to say that there was nothing in particular that plays my heartstrings.
Perhaps it's because I don't like guitar music in general.
But I do like Ritchie Blackmore of the present who is playing in a project Blackmore's Night
with his fiancee Candice Night. They are playing traditional tunes and original songs
and Ritchie's guitar playing is close to heaven.
They are really brilliant and you should check them out.

Katakana is for Japanese. In that sense it isn't awkward at all. You could
say that English letters are awkward for writing Japanese words in the same
way.
Your whole manner of writing makes it look like you think English is a superior

it's golden shower. it's awesome when girl do it while i am masturbating furiously! sometimes i drink urine, but not much! usually i lay on floor and a girl put her vagine near my mounth!
>>355 You are right. No one can be too careful when they are expressing their
thoughts in a borrowed tongue.
The worst thing you can expect in speaking in a foreign language is to make
the wrong impressions that you are unaware of making.
Well, I was just adopting your opinion concerning the 'a' in the sentence above
is prefered to be pronounced with the strong form.
And I didn't intent to say that English is a superior language. I was just saying
that katakana notation is awkward.

it's so called electroclash. new york guys (larry tee and dj hell) started it as festival. on festival there were bands: adult. chick on speed miss kittin and more. that festival caused some kind of sensation and music writers label such music as electroclash. it's revival of 80's NEW-WAVE feelings(watch liquid sky if you want to 'understand') with electro music(from 80's) it was trendiest music of 2002 now electroclash is dead. if you want to listen go and listen to ADULT - Resuscitation awesome cd

funny texxt about electroclash(it's joke of course but actually it's sums what electroclash about) Buy, borrow or steal some old albums from Kraftwerk, Visage, New Order, Human League and Gary Numan. Some knowledge of the early 80s Italodisco and Giorgio Moroder doesn't hurt either. # Buy, borrow or steal a cheap sampler/inexpensive keyboard and nick everything you can from the artists mentioned above. Add some one-octave basslines and disco beats. # Buy, borrow or steal a vocoder to get some fashionable robot vocals in. Besides, said device comes helpful if you can't sing one bit (though remember, this didn't stop New Order's Bernard Sumner to have a go at some crooning... neither Madonna nor your current favourite chart superstar). Watch the 1982 cult film Liquid Sky repeatedly until you know it by heart. Then buy a skinny tie, a can of hairspray and some hair dye, plus some fluorescent make-up to go. Now, try to look as much as possible like the characters in Liquid Sky. Now the hardest part: you have to try to write some lyrics for your simple two-note tracks. To make the task easier, here's a short checklist of handy buzzwords you might pick up from: cocaine, glamour, glitz, jetset, sex, lipstick, sunglasses, champagne, night life, disco, 1982, space invaders, Pac-Man, trash, romantic, Euro, electronique, lifestyle, robots, computer, sleaze, auto, plaza, dancer, fashion, style, human, cars, magazine, TV, seduction, silver screen, plastic, passion, android, leatherette, suicide, porno, telephone, neon, futuristic, robots, robots and robots. hehe

Is it true that if you slice off someone's head you gained their strength, or was that just in the movie The Highlander? I just cut off my pet rooster's head, and there were no bolts of mystic energy. Just a lot of blood. I'm thinking I didn't do it right or something.

I've always been impressed with a girl Who could sing for her supper and get breakfast as well That's the way I am, heaven help me He said, "We don't like peace camapigners 'round here" As he nailed another one to the wall And that's what gets me in trouble, heaven help me Goodbye and good luck to all the rubbish that you've spoken Goodbye and good luck to all the promises you've broken Your life has lost its dignity, its beauty and its passion You're an accident waiting to happen There you are standing at the bar And you're giving me grief about the DDR And that chip on your choulder gets bigger as you get older One of these night you're gonna get caught, It'll give you a pregnant pause for thought You're a dedicated swallower of fascism Time up and time out For all the liberties you've taken Time up and time out for all the friends that you've foresaken If you choose to waste away like death is back in fashion You're an accident waiting to happen And my sins are so unoriginal I have all the self-loathing of a wolf in sheep's clothing In this carnival of carnivores, Heaven help me
