　I saw a different world through TV screen
where only well-off people can live .
I watched a TV program that featured extraordinary life of 21 year-old
collage students . She lives in a luxury mansion , of course , rent by her
parents and gets a monthly financial support excluding rent .
Apart from the money support .
She can spend 1 million yen ,my cost of living of 10-month , a month as allowance .
　

Something happend in my mind after I watched the programm.
Knowing that 21year-old woman , just one year younger than me ,leads
a completely different life and has different world , I found myself at a loss for
words . I began to ask too stupid a question to be worth answering
and then , the disire for money born out of anywhere .
I want to be as rich and enjoy a life where I don't care about money




I have no idea whethere she is right or not . but the fact that
she just circulates money to the society sounds good with most people
saving up money in fear of something .

It is the last day of my holiday . When I think about it ,
the level of dipresiion goes up , may be reaches the limit at 11PM .

Day 4: How and Why I Came To Be An Unemployed Loser
10/7/05
I woke up at ll:30am. Its another cloudy day today as of now so
I’m going to talk about how and why I became an unemployed loser.
I had been working at the post office pretty much full time, hired
as a part time employee. In my free time I would basically draw,
go surfing, or do something with my friends. Once the weather turned
sour, going to the beach and surfing was pretty much out of the
picture as a daily activity. Another thing that happened was that
my friends also had jobs or were still in school, which meant we
could rarely get together at the same time. When we did, it was
often a choice between video games or seeing a movie. Most of the
time I would come home tired and just play computer games then go
to sleep. It just wasn’t enough for me, in fact I was totally sick
of it, I wanted to do something drastic, but not too drastic. I had
never been to California or anywhere out west and always wanted to
see what it was like out there.

I decided to take a road-trip and
see if I’d be able to live out in California. I tried getting my
friends to come along but I wanted to stay for at least a month and
no one could get that much in vacation time. I realized if I wanted
this to happen I would have to do it by myself. So after thorough
planning and quitting my job, I ended up spending about $1,300 and
basically lived in my car on the west coast and across the country
for a good 7 weeks. Had I stayed true to my original plan I wouldn’t
have spent nearly as much. The only problem with the whole trip was
the fact that I just happened to arrive during the 3rd rainiest
winter on record in California. Other than that, it was an awesome
and somewhat surreal experience and I’m glad I did it. Ever since
then, I have been an unemployed loser.

11時半に起きた。今日もまた曇りなので、今からオレが無職ダメとなった
経過と理由とを語ろうと思う。オレは、パートタイマーではあったが、
郵便局でフルタイムの恵まれた職についていた。オフの時間には、基本的には
絵を描いたり、サーフィンに出かけたり、ツレと何かをやって過ごしていた。
人生の雲行きが怪しくなったので、毎日絵を書くことはヤメにして、毎日
浜へ行き毎日波乗りをして過ごしている。あと、ツレも就職したヤツらもいるし
学校に残っているやつもいるから、一度に集まることは難しくなったね。
以前には、しょっちゅう集まってはいっしょにビデオゲームをしたり映画を
見たもんだよ。ほとんどの日には、オレは疲れて家に帰り、ちょこっと
コンピューターゲームをして、そして寝る。でも、これではオレには物足りないし、
実際こんな毎日にはうんざりしているから、オレは何かデッカイことやりたいと
思っているが、デカ過ぎるのは良くないな。オレはカリフォルニアに行ったことも
ないし、西部以外のどこにも行ったことがないので、外の世界がどんななのかを
見てみたいといつも思っている。

授業は一人一人アメリカ人先生に名前を呼ばれ、前に出てマンツーマンで話をするっていう形式。
先生には授業前に生徒の名前をローマ字に直したプリントを渡してた。

授業が始まると片言の日本語で挨拶をする先生に女子連中はキャーキャー言っていたけど
それを結構厳しい口調で注意するような真面目な先生だったので、みんな真剣に授業に臨んでた。
授業は順調に進み、結構人気のあった女子の「新保（しんぽ）さん」の番になった。
先生はそれまでやってきたように大きな声で彼女の名前を呼んだ。

「ジャアツギノヒトネ。ンーーアーー・・・ちんぽ！ちんぽサン！」
生徒は一瞬凍りついた。教室にいた全員が瞬時に「笑ってはいけない！」と思った。
でも、たぶん「シンポ」と言っているんだろうけど、どう聞いても日本語の「ちんぽ」だったし
「それまで片言だったのに、なぜよりによって「ちんぽ」の発音だけがこんなにもネイティブなのか」とか
「なぜか「ちんぽ」に敬称を付けている」とか考えだすとみんな耐えられなくなった。
結局新保さん以外の全員が爆笑。新保さんは顔を真っ赤にしてうつむいていた。

その様子を見ていたアメリカ人先生は状況が飲み込ていないようなのだが、
