As one of our valued customers you may have some questions regarding the recent accident in an elevator in Tokyo.
Our condolences go to the family involved in this tragic accident, and at the present time Schindler Elevator KK is giving full support to the authorities and their investigation of the root cause.
The elevator in question was supplied and installed in 1998 by Schindler. It was maintained by Schindler until March 2005, after which it has been maintained by two different companies.
Until further details from the investigation are made public, it is impossible for us to make comments on the accident circumstances, however at this time (on June 6th, 2006) we would like to stress that we are convinced that there is no reason to attribute the accident to either the design or the installation of the elevator.
Schindler Elevator KK is a member of the Japanese Elevator Association and your installation has been designed according to the standards set by the industry. Designs of elevators go through strenuous checks that are regulated by national code and standards that ensure the highest levels of safety.
Long term safety for the operation of your installation is ensured through maintenance by Schindler qualified technicians who work in the best interests of your safety by using the best demonstrated industry standards that include regular inspections and safety checks.
We would like to tell you that we have put and will put our best efforts to handle your concerns and questions.
