>>20 Yo Nick, how could you laugh at Emily for her expression "私は池袋に行きたい"? You'd better know the fact that it's actually an idiomatic expression in Japanese. I guess you shoulda spoken much more to the Japanese locals like Emily instead of being just worried about making mistakes, if you ever want to get better at speaking Japanese.
>>30 Simple. She says she's fluent in Japanese, so I brought up a vivid example of her using the simplest phrases possible. Obviously, this is contradictory - if she didn't pretend to be fluent, there'd be nothing to point out. Asking a train station employee how to get to one destination from another isn't difficult, but it shows the best ability she has is to exclaim "I want to go to Ikebukuro".
It's not a big deal, just calling her on her bullshit.
.>>31 So, what do you think is the most fluent expression to ask the same thing? In my opinion, as a native, "池袋まで行きたいんですが" would be it. Anyway, I guess her simple asking did work, or didn't it?
>>32 It didn't, because as I remember posting, I mentioned the employee had a dumbfounded look on his face. Then I asked what we wanted to know with actual detail. If it worked, then yeah, no reason to bring it up, but it didn't.
It's fine if you think it's a sufficient way of asking a question, but that's your opinion. I don't really know what point you're getting at bringing it up to me.
>>34 Haha yeah, when I was roaming around Tokyo by myself I got around perfectly fine. I'm not criticizing her Japanese when I speak none, that's not the case. But someone brought up her fluency and I know for a fact it's completely not. Others have dissected that issue down showing how she so isn't.
And yes, she says in her older YouTube video "I speak fluent Japanese" and that line is in the description too. Sorry if I seem obsessive, but it's painful to hear her speak masquerading she's "fluent" in a language. I guess it bugs me.
Let me guess. This "someone" is from 4chan/ED, right? They are bunch of liars. She's pretty fluent in Japanese. It probably doesn't matter to you though. You cleary are just jealous, and no matter what you will probably believe them. Keep badmouthing about Japan and Emily through the keyboard, nerd.
>>36 Uh what? I spent time with Emily in Japan, I know more about that issue than you ever could. You don't know shit. Also, why in the world would I be jealous of? At this point I don't think there is one person that wants to be her.
I'm not badmouthing Japan. Come back when you actually take the time to read things instead of posting your impotent nonsense to show off how tough you are on the internet. Seriously.
Quotation from your post. "I'm not criticizing her Japanese when I speak none" Contradict much? Make some sense please. How would you know she's not fulent in Japanese, when you can't speak the language? Also, I wasn't trying to sound tough at all. And you didn't tell me who this "someome" is, the one who claims she's not fluent.
>>39 That sentence means I'm *not* in a situation where I don't speak Japanese and criticize her. I gladly realized I speak enough Japanese well-enough to be complimented a few times while I was there. One girl even assumed I lived there. Either way, well done.
She isn't fluent. Anyone with a sense of reason and observation can tell she doesn't. You don't know her, you haven't been around her in Japan. You're nobody, and you certainly have no right saying *I'm* wrong (lol). I'm sure you're impressing her by defending her honor, hm? Feel good, kid.
I have no idea why you wanna assume Emily is not fluent in Japanese so badly, despite the fact that she's fluent. Maybe that has something to do with your insecurities? You are saying I'm nobody, yet you are still replying.
You still haven't answered name of "someone" or even a clue about it, Does he/she even exist? Or was it some anonymous post?
I don't assume it, I know it, because I've spent time with her in Japan. If you want elaboration, others have posted on my LJ their observations for you to read if you care. Why you're claiming she's fluent is a mystery to me, but it's pathological devotion or something. Pause the Emiry rabu and put your perception in neutral perspective.
I don't have insecurities about my Japanese at all, certainly not of her grasp of the language. However, you seem to magically know something is true just because you say it, so you tell me :P
The "nobody" comment is in reference to you posting your nonsense while being completely clueless about what you're talking about. It's a little laughable, and obviously anyone who jumps in to defend her and attack me the way you're doing is probably another ota fan.
I don't know what "someone" you're talking about. What are you referring to?...
By the way, I kinda laughed when i saw the word "nobody". "Nobody" is what Emily thinks about you. You are no body to her. Goodluck typing keys furiously 24/7 trying to convince people to hate Emily, while she enjoys her life.
Nick, I enjoyed your LJ at first, but it's not funny anymore. You see what's happening on this thread. 420chan will also start bashing you when they think you are not contributing enough. And if something happens to Emily and your LJ is still there, you will automatically be involved. Just let it go while you can.
>>56 By the way, I happened to scroll up and I just noticed your post. You can't scare me into deleting my LJ, because even if something happened to Emily (which I don't wish at all), having my sitethere is not a crime and has no connection. That's ridiculous. As for any of the *chan sites looking for me to bash, that's nonsense too. I went to 420chan in the beginning for some reason, I can't remember why, but at the time they were quite supportive and even when I checked just now there is no mention or concern of me to "raid" or whatever they do. Logically I'm not any sort of target or priority to raid if they're fixated on Emily which is evident they're still after. And even then, they brought up her biggest supporters and fans to harass. Why I would be included in that is bullshit you're trying to sell me.
I'm not an idiot, by the way, but I appreciate the laughable scare tactics. :P
>>100 代々木のアパートで同じベッドで寝たのにエミリーに何も しなかったんだろ。ゲイってことじゃん。 You said you shared a bed with Emily and nothing happened. How is that possible if you are not gay?
>>105 A few reasons. One, I don't find her attractive. Two, I have a girlfriend that I do find attractive. Three, she only sleeps with Japanese men. Four, she might have STDs. Not reasonable enough?
>>137 Well they haven't seen her up close. And no matter how attractive someone is, I wouldn't in a million years sleep with someone who I think has STDs.
>>139 Ironically enough, she asked and invited me to go with her so she wouldn't be alone. She also was excited just to visit me too... but we all know what happened a couple days after we got there.

>>410 I mean to say there are a lot of teenage girls that are fans of gay anime, manga, and visual music from Japan. As for women that actually fall in love with a gay person, I don't know those things personally, except t.A.T.u had a song about it 笑
>>415 白人は綺麗な人多い I think that there are a lot of people who want to associate with white chicks. でも、人気は無いと思う A Japanese man is terrible and conservative in mingling between the sexes. I think that most chooses the woman in Japan if said to choose either.
>>415 I suppose that most of japanese white women are averagely more beautiful than japanese women think at the bottoms of their hearts. But in fact, they are not popular to japanese guys at all because white womens are like art works in museums. you know that nobody see Venus de Milo in an art museum as a porno.
>>442 the others aren't so interesting or lulz-worthy unfortunately, whatever I had posted in the moment before is probably the best amusement you'll get. at this point it'd just be tedious to keep leaking them, and I'm not that sort of person, to be honest. it's too cheap and easy, anyway.
>>447 there is seriously nothing half as bad as what I've already provided, and even then I barely let myself expose her in the heat of the moment. posting anything else is redundant, boring, and fatal to the lulz had. celebrate what happened instead, 'cause it was a lot after all...
Could you please tell me, are Japanese people happy?
When America was first formed, we were poor but we were happy. The first Americans left England because they couldn't have the religion they loved. So, they felt strong and triumphant and free. The USA was founded on this concept of doing what your heart says to do, even if it is difficult, and for many years it made the country great. But, now things have changed and most Americans aren't like that anymore. They only want to go to parties, and watch television, and buy expensive clothing. We go to jobs every day that are not fulfilling just so we can live a lifestyle that also is not fulfilling. Most Americans aren't happy deep in their hearts.
I am wondering if it is like this in Japan, too? Are many Japanese people depressed inside? I have read that Japan has a high suicide rate. Why is life unbearable?
Let's look out for each other. From now on, we should make sure the people around us are happy. What do you think?
>>471 Sadly, her words are so immature, stereotypical, and pseudo-intellectual that I can't take it seriously. Positive message and whatever, but there's nothing deep or inspiring there. I care about people, I have empathy and am introspective of myself, but I can't assume everyone else isn't and depend on my message to spread positivity. Inspiring good things by doing good things is the better catharsis for expressing that sort of message typing what you think is wisdom.
Where is the line drawn for someone else's happiness and your own?
someone from 2ch wrote in my thread that emily didn't show up for her stickam thing yesterday and said I should post that here because I have nothing going on today. so I jumped to her thread and noticed the hysteria over this "scandal," and they're pissed (haha). some of the messages were: 'Go back Florida and don't come again.' and 'さよならエミリー.' word is she's too busy "モデルやってる" (modeling) as she apparently put it, but I would guess being a no-show isn't a good idea in japan when you have a printed contractual schedule with stickam to log on a certain hour of the day. way to go for being too smothered in the milk and honey of the shibuya scene, emiry... although if it was for one of stickam's notorious business links (porno) I'm sure it's not a big deal. those things could take a while for first-time girls. just saying.
also, what's up with the person who posted the conversation of emiry admitting to ecstasy use?

@ I don't think she's attractive. ← False. A She might have STDs. ← Just a rumor based on Emily's nonsense. B I have a girlfriend. ← Very suspicious as everybody knows. C She only sleeps with Japanese. ← no evidence except Nick's words.
Nick, why not join the virgin boys ally of 2ch with me?
>>495 Have you seen her up close, or just in her videos? I don't think she's attractive at all, certainly nothing more than average.
If you want to say I'm a liar and suspicious, that's fine, because it's not like you know anything in the first place. Lastly, I can't accept your invitation, I'm not a virgin in the first place.
hahahahahahah! Nick! JUST A TROLL!!wwwwwww >>497 and >>505 is different person. I'm >>497. Why you take everything so serious? Is it because it's happening on foreign boards which you are not usually on? I think something is confusing your sense of discrimination.
>>508 I guess because I'm not used to hints of trolling in Japanese like I am in English, but more than anything I'm just making a point out loud with that kind of person's help. I'm not afraid of responding to things serious or not, I have nothing to hide anyway.
I'm not a virgin, but unless I find someone emotionally satisfying beyond what I've felt before I would marry if they wanted. Still, all the girls I've dated never cared about marriage themselves. It's only convenient in a legal sense, otherwise I see it as a silly religious ceremony that has no meaning to me if I can commit to a person without it.
What is Kawasaki Syndrome? Is it kind of asthma? Anyway, I have a question... why so many american believe to drink soda would be good when you got a cold? I think to have clam chawder or something like thet would be better, so....
>>561 I never heard of soda for a cold, but drinks like Sprite are popular for settling nausea/upset stomach. I don't know if it helps or not, but the stereotype is chicken soup + Sprite if you're sick.
>>561 Kawasaki Syndrome is a somewhat rare illness that they still have no idea the cause of it. Luckily I was treated at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles by a specialist named Dr. Takahashi from Japan that was experimenting with treatment - I was put in a heavy aspirin-type therapy I think. I should ask my parents, but it was pretty serious.
I am very sad that Kansai has never had a lot of Dr. Pepper. However, Kansai DOES have Uji-cha, which is good in its own way. BTW, Americans only drink SPRITE when we have stomach problems, because the sprite replaces sugars and also relaxes the stomach with carbonation.
Finally, Americans believe that Chicken noodle soup, toast and hot tea cure everything.
Thanks!! I've got it. Hahaha, so your life was deeply related with Japanese from childhood... Anyway, you were luky for treated. and don'T worry too much about heavy aspirin-type therapy. I have a friend who had announced his life would be only 3 months. and He had heavy anticancer drug therapy when he was 3 years old. but he is still alive very healthy!!
yeah, drink sprite, that's what I mean!! (soda=sprite/sierra mist)
>>606 Well, because any neutral person can see there is something wrong with her and her parents. It isn't bashing, it's my observation, and it is what it is based on what I've seen, heard, and been witness to. I'm just making sense of things in front of me, and others have elaborated with their knowledge and opinion.
>>614 Oh, alright. It's no problem, I guess, but thanks for being forthright and not a yuji :P
As for "too far" whatever I'm doing now is as far as it's going to be... just here and my LJ responding to whatever. I really don't hold ill feelings like I did before, but of course I'd rather set things to an end instead of having it drag for a lifetime.
She isn't crazy, she's just naive and craves attention, good or bad. It's why she loves basking in people's compliments, even though she had to lie and fake being fluent in Japanese. It's why she talks "cute" in her videos, which isn't how she talks normally. It's also why she bookmarks her hateful Encyclopedia Dramatica page on her own computer because she craves others talking about her.
Her obsession with Japan is also unhealthy, and she has taken it too far the last one to two years. Because there were threads here on 2ch, she bragged how you all love and accepted her. Like I've said, when we left Stickam offices in Roppongi Hills, she completely changed for the worse - much more arrogant, no sense of being humble, and thinks "Japs love her." I can tolerate a person like this, but it was that plus issues with money and feeling used by her that ruined my trip.
I think she's just extremely immature and delusional. She thinks she's going to be Leah Dizon, or at least emulate her success, even though Leah is galaxies away in looks, portfolio, and experience with modeling. I've met chicks like this in West Hollywood, who come there to be stars because everyone at home tells them how great they are. They walk around with money, buying expensive clothes and food, and end up learning what the real world is like which eventually crushes their arrogance into drugs they end up snorting off the sidewalk. Emily has a rich father who apparently gives her all the money in the world in Japan to do nothing but pretend to work for Stickam, even though that would be illegal in the first place. She's spoiled, and having that coupled with everything else I've just explains makes very easy a naive teenage girl what she is.
But isn't it strange she's never pursued any of this in America? She never sought management or has a portfoilo, but only wants to go to Japan. It's a novelty to her, because it's: "I can make it big in Japan easy because I think I'm a beautiful, tall white girl." Anyone with brains would at least do the old-fashioned work of gaining experience and build a portfolio, but she thinks she can literally skip all that and via connections of Stickam be recruited to some sort of major label. Hideki (CEO) said in plain English he wanted to "make her dreams come true" which had me very unsettled, because Stickam is tied to pornography and that kind of talk is common in LA for producers to take advantage of stupid girls.
There isn't anything special or crazy about Emily, I've made sense of it myself, although putting all the pieces into words is difficult to completely convey. She's just a vastly ignorant, arrogant, and foolish teenage girl who doesn't know how the business or real world actually work. It's too bad, she was never like this... she changed after internet "fame" doing nothing but making YouTube videos pretending to be "fluent" in Japanese. I lost a friend because of this nonsense, and it is too bad, because I talked to her almost everyday for a long time. But, seeing as how she posted "glad you're gone" on my own LJ right after I left, I can see she just used me and didn't care. I've run into people like this in my life, the best lesson is to live and learn and look at the bright side.
>>660 Everything of my entire life?... Don't think it goes quite that far >_> She's gone now, which is actually for the better since coming from the circumstances. I certainly don't anymore of that arrogance, attention, and drama from her since she's changed. So with that said, I just meant I lost a friend I cared about.
>>668 Mm I don't know, I go to school, do homework, study. I moved here shortly before I went to Japan, so I haven't had much of a chance to find interesting things to do, sans a few plans later this year. I had a messy and somewhat unstable last year and a half, so I'm just happy to relax and play life more calmly. Watching the threads doesn't take much time, plus I think it'd be rude to ignore it.
Other than that, why waste time coming here to ask me questions? There's an old saying about throwing stones in a glass house.
I've met chicks like this in West Hollywood, who come there to be stars because everyone at home tells them how great they are. which one is real you, is the other posted by your alter ego or something?
And no, I don't have an alter ego, I don't really understand what you're asking about that.
If you care so much about my personal life, it's because I moved back and forth growing up, and have a habit of hanging out in Hollywood. I was born in North Hollywood, after all. Where exactly I'm living now is "not your businessだろ"...
Is it true that they have 6 inch rule in the US, or is it just a local one? What about the censoring the textbook? I can't tell if she is trying to lie to Japanese viewers or not.
>>699 I never heard of a six inch rule. I think she must go to a Catholic or some very restrictive school because I've never come across books that were censored. The only case I know is one county in the southern part of the United States, which is vehemently Christian and stupid, added a sticker disclaimer against Darwinian evolution.
I think she's telling the truth, but every part of the United States is very different. I know of things in California, but elsewhere they could do things completely differently. It's a strange country.
samtron5000 (1 hour ago) Show Hide Marked as spam OK I think I can do this, with a little practice, I can move on to the other exercise. I'm already feeling stronger!!! Thanks for the great work out videos KG!
I would imagine her video being gravely uninteresting to show off arrogance doesn't help. Plus, because she thinks she's the only girl that plays videogames she can entice the teenage boys to be fans.
She has no sense of being an American girl anymore, because she thinks traveling to a foreign country like Japan makes her Japanese. She wants to forget her identity and adopt a foreign one as a novelty, which I think is completely foolish. In America, she uses Japanese as a novelty. In Japan, she uses being an American as a novelty so she can separate herself to earn uniqueness and attention. Sadly, it's because she can't do this by means of talent or work, so it's no surprise she resorts to such predictably bland things as if she's the first white girl to be a delusional weeaboo. I hope she goes to Japan and stays there forever, less STDs in the gene pool over here.
仲直りしたいんだけど、もし彼女のライブに降臨したら、悪いキモチが エミリーの中に咲くのよ。I don't want to interrupt her in case she is looking to make threats or call names, which is not what I want。
>>815 When was the last time she said that to you? I can imagine she was very upset when you went home alone. You were upset too. But you aren't anymore, right? Maybe she isn't either.
>>816 The last time was August 8. She wasn't upset at all, she posted on my LJ "glad you're gone." She didn't want me there, even though she invited me in the first place. I think she may have lingering bad feelings because her dad didn't have my address to serve me with a lawsuit or anything. They both have threatened me before, but if they could talk to me or find me, they would look to threaten me again.
>>817 I'm not going to delete it until she apologizes to me.
pure pish. nowhere near the standard required of a Emily friends, just former oops sorry, I should wait and judge his performance against mid table first division pish before calling him pish. ok then. bye~~

Nick, you need to understand the video she said "I'm fluent in Japanese" was meant to be a joke. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R51K9_t_0v8 It's as obvious as MPU's videos.
She said 私の日本語はヘタだからね many times in her Stickam lives. I do think she is arrogant sometimes, but she is not pretending at least.
I think you're half-right, but my observation has always been (even before we fought) she wants everyone else to perceive she's fluent. Making video blogs in Japanese is her way of "showing off" to others her skills in the language, even though in my experience she fakes it with translators, dictionaries, and whatnot to write out before she records herself speaking. She's never made a YouTube video saying the truth, so to me, it's a sneaky way of implying fluency while playing it safe, so to speak. To summarize my point, she says and does many things to have others think she's fluent. Whether it's sarcasm, making video blogs in Japanese, speaking in an awkward accent more like she's imitating Japanese people instead, etc... I can see through that kind of thing.
Another point is that when I was with her in Japan, her speaking is COMPLETELY different off camera. Like I say in my LJ, she jumbles words, uses simple phrases, and has a different accent. The cutesy, moe-like act she puts on YouTube bugs me because it's not how normal people would talk, even if she was fluent.
My conclusion is she adopts Japanese speaking in a way to make her appear fluent than just be fluent. Of course she's going to get better as any normal person would do when they immerse themselves in a foreign culture the way she forces herself to do, but to me it's as if she's putting on this transparent act to fit in because she thinks her toxic weeabooing makes her more Japanese than other foreign video bloggers on YouTube or elsewhere. I wouldn't mind if she is what she is, but it's black-and-white compared to her personality and nuances off camera to what she broadcasts to be via the internet. The least she can do is not be a fake, is all I'm saying, but back to your original point: Sarcasm or not, she is obviously trying to imply she's fluent because that's been her habit ever since she discovered herself to be the only plain white girl who studies Japanese. She can't go by talent, looks, or other things which is why she repeats the same routine now even after being hacked and harassed. It's all she knows, and it gives her attention.
Whether you want to perceive it "as a joke" is up to you, but beyond that, it's another part of stringing together the illusion others see that she is somehow fluent in that language. I study many and am comfortable with many languages, but I don't say I'm fluent in anything unless I can write a paper on Gould's Theory of Punctuated Equilibrium by myself. That's just me, however...
>>926 Isn't it quite normal for a person to use dictionaries when she tries to make videos in a foreign language? If I were to make an English vlog or a speech, I would most certainly look up my words in the dictionary to make sure my grammar and accent are OK before I start recording. It's not because I am pretending but because..I don't know, courtesy?
Most of her videos are made of single video clips. No editing at all. I don't think I can speak that well in front of the camera for 5 minutes straight even in my own language. She has a talent.
>>931 It's not that hard when you're keeping up an act, which is essentially what her persona is. She already told me straight it was a 'stage persona.' The arrogant, everyone-is-watching-me breath of attitude and projection that she's fluent in Japanese is part of an act.
Well, if someone were to "vlog" seemingly randomly on camera, you wouldn't presume they rehearsed with online translators, dictionaries, and wrote the entire thing out, whilst mixing in simple phrases strung together with "ano...". No, "vlogging" that way is less of a blog and more of an act, in my opinion. If she wants to project an act, that's completely fine, but she's projecting herself rambling on from the top of her head hence the 'blog' vocabulary.
It isn't a big deal really, but it's just what I observe.
