Former Sheffield Wednesday managerial target Philippe Troussier is considering quitting his job as coach of the Japanese national team.
The Frenchman@` who claimed he had been offered the top job at Hillsborough@` prior to Danny Wilson's appointment@` is unhappy at criticism he's received from leading figure in the country's FA. Troussier's methods and selections have come under fire@` despite steering Japan to their second successive Olympics.
His current deal expires at the end of the month@` and speculation is mounting that his contract will not be renewed. The ex-South Africa coach said: "I have received many interesting offers@` one from a club who will play in next season's European Champions League. "They have offered me a two-year contract and I must consider it seriously because I still don't know what is happening in Japan." Whether@` Wednesday are one of the clubs looking to recruit Troussier as boss is unknown@` but if chairman Howard Culley does go down the route of looking for a foreign coach@` he could do a lot worst than the strict Frenchman.
When the Owls were seeking Ron Atkinson's replacement@` the club's former supremo Dave Richards did speak to him about the vacancy. However@` Troussier jumped the gun by telling the world's media at the World Cup finals in France@` that he would indeed for Wednesday's new boss. He wasn't and rest is history.
