The police in Lagos State said it had arrested 13 suspected cult members allegedly belonging to Supreme Eye Confraternity while celebrating the initiation of their new members.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Umar Manko, disclosed this at a news conference on Tuesday at the command headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos.
Mr. Manko said that the suspects were arrested on Saturday at about 3.30 a.m. at 50-50 Hotel, Igbokosun, Ajah area of Lagos, alleging that they had been perpetuating crimes in the state.
He said that some members of the group were found with T-shirts bearing the name of the cult, noting that members were drawn from Bariga and Ajah in Lagos and Ogun state for the ceremony.
The commissioner said that sound system, various handsets, assorted charms, two Volkswagen buses and one Infinity Jeep were recovered from them.
The police boss said the suspects would soon be arraigned in the court after investigation.
All the suspects were taken to the State CID, Panti, Yaba for further investigation after they were paraded before journalists.
