Young boy learns 'rape chant' from father
A controversial video has emerged of an English football fan teaching his three-year-old son a rape chant
directed at Manchester United player Robin Van Persie.
In the video, the father can be heard singing along with his son, who is wearing an Arsenal shirt.
"She said no Robin, she said no, oh Robin she said no," they sing.
"You’re a rapist, Robin, you’re a rapist".
Former Arsenal captain Van Persie was arrested in the Netherlands in 2005 after an allegation of rape was
made against him, which was later found to be false.
Van Persie completed a transfer to the Gunners’ arch-rivals Manchester United in August.
The controversial video hits English football at a time when it is already reeling from ongoing racism issues.
Referee Mark Clattenburg is under investigation over allegations that he racially abused Chelsea’s Jon Obi
Mikel during the English Premier League clash with Manchester United on October 28.
Former English captain John Terry was banned for four matches in September by the governing body FA for
racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand during a match last October.
High profile black players including Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand have refused to wear t-shirts
supporting the anti-racism Kick It Out campaign as a result of what they perceive to be a lenient ban
handed down to Terry.
