Today, August 22, 2002 Gakken Officially informed GGEU of their intention to close GEM by
the end of November 2002. GGEU holds Management & personnel department responsible
for running down the school to this conclusion.
When personnel announced they intended to appoint the current GEM director, GGEU in no
uncertain terms informed personnel that this was not an appropriate decision for practical and
logistical reasons. The personnel department head and sub head disagreed and went ahead and
appointed the current GEM director against advice from the union. They must now take
responsibility for their decisions along with GEM management for their complete failure in
managing GEM as a viable English school!
