めぼしい成果が出ていません。

This has developed into an interesting discussion, but to me it seemeda bit
narrow. When I started trying to think of some treatments that hadbeen
invalidated, my list was based on a wider casting of the net.
For example, the "Doman-Delacato" treatment for cerebral palsy hasbeen cast
into outer darkness by the research community for a long time.Ed Zigler has
written at length about the lack of evidence for its validity.
A special issue of the Journal of Clinical Child Psychology on
childpsychopharmacology a few years ago cast considerable doubt on the
efficacyof so-called antidepressant medications for treating depression in
pre-pubertalchildren, although they often were effective in treating ADHD.
In the field of applied behavioral analysis, reinforcing children forpaying
attention in class turned out not to generalize to academic
productivity.However, reinforcing academic performance did generalize to
measures ofattention.
Is this kind of wider discussion helpful to you regulars on the SSCPNet? I
am a new participant in this discussion.

efforts to "retrain" the injured parts of the brain. A modification of the
extremely intensive patterning program is currently used. The American
Academy of Pediatrics did not endorse the original program, at least partly
because of lack of published data. The Institutes for the Achievement of
Human Potential consider autism to be the result of a brain injury of
unknown origin for which the total program of neurologic organization is
recommended. The institutes now offer five treatment program ranging from a
home study program to an intensive treatment program.
In my opinion, parents would find more accessible and validated services by
seeking out physical and occupational therapists with backgrounds in
neurodevelopment and sensory integration.
