The Associated Press reports that Japan suspended beef exports on Tuesday after
three of 16 beef cattle at a farm in Miyazaki prefecture were found to have symptoms of
foot-and-mouth disease earlier this month. The ban will last at least three months,
the agriculture minister, Hirotaka Akamatsu, told The A.P.
In Manhattan, DeBragga & Spitler said on Wednesday that it was suspending the sale of
any Japanese beef until it was confirmed to be safe.
