LESSON ONE WASEDA JITSUGYO HIGH SCHOOL SECTION 1 PRESENTATION
I am a student at Waseda Jitsugyo High School. Our school was originally a commercial school, but now it has two courses, the commercial course and the general course. There are approximately 1,800 students. Some 600 are in the junior high and the rest are in the senior high. Our school was established in 1901 by some of the founders of Waseda University. Ever since, it has been operated under the management of Waseda University. Therefore, it is strongly influenced by Waseda's spirit of liberalism and independence. Our school spirit is well described in our precepts and school song. One of our school precepts says "Respect your fellow man, yourself, and the things around you." There is a phrase "Kyoka Shujitsu" in the first part of our school song. This is another principle of our school. It literally means "Leave appearances and attend to substance." The second part describes what the ideal of our students should be. It says we have a mission to promote unity among nations for world welfare.
