The newspaper editor told reporters he hired prominent lawyer Hafez Amin, a former president
of the State Security Court, to defend Gomi and his Jordanian translator. The second grenade,
which had been given to Holwa, was detonated by a bomb squad shortly after the airport incident.

Analysts close to the government said they did not believe the Japanese journalist would be
convicted because authorities were "aware this was an accident, and because of the prosecutor's
relationship with the defense attorney."
　　政府関係筋は日本の記者は有罪にならない、理由は、これは事故であるのと弁護士と検察官の関係から

State Security Court sources noted that defense lawyer Amin is effectively the former boss of Hijazi,
the military attorney general who charged Gomi and was questioning him. Amin was the presiding
judge of the State Security Court in the mid-1990s while Hijazi was prosecuting his first major security cases.

　　　９０年代半ばにヒジャジが最初の公安事件を担当したときの主裁判官でもあったという。
