Delhi Police team in J&K to look for Japanese student
New Delhi, October 31: Top Delhi Police officials today said missing 21-year-old Japanese student, Kota Shinozaki, could possibly be in Jammu and Kashmir and are hopeful of a breakthrough soon.
A Delhi Police team has been camping in Srinagar, having been sent there after certain clues suggested that Shinozaki had headed to the valley from the Capital. The police team has been provided an escort team by Jammu and Kashmir Police for their hunt in the Valley.
A top Delhi Police official said: “He (Shinozaki) had filled up some registration forms and completed some other formalities at the international airport which has given us a clue. A team was immediately sent to Srinagar. We have also sent four other teams to Agra, Varanasi, Jodhpur and Jaipur but the most important lead remains the Valley. A scientific investigation is being carried out based on the clues and we hope for a result in the next few days.”
Teams sent to places of Buddhist interest such as Bodh Gaya, Sarnath and Ranchi have met with no success and are on their way back, sources say.
