The prion agent is contained on white blood cells and milk is theoretically free of these cells.
However, 30% of dairy cows suffer from mastitis which results in the painful swelling of
the udder together with the discharge of pus from the teats.
Pus contains white blood cells and therefore the prion agent.

プリオン・エージェントは白血球に含まれる。
ミルクは理論的には白血球を含まない。
しかし、30%の酪農牛は乳腺炎を病み乳頭から膿を放出する。
膿は白血球を含むためプリオン・エージェントを含んでいる。
