Many consumers are angry and frustrated Not only are they unable to use their new toys, in many cases they are unable to find anyone who can tell them how to:
phone lines are busy, emails are ignored, and when they do make contact, they are told by the hardware manufacturer that it's a software problem,
the software supplier tells them it's a hardware problem, and nobody is willing to sit down and show them how the thing works.
So they take it back to the store and demand a refund.
When using an electronic gadget for the first time,
the average American consumer has a tolerance limit currently estimated at around 20 minutes.
If they haven't figured it out by then, they will return the product to the store.
Why does this problem occur?
Manuals tend to be complex and full of jargon, suggesting that they are written by specialists with no input from ordinary consumers.
