　倉庫入りしてしまいましたので、新たに立てました。
皆さんで戸田奈津子さんの名訳を讃えましょう。批判派は
他のスレで。
　まずは、『忘れられない人』（The Untamed Heart)から。
注意！　ネタバレあり（かも）

　主人公のキャロラインが、恋人のアダムの葬儀で友人と話している。
「彼は天使のようだったわ」に続く台詞。
"I never knew I could be like that."

奈津子さんの訳「生きててよかった」

　女性の気持ちを、生きいきと端的に表現した好訳です。
字幕翻訳の見本といってもいいですね。

戸棚津子の名訳は、サンキョーのＣＭの「スシ、富士山、全部好きです」だろ

？　意味がわからんぞ。なんで人の葬式で｢生きてて良かった｣が好訳なんだ？

＞３　「アダムのような素晴らしい人（sweet heart）に出会えて
よかった。そして、その人への愛を貫くことで、生きてて初めて
自分の意思を貫くことができた。その人は心臓が悪くて（untamed heart)
あの世へ行ってしまったけれども、私には生きてても縁がないと思っていた
あのような充実感、幸福感（be like that)を味わわせてくれた」
というのがI never knew I could be like that.の一文に現れてるわけ。
それで奈津子さんの訳が「生きててよかった」となったわけ。

戸田奈津子以外の翻訳家の訳って、なんか口調とかも妙にカタくて嫌いだな。
やっぱり「〜せにゃ」ってのは名訳だよ。

「ロード　オブ　ザ　リング」の字幕を見れば戸田擁護なんかできないはず
だが・・といいたくなってしまいます。
戸田さんにも良い字幕もあれば、悪い字幕もあるって事ですね。
個人的にはこなす本数を減らして、良い字幕率をUPして欲しいです。

奈津子っちの迷訳、はっきりいってもう勘弁です。
引退しましょう。

シェイクスピアなんか、坪内逍遙の頃から先行訳が山のようにあるじゃん。
オレでも「訳せる」っていうか、「オセロ」の名セリフぐらい暗誦できる。
そういうものを、例にだしたってしょうがない。
