American shortstop Jimmy Rollins appreciated Japan’s adherence to fundamentals.
But he remained skeptical of specific style issues that he insisted would not go over
well in the big leagues.

アメリカの遊撃手、ジミーロリンズは日本の基礎に忠実なところをたたえながらも
大リーグでは気に入らないと彼が主張する特定のスタイル問題について
懐疑的なままだった。

“They play with passion. And we play with passion, but they just
wear theirs on their sleeve. Their style is different. We would get
criticized for if we did them back home during the regular season,” Rollins said.
“For example, when they get the hits, they flip the bats.
I am fine with it, which is fine.
I actually like it. But in American baseball, you do that and you’d
get people throwing at you. You’d rub people the wrong way because
they’d think you were styling, showboating.”
