OANDA: Thank you for choosing OANDA. How may I help you?
A cliant: Can you please check why ticket ****** happened on my account?
OANDA: Just one moment please.
A cliant: Yes.
OANDA: In order for me to provide you with your account information, please answer me this question, "*****?"
A cliant: "******"
OANDA: Thank you, that is correct, what exactly happened with your ticket?
A cliant: I bought EUR/USD 66000 at 1.35877 and it suddenly closed by a margin call at 1.35855.
OANDA: I see what occured, you received a margin call
A cliant: Yes.
A cliant: Just before that transaction, I transfered funds from my USD account to AUD account.
OANDA: the Margin Used (i.e., the margin requirement of your open positions) divided by two must always be less than the Net Asset Value of your account. If this requirement is not met, then a margin call will occur warning
A cliant: I didn't see a warning this time...
OANDA: You should allow 5 minutes when you transfer funds, otherwise you get a margin call
A cliant: I see.
A cliant: But there was already enough funds not to occur margin call.
OANDA: You got the margin call within 1 minute after you placed the trade, meaning the funds did not appear in the right account.
OANDA: you needed to have waited a few more moments for the margin call not to have happened
A cliant: Can't you correct this margin call?
OANDA: Unfortunately we cannot correct this for you. I would suggest before placing your trade, check your margin available. If you believe you are close to a margin call, you can reduce the size of the trade to reduce the risk of a margin call.
OANDA: We have not heard from you in a few minutes, is there anything else we can assist you with today?
A cliant: I had already had long position 66000 before funds were transferred. I checked there were enough funds available on AUD account.
A cliant: I had no chance I can predict the margin call.
A cliant: Because it never met margin call requirement...
OANDA: Like I mentioned you could have reduced your positions to open up more funds.
A cliant: I think margin call happens when net asset value go under 50 percent of my balance. Is it correct?
OANDA: when the net asset reaches the margin call value you will receive a margin call, this is what you need to monitor
OANDA: when net asset becomes half of margin used, not balance, your margin call occurs
A cliant: I think my net asset never became half of margin used...
OANDA: net asset value=balance+unrealized PL
OANDA: you can view the margin call in your Activity tab
