【ワシントン１８日共同】米中央情報局（ＣＩＡ）が１９５０年代から６０年代にかけて、
日本の左派勢力を弱体化させ保守政権の安定化を図るため、当時の岸信介、池田勇人両政権下の
自民党有力者と、旧社会党右派を指すとみられる「左派穏健勢力」に秘密資金を提供、
旧民社党結党を促していたことが１８日、分かった。
同日刊行の国務省編さんの外交史料集に明記された。

同省の担当者は「日本政界への秘密工作を米政府として公式に認めたのは初めて」と共同通信に言明した。

米ソ冷戦が本格化した当時、日本を反共の「とりで」にしようと、自民党への支援に加え、
