カー読み現状報告（英文スレ18）

The statement that it is in the interest of the world as a whole either that
the status quo should be maintained, or that it should　be changed, would be
contrary to the facts.

The statement that it is in the interest of the world as a whole that the
conclusion eventually reached, whether maintenance or change, should be reached
by peaceful means, would command general assent, but seems a rather meaningless
platitude.

The utopian assumption that there is a world interest in peace which is identifiable
with the interest of each individual nation helped politicians and political writers
everywhere to evade the unpalatable fact of a fundamental divergence of interest
between nations desirous of maintaining the status quo and nations desirous of

でｹﾂﾏﾂﾞｲﾃおり。こりゃカー先生がこういった頭脳様相をすでにお持ちになっていたのか、
あるいは言いたいことがあり過ぎてすごい勢いで書いてしまったのか、そして（日本人）
読者のことなんかなんも考えてなかったのか、、、全部かもしれません。

で、今夜は解読諦めて寝まつ。

現状維持かそれとも変革かは、実に世界全体の関心事である、
との考えはどうも事実とは食い違っているようだ。

現状維持か、変革に関わらずどちらにするかについて平和的な手段を通して
合意することは世界全体の関心事である、との考え方は、
ちょっと見、誰しも賛成はするものの、
よく考えてみれば「それで何か？」っつーもんであまーし意味はない。

世界全体にとっての平和は各国の利益と同じことだ、とユートピアンが
仮定してくれたおかげで政治家はや政治評論家はかなり具合の悪い事実を
見てみるふりをすることが出来た。
その具合の悪い事実とはすなわち、
現状維持を望む国家と変革を望む国家との間に根本的な利害の不一致があると
言うことであった。

どうでしょう、こんなもんで。
