Subject: about the use of accesskey and link element
Dear Sirs.
We had an occasion to discuss the use of the accesskey attribute on a BBS named 2 channel. We had an idea and we would like to propose it to you. We gathered from our discussion that user agents should offer us a system of consistent shortcut keys to navigate. At present, site owners arbitrarily set the accesskey, for example, both Home page and Help page are assigned arbitrarily to the H key, so we users cannot get a universal operation system and cannot learn by our experience on the accesskey. We do not think the condition is desirable. We hope that you producers of user agent add to your product a function which interprets the link element and assigns it appropriate shortcut keys. The use of the link element is more common than the use of the accesskey attribute and it is much less arbitrary. So we think the link element is suitable for automatic allotment of shortcut keys. It is difficult for us to realise this idea, but it is possible for you. We sent the same e-mail to the following organisations and companies: iCab company, Microsoft Corporation, The Mozilla Organization, Netscape, The Omni Group, Opera Software and The World Wide Web Consortium. We hope you will consider our idea favourably.
Sincerely yours My Name My e-mail address
