deniska -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guys, I tried the latest beta with FW3.10 OE-A and it seems to work ok at least for a short duratin of time that I had to test it.. If you still have problems check following things: 1) Get the latest set of prx files from 3.10 fw dump using the psar dumper from C+D team. (press circle) 2) You may need to disable some fw plugins and they consume memory. MapThis needs lots of it for caching the map imagery 3) If you always get stuck on map loading - perhaps your memory stick is corrupted - try copying files from it to HD, format it and copy them back.. you may need to create a new map...
Here is another beta version for those who wants to try it... To install, you must ovewrite your current EBOOT.PBP with the new one from appropriate folder and copy the new graphics to system filder.
Features: The PSP-290 version has some optimizations which may prevent it from hanging in 3.10 FW.. Faster reverse geodata lookup function... Hopefully better rendering in GPS mode...
GPSlim version features most of the things rolled out for PSP-290 version: SAT INFO screen (although display is slightly different from PSP-290 due to difference in GPS feeds) Better trip stats logic - you can now jump in to map mode w/o loosing the trip stats. Map rotation in map mode Faster reverse geodata lookup alpha sort in map/attraction menues.. Note: NMEA recording is currently disabled, untill I workout a better logic and interface to support it..
Since GPS-mode rendering logic was changed in both versions you may need to adjust SPEEDFACTOR value in config.txt to allow smother scrolling...
Rambler ( http://nakarte.rambler.ru/ ) maps added (10 different maps of Russian cities) however without GPS support - if anyone has any ideas of how to match them up to the Google projection I'll try to implement them.
GeoData.DAT files can now be created automatically for new maps (checkbox in the bottom left) - this is US only. Please consider downloading the full usgs_tiger (550MB) from http://www.in7ane.com/psp/mirrors.html and placing the unzipped usgs_tiger folder into C:\GMDL
MapThis beta 0.48 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is yet another beta, since people still complain about the crashes... (psp-290 only)
I recompiled the png lib with some optimizations and disabled console messages.. Also implemented alpha sort in the map/poi menus... Note that the sort is case sensitive event though the display is always in caps. So you may still "push" certain items up/down by changing the letter case...
Anyway, please test and give feedback... You need to install it on top of ...047 version (on page 42)
In regards to shutdowns that people reported - after each shutdown there is a small chance that your MS got corrupted, so if you continue getting them even with new binary, this could be due to problems reading a corrupted map.. To remedy, consider formatting the MS and reinstalling the map...
This is still a beta, so things can happen ;-)
! For now, make sure that your maps are converted to gpsfs format.. ie all subfolders with map imagery should be compressed in 5 gpsfs* files.. Some people reported problems opening "unzipped" maps with new version... Attached Files MapThis_048_beta.rar (393.8 KB, 65 views)
(1)Added NY, DC, Chicago, Philly, Boston and Berlin subway system overlays as GPS compatible sources.
(2)USGS topographic, 1m ortho, and urban ortho, maps added as GPS compatible sources. (Note: min zoom of 2 is probably sufficient for topographic).
(3)UK topographic (New Popular Edition) added as a semi GPS compatible source (google tiles to lat/lon to UTM is one step too many it seems, if anyone has google tiles to UTM code I'd appreciate it).
(4)GeoData now automatically runs, if checked, if you click Pull Tiles under Advanced (also runs before the map done message). And no longer giver errors on the empty counties. taspankya those errors did not affect the geodata file.
(5)POIs and directions can now be loaded from Map This! files (icons too for POIs, ignored for directions). Directions now also have an option to have the path points have a different icon (handles splitting into files ok). AZImmortal nice suggestion, thanks.
Future: zsc, deselecting areas at variable levels rather than the 8x8 grid will take some work...
deniska, if you do get around to changing the county borders - tell me, and I'll have the program redownload the county border files -will need to have some sort of file version tracking mechanism built in.
AZImmortal, upcoming directions are in, check List Upcoming to activate.
ThaNerd, the changes were percentages in download and 2nd try download and a change to the preview html - those are in. Let me know if I missed anything.
zsc, thanks - Global Map Download it is.
DennyPSP, MapCruncher? could you post/link to the source image(s) - guess you can cut them up if the limit is on the individual image, if it is on the total map size - create two maps and then combine the tiles (you may have to sort out overlap by hand or I can try and write an app to combine maps).
The best way is to use PSAR Dumper and hit O (circle) when prompted.
Depending on your firmware, create a new folder.
Firmware 3.03OE (any variation) - Create GAME303 in your PSP directory, this is where you'll put mapViewer folder
Firmware 3.10OE (any variation) - Create GAME310 in your PSP directory, this is where you'll put mapViewer folder
From my experience, as long as you put the mapViewer folder in GAME303 (or GAME310) it doesnt matter what you set in Recovery Mode, which applies to the "GAME" folder.
Next, try with 2.71 prx files, put them in the mapViewer folder.
Also, did you replace the prx's in the flash0:\ with the original files? I hope you'd backup those files before messing them up.
First of all - resolution fix: the window now gets scroll bars on smaller resolutions/sizes while still scaling up, sorry about this guys.
rhygin, map24 seems to have changed and I can't see exactly how it works after a brief look at it, if you really want it to be supported again you probably want to look at this part:
But keep in mind that European companies have a funky interpretation of the law ( http://blog.oflaherty.dk/2007/01/20/...inked-to-them/ ) - so a method that takes something that is contained within a browser window would be fine, but using the session token to run a query would have to be a separate program by someone other than me.
So map24 is disabled for now.
Russian Topomaps added as a rough source (it will take time to get this to a useful state).
monkeyboy1982, Ordnance Survey (from their site) maps are not compatible with the google projection so would not have GPS support, also OS is known to be very militant about their data - and frankly I do not particularly want to host any code that would point at their servers.
deniska, haizad, I'll have a go at adding Local.Live as an alternative navigation page. A customized navigation page is a good idea - maybe a Google Maps mashup with everything stripped out or an openlayers.org map pointing at Google's servers (I'm not going to sign up for Google Maps API, but will have a go at messing about with openlayers.org javascript).
Thanks for the missing JPEG tiles fix - that works now. Also, another map that crashes (on load) , 2048x2048 so that may be the problem, if you have time: http://www.in7ane.com/psp/maps_vario...0Ryaza n).zip (730MB)
Nice work with the directions display!
DennyPSP, you need to specify points that link your source image files to lat/lon coordinates by lining up the source files on the left with the map on the right (see: http://research.microsoft.com/mapcru...#_Toc148418516 ) if it still doesn't work tell me an I'll have a go at creating a more step by step tutorial.
in7ane.com does go down occasionally - it's on DreamHost and they seem to be doing some maintenance.
What you see in the browser is not exactly the are that will be downloaded -click the preview buttons to see what you will get. This is due to partial tiles being displayed and tile caching within the page.
I think I've replied to everything, if not, could you please repost.
- increased lenghts for lat/lon entry fields in ADD POI form - corrected "Reset Trip Data" logic - added "record GPS data" [left] button and read from file logic for PSP-290 - made compatible with latest PSPSDK version. Attached Files MapThis0498_beta.rar (2.30 MB, 165 views)
This is a Map Software for the PSP and PSP GPS adapter .
This beta build features:
- basic localization support (read and write in your own language!!) - basic sound (currently just key beeps and "Speed warning" message if preset speed limit is exceeded - improvements in geo search logic, allowing more relaxed search
- Startup Splashscreen is not shown. - Map named "_Default" is always auto loaded at startup reguardless of config setting. - HOME button can be used to exit.
