Big Brother Junichi Inamoto
PAUL KAVANAGH

Replacing Robert Pires would be a daunting task for any player, making your first team debut in a Champions League
would also be asking a lot of any young player, however on Wednesday night Junichi Inamoto was asked to do both.
It was a close game, a nerve racking game for the gooners to have to sit through.
Memories of Lens and others are too vivid, and for a German team to be coming at us as Schalke did for so much of the game,
had us all on the edge of our seats. We won, three points and that is all that matters.
So often in past Arsenal games, Mr Wenger has substituted a creative player for a midfield worker at a time
when we are looking to protect what we have in the bank. Vivas and Grimandi have been used that way many times.
In this game it was Ina turn to take on that role.
A clearance from around our own box, good strong running, a shot on goal and a lot of "off the ball" covering was Junichi Inamoto's debut.
He had played his part in another Arsenal win. He has now taken his next step and
while many thought his first run out would be in a Worthington cup game it may be that we see more of him in the next few weeks.
Ina is sure to be on the bench next week in Greece and could also feature in the Premiership squads as we now have three midfield players playing at the back.
I would love to ask Ina how he felt as he walked out onto the pitch. Having played in a number of big games for his country
and knowing that he will feature in the next World Cup he his not new to big games, large crowds or close matches,
yet I wonder just how he felt as he steps up take his position, on his debut.
As your "Big Brother", Ina welcome to the First team, welcome to the Arsenal, and I for one look forward to watching
you do your thing in the red & white for the rest of this season and beyond.
