BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea striker Didier Drogba says he will miss World Cup 2010 after fractured elbow in Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast star Didier Drogba has admitted he is out of the World Cup after fracturing his right elbow in a friendly against Japan today, according to L'Equipe. The Chelsea striker received a knock from defender Tulio Tanaka's knee with the score at 1-0 after he had struck a deflected free kick. He was swiftly replaced by CSKA Moscow centre forward Seydou Doumbia on the 16 minute mark and left the pitch in visible pain clutching his arm. Drogba is now set to under-go a scan on the injury, but he is reported to have already stated he is out of the tournament. ttp://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2557/news/2010/06/04/1958639/breaking-news-chelsea-striker-didier-drogba-faces-world-cup
Didier Drogba's playing in the World Cup was uncertain after an Ivory Coast official said the striker broke his right arm on Friday.
Team spokesman Eric Kacou told The Associated Press that Drogba's fracture was confirmed by doctors after he was taken off 15 minutes into Ivory Coast's 2-0 win against Japan in a friendly.
Kacou said: “It is a fracture in his right arm. The doctor hasn't said yet whether he can play in the World Cup.”
