ZURICH, Sept 13 (Reuters) - World soccer's governing said on Friday it launched investigation into Ecuadorean soccer refree Byron Moreno following controversies at the World Cup and in his country.
"As a result of a number of controversies regarding refree Byron Moreno (Ecuador) in Japan, Italy and South America voer the past few months, FIFA has decided to launch an investigation into the affair,"FIFA said in a statement.
"The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has been entrusted with dealing with the matter."
Moreno was suspectred for 20 matches by Ecuadorean officials this week after his handling of a weekend first division match.
he caused uproar in Italy with his handling fo the natinal side's defeat by co-hosts South korea in June at the World Cup finals.
