Dragon Warrior VII (PSX; 2001)
Dragon Warrior I and Final Fantasy I were released at about the same time in America, so fans
were split between the two.
Final Fantasy II (FFIV) was released at the same time as Dragon Warrior III. The SNES has better
graphics and sound than the NES. It also has "active" combat which makes battles more dangerous.
These additions made Final Fantasy more appealing to the American market.
If Dragon Warrior V and VI were released for the SNES in North America, the Dragon Quest series would be
more popular. Final Fantasy would still be at an advantage, but it would not be as significant.
Dragon Warrior VII received a very small release in America, and it was for the PlayStation, rather than
the PlayStation 2. This made many people avoid it. Dragon Quest VIII might do better; we'll see.
