英語学習から遠ざかって丸１０年になるのですが、このたび会社から
半強制的に英語の資格取得を求められて右往左往しています。
埃をかぶった受験時代の参考書をひっくり返して勉強を再開したのですが
別冊の解答が行方不明で困っています。
以下の問題の解答に協力頂けましたら幸いです。
一応解いてみたのですが答えがないので、皆さんの意見をお願いします。
問１ 以下の文には文法・慣用上の誤りが最低１つ含まれています。
誤りを指摘し訂正してください。
1. It makes me furious that in the year of 1987 women are still being made feel
guilty if they give birth to a baby girl and the father wanted a boy.
答え・・・and ではなくbutにする。
2.We shall have finishhed the job untill the supervisor shall come back/
答え・・・前半のshallをwillにする。untillをbyにする。後半のshall comeをcomesにす
る。
3. The disease could have been impossible to cure, had it it not been this
antbiotic.
答え・・・could haveをcould not haveにする。後半をhad it not been forにする。
4. When did you build that your white large house?
後半の語順をyour large white houseに変える。
5. Wondering irresolutely what to do next, the o'clock struck twelve.
主節、従節で主語が異なっているので、前半をWhen Iwas wonderingに変える。
o'clockは基本的には副詞であって普通は名詞であるclockを使う。
6. You have come at an unfortunate time, however I cannot turn away you.
お手上げです。後半は正しいと思うのですが。
7. When he had come out of the cave, he felt dizzy under the bright dazzling
sun.
答え・・・前半、大過去にする必要なし。hadを取る。
8. To give a long period of trouble-free service, the machine should be checked
peridically.
お手上げです。思いつくのは、後半の副詞の位置をbeの後に置いたほうがいいような。
9. Don't apply the soldering iron to the lead connection anytime longer
than necessary.
お手上げです。
10. Left in the desert with nothing to eat and drink, the both fugitives could
not survive.
答え・・・後半のbothの使い方の間違い。both of the fugitivesにするか
both the fugitives にする。
