Hey!!! All you NEETs, nerds, YouTube link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis, Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers, Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters, Big-boobs fans, Weeaboo from around the world, learners of Japanese who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, cunning linguists, stupid fan girls of Johnny's Boys, Touhou pirates, and that electrical super-gay who suffers from mental disease - This is your thread! Let's hope Igirisu-jin and the Internet-addicted housewife will come back soon!
This is the place to have a blast!!!!! Let's continue to support recovery efforts in Japan!!!!!
>>9 Of courese! I often eat whale. I have only ate dolphin meat once. Well, they rather smell just meaty, I think. I hate a lot of things, but there are not any foods that I hate.
>>17 Although I didn't mind 忍法帳 very much, Ms. wiki says pepople being more than Lv10 can make a new thread.
The level is up by writing in the 2ch. When you write it once, the level, normaly, will be up by one level, but the next chance to be up will be after more than 23 hours If you have お試し2ちゃんねるビューア(a traial 2ch viewer?), which you have to pay, your level up every 3 minute.
I don't usually make a thread and am unconcerned with it. You seem to be able to know your level when you write "!ninja" to the name input column. That's why I often saw people who write "テスト."
Savoring my favorite lemon cake at my favorite cafe. I feel cute in my new favorite dress. No other way can be as good in dealing with my stress after a long day at school. The cake is good and the chai tea goes well with the cake. I'm happiest when chilling alone in a nice cafe like this.
I wasn't able to imagine whether Mrs. Haruko Kobokata had manufactured STAP cells really or she had fabricated them.
I presumed the probability that she imagined by mistake with insufficient verification that she had manufactured STAP cells or she fabricated them after I watched the press conference on April 9th Tuesday.
The confidence that she had verified the expression of STAP cells seemed to be shaken though I didn't know how she thought when I watched this press conference.
I suppose that the story that she had manufactured STAP cells more than 200 times was irresponsible remarks. She doesn't know how many times she manufactured them, supposing that she did so plural times, did she?
Ahhhh words can't describe this feeling. It's hard to understand how you really feel until you put it into words. I'm not sure how I'm feeling cause its too vague to capture. I'm being philosophical.
I am the most philosophical person in the world. I doubt if you are philosophical. I am certainly not good at English, but I can know the 超大統一理論 on the world peace, not physics. It only remains to express it in English. If I didn't publish it to the world, the world peace would be late.
I singed up for a language exchange thing at school. I hope I'll be matched up with an American student. Otherwise, it doesn't mean much to do this. I can make international friends in class and outside class, it's easier. I applied for this cuz I wanted to speak with American. By this I mean American American, not Japanized ones or those with yellow fever.
>>43 Thanks but I nicely reject your offer. I'm already a bit pessimistic. If I become philosophical and start thinking about the meaning of life and stuff, I wouldn't be able to handle my life. Lol
>>44 Well if you're trying to do a language exchange with an English speaker who is learning Japanese... It's pretty safe to assume they'll be kind of a weeaboo. I don't know what you're looking to get out of talking to an American in particular, though.
>>47 It's actually the language conversation partner I applied for. Srry I got them mixed up! The reason is simply to improve my english. I think there's not much to learn from other international students unless the person is at advanced level or somewhere near. Because the conversation partner program is for those who hope to improve their english skills like myself, not so many fluent english speakers apply for it. I assume most of them are ESL students, which means chances of meeting with fluent English speakers except for americans are pretty small.
I didn't really watch this show but this idol said that growth of rising population of elderly is really threatening the young generation Whenever we go to the hospital, there are elderly everywhere
Most young employees today are non-regular workers and they are paid in hourly wages
It happens almost all the time but when we get so sick, we go to see a doctor but we spend entire day waiting to get checked by a doc. The elderly do need to pay only 10%-20% so they are everywhere
For example, we go to see a doc and register around 8am We wait until at least 11am. Then there is a lunch break, we need to have a medicine prescribe by a doc and we wait again and takes another an hour or 2hrs
The regular workers, who are very busy, they also do not go see a doc so often either. Same with non-regular workers as well We pay 40% and price is not the issue here but the time and sometimes money we lose
The voice of elderly is way too strong and we, the young ones, really do not have much options. I am so disappointed with this Who are paying for their bills? Why don't the govt give young workers priority to check up with doc? Some regular workers, who are not busy, they like to stay thing this way because they still get paid
The increase of non-regular workers and multi-task young employees are really threatened by these mega elderly rising population and govt still doing nothing
Many young workers pass out in their middle ages actually, they work until very late and they don't even have a chance to see a doc but drink some medicine that they have
Many accuse young people for telling things like 老害(poison elderly) but I think we have got to do something with this
The Liquor and Tabacco Tax should be up more because they are the cause of some of the lifestyle-related desieases. I won't pay Tax for them. Dankai think they have made Japan and they are proud of that. However, I think, they also have made the declining birthrate. They won't recognize it.
im writing for the first time on this thred. hello english is so difficult. now,i can only these easy english sentence. sentences on this thred is a little difficult for me. i do effort to read your opinion.
The another serious issue here is nursing parents We do not have euthanasia and since elderly do not have to spend money to get checked by a doc, they live really long Eventhough, they have this serious dementia The family is so scared of causing fire, gone missing, etc Also there are things like truck drivers hit dementia elderly and get arrested and put into a prison
Unlike other country, once we lose our job, even if this person has high skill, there is no good working place for them When a family carry dementia elderly, no housewife to look after for him/her he/she lose their working place, money, and etc
>>59 Hello, You're welcom. I seldom understand the sentences in this thread/(^o^)\ Furthermore, I am not good at English, so my setences probably are not corret.
The dementia elderly are everywhere Once they are out of sight, they go walk to many places It is 24hrs care until they pass away
Many accidents occur in many time, many places
A dementia elderly walking down the highway crossing place where she shouldn't be passing and hit by a truck but still a driver is arrested and put into a prison
It is happening everywhere and these things are just going to increase
>>64 I don't think so Many elderly gone missing and I hear news saying that elderly passed out hit by cars or trucks Not like normal time, but very early in the morning or so
Those are mostly prevented because house-wives or their children are working so hard to take care of them
>>68 I have worked and seen many places by myself Talked with many people who were involved I was living with elderly as well, took care of them not totally but partly
Sometimes, discussion on these matters become more ideal, whether than realistic
I consider that rich people just hand over the elderly to the nursing home and they are not that quite involved
I am quite concerned that these things really do create a deep split between govt and the normal citizens since it is deeply reflected to people's living
>>70 From next year, the handicap level gone up for elderly who can enter the nursing homes. Instead, they are asked to take care of themselves in the houses
I do not think this is the good idea because nowadays, in the social work field, we all know that prevention is the most important more than getting worse than that
What the nursing home provide us is not only time but they are working on prevention. To eat, to walk, to communicate, and to socialize with others
The other thing is that admitting enthunesia for whom wish for that We do not have no good medicine yet for dementia and it really do get ugly We have to admit that there are some murder going on inside the family and it is nothing but a disaster
I know, this is very controversy issue but also I think it is very important for the some elderly's dignity. Once we decide to prolong his life, a doctor is sued and retrieved his own license, even if patient and family ask him to stop the machine. Mostly, it is cause by family who had not looking after their own parents, and they do not really helping family at all but sue a doctor for what he did
>>72 Every patients need to be diagnozed by a doctor and there are levels to enter the nursing home and this level is going to get strict
All the workers know how prevention of becoming worse is much important than patients becoming ill. When patients become ill, it is going to cost much money and time. Also they are likely to lose health and social life
>>74 My major was the social work but since it is low wage and I have other skills so I choose the different field to work but volunteered to some places
The fact is that we have to consider what we will do for those who are serious ill and not cutting a budget for the prevention It will be costly and also very high price for the young workers
When elderly are prevented from becoming seriously ill, they work hard, back in the farmland or do the housework as they were
In the rural areas, it is very common to see family who are living together in 3 generations. Grandparents, parents, and children Eventhough, they don't live together, their daughters are living nearby
They help each other. Most of wives are working as a part-time and when there is a call from the kindergarden, it's grandparents role to pick them up and make some food while their own children are working
This is really good role model and we really do not want to mess this thing up
Sometimes, I wish that I hadn't choose the social work for my field in college. It is so depressing I have always thought I should have chosen other major instead of that
I have gone to many places to see many things but it was just too much for me to handle. Instead, I had read books and try not to stay focus on those matter so much
I kept my silence for a decade but look what is happening today and it really made me feel sick again completely It is becoming worse each year especially children
I hate kansai so much. I do remember when I was in college, there was this guy from Osaka and he always spoke the retarded Osaka dialect and that was so disgusting....
I think all people in kansai area are all baka like Korean
I lived in Kansai for 8 years. When I moved to Kanto, I first think, in Tokyo station, all men talked as if they were like girls. I didn't become a girly man, but I forget Kansai ben now. I am now a girly man.
>>93 I'd never had kanto's oden but hope it is not that salty
>>94 I know. They almost sound like girls It must be because they've got no male version or female version dialect They all talk the same and there is no change
I'm not kind of a person who read for pleasure and I have no favorite novelists. I read only when I makes a resolution, like "I'll read a book a month." These resolutions were made when I felt need to read English more. (hence, English books.) I'm not originally a book lover so I don't understand why they queue up late at night.
I read a lot of books but his novel did not quite seem to fit me though I do have my favorite author but I always keep this person secret Only my ex-bf and my best friend knows about it I can't quite stop talking about him when I start to talk although he already passed away. I have been to see his monument and I had met his relative just by luck lol Gosh, that was such a heart-trampling experience I love every characters that he wrote
When I first read his book, I was like "OMG. These are books which I have been waiting for so long!" and read them over and over again Then I saw his pic and you know what! He was exacly my type! A person is so so so your type, it is kind of weird that you just cannot explain others that you actually liked that book Always keep them inside your heart like forever
He was like Susano-o or something to me hit me so hard back in college I felt my blood ran so fast through my vains thoroughly One of the best things I had in my life
You don't have to keep your favorite novelist secret in the first place. Nobody wants to know his/her name. Nobody is interested in you, aka middle-aged woman.
It kinda reminds me and my ex-bf All I ever remember is just beautiful memory Sorry for guys without or lack girlfriend, rest of your life but at least I had a life for sure. Nothing need to be compared but you know... it is so important I hope I`d never had good memories so it wouldn't really made scars I envy you guys for having nothing
Okay, imagine you are dead and you're in heaven here is a God asking you questions, God "what love did you learn?" you "ummm...I only masterbated everyday watching porn" God " ... I did not create that thing in a such way" you "sorry, but I am just so too creepy to have a gf" God " You got too many excuses"
gays love everything sophisticated but ironically every women tend to be more nature and barbaric, unlike some men who are under control
Even if men think that women are under control, who really knows how she feels about it. We all know, women are like a volcano Whether she is erupting most of the times or will going to erupt soon
dried earwax is proof of so-called "shin-mongoloid." they have flat faces, short-headed (絶壁), single-edged eyelid (一重) ewwww, I dont want them..... >>138 must resemble Mitsu'ura!
I have bad breath and I don' accept a response claimin, wash your teeth coz I know that doesn't solve the problem. Also, I have no problem with stomac, which could be a cause of bad breath. I know why my breath smells terrible, there's nothing I can do about it. I think I have to live this bad breath as long as I keep living.
>>139 you maybe misunderstand. Shin mongoloid is Yayoi type Japanese which have semi double-lined eyes Okubutae. >>144 But yes. People who have wet earwax are Japanese. Basically, because Japanese is type Ural related to Johmon.
My sociology teacher was nice. I'm glad I went to talk to him after class. He's totally different from that intimidating literature instructor. It was the right decision to drop the class right away. Just thinking about the guy makes me scared.
I do English conversation. I greet. I am a beginner bot to speak English with low precision. I was going to make a new thread for English beginners but I failed. Thus, I came here.
I exist only for beginners and learners who want to use English. I like light conversation like greeting, weather, and so on. If you greet me, I will respond to you. If you ask me a simple question, I will respond to you. If you want, I will ask simple questions such as "Where are you from?". In that case, please say to me "Gimme a question." Don't be shy. Let's build a win-win relationship. I don't guarantee the precision of my English, however.
Yeah! I read to that. I prefer bookes to magazines. The same can be said of BERSERK and FSS ! HunterHunter, BERSERK and FSS have kept me waiting for a long time.
I relly like everything about FSS. It's a favorite pastime to gaze the chronological table in the back of the books. It awakes my imagination. I'd like to read the story set in 7343 (the JOKER STAR CLUSTER) as soon as possible. Lusix go to Poland in 1945 and enter the Battle of Berlin. I want to read it.
>>173 FSS itself is full of imagination too! I really liked single digit volumes (vols. 1-9). after 10 vol. the story became extremely complicated, at least for me :s
yeah, i too wanna see how the fatima joins the battle of WWII :-)
I realize proper English is quick. again....sigh... kanji is thoughtful, but, not for quick thinking. Sadly Japanese can't be quick because of its frequency. But, you won't listen English of TOEIC or MOVIE.
I am so called 三日坊主, meaning tired of learning and stop studying within 3 days but I had studied both Chinese and Korean. The pronounciation of Chinese was so difficult for me and I just wanted to know how to order foods in Yamcha, so I quit really fast but I regret about it because I had trouble having whatever I like in Yamcha I had to point out to a waitress, dat dat dat...and it was so embarassing but I cannnot help my appetite, you know
dat dat dat... pointing to someone who is having food, you know That was not that polite and a waitress was screaming like "that?" or "this?" sometimes lifting dishes who sits next to us and I felt so terrible about it I was like, " I am so so so sorry"
Then there were Korean romantic dramas I liked so much, and I had read this blog saying that Japanese translation is not enough to understand the atmosphere so I had gone to take a course but I'd failed while learning grammers It was terribly difficult to learn
Thank you very much for getting interested in our company and taking the trouble to send your curriculum vitae to us. We regret to inform you that we can't advance you into the next round of the interviews. We are impressed with your experiences and expertise in the field, but we have had a promising pool and have had to make the hard decision. After really careful consideration, we reached the conclusion. Again, we appreciate your application and wish you the best luck with your job search.
The more 2-word phrasal verbs I learn, the more pleased I get as they enlighten me and enable me express my feelings or describe things more precisely.
Ew and same here. If my eyes meet with a tall cute guy's(short blonde hair and thick, brownish rimmed glasses preferred), I'd cum in a sec too. Oh the guy who sat next to me in the library today was kinda cute. I got to talk to him somehow but it didn't go well. Excuse me for my bad socializing skills.
I need to take advantage of what I have now. I have slacked off too much...Time flies and I found months passed already since I got off the boat. There's only a limited amount of time left. I'll try to make the best out of it and make up for the time I wasted.
I totally do not understand why Koreans in Japan got multiple names
They always say like, " you guys care so much. It is because there are racists" but would anyone really believe this person who has multiple names which are really different. One is totally Japanese and another one is Korean
Excuse me but when I was living abroad, I had never changed my name and eventhough, there was a racist, I had never thought of changing my name They even change their surname as well
There are this thing going on in Japan that some politicians are against "hate speech" but we really do not know whether they are really Japanese and I wish they reconsider about their name before this topic
Do you agree with ID system? There's a poll coming up on 27th to decide whether English board will adopt ID system or not. I'll vote against ID system because it makes jisakujien difficult. Withuout jisakujien, 2ch would be an empty place.
I think they have become avereage humen yet. I can tell the face type between Korean and Japanese. Especially, there are a lot of Korean type face in AV and TV and shop master of yakiniku, pachinko, etc. My English is bad, but I don't care.
My Korean friend became Japanese people. His parents oppose it, but He married and his name became her Japanese wife name. He like Japan. He don't insult Japan. However, his father didn't participate to his wedding.
When I wrote without thinking the Egnlsih grammar, I sometimes doesn't become don't. My English is too bad. Furthermore, コテハン記憶 is on.
When I was an elemantery school student, I was bullied from a Korean. He used 通名. I didn't know it. When I was an junior high scholl student, I became taller than him and strong. He went to the same school. Some day, my classmate taught me that he is Korean. The friend was a Korean I talked at >>214. Their families knew each other.
Lunch break almost end. I go to the next class room.
I mean, who cares if he/she is Korean anyways? I am Bushi decendent but I really don't mind at all We all have different history and we all respect them but it is just that I don't understand why they have like 2 names and it really does not quite feel right to me I get so angry when I hear swear words of racists I discriminate every racists
>>221 The descrimination still does exist in some parts of Japan , Kansai region, Kyushu, to name a few... It's deep rooted. People don't say in public they descriminate them though. That's why I asked.
Your ancestors were the top of the class system in Edo period, and you can get married with Burakumin, the former Etahinin. Maybe you live in Tokyo where city developments and population fluidity has been seen a lot, and the former Etahinin and the former Samurai could live in the same neighborhood.
You have reached the voice mail message of Yaruo at Itsuzenbuzyouzyou Corp. I'm in a meeting or away from my desk now, so please leave your message. I will call you back on my return. If your call is urgent, please contact Yaranaio at 03-8X71-0000. Thank you.
>>222 Is that so? I know some of my youth training was from Bushi-related ideas, which were so strict. For example, I was a girl but I wasn't allowed to cry in the public because my parent told me that it is tremendously humiliating thing to do
When I'd asked for something because everyone else does, my parent really hated that They said, "you want because you want it, not because everyone else has that" It was same with my decision as well. "You decide not because everyone says so but you decide because you want it that way"
The usage of chapsticks, words, and postures were very strict and when I had visited my friends house, I was so suprised too see that they weren't that strict. Later I noticed why
Writing words were so strict that dad drew these lines with a ruler to make me write words beatifully and erased every words he thought was not neat enough I had practiced every single day and that was such a torture when I was young Although, now everyone tells me my writing is neat so it wasn't that bad
I often visit JasmineTVChannel, but he has not made a video yet. He is probably very busy. I like seeing Youtubers speaking English. One of my favorite is Rachel & Jun because they also make English sub. It is very helpful.
>>229 It is not eccentric at all. It is just so traditional style I have read books about how Chiyo Uno and Aya Kouda was raised and they all had different styles but they were kind of same as I was told in childhood
because I thought they were raised strictly and it was kind of same There are some region in Japan, where people are raised strictly I do not see them in the city area
JJI hates BBA and BBA hates JJI GAY cannot tolerate how shameful most women are
My definition for gay: Pessimist and Perfectionist. Someone who do not understand or never admit how women act or think in such a way, do to their strong ideal like Greek statues toward woman being
Do you live in the west coast of US? Posts from overseas have a series of characters after the post time, in your case, after 20:37:00.86, but there's nothing there.
>>225 The second part of your post sounds like a good attitude to take. To take control of your own life, rather than to just follow everyone else. Though if they said that about your own decisions, it sounds like a bit of a difficult situation...
>>255 Who knows. We only live around only several decades some believe in heaven and I believe more spiritual things because I have seen grandfather before he passed out
No matter what we do, we all go away someday
I always think "how I think" is more responsible than "how others think" We all need to consider about other people but we also have to know that no matter what we do, our decisions returns to us and it has to be something explainable. At least to yourself
>>256 Believing in heaven is a comfort to many people, so I suppose that's why the idea is so popular. However, my problem with organised religion is that the ideas are good, but the implementation isn't. People are able to live by good ethics without having to pay a church.
It's true that other peoples' thoughts and feelings are important, but their happiness doesn't (shouldn't) depend on us. As long as what we do isn't morally objectionable, it should be accepted. And as you say, it's pretty important that what we do makes sense to us.
Anyway, it's my intention to live forever. So far, my plan is working.
Why are all the threads fill with too much agitated people these days Relax and have some fun guys It seems that they totally lack TPO and post all non-related topics everywhere and everytime. Honestly, it is so hilarious!
Some are drinking while posting and having nice conversation while others seems to be sober and seriously posting non-related topics like everywhere. It is nothing but a joke
If you want to have normal convesations, I recommend looking for other websites. This thread has been totally worthless recent years unless you want to play with jerks or paranoids or yourself.
Mine is not like serious but some are All fake and bad rumors, they post them just EVERYWHERE and when we disagree, they keep on agitating and it is definitely so annoying
>>271 English board overall (not only this thread) has been chaos these days, I guess. I think that's why someone started a poll to decide if English board will adopt ID system. If ID system is adopted, each posts comes with an ID and it doesn't change for 24 hours from midnight. I wonder if ID system will be set in place.
>>272 I think it's about time to put it away. Last night, I used up all oil in oil container of my heater.
>>274 Unfortunately, the curren ID system is not so effective since there are loopholes. I stopped by the voting thread a bit ago and thought that was neither creative nor capable of whatever they wanted to do. Then I just found some horrible advertisement of so-called new 2ch. It says their English board has a ID system. So if you want a ID system, emigrating there would be the simplest way. However New 2ch seems pretty desolate.
In anycase I`m not interested in either the commotion between Maroyuki and Jim or troublesome things. 2ch is not the center of the world.
It is just so terrible these days! There are bunch of liars and some are definitely so malicious and very exhausting sometimes because it is not even communication at all but almost like yelling
Why don't 管理人 just kick them out, especially, copy & paste same sentence all the time. Today, I saw this person do this thing at least 10times/30min and it is just so crazy!
>>274 Ah, so the ID still changes on a daily basis... I didn't realise that. I suppose things might become even quieter if the ID system applies to everyone.
>>275 I've had a look at the new 2ch, and it looks like the boards are synchronised. At least, at the moment, this thread is the same up to your post. The layout seems almost exactly the same. I'm not sure why they chose a Seychelles domain though.
>>276 I don't see anyone worshipping anyone. Just some people being polite and civil to one another.
>>281 you are always saying (I think you are the same person) I hate, I hate, and I hate but can you find something you like? Everyone do not want to hear, I hate everytime There is a ratio to everything. You can say bad things but at the same time say the good thing as well sometimes You are a disaster
"My grandfather was in The Pacific theatre of World War II. He told me that when they were on Okinawa they found these Japanese soldiers raping and killing women in a small village. His unit went in and shot some of the soldiers and disarmed the rest. They held the soldiers up in front of the rest of the village and cut off their heads while they were still screaming. After that he said they played a round of football with the Japanese officer's head. He showed me pictures they took after the incident. Scarred for life."
"He said after they killed all the remaining Japanese soldiers and approached the women with food and blankets to cover themselves that many of the women jumped off a cliff because they thought the Americans would do the same to them."
Do you believe it? All anti-Japanese people fall into ruin!
>>296 There was once a fat lady from China Who had a really enormous vagina, And when she was dead They painted it red, And used it for docking a liner.
My recent favorite at Sutaba is half berry hibiscus+half Valencia orange. It's so perfect for a hot day but it's still cold for iced drinks. I'll order it more often toward the summer!
Why do people mistake coffee order the first time at Starbucks? That was used as a subject of an anime Nichijo. I think it's because, to people like me, chilled coffee sold in convenience stores, especially "Mt. RAINIER" are THE espresso. In addition, there is not only normal espresso but also DOUBLE espresso, and both of them have plenty of milk. I haven't visit Starbucks since I mistook only once.
One of the Chinese leader said the bilateral relations should be improved to help build the reconstruction of economy when the Governor of Tokyo visited Beijing.
Gosh what that guy said last night has been really getting on my nerves. It makes a normally depressing Monday morning even worse. I wish he was sensitive enough to realize he destroyed a tiny bit of confidence left in me when he said that. It shows what he really thinks about my abilities and talents if there's any. He's a big liar..
Ahhh should I go eat sushi on the main street or get some cheap frozen dinner at supermarket..Most likely I'll stay in my bed doing nothing until I can't stand hunger. ><

Ah my throat is sore. I tried to swallow to get ride of a sore throat but I couldn't swallow well and I almost threw up. When I have a cold my throat usually starts to sore first. I hope it's not a sign of a bad cold..
The Thai girl said she spent a couple of years in Australia and another couple of years in New zealand. Oh yeah that explains her perfect English..Why are there so many people like her who got education overseas? I'm so jealous of them!
When I read your sentences, I can read in one stretch. I probably think you write without a line break. Your English makes me feel that I can read English well.
I wanna change my work. no raise. little bonus. how could i live with that? its all because of the stupid director. im so fuckin lazy man. all im good at is english and are there any job openings for me? im not trying to be rich or anything. just wanna make decent money. the world sucks. fuck the econ depression. cunning people take advantage and always win? fuck it. it's not the way i live

>>395 The government says the job openings to seekers slightly improved during the past several months. But an opposition leader said a half of younger employees and female workers are engaged in part-time jobs.

According to today's economic dailies, the manufacturing industry faces a stumbling block because of the obsolete equipment. It is said that the industry may fall behind other industrialized and developing countries in the field of the capabilities of supplies in the near future.
So huge a temporal chasm yawns open between you and me that we can hardly find the convenient time for both of us to talk on the phone, any more than can we establish smooth communication via e-mail. Or rather, it seems, e-mail has the upper hand over phone in that it allows us to see messages every day, any time of the day, as often as we like.
>>437 Does it matter when you have that huge distance when you are face to face? It will always be there. Everyone is to face this eternal darkness on their own. Everyone else is just a figure in this game.
>>437 Does it matter when you have that huge distance when you are face to face? It will always be there. Everyone is to face this eternal darkness on their own. Everyone else is just a figure in this game.
Dear Japanese English language speakers. I hope you are having fun while learning English. If you remove the humour there is no point in learning a new language. Therefore you must make an effort to make it fun. Yours deplorably KG2ch
I got a mail that told me a friend of mine had passed away. Although I haven't talked to her recently, I always thought she was my best friend. She was a charming lady who was quick with jokes and kind to everyone, even to me. She was still in early 40s, too young to die. I am so very shocked and sad.
It is tragic! Unfortunately that happens a lot. You see when I crack open a shale rock I see so many dead trilobites. Perhaps they were just crawling home to their loved ones This dreadful mudslide killed and fossilized them. For 350 million years. What is the difference between a trilobite and a human primate?
This kind of understanding of deep time and randomness kills any trace of religious faith. Also makes you understand how everything is transient, including your very existence. That you have to make your own way in life the best way you can and don't take anything for granted.
>>444 That is sad news to receive. It's especially sad when it's sudden, and you haven't had time to say goodbyes. The world is often not a gentle place.
>>450 When I find woodlice, they always remind me of trilobites. If you look closely, they're kind of cute. And then at night when I see silverfish, they're like sleek and elegant woodlice.
The article of a journal indicates no clear-cut trend toward a full scale recovery from the protracted business slump. I think it shows the Prime Minister's economic policies failed to calm down the runaway deflation despite the new tax system was introduced.
That reminds me of an embarrassing moment of my NT trip... My mom and cousin and I went on a family trip to NY a few years ago. At the time, neither of us could speak english. We had a really hard time talking to people. And one day after we visited Metropolitan museum we decided to eat at a restaurant in the museum. I ordered some kind of pasta. It was good. While we were eating, a waiter came up to us and asked how the food is. It's usual in US, nothing special. But me back then didn't know about this custom. I was surprised by suddenly being spoken to. I didn't know what to say but I thought I gotta say something. The thing I said right off the top of my head was Yummy!, then he was like"プッw. " and I was like"....." ...I still don't understand why I was laughed at but I do know I was somehow embarrassing.
The United States explicitly announced that Washington supports anti-government troops in Ukraine. I think it seems a proxy war between Russia and the United States.
>>469 Waiters typically come to ask that question while your mouth is full of food. So the typical response is something like "mrrghrrfmf".
Anyway I think he might have laughed because "Yummy" is sort of a childish word. It's not expected for someone older than 12 to say that seriously. But also I guess it's easy for people to laugh when talking to foreigners. I mean, I visited Japan and every word of Japanese that left my mouth was met with laughter.
Conflicts between the government forces and the anti-government troops developed into the large-scale civil war in Ukraine, killing more than 30 anti-government soldiers. It reminds me of the Cold War era.
>>477 What's wrong with you? If you want to let them away from the thread, you should entitle something like "Chat in English (Japanese Only)". But it's kinda confusing, isn't it?
He's just an overdramatic attention seeker. He's trying to get attention from foreigners by attacking them with overuse of F words. He can only communicate with others in English this way.
Korea was annexed to Japan peacefully in 1910. Japan did not invade Korea. Therefore, many Japanese and Korean people fought against Western Countries and China during the war. After Japan was defeated in the war, suddenly Korea changed their attitude. Max von Schuler-Kobayashi said, "During the war, the Korean people were Japanese citizens, and were willing and able participants in the Japanese Empire. It is after the war that they decided that they were victims, and switched roles." That's quite right.
I did not know details about the relationship between Japan and Korea in the early 20th century. But the South Korean people said the independence movement in 1919 is described as a riot by Japanese is an insult to them. And they charged that the Japanese massacred 20,000 Korean people immediately after the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923. Reading a few books about modern history, I wrote the sentences.
At the news conference, the cabinet minister emphasized the reconstruction of domestic economy and the financial rehabilitation. It is feared that the financial rehabilitation has turned out to be a pie in the sky because of accumulated debts of national bonds.
Blur blur blur. I'm too occupied with other things in my life Like I'm so happy that I found a place to sleep in between classes or I have no friends so I want to kill myself and that kind of thing.
Oops my bad >< Not so long ago, I got soap and soup mixed up and laughed at. I hate English! But I love English at the same time! We're in love hate relationship<3
>>496 Actually, someone pointed out to me yesterday that some IDs end with an exclamation mark (!). If you look at people who are known to be posting from overseas, all our IDs end with this.
However, I don't know if other peoples' IDs sometimes randomly end with a ! too.
>>504>>506 Wow! Thanks for the input. It seems like that's the case. Other than that of you Igirisu-jin and 506 from UK, IDs of Sparky (U.S.), KG2ch (UK) and ( ・⊇・)(Germany) have ! at the end of their IDs!
>>516 hmmm, you & your russian friend seem to like manga! me too (^-^*) not only that, i was trying to be a creater, but gave up from my laziness (^-^;

So good night! **********************************************************************
The United Nations Security Council pressed North Korea to suspend the nuclear test to maintain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula. But North Korea charged the military exercise between the United States and South Korea. I think that Pyongyang will be isolating from the international community much further than the present situation.
The situation remain desperate in Syria and that harsh measures will have to be taken, I suppose. The United States decided to support the anti-government troops in Syria.
Conflicts between Vietnam and China is raging in the waters over the dispute of the islands. The recent Chinese military build-up is a menace to Asia. China is promoting what it calls acts of hegemony in the region, I suppose.
Civil wars have been spreading over in various parts of the world. The US relations with developing countries have eroded under the Obama Administration, I think.
I hate everything. My life sucks. This is not why I came here. This is not what I wanted!!!!! I want to put an end to it and start over again. I will never fall into the same situation I've been in many times. I'll do better next time.
I woke up early today! Well, my friend woke me up..! Yesterday I slept all day and felt so tired and sleepy all day. Today I feel like I'm a different person! I feel so much better. Waking up early is hard but after you get out of the bed, you feel much better throughout the whole day.
A reformist politician claimed that Japan should take a humble attitude toward Asian nations because of Japan's past conduct in their countries during the war. But, Japan has paid compensation for these countries after the war. For example, Japan extended economic aid to Burma (Myanmar) to furnish medical equipment for the Rangoon Hospital.
>>585 Our honorifics are quite different and don't really share the same meanings. We don't have an equivalent of 'tan'. We would just think of unrelated things, such as the colour tan, or of suntans and tanned leather.
>>589 Yakiniku looks really fun. For some reason, I never got around to trying it. The closest was ジンギスカン. That was pretty special, though.
>>591 You are as much an imperialist as I am. So maybe we should hold imperialist hands while singing imperialist songs, and then drink some delicious imperialist tea together, my fellow imperialist friend!
>>593 I've not tried whale meat before, and it's been a long time since I had venison. Venison is nice, but was quite a rich meat.
It's difficult to say which is better to eat. For health or for flavour? When I cook, I often use chicken, beef, pork and lamb. Not all together though. Chicken is quite a neutral meat, not too rich-flavoured. But it's very versatile. Beef, pork and lamb go well with potato. A wine sauce usually goes well with beef. Cream sauces go well with everything.
Tomorrow I am making pork schnitzel, which is an Austrian dish a little similar to tonkatsu. The difference is we flatten the meat, and use more substantial breadcrumbs, rather than lighter panko.
I hesitate to say this, but I believe whale meat, whitch I used to eat when a kid, is the best for our health. Low fat and high protein, it tastes half fish half animal.
Difficult to cook but so delicious when it's cooked right. I cannot forget the taste of its 竜田揚げ as 学校給食. Best dish I've ever had, honestly.
>>600 Naturally you will when you have to survive. Just like most Japanese people ate whale meat after Japan lost the war with the US. in the serious food shortage. Only a one whale can save thousands of people's lives.
In Vietnam, after the Chinese patrol boats collided with the Vietnamese boat, the demonstrators marched to the Chinese Consulate voicing the withdrawal of the Chinese ships. During the Vietnam War, China had supported the North Vietnamese troops and had given the forces arms to replenish supplies. North Vietnamese forces carried arms, foods and others to anti-South Vietnamese government guerrillas through the so-called "Ho Chi Minh Trail." The South Vietnamese government was said to be a puppet regime of the US.
Please refer to my sentences of >>605. In the background of the recent accident, Vietnam penetrated into Cambodia in the late 1970's. The Chinese backed the Pol Pot regime in Cambodia collapsed quickly after the Vietnamese thwart. After that, conflicts between China and Vietnam occurred. Chinese forces withdrew from Cambodia soon mainly due to the military strength of Vietnam that had experienced the Vietnam War.
>>612 You can use it as a verb, but maybe not in that context. If a tank runs over a car, the car has been pancaked. Basically, if you hit something with enough force to flatten it, then it's been 'pancaked'. However, we don't usually use it as a continuous verb (pancak[ing]), but as the result of another action. Technically, it can be used that way though.
>>604 We can go and apologise together for the colonialism that we both actively participated in, my colonialist friend.
>>614 Well Japan had better get ready to fork over their entire GDP Because we're the foreigners muhahahaha We won't stop our collective, single-minded mission until your entire paycheck goes to Korea And Japan is owned by the whales, all walking around in suits And all your pitchers go to the Yankees
>>614 We're talking at cross-purposes, I think. I'm not talking about Japan. Just you as an individual. It is counter-productive to praise or condemn people based on the actions of their government.
Also, there's an irony in you calling someone ignorant. Especially when all your information comes from one-sided sources.
Can we not just live in peace? Do you not remember when we took walks by the riverside? When we talked and laughed together? When you would fall asleep in my arms?
>>618 Sounds British indeed. I'm listening BBC1 for hours now via iPlayer, and it's Anne Mac's playing Beyonce. The previous programme from Glasgow was really interesting, with a psychologist and young boys and girls talking about adolescent problems.
>>619 Ah, I didn't realise it was accessible from overseas. I'm not so familiar with Radio 1, what kind of music does Annie Mac usually play? Were any of the people on the previous programme from Glasgow itself? If so, how were the accents? Sometimes I listen to Radio 2, partially for the music, and partially for the talking content on the programmes.
Beyonce, Estelle, etc. to - who's she? - Jessie Ware at the moment? As for Glasgow, the DJ's were forcing each local to say a phrase in their accent - cruel, isn't it? Radio 2! What a snob! (just kidding) Sometimes I have to work from nidnight to noon, when i listen to Up All Night on 5live, and Dotum Adebayo's my favourite. Also I'm fond of a BBC local's, such as Conventry & Warwickshire.
>>621 Many of these artists seem quite obscure. It's more interesting than Radio 2's daytime lineup, where they have lists of what's popular at the moment. In fact, the last artist I've heard of on Mac's show was Bill Withers. BBC Radio Tees is my local BBC station, but it's probably not worth listening to. I can't remember the last interesting thing that happened here...
I'm always interested in how people react to the Glaswegian accent, since it's often very difficult to understand, even for British people.
The radio can be good company for someone who works during the early hours of the morning, I think.
>>623 It does make sense, in the context that the makeup is flattened into a visible layer on her face.
Mr Oe's English has a heavily Japanese accent to it, but it's understandable. He seems very self-conscious, though he can still be understood when he doesn't correct himself. I have a feeling that he's studied English to a high level, but hasn't had much chance to actually practice speaking it.
>>624 Soon you will be multicoloured, because you are turning into a parrot.
It's interesting that you think of me as a representative of my government. As with any country, there are high points and low points in our history. The worst atrocities committed by the British include the concentration camps in the Boer War, the Jhansi Massacre in India in 1858, and the treatment of detainees in internment camps in Kenya. Many people also regard Tony Blair as a war criminal. I am not proud of these, but neither am I responsible for them.
It's also interesting that you think that fighting aggression with aggression actually works. That makes you a hypocrite.
We know Korean can't put the past into the past. I think the saddest ferry accident gave the world people some hints about Koreans' self-righteousness.
>>624 Do not even talk when you dont have to talk you moron. You always say here, here, here. very pathetic. You should go to Bosnia Herzegovina and be fucked by Bosniaks. you will love it.
There are so many pathetic white wannabes in japan. They only target at white gaijins living in japan.
Today I saw this pathetic Japanese woman who was very decent-looking but she was with this ugly chubby white gaijin. I see these strange couples in japan all the time!
They love to spread their legs wide open to any white gaijins like craving white cocks lol
They are so pathetic oh there is this kind of pathetic white wannabe in this thread! That is called 三年英太郎 but that is a fag lol
>>635 I don't understand that talking to a white person (or whoever) in a polite manner make you a wannabe. I just don't see any logical connection between them.
To me what's happened on the thread is just like: You have been aggressive to everyone, and a lot of people here have been communicating in a civilized manner. Maybe somehow you believe that being assertive is the best way to persuade other people, but I don't share the belief.
Not sure what to eat for dinner. I cooked rice for the first time in weeks yesterday, Probably I'm having it but what to go with rice… I miss japanese supermarket's deli foods… Katsu and sashimi would be awesome
Oh my gosh! There's a bunch of flies in my room coming from nowhere! I should have never left bananas out on the table for a month. I threw away the blackened penis-shaped thing but those little guys are still occupying my room! Ewww please go away soon T.T
>>647 Aren't there Japanese or Asian supermarkets? We have some Japanese chain supermarkets over here so when I miss Japanese food, I go grocery shopping there.
>>654 No, never! I learned a good lesson from this. I won't make the same mistake ever again lol But I'd like to see what will happen with an apple if YOU try!
Ah I kind of regretted not doing anything for Mother's Day. She's in Japan so there's not much I can do but I could have mailed a heart-warming thank you letter or something to her. I just texted her "happy Mother's Day" without any exclamation marks or emoticons hah I'm such an ungrateful kid :-(
>>a3TgDBke Why do you keep coming to places full of persistent and disgusting people? You are also persistent but I know the emotion makes you do so...
>>648 I'm living in the UK. I try to avoid eating out as it's really pricy considering the quality. At home I quite often cook noodles (udon, ramen, spaghetti, soba noodle etc), and hotpot (japanese and korean style). And of course japanese style curry.
>>655 I'm not living in London. The city I live is relatively small but there is a Chinese/Asian grocery store. Their collection is not superb but I can get most of stuffs I need.
When I go London, I try to find the time to visit Japenese supermarkets on Brewer St. Also many Japanese supermarkets have online shops. Sometimes I buy things from them.
We apologized so many times simply because we lost the war. It is not a matter of conscience but of power game.
We will have to win in the near future. I am very sorry to see the situation that we are getting weaker in economy, politics, English language etc. Our culuture is the only hope, however not so reliable.
>>687 I've been in english speaking countries for very long time.
For the STAP cell fuss, my thoughts are something like this: 1) I'm glad I didn't do anything like that in writing my doctoral thesis. My thesis was not really groundbreaking, but on the other hand I don't have to worry about something will be revealed in future.
2) But I still understand why she did that. If you are under the pressure of publishing your resaerch, you can be tempted to commit some ethical violations. Faking the data of course should never happen, but there is a huge gray area where you can manipulate stuffs to get the better results.
3) I don't understand why some people think that this issue could deteriorate the reputation of science research in Japan. This is an incident committed by one researcher and what Japanese researchers have achieved is not so small.
>>665 That's a pretty good recipe for a casserole! However, that's only ONE recipe for British food. We actually have TWO recipes. Here's the other one:
1. Put meat in oven for several hours (remember to turn oven on first)
2. Boil some vegetables then drain them
3. Slice meat and serve with vegetables and gravy
>>676 It's good that you're not living up North. I think the selection of food is even less. However, many supermarkets cater to the local minority populations too. For example, my local Sainsbury's has a section for Polish food, as well as a lot of Muslim-friendly foods, such as halal Haribo. The selection of Japanese ingredients is pretty limited. Companies such as Yutaka and Clearspring seem to have a monopoly in the mainstream supermarkets.
It's good that Japanese people has begun to realize she did terrible things, misconduts and fabrications and such. I am the one who was at first deceived by her looks, but over the course of reading reactions of sicence community in Japan by reading their tweets, blogs and Obokata related threads in 2ch's Biology board, I realized how terrible she is as a researcher and as a person. What I don't never tolerate is she is implying Dr. Wakayama is involved with misconducts. Refarding 2), I understand the pressures on researchers, but I'd say she would have done without such pressures sooner or later. Some people suspect she's a psychopath and I agree with that. Regarding 3), the way Riken treats this incident could lead to a bad reputation of Japanese science community. Riken has some evidences of Obokata's misconducts left in her lab but they are not willing to check them one by one. Without Dr. Sasai, her STAP cell paper would have never have been accepted by Nature, and the flasy way that Riken announced the discovery of STAP sells shows Riken itself has responsibility behind this incident.
>>694 I doubt that. I think I've been here longer than you, and Igirisu-jin has been here longer than you, too. There was a time when more people from overseas post in this thread and had a very good time chatting. I bet you don't know anything about COOL TAK, Noriaki Da REAL and "What what in the butt" guy. Everybody has their shares of Slim Shady in them so I don't blame you of bragging about "exterminating" people from overseas. But ideally I hope this thread becomes a place where everybody enjoys talking as ever before, regardless of where they are from.
>>698 I'm not sure if I ever posted when Cool TAK released his new songs, 'Nanpa' and 'Asahi Super Dry'. They were kind of disappointing. 'I am so cool' is still his best song by far. The philosophical lyrics changed my life forever.
>>702 I think you weren't around when he realeased "'Nanpa." I hadn't been updated on him either so I was surprised to know he had released the new single. And hey! I didn't know "Asahi Super Dry" video. Technically, it is not a single though. I agree "I am so cool" is the best. Yeah, the catchy rhythm, lyrics and dance! Sort of like a thunder bolt hit in my head, too. lol
>>703 I see. you had terrble experiences in UK and that makes you hate people from overseas... Some host mother are terrible, I assume. I heard some people end up changing host families.
>>708 Hmmm... Really difficult question. I'd say I choose China. China will be a number one economic super power in the future, so establishing a good realation with the country will benefit Japan, I guess.
>>715 Well even she didn't allow me to use a washing machine so one day I asked her where I can wash my stuff and she barked at me like "I'm busy now!!!!!" or something
So I had to find a laundry store myself, looking around it for 5 hours
Haha a lot of posts in a short period though most of them seem to be mudslinging between two guys.
>>690 I mostly agree with the points you made in this post. But I'm not interested in her personality or mental problems she might have. There are a lot of researchers who is absolutely terrible as a person, but continuously publishes amazing work. Her looks and behaviors in the news conferences keep attracting people's interests, but these are the things that turn me off. To me it implies how little the scientists are appreciated in the society.
For the oversight from her bosses or institute, I don't support making it more strict. Although her conducts were terrible, these have been revealed through scrutinies and replications by other researchers. In that sense the community is healthy, and we should not overreact to a few horrendous misconducts. Riken has finalized their conclusion that Obokata has engaged in serious misconducts and that's enough to show in my opinion.
>>719 You're right, it really doesn't sound like a good exchange experience. It's unexpected that they would agree to be a host and then act like that. However, I have seen some families like that... It really is shameful behaviour, and I'm really sorry that you experienced it in my country.
In Japan, I relied on coin laundries. However, they're not so common in the UK, as most people have washing machines. If I were hosting, I'd be happy if people wanted to be clean.
>>715 I've not seen anything by Noriaki lately either. On Amazon.co.jp, his latest CD is from 2007. Seven years ago already... Oh, this talk about music reminds me. There's a big heavy metal festival in the UK in July, with bands such as Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Dream Theater, and... Babymetal. I'm not sure how people in the UK will react to that last band.
>>721 It's said Riken institute is a nest of 利権, and there are lots of things they hide in relation to this fabrication incidence. They are trying to save Dr. Sasai, ace researcher of Riken, who is said to be deeply involved in this case. Anyway, anonymous posts from researchers on the Internet have helped shed light on Obokata's misconducts. Without Internet, we wouldn't have gone this far yet.
>>722 As far as I know, Noriaki announced his retirement from show business so no more new singles and videos. He has a unique talent but it's difficult to survive in show business. He's a dropout from a prestigious uni so maybe he went back to uni or started working as an office worker.
>>724 > Without Internet, we wouldn't have gone this far yet. That's definitely true. In particular the nitpicking searches (I'm not criticizing) of plagiarism in Waseda Ph.D theses are quite amazing. This Waseda problem can potentially be a big problem as some young professors may lose the posts. Sorry for them, but these are all their faults.
I haven't had much troubles with brits since I don't have many of them around. Most of my colleagues are internationals. I would be pissed if something like >>719 happened to me.
By the way, I want to ask イギリス人 a question. Do you know why it takes so long to laundry clothes in the UK? I'm living in a shared house where a washing machine is equipped. The normal mode for cotton washing is 2.5hrs. I've lived several places in the UK and it was more or less the same. None of my few British friends doesn't have a good answer.
>>722 Also I and another Japanese student were literally forced to use liquid type of handsoap to clean throat after getting home because cold was catching on at that time!
Yes, it's a freaking HANDSOAP!
Another student was so pissed off like unstoppable! She was from the University of Tokyo foreign language majoring in English so she was so fluent in English enough to fight against the most mom
She was just so cool because I couldn't speak English at all even now I can't speak it though lol
>>726 Wow, 2.5 hours?? Even for me, that seems a really long time. I usually set mine to cottons at 40ºC and 1400rpm and it only takes 57 minutes. Are you using a steam cycle?
>>727 Was there a way to formally complain about the treatment? That's definitely not normal at all. She sounds like she has some kind of paranoid personality disorder.
Were you also studying foreign languages at university? We may not see eye to eye, but I have to admit that your English is good.
>>731 These days, what has replaced Noriaki and Cool TAK in your life? Or maybe I shouldn't say "replaced", since they are clearly irreplaceable.
>>734 I think there was but I didn't do anything because I thought its a really pain in the ass to adjust to a new host family! But she complained about this at the end of her last week and changed host family but she was in England for just one month during the spring vacation (I was there just 2 months)
Nope! I was not majoring in English at all. But I took some English classes as a selective course or something! That's all. Looking back I think I should have taken Mandarin Chinese when I was in school
I'd like to go to UK someday. I'm thinking about going on a working holiday Visa after I finish my school. But I'm afraid I might not be able to fit in the society because I'm not good with people. Even in Japan, I had a hard time socializing.(lol)
>>737 In many parts of the UK, especially the south, the environment isn't very social. When you take the metro or bus, people tend to keep to themselves and avoid eye contact.
Anyway, if you do go somewhere for a working holiday, it might be a good experience for your confidence, as well as to have an adventure. I just got my working holiday visa in March. There was a bit of paperwork with the application, a page itinerary, a page cover letter, bank statements, CV/resumé, photo, etc. but it was worth it.
>>736 I think the long cotton washes and steam cycles are for if you've been mud-wrestling. As you say, the short-cycle washes are definitely good enough for everyday wear. I could become a conspiracy-theorist and suggest that long washes are default to give water suppliers an excuse to raise the bill prices.
>>735 What were the rest of the family like? If you had changed host families, I don't think you'd have had a worse one. That one sounded bad enough...
At school, we only had the options of French, Spanish or German. It would have been nice to have had the option for more far-away languages. I guess my school specialised more in technical subjects (and pointless Religious Education) rather than languages.
I have not had an easy life in the UK as a Venusian. So I understand the problems encountered by the Japanese living in the UK very well. If there is anything I can do to help you, please contact me.
>>737 Actually you might feel comfortable in the UK as the social distance between people is somewhat similar to Japan, compared to the US. In the classroom or working place, they are more humble and less self-promoting.
Another similarity is the drinking culture. Public intoxication is pretty much tolerated in this country although I'm not sure you like it or not.
>>738 Ya. 2.5 hours of washing is definitely energy and water draining. Short cycles are better for energy saving and also keep the lives of my clothes longer.
>>738 Yeah I heard something like that before. I live in one of the big cities in US right now and things are different. Here, it's not unusual that random people talk to you in public. Like when I'm waiting in line at cashier or waiting for an elevator. Being friendly and open-minded is definitely a good trait of the American people...But just like I said, I'm bit on the socially awkward side and sometimes I feel the pressure of having to act like them to fit in. I also have to worry about my English language ability so it's really hard! You got a wa-hori visa in Japan? That's awesome! When will you start working in Japan?
>>740 Maybe I should move to UK hah But I also heard they tend to be less concerned about racial issues so you might be discriminated against more often if you are from a minority group.
>>734 Unfortunately, nothing can replace them as you guessed. Even when I sleep, their music keep playing in my head. After all, no one is more real than Noriaki and no one is more cool than Cool TAk.
LI like to dream of something that will never come true. What if this what if that? What would it be like? I'd be so happy that I could die....After I come back from daydreaming of all the things I wished to be true, life feels so sad and empty.
>>741-742 Hopefully August, but I have until March next year to start. I really want to get my current work out of the way before I go. Still have no idea where to stay, but my goal is to take loads of photographs and see many places.
You mention that you worry about your English ability... in writing, it's good, but many people seem to say there's less emphasis on speaking, in the Japanese education system. However, if you put yourself in situations where you're forced to use the language (such as you living in another country), I think that language acquisition is much, much faster, and much more natural.
I wouldn't really say that the UK is xenophobic, but the media does stir up trouble towards some minority groups. In particular, the media doesn't like the adoption of Islamic culture, or immigration from poorer European nations, Romania and Bulgaria in particular.
Speaking of poor countries, my freaking host mom in England regularly hired a housekeeper from Poland like twice a week and she just enjoyed drinking tea while watching a housekeeper cleaning
>>757 That's right, we can use it for many things. - "I have until midnight to complete my assignment." - "You have until noon to hand in your report." - "We have until 16:30 to board the plane."
>>758 Housekeepers aren't really common. People who do hire them usually have jobs that give them limited time to clean. Most people who have the time do their own housecleaning. As you say, though, many people employed as housekeepers are from countries such as Poland.
It sounds like she had a complex where she wanted to feel in control and important... did she ever offer the housekeeper tea or coffee? It's customary here to make drinks for tradespeople while they're working.
my slovenian friend was working in UK as a cleaner. the salary was amazingly low (as compared with brits) still he was able to go back home with a new PC and a Nikon (^-^*)
>>758 Like igirisu-jin says, housecleaners are very common. Even a student I know uses them for cleaning his house shared with his friends. The cost is £20 for cleaning once a week, which is affordable even for students. For shared houses (which is common for even people with full-time jobs, as rents are really high partly because of the short-supply of flats for singles), using housecleaners is a good solution because residents do not have to worry about who cleans up, where, when.
Speaking of Polish, there was a massive wave of Polish immigration in the past decade. Polish people is now the second largest minority in UK after Indian.
>>761 I guess they're more common in the South of the country, where people tend to commute and work longer hours. It's interesting to hear that even students use them.
>>760 People do tend to take advantage of people who have emigrated for work. It's illegal to pay them below a certain amount, but some people still try to. However, as you say, even minimum wage here is more than a normal wage in some other countries. I guess that's why they don't complain.
Japan is getting close to be the UK, because of the rise of the taxsation. Nobody will pay for vending machine these days. Soon there will be the ghetto in Japan. Many of my friend already left Japan and imigrated to the U.S, Canada.
She said her mother tongue is mandarin because she went to Chinese school and her family always talks in Chinese. When she was in college, the common language was English so she speaks English just fine
>>769 I've never seen so many vending machines as in Japan. However, I never actually used one there. Convenience stores were really convenient, though.
>>768 It's difficult to decide who has better taxes, I think. While the US income tax is about 15% compared to the UK's 20%. However, the first £10,000 is untaxed. Also, we pay a small amount for National Insurance, instead of taking out compulsory expensive private health insurance policies. Of course, some people still take private insurance due to waiting times in public hospitals. In general, healthcare is pretty good here. Taxes are reasonable, depending on where you live here. Some places get better public service coverage than others. Also, London gets the most attention, while town such as mine are quite neglected, since it's so far away.
>>770 It's mainly Daily Mail readers who complain about such things. They're the most xenophobic people in the UK, I think. Also, many people seem to be happy to complain about immigrants, while they leech welfare from the government, unwilling to work. Most employers will hire the people most suitable for the job, and many immigrants are very hard workers, so they naturally get the jobs.
The Vietnamese riot rushed to the Chinese-based factory, injuring and killing scores of people. The two countries should make efforts to avoid worsening situation, I think.
>>777 To me it's not that bothering. Obviously the South Asian looking guy was just being nice to you, and saying "are you trying to insult me?" to that guy seem too eccentric. I'd just say "I'm not Chinese" with smile.
I like Japanese culture and stuffs but being Japanese is not a big part of my ego. I have better things to be proud of.
I think I should sell some kind of badge which shows that you're not Chinese like I heard that Canadians put Canadian flag on their bags when they are in foreign counties. I saw this at airport.
I believe this will be huge like I will be a billionaire!
>>780 I'm not that a sophisticated person so I can't do that!
Also I was so disappointed by their act of joining their hands together and bowing like Thai people when they recognized me as Japanese some people in England did this to me even my freaking host mom too
Japanese people don't do this right? Except praying at shrine or cemetery or something
>>787 This reminds me of one time I went to a Chinese restaurant with my sister's family, in Canada. As we were leaving, my youngest nephew (aged 6 at the time) turned to the Chinese doorman, bowed, and said "sayonara".
>>797 I think it's a bit of both. As many people in this thread have pointed out, British cuisine isn't really complicated or extravagant. Some people might argue that sandwiches are a part of British culture.
As for Northern Ireland, the whole situation is a mess. If the Northern Irish were willing to be absorbed back into Eire, I think it would be a good thing. However, it's all down to religion. The silly thing is that they're both Christian, so it's not even completely different religions. Since I'm not religious, I can't take sides based on that.
>>798 I don't understand the statement and the question, sorry.
>>805 Showing the respect to others or writing decent English, at least one of them is necessary to have smooth communication, and you don't have either.
>>813 Both Northern Ireland and Eire are nice countries, but it would just be nice if they could live in peace. These days, most English people aren't even Protestant Anglican Christians, so we don't have the Protestant vs. Catholic mentality of the old days. We're not anti-Irish, nor are we anti-Northern Irish.
It's unfair to impress religion on young children, I think. It's like brainwashing and indoctrination. It probably is especially bad in Ireland and Northern Ireland, since it will sometimes have hatred and violence behind it. I'm glad that your friend can recognise that though, and form his own thoughts on religion.
British cuisine can be good if made right, but most pubs serve mediocre food. When I cook, I hardly ever make British food. Lately, it's been Middle-Eastern food, which is really delicious! Oh, here's a pie shop I found in Kyoto... http://i.imgur.com/uXgRi37.jpg
>>812 Thank you for a number of replies. I appreciate them. I contemplated whether I should make posts from ID: 6gG77o+t invisible, and I concluded that I should. Sorry. I miss you for at least 22 hours.
Toushi is one of the clan of Nihon, but actually they are Kankokujin. Their homeland is called Mimana Kara the south part of hanto. Wake up Japanese. Toushi, Sato is fake.
The Prime Minister emphasized the Self Defense Forces should play a more international role in the international community, in particular, the forces help escape the nationals in a case of emergency. The Prime Minister repeated that Japan will by no means become a military power again. But his true aim is to revise the war-renouncing Constitution, I suppose.
The new election system is argued among the executives of the political parties because the wide gap in the weight of individual votes should be corrected. On the background, the Supreme Court ruled that any national elections run counter to the Constitution unless the wide gap is corrected.
Experts in industrialized nations say the scheduled presidential election in Syria is invalid. Representatives from the United Nations must have a mission to mediate the conflicts between the government forces and anti-government troops in Syria, I think.
>>825 Even now, it seems almost impossible to uphold the three non-nuclear principles of not having, not producing and not introducing nuclear weapons.
>>828 If you get the chance, I'd recommend Haribo Maoam (Mao Mix). However, there has been some controversy with it. I can't post links, but just search for "haribo maoam controversy".
Police arrested a famous singer on charges of having stimulant drugs, but he denied the charge. Major periodicals used to describe his suspicion of narcotics recently.
>>850 you are just not used to shaving, I think. I shave not only balls but sometimes all pubic pubic hair, but don't feel like that any more! and you should know girls usually don't like hairy balls! (^m^ )
>>855 whitening paste with 過酸化尿素 causes 知覚過敏 sometimes.... be careful...
I don't care about the color of teeth, but care about the color of skin. I usually use ハイドロキノン cream for my xxxx. (^▽^ )
It seems that the Japanese government has not been making an issue of the transit of Japan's territorial waters by US nuclear armed warships despite its non-three nuclear principles. It goes without saying that Japan may have its own nuclear weapons in the future.
each product contains about 2-4% Hydroquinone. that sounds easy to use.
>>871 you don't seem being afraid of any side effects. what is more I think you're using it for your genitals. how long are you using the product? I've heard that it takes quite a while to delete spots on skin.
>>875 you are right. it takes a looooooong time to make your skin brighter with Hydroquinone. and it depends on how thick the skin is. as to male genital, the skin of balls are thin and easier to change. other parts are thick and not that easy.
i have been using it for 2 years, but not constantly. once you start whitening, you have to continue applying at least 6 months, which is one cycle for of the replacement of skin. but I tend to be lazy.
I've applying it even on 粘膜(亀頭), but never felt any side effects so far. 4% is not that strong.
>>877 Yeah. Same thing goes with TOFEL as well. Even though I got over 90 on TOEFL, which is higher than the minimum requirement for most four year universities, I still can't hold a decent conversation. (speaking-wise)
I haven't been updated on current music scene, but when I was reading tweets, I found a link to a newspaper article that reports Paul Macartony's cancellation of the rest of four shows in Japan. His Japan tour were almost sold out. Many fans must have been disappointed. Japan seems to be a cash cow for overseas artists. If I'm not mistaken, Rolling Stones did some concerts, too a little while back. If you ask me, they lives on the past glory, although it's amazing they still draw huge crowds to their concerts. As a pro singer, Sir Paul Macartony should have taken care of his health more. Taking his age into consideration, it could be difficult to stay fit, but maybe just me but quite a lot of overseas singer cancel concerts citing health reason. What a bummer.
>>895 Have you been doing asshole whiting too? Because, you know, a guy with a dark-colored dick tends to have as swarthy an ass-hole as... a Black hole from which even light cannot escape...
A bomb exploded and the buildings collapsed in a marketplace in Nigeria, injuring and killing scores of people. The government says they continue their struggle against anti-government troops. I hope the UN officials engage in their mission to mediate the dispute.
My eyes are so dry...When I don't get enough sleep, my eye dries easily. Speaking of eyes, I accidentally opened new contacts even though I had opened ones that I can use. Stupid me.
There's nothing as good as staying in bed and going back to sleep in the morning. I now I should get outta here and get ready for school because otherwise I might miss school. But it's too nice in here and it takes so much will power to leave this heaven
I hate myself for not trying my best. No, I did put in a lot of time and effort. The problem is I don't know the right way to do it. And I don't have balls to get out of my comfort zone and change the situations I'm in. If I really want to achieve my goal that bad, I'd dump him so quick and find the right guy who meets my needs
The broadcast says that the terrorists drove the vehicles laden with explosives perished into the blast in the market place in Xinjiang Uygur territory, injuring scores of people. Minorities complain the communists' one party rule in China, I think.
>>931 The definition of the english word "hentai" is a bit different than how we use. It almost exclusively means the anime porn, not like pervert or kinky.
Speaking of kinky, Kinki university has announced it's English name from Kinki University to Kindai University because Kinki resembles "kinky."
According to an article I read, when a professor or students from the uni did presentations in conferences overseas and they told the audience what uni they are from, the audience often laughed.
>>934 Do you also know the word エッチ(H) come from the word hentai? When your wife or girlfriend says H to you with a smile, usually means,"I love you and do it more".
Imposing a curfew in Thailand, the General said he took a power in a coup. The government decided to prohibit demonstration and democratic movements. On the background, the nationals felt weary about the recent political situation that was described as a mess.
China has been promoting the Socialist-market economy instead of the traditional command economy. But the present government is oppressing people in a view of the freedom of speech. Stalinism now survive in the sphere of political ethics, I think.
>>959 We must call on the government to create more jobs including part-time jobs to soothe prevailing labor unrest. Of course, the government should avoid the price-wage spiral.
Generally speaking, Japan should become an export-oriented nation again to increase productivity to catch up with new industrialized nations, for example, China.
He bent on his hands and knees with the Pearl stuck up his ass. The hole was stretched to the max and looked so painful. Feeling my penis getting bigger, I feigned coolness and looked down at him with a despiteful look. I started moving the toy in and out and he also moved his ass trying to find a good spot. When it hit a good spot, he groaned. Soon, white juicy per-cum came out of the top of his cock. I was urged to lick it up and swallow it. Just looking at him like that would make me cum.
>>973 Your post reminds me of Mozart's letters. He is famous, among classical music fans, to love dirty talks. Unbelieable considering for his beautiful masterpieces!
I love his works, not himself, altough I like dirty talks too.
So im dining at this cafe/restaurant right now and there's so much tension between the employees. A guy in the kitchen made food and put them up on the counter. But other waitresses who are supposed to bring them to customers don't do anything and the plates have been left on there for awhile. so every time the guy makes another food, he almost screams like "Order up!!!". It's scary hahahaha
Reluctantly, the auto industry, electric industry and other industries must raise retail prices in line with the yen's appreciation and introducing a new tax system.
>>980 No. It's like nobody will buy a new car. If raising the price of fee of daily life, freedom of employment, workstyle will be needed and socially accepted.
Recently, an increasing number of young employees is forced to work at the so-called "Black Companies" which are characterized by too long working hours and cheap labor.
