I'm Anonymous from 4chan and I've been "lurking" there since 2008. I was curious about 2ch and it's culture, I always wondered what are the differences between 2ch and 4chan users. In this thred, please ask me anything you want to know about 4chan and please also write something about 2ch. Arigato.
>>2 Each new post in a 4chan's thread rises it on top of the first page (so called "bump"). Usually there's some number of pages. The 0 page has the most recent threads. Different boards, like /b/ - random and /sci/ - science can be "fast" or "slow". Slow board is when there aren't many people posting, so the first page doesn't change that often (/sci/ is slow). Fast boards have many people posting all the time and whenever you refresh the first page, there are different threads (/b/ is fast). There's is a "catalog", when you click on it, it shows you all the threads on particular board, making it easier to find one you're interested int.
"Here, you post to a thread, then which rises up to the top. " That's exactly the same as on 4chan, unless someone uses "sage" in the email field. It doesn't "bum" - rise on top by this post.
"Besides, there are special browzers for 2ch and easy to find new posts. I wonder if there is something similar for 4ch?" There aren't special browsers, but there are special plugins for browsers. I don't use them, but I think one of them is named 4chanX.
In my image, 4ch is only for anime and drawing otakus or somebody like that. In 2ch we can talk about various topics including studies, sports, in each board. 2ch used be considerd as underground website before but nowadays, more and more normal people watch 2channel. Like we love to talk about baseball(especially Japanese professional baseball )and the players which is most popular sport in Japan.
>>4 hmmmm, I didn't know that! Thanks :o) I should go there to develop my English.
Poland is my first european country, for I'm a Chopin admirer. (technically Germany .... but just a couple of hours for transit) I went there as a student, and spent a month mostly in Poznan.
>>6 4chan does have many boards about various subjects, including anime, video games, technology, sports, animals, auto and many, many more. I used to frequently browse /g/-technology, we usually talk there about GNU/Linux, new consumer electrionics, NSA spying, configuring desktops to look cool (anime wallpapers and stuff). Your image of 4chan probably comes from /b/-random. There are some really crazy people there, but it's just that one board. I'm not a sports person, but there are two boards just about sports - /sp/, /asp/ - alternative sports and there's also /fit/ - health and fitness.
4chan also used to be underground, but it got much attention from media about "Anonymous activists" making it popular now. The quality of posts became lower after that.
In alternative sports they discuss also martial arts, I trained Karate and Aikido a little and always wanted to go to Okinawa and learn real Karate from the source. However, I'd have to first learn the japanese language.
>>7 Cześć! Jak się masz?
>>8 There's an international board - /int/, you may try there.
I'll probably disappoint you, but I don't know much about classical music. Some people even argue, if Chopin was Polish or French. On the other hand, I know who Hatsune Miku is! I was once or twice in Poznań, just a regular city actually. We went with friends there to participate in a Lego Robot tournament. It was fun.
Yeah, nowadays it's hard to find someone addicted to classical music :o( Miku sings some classical airs on youtube, though!
The English board is kind of "slow," moreover it's 9am here. If evening, you would meet more people. Some are eagar for gaijins to talk with, here in the isolated country. Come here back in 10 hours :o)
>>11 I'll check Mku's airs on youtube, thanks. It's 1:30am in Poland now, so if I were to come in 10 hours it'd be 11:30am. Maybe I'll check this thread then too.
I thought Japanese didn't like gaijins, I kept hearing all this "baka gaijin!" etc. Is Japan really this isolated? You say, some are eager to talk with gaijins, but you'd have more gaijins if there wasn't IP range block on 2ch. To be honest, I had to use Japanese proxy to make this thread ;-)
>>12 It's nice to see someone knews a few polish words on 2ch, domo arigato! Maybe we'll meet one day on Okinawa, who knows!
>>14 Some used to post announcements for muuder like "I will kill ****." or reveal private information like someone's postal address, through overseas proxy, not to be identified who did it. That's 2ch started blocking overseas IP.
Well, the Japanese are afraid of foreigners actually rather than hate them. We live in isolated islands, and foreign countries are, sensuously and physically, really far! I think over half of the population have never been abroad.
In addition to it, we have only 1% of foreigners living with us. (mostly Koreans and Chinese) Thus few opportunities to contact with them.
We still need some time to get used to gaijins! Be patient, please :o)
In 2chan's jargon, amateur grils who upload their nude photos are called Megami, or Goddess in English. (Strictly speaking "The goddess board" for such acts are not 2chan, but it adopts very similar system and some people think it's part of 2chan.) I know some girls in 4chan upload such photos on /b/ board. 1) Does that happen often?
2) What do you think the age bracket of average users of 4 chan? Regarding 2chan, many users are in thier 30's, 40's and I think even 50's or more older.
3)What was a craziest thing happened in 4ch recently?
