逆の立場になって考えてみたら分かりやすいのでは？
日本語を学んでいる外国人が、（日本語の）国語辞典を使うことの意味を考えてみるとか。

ないよ。
英和で十分。不自由したことない。

別にメリット感じない人はいらないんじゃないの。

みたいな論争と一緒。

一般的に、動詞は英英使って調べたほうがいい。
名詞・形容詞は英和で十分。というか英英だと逆にくどい説明も多い。
副詞・接続詞は辞書による。

イメージの湧かない単語は画像検索すると面白いよ

英英か英和かというより定義が適切かどうかだろ。

ていうか、英語を英語で説明されても、最終的には日本語に訳さないと意味が分からないよね？
我々日本人にとって意味とは日本語な訳だから。

そりゃ10万人に一人くらいは英語を英語のまま理解できる語学の天才もいるかもしれないけど、大多数の凡人にとってみれば、意味とは日本語訳でしょう？

だから、いくら英英で調べても、最後は英和を使わないと意味が分からないよね。

そんなことないよ。
英語で難しいことを考えるとか、日本語なしで英語で話すとかは難しいだろうけど
英語のまま英語で理解して読むぐらいならそれほど難しくないよ。
それぐらいなら基本的英語力があること前提で訓練すれば普通にできるようになる。

学校教育は和訳主義だから、
和訳しないときがすまないとおもうけど、読むだけなら必須ではないね。
所詮他人（英語圏の人々）の完成を受け入れるだけだから、
相互理解みたいなもん。

ただ、自分の内面ってのは日本語で育ってて言語と人格が合体しているから、
思考を英語でするってのは、どこまでいってもありえない。
無理すればできないことはないけどそこまでする意味がない。日本人やめてるっていうより人間やめてる感じ。

そのためには英英辞典を使うのがいい、ということだが英英辞典を使えるトコまでいくのが一苦労
